Our small groups guarantee Never more than 26 guests per tour

We always keep our tour group sizes small. That's because we want every guest to get the comfort, space and service they deserve. Although many other companies squeeze in groups of up to 50, even the largest of our tour packages are strictly limited to just 26 guests. That leaves empty seats on the coaches. So why do we limit our tours to such small group sizes? Here are six reasons.

Superior Service

Guests consistently list our small group sizes as a top reason why they would book with us again. See our reviews...

More focus on you

With a smaller group, our tour guides have more time to get to know you and your interests.

We deliberately leave empty seats on our coaches, so you can relax and spread out.

Experience each attraction up-close and personal, with more time to ask questions and see what interests you.

Speedier Check-Ins

Compared with many of our rivals, our smaller group sizes make checking in and out of the hotels a breeze.

More Relaxed Pace

Experience Ireland at your own pace. No rushing to keep up and no waiting around for large groups to assemble.

Welcome to Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland. This city combines a deeply rooted history and culture with a vibrant and friendly atmosphere. Day 2: Dublin

small escorted tours of ireland

Good morning, Dublin! Our guided exploration of this charming city features diverse experiences. First, we'll enjoy a panoramic tour of Dublin. Our first stop is the magnificent Christchurch Cathedral and its medieval crypt which houses, among other things, Ireland's first copy of the Magna Carta and a mummified cat and rat (locally known as Tom and Jerry). We'll visit Trinity College and the Book of Kells* before enjoying the rest of the day at leisure. Dublin is a walkable city and our Tour Director can recommend local parks, pubs, and other sights to explore during our free time or consider joining our optional distillery tour of the Guinness Storehouse.

*Towards the end of 2023, the current visitor entrance in the Old Library will be relocated to a new entrance and exit via the new Visitor Centre, improving both accessibility and amenities to exhibition visitors.

Day 3: Dublin – Belfast

small escorted tours of ireland

En route to Belfast, we'll stop at a hands-on baking demonstration at a family home in County Down. We'll enjoy a warm Irish welcome and a cup of coffee or tea with some homemade sweet treats. Our session starts with a traditional Irish Fruit Soda Cake, a sweet treat made with delicious homemade Irish butter. While our soda cake bakes in the oven, we'll make potato bread, or fadge as it's known in these parts We'll take home a bag filled with our handmade breads and sweet treats and all of the recipes we learned here at this traditional Northern Irish house.

We continue to historic Belfast where our tour continues. We'll see the curious "leaning" Albert Memorial Clock, the Opera Hosue, City Hall, Belfast's legendary pub, the Crown Bar; Queens University, and the Botanic Gardens. We'll also see Belfast's famous "peace wall," where murals illustrate the 30-year conflict called The Troubles. This evening we'll enjoy dinner at our hotel.

Day 4: Belfast

small escorted tours of ireland

Today we'll learn more about a catastrophic event that has been captured in film, books, and television at the Titanic Belfast Experience. This must-see attraction uses special effects, full-scale reconstructions, and interactive features to bring the story of the ill-fated Titanic alive from its sinking to present-day exploration. After our visit, the rest of the day is ours to explore Belfast independently.

Day 5: Giant’s Causeway – Derry/Letterkenny

small escorted tours of ireland

We'll enter Game of Thrones territory today as we travel along the remote North Antrim Coast. Our destination: The Giant's Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and geological wonder. We'll learn all about the myths, legends, history, and geology of this amazing phenomenon before we continue to the picturesque port town of Derry. We'll enjoy a guided walking tour of Derry's highlights and stroll along wonderfully preserved medieval walls before our dinner together.

Note: 2023 travelers will stay in Derry this evening while 2024 travelers will stay in Letterkenny. No changes have been made to the day's sightseeing.

Day 6: Derry/Letterkenny – Sligo – Galway

small escorted tours of ireland

Today’s journey takes us into County Sligo, where the contrast of calm lakes and rugged uplands inspired Nobel Prize-winning poet W. B. Yeats. We’ll visit the world-famous Belleek Pottery, housed in an imposing Victorian building. Our guided tour here takes us through the production areas where we'll have an opportunity to meet the craftspeople and watch them work on different handmade pieces. We'll continue to Galway, a harbor known for narrow streets, stone-clad buildings, and traditional pubs with live music. We'll enjoy an orientation tour of the city with a local guide and this evening we'll enjoy dinner together.

Day 7: Galway at Leisure

small escorted tours of ireland

Today is ours to explore Galway at our own pace. We may consider a full-day optional tour to the breathtaking and utterly romantic Connemara region, where we'll visit the neo-goth Kylemore Abbey and take a scenic cruise on Killary Fjord to see why Oscar Wilde called the region "A Savage Beauty."

Day 8: Galway – Cliffs of Moher – Killarney

small escorted tours of ireland

We'll start the day with a visit to Rathbaun Farm to see a sheepdog herding demonstration and enjoy freshly baked scones. Our travels continue through The Burren, a unique limestone landscape that will make us feel like we've landed on the moon, and along the Wild Atlantic Way to Ireland’s most iconic sight, the majestic Cliffs of Moher. Standing 702 feet above the ground at their highest point, the cliffs boast magnificent views of the Atlantic coast and provide nesting sites for thousands of seabirds. On a clear day, you can see the Aran Islands. Later, we’ll take the Shannon Ferry over to County Kerry and proceed to the lovely town of Killarney. Dinner tonight is included at your hotel.

Day 9: Ring of Kerry & Kenmare Excursion

small escorted tours of ireland

Killarney is a great base for our expeditions in County Kerry over the next two days. Today we’ll take the Ring of Kerry route, stopping for panoramic views at Molls Gap and Ladies View. We’ll enjoy free time in the picturesque heritage town of Kenmare, which is set on the Ring of Kerry and known for its natural beauty, gourmet dining, and interesting craft shops. The afternoon is ours to further explore Killarney independently. This evening, consider our optional Kate Kearney’s Cottage traditional Irish night with dinner.

Day 10: Dingle Peninsula Excursion

small escorted tours of ireland

Today we'll explore the Dingle Peninsula, quite possibly one of the most breathtaking spots in the world. Here, the Irish language and traditional ways are preserved, and we’ll enjoy a step back in time as we see mountains, beaches, dunes and the fishing village of Dingle. We'll enjoy some free time in Dingle Town before our scenic drive continues along the Dingle Peninsula, bewitching us with dramatic beauty and brightly painted cottages. We'll return to Killarney late this afternoon with the balance of the day free to relax after our day of touring or explore local shops. Our tour director is happy to offer suggestions for a pub or restaurant for our independent evening meal.

