I Booked with RSD celebrate birthday celebration 🎉

I Booked with RSD, to celebrate 🎉 my birthday 🎂. The tour guides made my day especially special. The other travellers were friendly and made the holiday more enjoyable. RSD is excellent for all inclusive package holidays including the excursions which makes it more enjoyable and interesting. RSD prices are great, good value for money.

Dear Margaret Russell, Thank you very much for your feedback regarding your recent trip. Warm regards, RSD Travel Team

Three great holidays.

I have used RSD three times and had a great holiday on each occasion. The holidays were excellent value in good to excellent hotels. You have to bear on mind that you will have three visits to out of town warehouses that will try to flog you handmade carpets, silver and leather. If you don't want to buy, you can go off to the coffee shop and wait for the others. The guides have been good and the hotel food excellent.

RSD Indian Tour Excels

Cultural tour of India excelling with an outstanding guide. I have high expectations of RSD tours, but Devendra Singh raised this trip to another level. He handled the range of Indian culture and heritage sites impeccably and was able to unite an internationally diverse coachload of 36 by his positive approach to human relationships. This was an unforgettable and rejuvenating experience. I could even cope with 38 degree heat, basking in the glow of genuine concern and attention to detail.

Went to book a potential trip with…

Went to book a potential trip with them, told a price over the phone in the evening to find the price had doubled the following morning when a invoice arrived in my inbox. Phoned to complain to be told I must have been told about the additional costs on the original phone call, which I hadn’t. So annoyed by now I told them I wouldn’t be continuing with the booking and would like to cancel. I was put on hold but not put on hold to hear the phone operator having a conversation with one of her colleges and saying “I would love a coffee got a right stroppy one here” at that point I was cut off. Disappointed with the customer service the rude staff, the hidden charges. I would avoid at all cost. And still waiting for cancellation email

Returned from Cyprus trip in May

Returned from Cyprus trip in May. Really enjoyed the cultural part but the hard sell at carpet, jewellery and leather outlets was overwhelming. At these places your bank details are demanded despite not buying. Since returning home my bank accounts have been targeted. The hotels we stayed at were not up to standard (the first hotel had a mosque across the road so no sleep, the second a building sit across the road) and it is a wonder no one got food poisoning as the hot food was most certainly not. Inially rsd took no notice of my complaints until I contacted ABTA and suddenly they want copies of my bank account (which I refused, and was told they could not consider my complaints until received), Will never use this company again. I have travelled all over the world and for the first time was so glad to be home.

My first experience with RSD was to doubt their claims. We now know that they provide wonderful cheap holidays

My first experience with RSD was to Turkey. I was very reluctant to go as it seemed a con. They provided everything in the brochure. Since then I have been to the Cappadocia tour, the Northern Cyprus Tour, the Crete Tour and we are booked for the Croatia Tour. We are very surprised that people do not realise that the visits to carpet factories, jewellery stores, leather exhibitions etc. help make our holiday cheaper. We are very happy at the wonderful places we have visited and the high quality hotels where we have enjoyed the facilities and the wonderful food. We cannot understand the reviews that differ from our own.

Our fourth and worst holiday with RSD…

Our fourth and worst holiday with RSD to northern Cyprus the last hotel supposedly 5?star was terrible bathroom and room looks as if it hadn’t been done since the 70s we weren’t in the main hotel vinu palace looked really nice however now a casino we had meals there but paid extra for all inclusive £444 as a couple we lived on bread sticks Cheese it was awful couldn’t eat it lots of people were Ill. We endured the room as couldn’t move us. Wrote to TSD they just dismissed it and don’t want to know. We shall not be going with them again although our 3 holidays before we’re ok. They offered £50 voucher which is an insult . Not very good customer service so if anything is wrong don’t expect RSD to put anything right not interested I am most disappointed with them we hadn’t been for 3 years with them so it looks like standards have really slipped

Excellent service, excellent holidays!

We have had several trips with RSD Travel, good value and well organised. Our holiday to Morocco was cancelled because of Covid-19 by email and this was followed up by a phone call. We asked for a refund and received it in full several weeks later without further prompting. We are very impressed with RSD both the customer service and the holidays we have enjoyed with them.