Day 11: Killarney – Blarney Castle – Limerick

small escorted tours of ireland

Our first stop is the 5th-century Blarney Castle, famous for the Blarney Stone which is believed to bestow the "gift of gab" on those who kiss it. Our day continues to the Blarney Woolen Mills (where we can purchase a gorgeous heritage sweater!) and Adare, a picture-perfect village with pretty thatched cottages. We'll enjoy some free time in Adare before we stop for the evening in Limerick, which may have inspired the humorous verses of the same name. Enjoy our last evening together in medieval style with a farewell dinner at Bunratty Castle or Knappogue Castle. Featuring a piper in full regalia, grand period ambiance, and even goblets of mead, this candlelit feast with wine and entertainment is a fitting conclusion to our magical time in Ireland.

Day 12: Depart Limerick

Our tour comes to an end after breakfast this morning. Travelers who purchased our air-inclusive program will transfer to the airport early this morning for our return flight to the U.S., touching down later today.

Learn insider stories behind Titanic, designed to be one of the finest ships ever to grace the seas, on your visit to Titanic Belfast, built on the site of the former Queen's Island shipyards that produced the ill-fated liner. J. Bruce Ismay, Chairman of the White Star Line, asked Lord Pirrie of shipbuilders Harland & Wolff to construct "a stable ship that will not disturb the sediment in the fine wines" they were drinking together at a planning meeting. And while Titanic was, according to her builders, "as nearly as perfect as human brains can make her," she proved no match for nature. Discover more in modern-day galleries that bring the legendary ship back to life... and enjoy a 9-course Titanic tasting dinner in the Great Room of The Merchant Hotel.

About Booking This Tour

Travel Documents

If you are a U.S. citizen traveling internationally, you will need a passport valid for six months beyond the completion of your Tauck journey for entry into Ireland; however, you do not need a visa for the short duration of this tour.

If you are a citizen of another country traveling internationally, you should contact an embassy or consulate of Ireland to determine what travel documentation is required.

Please note that longer stays abroad for any purpose may require additional travel documentation.

We recommend that you make at least two photocopies of all the travel documents that you bring with you. Include copies of the photo page of your passport that contains the date of issuance, the date of expiration and your citizenship. Secure one set of copies in the safe in your room while traveling and leave one set behind with someone at home who will assist you in the event your documents are misplaced, lost or stolen.

To facilitate Travel Requirements, destinations are increasingly utilizing online forms that require digital proof that you've successfully completed your submission (via an email, QR code, etc.) To ensure smooth travels and peace of mind, we strongly recommend all guests carry a personal smart phone and sign up for international data plans before traveling overseas.

TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN AS A GUARDIAN: If you are traveling as the guardian of a child/children, we strongly suggest that you carry a letter from both parents of the child authorizing emergency treatment in the event of illness or accident. For travel abroad, many foreign countries have specific entry requirements for children under 21 who are traveling internationally without BOTH parents. (These requirements are in response to the increased incidence of children being abducted and taken abroad.) PLEASE NOTE THAT TAUCK IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for the disruption of travel caused by improper documentation for children traveling without both parents.

Deposits & Final Payment

Deposits and fees for the optional Protection Plan or Cancel Fee Waiver [CFW] coverage are due at time of booking.

The deposit amount is $600 per person

Final Payments:

Final Payment is due to Tauck  60  days before departure for lands trips, and  120  days before departure for cruises and rail journeys. If your deposit was made by credit card, final payment will be automatic unless you opted out at time of booking. Bookings without full payment at this time may be subject to cancellation without notice. Failure to make payment will be a considered a cancellation by the guest and all applicable cancellation fees will apply.

Travel Protection Plan

Effective for plans purchased as of July 1, 2021:

Tauck's Guest Protection

Tauck's Guest Protection provides you with cancellation protection before your journey begins as well as insurance benefits while you are traveling. Guest Protection includes the following:

Cancellation Waiver – Provided by Tauck:

Under Tauck's Cancellation Fee Waiver you can cancel your tour for ANY REASON up to the day before departure and receive a money-back refund (except in Extreme Circumstances*) on the land tour cost, based on your original method of payment.

*Extreme Circumstances:  In the event of an act of God, war (whether declared or undeclared), terrorism, accident, natural disaster, outbreak of disease, or other event or circumstance beyond our control that contributes to or results in cancellation rates above our historical cancellation rates in the absence of such event or occurrence, Tauck reserves the right to issue a credit to you in lieu of a money-back refund, applicable to a future Tauck journey.

Travel Insurance Benefits – Underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company.

  • Trip Cancellation –  If you must cancel your tour due to a covered reason, the plan provides coverage for the amount you paid for your travel arrangements. Since the non-insurance cancellation waiver takes care of the land package cancellation fees already, this benefit reimburses the airfare cancellation charges up to the value of your original airfare purchase.
  • Trip Interruption –  If you have to interrupt your tour for covered reasons, the plan provides reimbursement to catch up to your tour or return home.
  • Travel Delay –  Provides reimbursement for missed, prepaid travel arrangements if you are delayed by a common carrier, natural disaster, unannounced strike, or other reasons as cited in the plan.
  • Medical Expense –  Reimburses covered medical expenses incurred in the event you become injured or sick during your trip.
  • Baggage / Personal Effects Protection –  Provides reimbursement in the event your luggage or personal effects are, lost, stolen, damaged or delayed during your trip.
  • Worldwide Emergency Assistance Services –  Provided by Carefree Travel Assistance; 24-hour emergency telephone assistance hotline for medical and travel related problems.

The cost of Tauck's Guest Protection is: $559  per person

This protection provides insurance coverage that applies only during the covered trip. You may have coverage from other sources that provides you with similar benefits but may be subject to different restrictions depending upon your other coverages. You may wish to compare the terms of this policy with your existing life, health, home and automobile policies. If you have any questions about your current coverage, call your insurer, insurance agent or broker.

This optional Guest Protection must be requested at time of booking and fee must be included with initial payment. Fees are based on costs as of July 1, 2021, and are subject to change. Details will be provided with written confirmation of your tour reservation. Guest Protection does not protect travel agent commissions. Reimbursements will be made according to original method of payment. The amount of any refund shall be reduced by any recoveries obtained by you from any third parties.

The Guest Protection plan waives cancellation fees outlined below, provided we are notified of cancellation before your tour departs. Tour cancellation fees are waived regardless of reason, without written notice, and Tauck will refund land tour cost.

To obtain your state-specific Certificate of Insurance that contains the complete terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of the certificate, visit .

If You Have To Cancel

If you cancel within 10 days of initial deposit Within the first 10 days after you place your initial deposit, you may cancel your reservation for any reason with no cancellation fees. If you cancel more than 10 days after initial deposit Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed bookings. These fees vary from tour to tour. Therefore, the following fees apply.

Cancellation Fees with Tauck's Guest Protection Plan:

Loss of Guest Protection fee, per person

Cancellation Fees without Tauck's Guest Protection Plan :

60 days or more before departure = $600 per person

59-8 days before departure = $900 per person

7-1 days before departure = $1500 per person

Time of cancellation will be when notice is received in our Wilton Woods, CT office.

In the event of an unforeseen circumstance beyond our control, Tauck reserves the right to amend the cancellation terms outlined herein.

Note:  All Guests, regardless of residency, who book a Tauck journey have the option of purchasing the Cancellation Waiver provided by Tauck in the event they need to cancel their trip after making their reservations. Tauck's Guest Protection, which includes both the Cancellation Fee Waiver and the Travel Insurance Benefits and Assistance Services described above, is not available to residents of Puerto Rico.

Travel Requirements For This Tour

Air Information and Luggage Restrictions

AIRFARE: Airfare to and from this destination is not included in the journey cost. If purchasing your air elsewhere, it is very important to provide us with your confirmed arriving and departing flight information no later than 3 weeks before your arrival date. Flight information can be submitted to Tauck (or verified, if you've already provided it) in the My Account section of

TAUCK AIRPORT TRANSFERS are included at the start and end of the journey between the airport and the Tauck hotel. Airport transfers are available for any pre tour or post tour hotel stays immediately consecutive to the tour, providing flight information is received in the Tauck office no later than three weeks in advance. Details on locating your transfer upon arrival to the tour start city will be included in your final documents.

AIRLINES and CHECKED LUGGAGE: Due to space limitations during your Tauck journey, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one average-size suitcase per person. Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and are free to revise luggage policies without notice. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies. PLEASE NOTE that if you are booked on a tour that includes on-tour flights, the checked luggage weight restrictions for these flights may be lower than the weight restrictions for your international flights.

Checked Luggage – General

Due to space restrictions, we ask that you please limit your checked luggage to one suitcase per person weighing no more than 50 pounds (23 kg) and with overall dimensions (length + width + height) not exceeding 62 inches (158 cm).

Besides complying with the Tauck restriction noted above, you should also be sure to research and comply with all airline baggage restrictions relating to your flights to and from your Tauck journey. Airlines have become much more strict in enforcing size and weight limits in recent years, and luggage exceeding airline standards for size or weight may result in expensive overage fees or other consequences.

Airlines are free to revise luggage policies without notice, and certain airlines have different baggage allowances for different classes of service. Researching and complying with airline luggage restrictions is the responsibility of the guest, and Tauck cannot be held responsible for any costs or disruptions to travel caused by the failure to research and comply with airline policies.

Tauck luggage tags will be provided by your Tauck Director on Day 1 of your itinerary. Please do not attach a Tauck luggage tag to any carry-on items, as the Tauck tags designate luggage that is to be handled and transferred by ground operators and hotel staff during your journey.

Carry-on Luggage - General

Although oversize bags and wheeled, carry-on luggage are popular for airline travel, they are often not convenient or appropriate for motor coach travel or for many on-tour flights. Most modern sightseeing motor coaches offer limited space for numerous or larger items. Space under seats or in the overhead rack is typically small, and designed to accommodate items like coats, hats, purses, and small camera bags, etc.

For your day-to-day travel while on tour, we recommend that you limit your hand luggage to a small, soft-sided carry-on piece, and that you bring only those items you need handy during the day such as make-up, medications, cameras, film, etc. Items too large to fit under the motor coach seat or on the overhead rack must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach, and may be inaccessible during daytime travel.

Health, Safety and Mobility

While drinking water is generally safe at all our hotels, bottled water will be available wherever the local water is not fit to drink. We also provide bottled water on the motor coaches.

If you are interested in sporting activities, many opportunities await you on this particular journey. Golfing is available at Mount Juliet Hotel & Spa, Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa, and Lough Erne Resort. You may rent clubs and purchase golf balls but you will have to bring your own footwear. Experience has taught us that the earlier you book your tee time the better – even ahead of your departure! If you decide you would like to play once you have arrived, your Tauck Director will endeavor to honor your request. Tennis facilities are available at several hotels including Mount Juliet Hotel & Spa and Aghadoe Heights Hotel. Fishing is possible at Mount Juliet Hotel & Spa. Horseback riding is available at Mount Juliet Hotel & Spa and Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa. You will have the opportunity to swim in the pool at several of the hotels used on this tour. Any expenses incurred in conjunction with these optional activities are at your own expense.

Ireland has introduced a ban on smoking in all enclosed places of work in Ireland. This includes all bars, night clubs, restaurants and hotels. Although the public spaces within the hotel are non-smoking, you may request a smoking guest room at your hotel.

Please check with your health insurance provider to determine whether you are covered while traveling. If you will not be covered under your current policy, we strongly suggest that you arrange for adequate coverage while on tour.

If you have a medical condition which might limit your participation in activities, please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice and notify us as soon as possible, if you have not already done so. We will advise your Tauck Director accordingly.

If you are a resident of the U.S., no vaccinations are currently required for travel to Ireland. For complete vaccination and inoculation information please contact your physician, the public health service in your area, or the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to obtain information regarding vaccinations that may be required for your journey. The Travelers' Health Section of the CDC operates a 24-hour "Travelers' Health Hotline" at 800-232-4636 (toll-free in the U.S.). You may also log on to the CDC website by clicking here.

If you are a resident of another country, please contact an embassy or consulate of Ireland to determine what vaccination(s) may be required for your travel.

The restaurants, hotels, caterers and numerous other partners we work with all do their best to accommodate special dietary requests from Tauck guests. However, given the diverse nature of those food providers (from small wineries to grand hotels to world-famous restaurants in more than 70 countries worldwide), some of our partners are better able than others to accommodate such requests. We therefore cannot guarantee that all dietary requests can be accommodated at every meal. Also, please note that where dietary requests can be accommodated, choices will frequently be limited.

The Best of Ireland involves a considerable amount of walking. To enjoy this tour, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances, often over unpaved and uneven surfaces. Some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot. The amount of walking you do, however, is at your discretion. The visits to the Cliffs of Moher, Kylemore Abbey and Giant's Causeway are challenging due to the steep climbs and long walks involved in the sightseeing.

Most hotels do not have special handicap access rooms. Mount Juliet Hotel & Spa does not have an elevator but there are guest rooms at ground level.

PLEASE NOTE: We regret that this Tauck itinerary cannot accommodate wheelchairs or motorized scooters. Likewise, we regret that we're unable to provide individual assistance to guests with walking difficulties or other personal needs. The responsibility of the Tauck Director who accompanies your trip is to ensure that the larger group enjoys a relaxing and informative journey, and he or she cannot be relied upon to provide ongoing individual assistance to any one guest. Guests requiring such individualized assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied companion who can provide it.

Reading List

We have compiled a reading list of recommended books to give you more information about the destinations you will be traveling to on your upcoming journey!

You can view the reading list  here.

The weather in Ireland can be variable, alternating between wet and cool days, and sunny and mild days. The climate is generally moderate throughout the country, tempered by the Atlantic Ocean Gulf Stream. Average high temperatures from April through October range from 55 to 65˚F (13 to 18˚C) and the average low temperatures range from 40 to 55˚F (4 to 13˚C). Ireland, like other European countries, has experienced unusually warm spells in recent summers. Ireland's greenery owes its notoriety to the frequent rainfall.