A trip of a lifetime with 5* service throughout

Easy to book the two week trip with very helpful customer service staff at RSD. The trip itself was amazing from start to finish. The flights on Gulf Air via Bahrain to Delhi were comfortable, left on time and with excellent in cabin service. We were met at Delhi airport by our guide and thereafter were looked after royally by him, his fantastic driver and very helpful assistant throughout our two week stay in India. All the hotels were of a very high 4* plus standard, the food was excellent and the sightseeing trips were all breathtaking, if somewhat exhausting so you need to be relatively fit and healthy to keep going with early starts and late finishes each day, but it is so worth it for what you get to experience. Nothing was too much trouble for the RSD team in India who went above and beyond to make our trip so memorable. I would thoroughly recommend RSD and we have already booked with them to go to South Africa later this year.

I have been on 2 holidays with RSD and…

I have been on 2 holidays with RSD and have thoroughly enjoyed them. The North Cyprus tour was brilliant. We had an additional 7 days at a 5 star hotel. The hotel was in a remote setting but we actually enjoyed relaxing in such a beautiful setting and the use of the fabulous spa. You are paying a mere pittance to enjoy the holidays they provide. We went on the 7 day tour to Turkey which meant moving from hotel to hotel but we saw some incredible places we would never have visited. The food on the tour to Turkey was not great but the North Cyprus tour was excellent.

I’m due to go on an eight day trip to…

I’m due to go on an eight day trip to the Cappadocia. Trying to get information out of this company has been very difficult. My friend is now not going there’s been an issue so I am left to go alone. I’ve been trying to find out which hotels are we staying at. I’ve been told abruptly on two occasions that I will know when I arrive. I do not consider this to be satisfactory as I’m going to be alone traveller and apparently according to the information I now have the group will be split up and going to different hotels. So I’ve no idea where I’m going to be or who I’m going to be weird. I would like to know if anybody has done this trip and how they found it

Gross Misrepresentation

Some years ago, we booked a tour of Turkey with RSD Travel and were impressed by its organisation and the quality of our guide, staying in comfortable 4*and 5* accommodation. As a result, my husband and I booked RSD's French Tour to visit the 10 most famous World Heritage Sites with 7 nights in 'selected comfortable hotels'. What a disappointment. I quote from both the brochure and their email dated 10th April in reply to asking where we would be staying: "The accommodation offered on our cultural tour of France with the most notable highlights is in 4 and 5-star hotels (country category), as advertised”. This was a gross misrepresentation. We were accommodated in 2* Ibis Budget Hotels and 3* Campaniles with only one night in a very acceptable 4* Novotel. The Ibis hotels were filthy, the second with peeling paint and something horrible spilt on the carpet. Our night in Arles was beyond a joke. We'd been given a 'family' room, consisting of a fixed double bed jammed against the wall, so it was impossible to get out of bed at night without considerable effort. There were no dedicated points to charge our devices in any of the hotels. Our two adapters were ill-equipped to charge with the voltage. We paid for the optional ‘Gourmet Food Package’, which covered dinner only. One night at an Ibis, we were served overcooked tagliatelle with an indescribable, inedible 'sauce'. The dessert consisted of stale biscuits. I doubt if any of the meals in these budget hotels cost more than 50p per person. Again, the notable exception was the Novotel. On our last night at the Campanile in Dijon, our guide announced that he would need to order a meal as the only option was a microwaved meal to be selected from a vending machine. If you book with RSD, ensure you know what's included and what's not. Last time, bottled water on the coach was free of charge. This time, it was Euros1.50 a small bottle. We had to pay for entry to most sites. There were two redeeming aspects. Our guide, Tobias, was delightful and entered into the spirit with our jokes about the accommodation and food with 20+ extremely disappointed professional and well-seasoned fellow travellers. The second was the modern, comfortable coach and our driver, Eddy, who was very helpful.

RSD TO REIMBURSE WITHIN 28 DAYS-THAT'S GOOD.

I read with interest RSD's reply (19hours ago-Thursday 30.4.20 16.00 hours) to the recent complaint of No contact-no service. We too were due to go on holiday to Croatia on Sunday 26 April last but had it cancelled by RSD. We have travelled with RSD on a number of occasions now and have quite enjoyed them. Although I'm sure many people, like myself are sympathetic to RSD's problems due to the virus. What has let the company down quite badly is the complete lack of communication with its customers. I have received one letter confirming the cancellation, that's all. When I have managed to speak to staff on the telephone they have been most unhelpful and bordering on being rude. The message on the RSD website is old news now and very much needs updating. It is good that in the reply that I mention above RSD state their intention is to reimburse customers within 28 days. I will hold them to that!

Hoping you survive this pandemic.

My friend and I were to travel to Morocco on19th March 2020 and return on April 1st, but of course, it was cancelled due to Coronavirus. I have been given a full refund byRSD which I received about May 11th. Not a rapid response but in reasonable time and with no procrastinations. ( I am still waiting for refunds from other companies - who are not being helpful.) We look forward to travelling with them again hopefully in 2021 as we have another trip already booked with them. We are always pleased with this company we have had some lovely and well priced holidays with RSD and made some very good friendships. We hold them in high regard and hope they survive this awful situation.

I have had excellent holidays with RSD Travel in the past. Our holiday was obviously cancelled this year, and RSD have refunded in full our payments. The holiday as a whole was fine.

The holiday as a whole was fine. Nowhere did it say that extra would have to be paid in cash for extra excursions or more importantly for any food for the second week. 3 of the excursions were supposed factory visits. All these showed you nothing of the factory other than finished products, followed by an hours hard sell. At the carpet factory, we asked to go outside to discuss and think. Not liked by the sales people, who insisted on keeping us separated until we were forced to be rude and insist we were leaving. Our tour guide. Well, yes he spoke English, but he lied constantly and anywhere he didn't like, he tried to race us round. Final straw was him dictating what tips he wanted and when we should give them. He was rude enough to hand back tips he thought weren't enough. And the instant he'd got the tips he said his job was finished and refused to communicate with us again. Out of the 4 coach loads that arrived on this holiday, ours was one of the best experiences, so I sympathise with the others. Would I use this company again, or recommend them. NO

Perhaps the worst travel company currently in operation

After returning from an RSD trip to India, a troubling feeling persists. Trust in the 14-day cultural tour (£799pp) was misplaced. We encountered issues like inappropriate accommodations, rundown hotels, and a careless guide, Jai S. Warehouses and showrooms stops pressured the elderly to buy products and then persued them further down our journey when they refused. At Maharani Textiles and Handicrafts, an elderly member was pressured into an expensive purchase. Jai S, the guide showed no concern. The trip also included a damaged bus, water damage to personal items, and a malfunctioning shaver. Despite promises, Jai S later denied responsibility for repairs to the item. Towards the trip's end, the guide Jai S requested tips, suggesting £2560 for the driver, mate and himself. In addition, unsuprisingly, some fellow travelers paid significantly less for the same excursions others paid much more for. We loved India, but the awful travel company and guide ruined the experience. We'll visit again with a serious travel company

Great value , great holiday experience.

Great value for money and you get exactly what is described in the brochure. RSD charter flights with Freebird, some disruption in Antalya for the onward flights (but no fault of RSD), and an English speaking guide on arrival in Cyprus. 4 star hotel for the 1st week, with buffet breakfast - optional evening buffet (which we declined) and ate out locally. Great value and easy to find local restaurants. Great choice of included tours, with the obligatory visits to a leather, carpet and jewellery factory - all known about in advance, but still very pushy ! Tour guide was ok, but obviously on commission for sales of optional tours, food packages and purchases at outlets. 2nd week relaxing at a 5 star hotel on the beach, breakfast included. A very busy hotel, but plenty of room to sunbathe around the pools and beach areas. Optional evening meal and drinks package, which we again declined - ate out to support local businesses. Overall very good value. A lovely holiday experience, lovely scenery, great friendships, - but read the brochure carefully to ensure you know what you are signing up to, and you won't be disappointed.

Day 1: Convenient flight arrival and transfer to the hotel

Day 2: konya & monastery of the whirling dervishes.

Our tour crosses the majestic Taurus Mountains via the 1,996 yd Alacabel Pass to Konya. The town formerly known as Ikonium became one of the greatest Christian communities of its time under the Apostle Paul and Saint Barnabas. To this day, its Christian and Islamic origins make the former Seljuq capital an attractive destination for visitors from all over the world. We will visit the Monastery of the Whirling Dervishes (admission included) whose dance has been declared an Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. We will spend the next three nights at our star hotel in Cappadocia.