To read about current weather conditions, we suggest you log on to the Internet website by clicking here.

What To Pack

Bringing the right clothing for your trip is important – we've partnered with New Headings who provide an "easy-to-use, one-stop shop" for your Tauck travel needs, specifically selected for this trip. Click here to visit their site .

The weather in Ireland is moderate. Your journey is designed with leisure in mind. Dress for comfort and convenience with a wardrobe that is adaptable and allows for layering. Generally, during the day, casual, comfortable, cotton clothing is recommended. Cool weather at higher elevations or at night will require warmer, layered clothing. The Emerald Isle owes its name to its precipitation, so rain is to be expected anytime.

In Europe, especially in finer restaurants, it is generally customary to dress somewhat formally. Slacks or a dress for women and a jacket and tie for men are acceptable dining attire, although it is not required. It is advisable to avoid wearing jeans, sneakers or shorts for dinner. You may also wish to dress up a bit for the welcome reception and the farewell dinner, but by all means be comfortable.

You will find a hair dryer located in your hotel guest room. Irons and ironing boards are available upon request. Valet laundry and dry cleaning services are also available for a fee.

We recommend that you pack an adequate supply of your prescription medication in its original container to last through your entire journey, together with a copy of your doctor's prescription or a letter from your health-care provider on office stationery explaining that the medication has been prescribed for you, a list of the generic names of your medication, your travel documents and a change of clothing in your carry-on bag to avoid any inconvenience in the event that your flight or luggage is delayed.

Following is a list of recommended items to pack for your trip to Ireland:

  • Casual daytime wear – shorts, slacks, long and short-sleeved shirts
  • An optional jacket and tie for men
  • Casually elegant evening wear for ladies
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, hat
  • A light sweater or jacket for higher elevations or a breezy night
  • Binoculars (7x50 preferably)
  • Insect repellent
  • Camera, lenses, batteries, memory cards and chargers
  • Lightweight, comfortable, sturdy walking shoes that have already been broken-in
  • Travel alarm clock/cell phone with alarm functions (many hotels do not have clocks in the rooms)
  • Rain poncho and collapsible umbrella
  • Reusable zipper-lock bags or other waterproof bags
  • Daypack for camera equipment
  • Sundries and toiletries that may be difficult to find en route
  • Copies of your travel documents that should be secured in the safe in your hotel room while traveling

I consider Vagabond the best choice because they are flexible and open to suggestions ...

It was obvious that Vagabond's only goal is to make sure their customers have an excellent experience while visiting Ireland. Highly recommend!

TripAdvisor Rating

Our Driftwood Tour was amazing. Having a small group made the adventure so much more fun.

Having a smaller vehicle let us explore places that big buses couldn’t reach.

My only dilemma is what trip to book with them next.

7-Day Great Atlantic Adventure Small Group Tour

"Had such a good trip with Overland! I did the 7 day tour the last week of April but our bus had people on the 5 day and the 10 day tour as well. It was a nice mix and I’m so happy I went with the small group tour- made it much easier to talk to others in the group. Our guides (Conor and Pat) were both great- knowledgeable and helpful! The hotels we stayed at were all clean and the food options were amazing. I enjoyed the small towns so much more than the larger cities but everyone in all the places we visited were so kind and welcoming. There are plenty of grocery stores and pharmacy’s along the way so no worries there. I ended up sick at the end of my trip and the company was so helpful- I very much felt taken care of and knew my options. As far as the activities go- they give plenty of options for different levels. The kayaking in Dingle (as someone who has never done it before) was a struggle because we had members of our group who were more experienced so we spent most of the time just trying to catch up. If you want to enjoy the same scenery (and skip the wet suit), the walk up to the lighthouse looked equally as nice. I wanted to try a lot of the activities even though I’m not a super active person because I didn’t want to miss out but honestly the alternatives give you the same views so don’t stress about it!! I wish I had seen a review on that before I went so I wanted to make sure to mention it here. You should get an email from Overland after booking through Tourradar so if you don’t get one for some reason make sure to reach out to them before the trip. Great experience overall- would definitely recommend!"

5-Day Spectacular South and West small group Tour of Ireland

"This was our first tour and it totally exceeded our expectations. Ireland is an amazing country. We got to see the usual, like Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Castle, and much more. Everyday was an adventure with wonderful scenery, amazing hikes, kayaking in coves, bike rides through the incredible Killarney national Park and more!!! We could never had been able to do and see so much had we had been driving ourselves, can you imagine the stress of the small roads. Our tour guide, Marie was welcoming, witty, knowledgeable and made our holiday really easy. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you Marie for making our tour the best. We can't wait to come back again!"

Introduction to Ireland Tour

Introduction to Ireland

"This was a great tour of Ireland. I had been once 35 yrs ago, and this was so much better. Hugh, our guide, was very informative and always on top of things, the bus was comfortable, and all the hotels were very nice. Meals were better than expected, plenty of time on our own, never rushed. After 7 days, we all felt we truly "saw it all" and got the most out of a short trip. Highly recommended for Americans with limited vacation time."

"Fantastic experience. I could not have planned so much fun on my own. We found you can see more by getting away from the cities and staying a few days along the coast or in a beautiful town like Killarney. Would do it again with WildnHappy!"

10 Day Wild Irish Experience - Small Group Tour Tour

10 Day Wild Irish Experience - Small Group Tour

"We participated in the 10-day Wild Irish Experience. The actual tour included everything described in the promotional materials, but was in actuality much better. Our guide/driver for the tour was Anthony. He was OUTSTANDING and made our Irish experience the very best it could be. He was always willing to answer our questions - and we asked a lot of questions! The small group tour format made it wonderful coming to know our fellow tour participants - they were delightful and made the experience even more memorable. The tour bus was spacious and comfortable. Each of the B&B's we stayed in were comfortable and the breakfast fare was amazing. This was our first, and possibly our only opportunity to come to Ireland. It could not have been a better experience. The only negative of our overall experience with TourRadar was a lack of assistance in finding accommodations for the night prior and the night following our tour. Coming to a foreign country has a great deal of unknowns and assistance from locals in finding/recommending these accommodations would have been greatly appreciated. A request was sent and the response was not helpful - we were basically on our own to find these accommodations. I'm sure if we had had an established contact directly with Irish Experience Tours they would have provided the requested information."