Day 3: Göreme (World Heritage) & Cavusin

Over millennia, volcanic eruptions, wind and weather have created a strange landscape peppered with tuff rock formations. 2,000 years ago, the region‘s inhabitants began digging their homes, churches and underground cities into the soft stone. The open-air museum in Göreme (admission included) is part of Cappadocia‘s UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage and, with its numerous cloisters, cave churches and wall frescoes, is the highlight of any trip to Cappadocia. To end the day, we are invited to enjoy tasty Turkish tea in the idyllic village of Cavusin.

Day 4: Monks Valley (World Heritage), Sinasos & Valley of Love

Surrounded by vineyards and apricot trees, we descend into Monks Valley (admission included) and into a fairytale world. Together with Göreme, this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Unique rock formations and the constantly changing colours promise moments that will remain with you forever. Monks Valley is also part of Cappadocia‘s UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage. We will carry on to the hidden village of Sinasos with its ancient Greek manor houses. In a traditional carpet factory, we will experience the fascinating, centuries-old craft of carpet-making. The variety, designs and riot of colours seen in these hand-knotted carpets will amaze you. We will end the day with a photo opportunity in the Valley of Doves and a romantic walk through the Valley of Love.

Underground cities

Day 5: Underground cities, historic Silk Road & mediaeval caravanserais

More than 100 underground cities sunk into the mountains around Cappadocia make it surely the most mysterious capital in the region. In one of these labyrinthine cities, we will explore the secrets of underground living (admission included). We then drive past impressive landscapes and isolated villages. All along the historic Silk Road are numerous mediaeval caravanserais. In one of these stopping places, we will learn about the social aspects of this non-commercial facility (admission included). We continue on to our hotel with star comfort in Antalya.

Day 6: Antalya, hist. Old Town & Karpuzkaldiran Waterfall

Today, we set off for Antalya, the capital of the Mediterranean region. After an extensive tour of the city, we will visit Antalya‘s Old Town. The labyrinthine streets, surrounded by fragrant bougainvillea, as well as the beautifully preserved Turkish manor houses in the Old Town, offer an incomparable impression of everyday Mediterranean life. Türkiyes great tradition of craftsmanship then takes us to a jewellery and leather factory. As well as learning about how things are made by hand, you will also have the opportunity to acquire a personal souvenir of your holiday. We will then marvel at the impressive Karpuzkaldiran Waterfall, which tumbles down into the open sea.

Day 7: Antalya – the cultural pearl on the Mediterranean Sea

Your 5-star cultural tour draws to a close today. You can enjoy the comforts of your hotel, chill out at the pool, or ease your muscles with a visit to a traditional Turkish steam bath. You also have the opportunity to explore other natural and cultural treasures in the area at your leisure. A boat trip on the Manavgat River, for example, is worthwhile.

The official language is Turkish. English is often spoken in cities and tourist resorts, as well as German and French.

Subtropical climate along the Aegean Coast and the Mediterranean Sea throughout the year with temperatures ranging from 30°C in the summer to 12–15°C in the winter.

Electricity:

The supply voltage is 220 V, 50 HZ. An adapter is necessary.

Local time:

The time zone in Türkiye is GMT +3 hours with no daylight saving time. The time difference with Turkey is plus 3 hours in winter and plus 2 hours in summer.

Making telephone calls:

The country code for Türkiye is 0090 with the zero cancelled before the area code. If you are calling the UK from Türkiye, please dial 0044 and the area code without the zero.

Country and people:

Barely any country has a history as rich as Türkiye. Today, Türkiye is a modern democracy where tourism is playing an increasingly important role. A visit to Türkiye has to include a visit to the Turkish bazaars, where you can enjoy their oriental flair. The traditional carpet, jewellery and leather goods stores are long-standing, and in some cases centuries-old elements of the culture of this region. So our trip will also include a jewellery manufacturer, a leather goods store and a modern rug gallery. Here you will learn some fascinating facts about the art of carpet weaving and experience how a hand-woven rug has been made for generations. As part of an interesting demonstration, you‘ll find out more about the preparation of silk threads, the natural dyes used for the wool and the delicate and extremely time-consuming knotting process. You will then have 1 – 2 hours in the various stores and factories to look at the works of art and products for yourself. Bartering is a typical Turkish custom. If you are not interested in buying anything, the traders will also accept a clear no. No bartering takes place in department stores and supermarkets, or at markets where local farmers sell their vegetables. In Türkiye it is customary to give tips. Similarly, to the USA, this forms part of the income for the people working in the service sector. Moreover, it symbolizes recognition for the service provided. One can tip chambermaids £1 to £2 per night. In a restaurant or taxi, tipping around 10% of the billed sum is customary. Tips are not given in shops. On group trips, the suggested sum for a tour guide, could be £2 per person per day. While for bus drivers the appropriate sum is around £1 to £2 per day per person. Of course, everyone may decide for themselves whether and how much tip they wish to give.

Entry requirements for British citizens:

British citizens do not need a visa to enter Türkiye for stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period. The Turkish government advises that your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Türkiye and that there is a full blank page for the entry and exit stamps. Nationals of other countries are advised to inquire at the Turkish Embassy about the entry requirements applicable to them. Customers are reminded that it is their sole responsibility to make sure that passport and visa entry requirements for the country or countries that they are visiting are satisfied and we cannot be responsible for any problems encountered (whether at any point of entry or elsewhere) in the event that passport and visa requirements are not satisfied. Regulations in respect of passport and visa requirements for Türkiye are the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye (“MFA”) whose website is at www.mfa.gov.tr .

Tour guides:

Your expert tour guides will be able to provide you with detailed information about the country, people, history, culture, etc., and offer advice and assistance for organising your trip. They can also help with room allocation and look forward to welcoming you with initial information. Here you will find out all you need to know and useful information about the trip. We have put together a varied programme including numerous highlights, enabling you to experience the culture and diversity of landscape that the country has to offer, and learn all about Türkiye and its people.

ATTENTION: Caution is advised when paying with a bank or credit card, as criminals may be trying to copy the traveller’s bank card and obtain the relevant PIN code without being noticed to then be able to withdraw cash from cash machines with fake cards. Travellers are therefore advised to keep an eye on their bank card when paying with it and to enter their PIN number with discretion. Care should be taken when using the bank and credit cards with the PIN code in exchange offices too.

Customs regulations:

The following regulations apply for tourists: import of foreign currency is unlimited. As for exporting currency, a total amount of 5,000 US dollars or the equivalent in TRY is permitted. Travellers may import and export personal jewellery to a total value of 15,000 US dollars. Any value higher than this must be declared when entering the country. Documentation is required for purchases made in Türkiye. Otherwise, the following goods per person may by carried upon entry into Türkiye (does not apply to transit travellers): personal belongings as items for personal use, incl. medical articles (devices) and medicine as well as giftware to a value of 230 GBP (children under 15 years of age up to 110 GBP). Important: If you are travelling to Great Britain from outside the UK, your personal allowances mean you can bring in a certain amount of goods without paying tax or duty. If you go over your allowances you must declare all your goods and pay tax and duty on all the goods in that category. Please inform yourself about the current customs regulations: www.gov.uk/bringing-goods-into-uk-personal-use/arriving-in-Great-Britain

Safety information specific to Türkiye:

British citizens wishing to stay in or travel to Türkiye are generally recommended to keep an eye on the security situation, these travel and safety instructions and on reports in the media. Groups of people gathering, including on public squares and in front of tourist attractions, as well as hanging around near government and military buildings should be avoided. Following the failed violent attempted coup, there have been isolated incidents of aggressive attacks by followers of certain political parties on people with supposedly different views. We strongly recommend remaining vigilant for such escalations, distancing yourself from the situation as quickly as possible and finding a secure location.

Special criminal provisions:

The purchase, possession and export of “cultural and natural properties” is severely punished (prison sentence of up to 10 years), as these properties are regarded as state-owned assets. In case of violation, several months of custody and high bail fees (currently approx. 7,000 GBP) are common procedure for tourists, too, even if they hold antiques or old objects of supposed small value. In individual cases, prison sentences are imposed. You are therefore urgently warned not to acquire or take along antiques, old coins, fossils, etc. from retailers. It is strongly advised against making political statements in public against the Turkish state or expressing sympathy with terrorist organisations.