7 Day Atlantic Way Experience - Small Group Tour Tour

7 Day Atlantic Way Experience - Small Group Tour

"TLDR: Mother (51) and daughter (25). Amazing guide who clearly loves his home and is a wealth of knowledge. Excellent range of places visited, hit most well-known places and some places we didn’t know. Great mixture of old and new, natural beauty and history. The people on our tour definitely made it as they were fantastic. Ample opportunity for own time as well as group tour parts. We joined this tour in August 2022 as a mother (51) and daughter (25). We spent 49 days touring UK and Ireland and the 7 days we spent on this trip was probably the absolute highlight of our trip. Kieran was our guide and he was fantastic. A wealth of local knowledge (complete with music to match locations!), excellent driver (through some tricky roads – coming from Australia where our roads are rather big in comparison). Kieran knew all the best places to eat and he ALWAYS knew where a toilet was along the entire route. He was friendly and approachable and obviously loved his home country. The bus was very good. We had 9 travelers on our trip which was excellent. We had plenty of space on the bus and it was very comfortable. Due to it being a small bus we could go to places where the larger coaches were unable to go. Day 1: We started at Portumna castle which was very interesting. There is a café here but my mother and I had packed a lunch and ate in the cute little gardens there. We then headed to Galway. The accommodation in Galway was excellent. We had picked the backpacker style accommodation due to cheaper price but in Galway we all stayed in a lovely B&B. We had a lovely room with two beds and an ensuite. The owners of the B&B were very friendly and served some delicious hot breakfast which had many many options. In Galway we had a walking tour with a local guide who was both friendly and informative. Galway would definitely benefit from having more time to explore but afternoon and evening we had to explore were a great taster. There is a shopping centre there which has public toilets but you must have exact change in coins. Day 2: We next went to Doolin and the Aran Islands. We took a ferry to the Aran island which was rather choppy! There are indoor and outdoor seating. Take warm coats and a beanie if you want to sit outside. There are many options on how to see the island, biking, horse and trap, walking or a mini bus tour. There will be heaps of people trying to sell you one when you get off so have an idea of what you want to do first. We elected to take a bus around as A) we aren’t exactly the fittest people and b) we really wanted to see the prehistoric hill fort Dún Aonghasa which is at the end of the island. The forte was absolutely amazing. The climb is tricky but absolutely worth it 100%. It costs 5 euro for adults. There is a little café there where you can get food, there is also a kiosk where we got delicious crepes and they also have ice cream. You can also buy numerous souvenirs including the famous Aran island sweaters. Would have liked to either arrive earlier on the island as the last ferry was at 4pm which didn’t leave a long time for exploring and meant there was quite a bit of anxiety to get back to the port and waiting for our island bus driver to return. There was JUST enough room for the 9 of us to get onto the ferry (in fact they did not let anyone else on after us!). After we returned many of us went back to our rooms for a sleep. My mother and I stayed at the rainbow hostel. Since COVID they only put parties travelling together into a room so while we had a backpacker’s style room there was just us. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in – even better than my bed at home! The tour info states that we would get breakfast at each accommodation but unfortunately the rainbow hostel has stopped serving breakfast since COVID so luckily we had some rolls left that we had for breakfast otherwise we’d have been pretty hungry. Kieran had kindly booked us a table at the local pub where we all ate dinner together. The pub had delicious food and after 9pm had local musicians playing Irish folk music which was fantastic, we sat right next to where they were playing and thoroughly enjoyed it. Day 3: Cliffs of Moher, ferry and sheep dog demo! Most of our party started the day with a hike to the cliffs of Moher where Kieran dropped them of at the best spot to start and as a keen hiker himself had lots of advice for the departing party. He then drove the rest of us to the cliffs. There is an amazing welcome and information centre and the cliffs themselves. After the cliffs we drove to a ferry across the River Shannon. Once we crossed the river, we headed to a sheep dog farm where we had an awesome sheep dog demonstration, met the cutest mini donkey’s, fed some lambs, cuddled a puppy and watched were treated to some performances by the owners of the farm. We then headed into Dingle where we spent two nights. Mum and I stayed at a hotel which had a large 18 bed dorm. The dorm was well set out and provided lovely sheets but was far too big and I would not have chosen this if I was booking dorm accommodation myself (we stayed in many places throughout out trip and many nights in mixed and female only dorms but never booked one so large). On the plus side the breakfast was incredible and I still think about the two breakfasts we had here. It was also a very lovely dining room with fabric napkins and full table service. The front desk and night concierge were also fantastic. It was a short walk into town and close to an ALDI. We had dinner in the Dingle Pub which had nice food and an amazing famous Irish dancer (who unfortunately was rather rude to some other customers!) Day 4: On day 4 we went on an absolutely glorious drive along the dingle peninsula. The weather was beautiful and the views were exceptional. Definitely a highlight of the tour. A bunch of us then decided to go on a boat tour through the dingle Harbour (this is not included in this tour but was something listed an optional extra). Kieran was excellent at sourcing other activities for us to do in down time, he organized a beer tasting at a local bar for one of our other tour members. Day 5: On this day we drove the Ring of Kerry which was spectacular (despite the weather – fog and rain!). we then went to Muckross abbey in Killarney national park. There is an absolutely amazing tree in the centre here – will let you discover all about it yourself! We also went to the Torc waterfall which was beautiful. We also at “Ladies View” and got some amazing photos – our group loved each other so much we took some group shots here. We stayed in a hostel that was primarily being used for Ukrainian refugees. We were provided a private room and got our breakfast supplied at a nice little café down the road. Day 6: On this day we went to the Blarney Castle! We lined up for a while and tried to kiss the blarney stone! It is much harder than it looks particularly for shorties haha. They clean the stone between each person for COVID protection and while the line is long it goes through the entire castle so you get to see the actual castle while you wait. It is quite tricky to climb some of the towers due to the very small spiral stair cases so be careful if you have any difficulty with mobility. There is also a very cool poisons garden! Unfortunately, we only had a few hours here and it was primarily used up with the actual castle so would have been nice to have some more time here however due to the nature of seeing lots on a tour it was enough time to see the highlights. We ended the day in beautiful seaside Kinsale. We all shared a beautiful meal together at Hamlets – our last evening together. Day 7: We ended out tour with two castles! Cahir Castle & Rock of Cashel. Cahir castle was amazing, we did a group tour however I did feel like we had to rush through this castle in order to move onto the next castle tour and to get back to Dublin in time. We did the tour and then had to immediately leave for the next place. We then went to the Rock of Cashel which was one of the most impressive castles we saw."

5-Day Escape to the South West Small-Group Tour from Dublin

"I had a great time on the 5 Day Escape to the South West tour from Dublin. Our tour guide and driver, Liam, was very knowledgeable of Irish history and created a friendly atmosphere in the small group he had a lot to tell us about the places we visited and general trivia about Ireland . We were lucky to get good weather on most days and the sights and landscapes were beautiful. Liam tried to accommodate the tour as best he could with regards to the timing and weather and avoided places where there was an influx of tourists so we were able to see and do more. I had a wonderful time in Ireland, the people and music have left me with warm and special memories of the country."

"The communication/paperwork could use a little fine tuning, but overall the value was definitely there. This tour brings you through absolutely spectacular areas of Ireland, with enough downtime to not feel too rushed. The hotels/food was nicer than we expected for the price."