Medical information:

At least 8 weeks before your trip, check the latest country-specific health advice from the National Travel Health Network and Centre (NaTHNaC) on the TravelHealthPro website ( https://travelhealthpro.org.uk/countries ). Each country-specific page has information on vaccine recommendations, any current health risks or outbreaks, and factsheets with information on staying healthy abroad. Caution is advised when eating uncooked food, unpasteurised milk (e.g. fresh milk, ice cream) and fruit that can not be peeled. Please avoid drinking tap water and ice cubes in drinks! Rule of thumb: do not eat anything that cannot be cooked or peeled! In Türkiye, pharmacies are found at every turn. They are recognised by their green cross and the “Eczane” inscription. The standard is high, the personnel fully trained. Especially in those regions in which tourism flourishes, English-speaking staff are the norm. Most of the medicines that require prescription in the United Kingdom, are also available in Türkiye by prescription only. The handling is somewhat more “relaxed”, though. Hospitals and a number of medical practices are found in every larger city and in the touristic regions; usually only community hospitals are based in smaller towns and villages. Make sure you have private travel health insurance. Such policies usually also offer benefits not covered by state health insurance companies, e.g. the costs of repatriation. Please note that the excursions are accessible by foot only and that the buses used for the roundtrip are not customised to transport wheelchairs or similar devices. Customers must ensure that they are in good physical and mental health in line with the trip in question. Customers must enquire about the physical mobility and psychological autonomy required for this trip.

Your itinerary:

Based on our own experience and the many tips we have received from enthusiastic holidaymakers, it is our pleasure to present to you one of the UK‘s most popular cultural tours!²

Your itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Rhodes and transfer to your star hotel

Welcome to the Island of the Sun God! Our friendly, English-speaking tour guide will meet us at the airport and escort us directly to our star hotel in Rhodes, where we will spend the first 3 nights.

Day 2: Lindos – Old Town & Acropolis

Today we explore the town of Lindos, considered the pearl of Rhodes. Lindos conveys the millennium-long Greek tradition, closely associated with music, dance, ouzo and coffee, in all its naturalness and openness. After a panoramic drive along the coast we reach the picturesque village which, with its snow-white houses, the enthroned acropolis and the beautiful bays, is rightly the most popular place on the whole island. During a walk we marvel at the mediaeval old town and become part of the Greek philosophy of life. The many small shops, coffee houses and sociable locals enchant us with their southern flair. Not far from the Acropolis is one of the most beautiful bays on the entire island of Rhodes, Agios Pavlos Bay, where St Paul is also said to have been stranded.

Day 3: Rhodes – Old Town (UNESCO World Heritage), Mandraki harbour & Wonder of the World, the Colossus of Rhodes

At the beginning of the day, we explore the fascinating history of one of the oldest and largest mediaeval cities in Europe during an orientation tour. Rhodes Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Strolling through the small alleys with historical relics from ancient times, we are transported back in time. We admire Mandraki harbour, where it is believed that the monumental Colossus of Rhodes – one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World – once towered more than 33 yd into the sky. The two statues of the stag Elafos and the hind Elafina are known as landmarks of the harbour. Other highlights of the city are the knights’ street, the bishop’s palace, the Murad-Reis mosque and the famous Grand Master’s Palace. Built by the Knights of St John, the former seat of government is now a museum. The imposing city wall is also a highlight of the sun-drenched island..

Day 4: Panoramic cruise on a catamaran, Marmaris, Hierapolis & Pamukkale (UNESCO World Heritage)

First we enjoy a wonderful panoramic crossing in a modern catamaran. Marmaris and the enchanting Turkish Aegean welcome us with their beautiful islands, forests and bays. We travel past beautiful landscapes on to Pamukkale. The town is famous for its unique limestone terraces and thermal springs, which we will of course visit (admission included). Right next door, a spectacular visit to the ancient “Holy City” of Hierapolis (admission included) awaits us, which is also a UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage Site. We spend the night in a thermal hotel in Pamukkale.

Aphrodisias (World Heritage)

Day 5: Aphrodisias (UNESCO World Heritage) & Meander level

In the morning we reach the ancient city of Aphrodisias (admission included), the capital of Caria and home to artists and sculptors, which is one of the best preserved ancient cities in the world. It is rightly a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mighty stadium, the imposing tetrapylon, the agora and the theatre with inscriptions are just some of the treasures of this impressive ruined city that will inspire us. We will also visit a traditional carpet knotting factory and marvel at this centuries-old craft. We then drive through the beautiful plain of the River Meander to Kusadasi, where we spend three nights with star comfort.

Day 6 – 7: Ephesus (UNESCO World Heritage) & Wonder of the World, the Temple of Artemis

Day 6 begins with a visit to the legendary ancient city of Ephesus (UNESCO World Heritage Site, admission included). The Odeon, Curetes Street, Hadrian’s temple, the Fountain of Trajan, the Library of Celsus, the Agora, Marble Street and the large theatre, where Paul the Apostle delivered a speech, are among the city’s most notable edifices. We will then discover the impressive ruins of the Temple of Artemis (admission included), one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. Afterwards, the great craft tradition takes us to a jewellery and a leather atelier. When we are there, we will find out some interesting things about manufacturing and will have the opportunity to select a personal holiday souvenir. On day 7 we enjoy our dream hotel or discover the surroundings on our own. A visit to the oracle temple Didyma and the picturesque town Tire is certainly worthwhile.

Day 8 – 15: FREE Rhodes – extended holiday in an exclusive 4-star hotel

After breakfast we take a panoramic catamaran crossing back to the island of Rhodes. Once there, we move into our exclusive 4-star hotel right next to the beach. Here we can enjoy wonderful relaxation over the coming days. We can enjoy the amenities of our hotel. Take a break by the outdoor or indoor pool, or go for a leisurely stroll along the beach. On the 15ᵗʰ day, we will be transferred directly to the airport for the return flight.

Including a spectacular range of excursions!

Information on Türkiye & Rhodes/Greece

Comparison of temperatures, general note:.

Below is an information overview. The conditions of entry, as well as the political and health situation, can change anywhere in the world at any time. We therefore recommend checking before your trip. Please check the website of the Foreign Office ( www.gov.uk ) before your departure.

Rhodes: 4ᵗʰ-largest Greek island, belonging to the Dodecanese group of islands I Türkiye: on the Mediterranean Sea on the border of Europe and Asia

Local time:

Greece is two hours ahead of UK time, all year round. The time zone in Türkiye is GMT +3 hours with no daylight saving time.

Electricity:

Greece: 230 V alternating current, 50 HZ. An adapter is necessary. | Türkiye: The supply voltage is 220 V, 50 HZ. An adapter is necessary.

Making telephone calls:

The country code for Greece is 0030 and for Türkiye 0090 with the zero cancelled before the area code. If you are calling the UK from Greece or Türkiye, please dial 0044 and the area code without the zero.

Country and people:

Few countries have such a rich history as Greece and Türkiye. No trip to Türkiye would be complete without a visit to the Turkish bazaars to soak up the oriental flair. The handmade carpets, jewellery and leather goods are an integral part and to some extent centuries-old tradition of the oriental culture – which is why our tour also includes a visit to a jewellery maker, a leather merchant and a traditional carpet weaver. Here you will find out fascinating facts about the Turkish art of carpet weaving and see how hand-woven carpets have been made throughout the generations. In interesting demonstrations, you will learn more about preparing the silk threads, natural wool dyeing and very intricate and elaborate tying with the renowned ‚Turkish knot‘. You will then get to spend one to two hours in the respective factories looking at the works of art and products. Bartering is a typical Turkish custom. If you are not interested in buying anything, the traders will also accept a clear no. No bartering takes place in department stores and supermarkets, or at markets where local farmers sell their vegetables. In Türkiye and Greece, it is customary to give tips. Similar to the USA, this forms part of their income for people working in the sector. Moreover, it symbolizes recognition for the service provided. One can tip chambermaids £1 to £2 per night. In a restaurant or taxi, tipping around 10% of the billed sum is customary. Tips are not given in shops. On group trips, the suggested sum for a tour guide could be £2 per person per day. While for bus drivers the appropriate sum is around £1 to £2 per day per person. Of course, everyone may decide for themselves whether and how much of a tip they wish to give.