Reviews of Fully Guided Tours in Ireland

"Amazing tour, itinerary and guide! See my review for some recommendations for improvements: I recently toured with Overland Ireland on the 7-Day Great Atlantic Adventure Small Group Tour in June 2023. My experience was amazing. Ireland is a beautiful country and Overland Ireland has put together an amazing (and active!) itinerary to allow you to take it all in with a guide that was top notch. I have a few comments/recommendations that I'd like to point out, only to encourage Overland Ireland to consider implementing changes (where applicable), to further enhance & improve future tours for everyone including the guests/travelers, the guide and Overland (Company practices and the home office/admin team). Please find them below along with my opinions about my experience from start to finish about the entire trip for those interested in selecting Overland Ireland. 1. Finding and booking the tour: I don't recall how I eventually came across Overland Ireland in my search for 'Ireland tours' online, but I would recommend Overland invest more in SEO & Marketing. They aren't a top Google search result, and should be (vs affiliate links) as they have a competitive tour offering. TripAdvisor reviews are linked on the Overland website, but it wasn't until after the tour completed that I was made aware (even as a savvy internet reader) that more reviews are available on TourRadar. Recommendation: Link more visibly to TourRadar (and other review sites) on Overland Ireland's website so travelers can read more reviews. The more information/testimonials/reviews travelers can get access to, especially as a first time traveler with Overland, the better. Also, look into doing short traveler testimonials (videos or short quotes/blurbs) during the tours or at the end, and post to Overland's website/social media platforms to get travelers to highlight something about their experience on tour. It helps build the connection and trust (legitimacy of the company) for someone is purchasing a tour from (especially as a foreigner). Reviewing the various tours, the availability of the tour (which one and the date you want to select), selecting the tour and paying for the tour was easy to do on the Overland Ireland website. There are tour itinerary summaries (PDFs) you can read to get a general idea of the activities that you'll get to do on each on their website (after providing your name/email). I HIGHLY recommend reading through these to know what you are signing up for! One issue I did have related to payment was that I had to update (change) my credit card information between the two payments that are required (down payment and remaining fee 60 days out), and while I did contact Overland (via email & phone) with the new credit card information to use on the second payment and was ensured it would be used, when the second payment was processed, they used the original card incorrectly. After a few emails back and forth, they processed the second payment with the correct credit card. Prior to booking, I encourage travelers to read the Liability of Indemnity Waiver & Terms and Conditions Agreement and once booked, get travelers insurance as Overland assumes no liability for many/most things that can happen/arise while on the tour. Protect yourself especially as some of the tours are extremely active and COVID (more on that later) remains in existence. 2. Pre-Tour Information: You are sent a written tour itinerary (PDF) for the tour you have chosen, once purchased, and it's about ~90% correct. While on the tour, I referenced the itinerary and there were a few instances, such as Day 3 in Dingle that advises you can e-bike Slea Head loop (which I didn't find to be 100% true) and on Day 4, that there is a 2.5 hr hike of the Cliffs of Moher (which I also didn't find true - instead you are given a timeframe for which to go on your own to explore the Cliffs of Moher). Recommendation: Revisit and refine the itinerary that is sent to travelers to ensure the activity information is directionally correct. Overland Ireland does not provide a list of the accommodations that you will be staying at each night of the tour. I wanted to know where we would be staying each night of the tour, and finally, after various attempts through Overland's generic email address and Facebook group, I was able to get a list of the accommodations albeit just the accommodation name. I still had to look up the addresses and create my own spreadsheet with accommodation name and address to map them all out (I found this slightly frustrating to have to do as it should be provided by Overland Ireland). Recommendation: Provide a list of the accommodations atleast 2-3 days prior to the tour departure with name, full address and date the traveler is staying at each. 3. Day 1: Meeting up with the tour & van: This tour's meetup point was the Ashling Hotel in Dublin. Upon arrival at the Ashling, there were several other tour vans there (from other companies), causing a bit of confusion (and panic) as to where my tour van was. There were actually two Overland tours leaving from the Ashling and once everyone figured this out, we waited until our respective sprinter vans showed up. For note, the Ashling doesn't have any knowledge of the tours that have pickups out front. Recommendation: Overland should attempt to partner with the hotel property to put up signage or give their front desk information on using their location as a pick up spot, or, have someone from Overland there to greet travelers (someone who is not the tour guide with the van). Alternatively, seek an alternate spot to start the tour, one where you can advertise that it's an Overland pickup location, so travelers will feel secure knowing that they are in the right spot to meet the van. There's nothing like arriving and looking for your tour van before the 8am sharp time (that's advised in all the communications!) and no one knows where the van is. For some travelers this can cause anxiety. Thankfully though, within a reasonable amount of time, the van arrived and everyone was loaded and we were off on the adventure. 4. Transportation The vans are clean and comfortable, holding up to ~15 passengers in a 2/1 leather captain's chair configuration, plus the driver. The windows are big to take in the views and there are USB ports to charge your phone/electronics throughout the day, but no WiFi onboard. Luggage goes in the back of the van and there are overhead bins to place small items (like a backpack). Recommendation: Add Wifi. Also - for the overhead bins - please consider adding some type of 'holding mechanism' like a bungee cord/rope to keep contents placed in the overhead bins from falling down while taking to a curve on the road. Items overhead weren't able to be safely secured as there's nothing to hold stuff in. 5. Tour Schedule/Stops/Activities etc: The 7-Day Great Atlantic Adventure Small Group Tour is an EXTREMELY active & at times a fast-paced tour (walking, biking, hiking, kayaking, etc.) all in the same day. Again, I highly recommend travelers read through the proposed tour itinerary prior to booking to ensure that you are going to be physically able to do all of the activities listed/included. In learning how the company has grown and shifted its core focus over the years from where they originally started as a high-impact activity based offering to the more commercial 'tour Ireland in a van' - I definitely got the sense that they are continually evolving to find balance of activity on this Zest tour. Recommendation: To help travelers understand the physical activity on each of the Zest or Jewel tours, add a ranking scale (say '1' (low) to '5' (extreme), either numerical or graphic) that defines the physical activity & intensity needed/required for each tour. Is it possible, without imposing on GDPR/Privacy, to ask travelers about their physical activity level? If the guides have this information in advance, it can further support their recommendations for certain activities, such as advising to pay an additional cost on Inishmore for an e-bike to make the excursion a little easier (I highly recommend this!) for those that may need it. Our tour guide had a wealth of knowledge about the activities and what was physically required of each, but giving them this additional information about the travelers on board (given various ages and physical ability levels), I would think could further aide them in providing more bold guidance/recommendations to the travelers. 6. Pace: The tour does seem on some days to be 'rushed' and you feel like you 'can't catch your breath'. The activity level was expected, but some days were jammed packed too much. As you are on a tour with other people, it is challenging to get people to be ready at the designated time or to arrive/depart at the requested time - which then impacts the driving time from one point to the next to stay on schedule and the viewing time at a tour site/stop. The tour guide was amazing in navigating these challenges, but there has to be a way to reduce the stress/anxiety put on both the guide and the guest - so that the guide can do their job accordingly and the traveler doesn't feel stressed to rush and see/do something and then feel rushed to move onto the next scheduled stop/destination. Recommendation: As WhatsApp is used while on the tour, figure out a way to use it more (or other app) to provide 'day-of' information to the travelers on what the itinerary is for each specific day, the estimated time frames for each activity and the driving time/distance. Perhaps have the guides send the itinerary for the day in the morning (via WhatsApp). The home office/admin team could provide these draft itineraries in advance to the guides and the guides can then edit on the fly as needed (things come up each day and itineraries change!)). On the jam-packed days, it was hard to remember all of the logistics and estimated times of when you'd be at a site/destination, the estimated time of the next meal, and the estimated time we'd check into the accommodation and times to be ready to leave etc. As a traveler, you're focused on taking in all the sites (at quick speed!) but also trying to remember what's on the itinerary for the day to pace yourself. It was a bit of information overload that could be reduced by using WhatsApp more to share that information. Another recommendation, if not done already, the Overland home office/admin team should do 'ride-alongs' to review the schedule, timelines, challenges and 'every-day' activity that the guides and travelers experience while out on tour and make modifications as applicable. I would hope that the home office/admin team takes the feedback from the guides on the challenges/issues/problems (both good and bad) that are incurred while out on tour and incorporate changes for the future. They are the eyes and ears of the on-the-road operation and they know EVERYTHING and how to make improvements (for everyone)! Additional specific recommendations include: - In Killarney, at the National Park, consider extending the biking time to 2.5 or 3 hrs, if possible. It was difficult, timing wise, at warp speed to bike all the way to Torc Waterfall, stop at Muckross House to grab something to eat, stop for a few seconds to take some pictures along the route and then make it back to the bike shop. As someone who wanted to 'see it all', while doable in 2 hrs, extending another 30-60 mins could make this more enjoyable. - Upon arrival into Galway, we weren't able to check into the hotel, but were able to store our luggage until 3pm. Instead of having some time to explore/grab lunch, as our arrival was at 12p, we were pushed right into a walking tour. I would recommend pushing back the walking tour until the later afternoon (since the schedule allows for the guests to have the evening to themselves) and allow the guests to grab lunch first. We weren't able to savor the tour as much as we would have liked as we were all hungry. - In Westport, due to rain and unsafe hiking conditions, we did not climb Crogh Patrick, but instead, our guide gave us fantastic alternate options to hike Diamond Hill or explore Kylemore Abbey. Our group was able to split into two and choose one of the two options to do. I did feel bad for the hikers who had hiked and then had to sit in their hiking clothes in the van back to Dublin as it was the last day of the tour. I'd recommend an alternate route on the last day of the tour to allow people to freshen up before sitting for 3+ hrs back to Dublin from the West coast. 7. Accommodations: There was a mix of B&Bs and hotels across the 7 day tour. They are clean and accommodating and breakfast was included. Essentials like hairdryers and coffee were available in most. For note, most B&Bs do not have any air conditioning but will have a small fan in each of the rooms (some B&Bs need larger sized fans as it did get quite hot in some locations) nor do they have elevators (pack light or be ready to lift your suitcase!). They only accommodation that I felt stood out in a negative way was in Dingle, at the Dingle Marina Lodge, which I'm told is owned by Overland. I found this accommodation to be the least favorable in that it felt dated (almost like a hostel). Recommendation: I'd recommend Overland invest in renovations and improvements to make this match the level of look and feel as Blindgate B&B in Kinsale or Maloney House B&B in Doolin - those are fantastic places to stay. You felt at home, especially at Maloney House B&B. Given also that it's owned by Overland, we spent 2 days here on the tour (I'm assuming for revenue purposes), which I think we could have moved on after 1 and stayed in a different location. In Galway, we stayed at The Dean hotel. I was asked to put down a credit card for incidentals ($50) at check-in and I was incorrectly charged for breakfast in the morning (therefore paying for it twice), even though I'd given my room number to the wait staff. I was not happy about these two incidents and they caught me off guard. I'd recommend Overland Ireland inform guests that they'll have to put a credit card on file (unless my experience was a one-off error). I'm still awaiting a response from Overland at the time of this review if I'll be refunded for my breakfast charge. In Westport, the Wyatt's rooms smelled of weed (as the windows were open and my room faced a back alleyway). I didn't appreciate this. 8. Communications: We used WhatsApp while on the tour, which was great. It allowed for constant contact with fellow travelers and the guide to ask questions or share pictures and the like. Turnaround times for email inquiries into Overland home office/admin team vary. I've had both quick and slow response times to my inquiries. They are active in their Facebook groups and via their general email inbox, but for me, from start to finish, as noted, I had both quick and slow response times. Recommendation: As with all companies, put KPIs in place for response times to reply to traveler inquiries (aka Customer Service). If an inquiry is being worked on, let the traveler know, don't just go dark on them. 9. COVID Covid unfortunately came on board our tour and impacted some of the travelers. While we live in a world where COVID and the such will always be around, I was extremely bothered by the fact that people within the same party as a positive COVID case and who had been in close contact with the person were allowed back on the tour and in the van (for another day, until they officially removed themselves from the tour). This put other guests and ESPECIALLY the tour guide at risk, which I did not agree with. The van was cleaned and windows were kept down to allow for circulation as we were driving around, and we were told that tests and masks were readily available, but it definitely had a negative impact for some time on the morale of some of the travelers on the tour once we were informed. We were given the opportunity to voice our opinion on how the COVID impacted travelers could/could not carry on with the tour and we felt heard in our opinions, but I strongly feel that more enforceable contingency plans and policies should be put in place by Overland and adhered to. Recommendation: Re-review Overland's policy and put contingency plans in place should these issues arise again. Clear and directive policies that all guests are to follow should be provided upon the purchase of the tour and followed throughout the tour, no exceptions. 10. Day 7/End of Tour/Departure The tour finished up at Heuston Station in Dublin, where it was easy to find transportation (various options) to your destination post-tour. 11. Tour Guide Finn was the epitome of what you want in a tour guide. Five Stars *****. Our tour was challenged in various unexpected ways and he remained an absolute professional who went above and beyond to make sure you as the traveler got the most out of your tour. The love he has for his country comes through in his amazing ability to share stories, historical facts and conversation. Finn always had great recommendations for restaurants and how to navigate the sites we stopped at and also had back-up plans ready to go for weather related hindrances. It's clearly evident that the tour guides are the true stars of Overland. They put a lot of effort into the work they do and it doesn't go without saying that Finn's ability to cater to each individual traveler as well as the whole group, including the various demands and challenges that arose while out on the road was phenomenal. Overland needs to know they have an amazing employee in Finn. Don't ever let him go! If you're lucky to have Finn as your guide, you're in for an amazing, memorable time. I am looking to book another trip as it was an unforgettable experience. 12. Would I do it over again or tour with Overland Ireland again? Absolutely! I had an amazing time. As a female solo traveler, there was a great mix of being able to do solo activities as well as group activities, as I desired. I got to meet amazing people from around the world and see the beauty of Ireland. I would give 5 stars, but I do feel that there is some improvement to be made (and the tour I was on was definitely a case study to learn from), as I note here in my review. I am looking to return to Ireland and going on another Overland Ireland adventure and when I do, I'd like to be able to give Overland 5 stars. I'll be booking my return trip soon!"
"Best of Ireland – Our friends recommended Trafalgar and it didn’t disappoint! We had a wonderful experience touring all over Ireland. We also had our wedding anniversary and Trafalgar bought a nice present for us. Liam, our tour director, was knowledgeable about every place we were visiting and passing through. He had a wonderful sense of humor and kept the group engaged at all times. We had a great environment. Shane, our driver, made us feel safe throughout the entire trip. Our favorite part of the tour was the Cliffs of Moher! All the extra activities were ideal to know more about Ireland’s culture and history. We had wonderful weather and we were able to enjoy Ireland’s beautiful scenery the utmost."
"The tour was amazing, the guides were very kind and friendly. And the different sites were incredible. Thank you very much Wild N' Happy!!!"
"Our tour guide Mark was the best! He was very patient, knowledgeable, kind, and honest when giving us recommendations for things to do. He was very flexible and always gave us other options if the weather was bad. I appreciated that he asked the group as a whole for their opinions before making a decision if a change in the plan was needed. He also constantly checked in with the group, and made sure we made plenty of rest stops so we weren't in the van for too long. The trip was so much fun and I liked that it was a smaller tour (14 people). I also loved that our accommodations were bed and breakfasts/inns rather than hotels/motels. It added to the magic of the trip. We really enjoyed our time and would definitely recommend to anyone!"
"We had a great time with Globus, Jonathan our guide, and Norman our driver. The value of the tour is very high. Breakfast and many dinners, high quality, clean, and comfortable hotels, excellent food, so many additional tours and sites to see are included. The guide was so knowledgeable about where we were, what we are seeing, and what we should not miss at each site. We were able to do things like a sheep farm tour with scone cooking, behind the scenes tours at castles or Waterford Crystal. We never would have even known about so many things to do and see in Ireland. We made so many friends on this trip and everyone we traveled with was positive and ready to have fun. We will definitely be traveling with Globus again."

Tour Information

We recommend that you read carefully through the following section before booking this small guided group tour in Ireland. It includes important information and what you can expect during the tour, regarding accommodation, the tour guide, and more. You’ll also find more practical advice and attraction recommendations in our online Ireland Travel Guide .

AGE & PARTICIPATION Please note that this tour is not recommended for families with young children. As the legal drinking age in Ireland is 18, those aged 17 and under will not take part in the distillery tour.

OUR NORDIC VISITOR GUIDES This tour package includes the professional service of an experienced Irish tour guide, who will drive you around Ireland. They will offer their local knowledge and share hidden gems and stories with you along the way. The guide will also act as the logistical organiser for the group, ensuring that everything is running smoothly and that you’re having a good time during your holiday.

If you join a Nordic Visitor small group tour, you will get a personal experience of Ireland. As an expert and a local, your tour guide will be a valuable resource for questions about local customs, language, food and other practical travel information.

There will be one guide per tour, who will drive and lead the tour aboard a comfortable, high-quality mini-bus.

ACCOMMODATION Our team of Ireland travel experts carefully selects hotels, B&Bs, and guesthouses around the country based on excellent ratings, personal experience and comfort.

Due to the historic nature of the properties included in the tour, room sizes and views may vary. Please note that in Ireland room types are based on European standard sizes, which means they are smaller than in North America.

Many of the rooms can only be accessed by stairs and none of the properties have elevators. Triple rooms are not available for this tour, only single and double rooms. Please contact us for booking assistance if your group contains 3 or more people.

FOOD & DRINK A daily breakfast buffet is included at the accommodation during your stay. You will also enjoy 5 included dinners, as per the package inclusions (drinks are not included). They will usually include either a set dinner menu or a dinner buffet with a good variety of local fresh ingredients.

Please notify your travel consultant in advance of any dietary restrictions or allergies.

Other meals are not included, but the guide will make sure to stop along the way for you to pick up snacks, drinks and lunch.

LUGGAGE This tour is by mini-bus and so, to ensure comfortable seating for everyone, there is a limit to the size and amount of luggage you can bring. Each guest is allowed 1 large suitcase or bag, which can be stored in the back of the van, and 1 smaller item (e.g., a small backpack or day bag) for daily essentials.

The guidance size for the large bag is no more than 158 cm (62 inches), when the length, width and height is added together. It should also not exceed more than 20 kg (44 pounds). Unfortunately carry-on suitcases (cabin bags) are too large to store inside the van in the overhead racks.

If you have any questions about luggage, your Nordic Visitor travel consultant will be able to assist you.

FITNESS & ACTIVITY LEVEL Please note that this tour includes walking at some of the sightseeing stops. This means you need to be prepared and able to walk between 1-3 kilometres (up to 2 miles) on certain days. You also need to be able to carry your own luggage when boarding the bus each day.

WEATHER CONDITIONS Please note that the tour programme is dependent upon weather conditions. That means that your itinerary may need to be altered if these conditions aren’t favourable during your visit. In the case of major changes to the itinerary, you will be notified and we will do our best to make sure that your experience is not be affected.

CUSTOMISING YOUR TOUR As you’ll be travelling as part of a guided group tour, your itinerary for this portion of your trip is set. But you can still customise other parts of your package.

For instance, you could add extra nights in Dublin before or after the guided portion of your trip. This will give you more time to explore the Irish capital city at your own pace. You can add these additional days while booking your package online.

You might also like to add optional excursions and day trips to your itinerary.

CURRENCY RATE All bookings are billed in Euro (EUR). Prices displayed in other currencies are indicative only and based on the daily exchange rate. Therefore, conversions from EUR to other currencies will fluctuate from day to day.

AFTER BOOKING WITH NORDIC VISITOR After booking your package online, you will be contacted within 2 business days by one of our travel consultants. They will serve as your dedicated contact person for all your travel needs before, during and even after your trip.

At that time, they’ll confirm the availability of your tour. Then the booking process starts, which may take a few weeks. Once this is done, your travel consultant will provide you with all the details of your trip. You will also receive more information about what to expect during your trip.

CARBON OFFSETTING YOUR TOUR Nordic Visitor is working on offsetting the estimated carbon footprint of your package. We’ve partnered with an environmental fund in Iceland to carbon offset all our tours. Carbon offsetting your international flights is not included, but we highly recommend you look into possibilities with your airline or directly through a local environment fund.