Entry requirements for British citizens:

British Citizens travelling to Greece and Türkiye for tourist purposes are able to travel without a visa for visits of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Your passport must be issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country (check the ‘date of issue’) and should be valid for at least 150 days from the date you arrive (in Türkiye) and there should be a full blank page for the Turkish entry and exit stamps. Check your passport is stamped if you enter or exit the Schengen area through Greece as a visitor. Border guards will use passport stamps to check you are complying with the 90-day visa-free limit for short stays in the Schengen area. If relevant entry or exit stamps are not in your passport, border guards will presume that you have overstayed your visa-free limit. Nationals of other countries are advised to enquire at the Greek and Turkish Embassy about the entry requirements applicable to them. Customers are reminded that it is their sole responsibility to make sure that passport and visa entry requirements for the country or countries that they are visiting are satisfied and we can not be responsible for any problems encountered (whether at any point of entry or elsewhere) in the event that passport and visa requirements are not satisfied. Regulations in respect of passport and visa requirements for Greece are the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs whose Website is https://www.mfa.gr/en/index.html . If you hold a different type of British nationality (BN(O), British Overseas Citizen, British Protected Person or British Subject), check visa requirements with the Greek Embassy before you travel. Regulations in respect of passport and visa requirements for Türkiye are the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye (‚MFA‘) whose website is at www.mfa.gov.tr . However, passport and visa requirements change from time to time and depend on the purpose of your visit and your nationality. Whilst we endeavour to provide guidance where necessary. For up-to-date information on entry requirements, please visit https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/ . The EU has a new visa waiver system, called ETIAS, which will be valid for three years. British passport holders travelling to the EU will need to apply and pay for an ETIAS, via an online system ( https://etias.com/ ).

Tour guides:

Additional packages:, tourist tax:.

In Greece, a climate protection fee of up to €10 (£ 8.55) per room per night applies from 1 March to 31 October for 4- and 5-star hotels. Outside of this period, the state spa and city tax of up to €4 (£ 3.40) per room per night applies (as of January 2024).

Currency/Banks/Credit cards:

Greece is a member of the EU. The currency is the Euro. Exchange rate (as at February 2024): 1 GBP = 1.17 Euro; 1 Euro = 0.85 GBP. Bank opening times are Monday – Thursday 8.00 a.m. – 2.00 p.m., Friday 8.00 a.m. – 1.30 p.m. In major cities opening hours are sometimes longer. Popular credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted almost everywhere. A debit card and PIN number can be used to withdraw cash from cash machines for a fee. Cards bearing the Cirrus or Maestro symbol are also accepted as means of payment. CAUTION: When paying with debit or credit cards, we recommend vigilance against fraudsters who will secretly try to copy tourists‘ bank cards and spy out the associated PIN so that they can then withdraw cash from cash machines using a cloned card. Travellers are therefore advised when paying by card to always keep their card in sight and to conceal the PIN when entering it. Caution is advised when using debit and credit cards with a PIN in currency exchanges. Türkiye : Since 1 January 2009, the currency is once again called the Turkish lira (TRY). Exchange rate (as of June 2024): 1 GBP = 39,23 TRY; 1 TRY = 0.03 GBP. Money can be exchanged at banks during opening hours. Another option to change currency is offered at larger hotels. Bank opening hours: Mon – Fri from 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., 1.30 to 5.30 p.m. Cash can be withdrawn from cash machines using established international credit cards like Visa, Mastercard, American Express; the usage of debit cards is only possible with some machines. Credit cards are usually also accepted in the larger hotels, various shops and international car rental offices.

Customs regulations:

Greece: There are a number of products which have entry or exit limitations in Greece from outside the European Union. These include cultural goods, wild fauna and flora and products derived from these, vegetables and plant products, weapons and ammunition, medicines, tobacco and alcoholic beverages (please note the alcohol and cigarette allowances). You cannot take meat, milk or products containing them into EU countries. In terms of medications, only those necessary for personal use are allowed, and they must be accompanied by a copy of the prescription or medical report. Türkiye: The import of foreign currency is unlimited. Important: If you are travelling to Great Britain from outside the UK, your personal allowances mean you can bring in a certain amount of goods without paying tax or duty. If you go over your allowances you must declare all your goods and pay tax and duty on all the goods in that category. Please inform yourself about the current customs regulations: http://www.gov.uk/bringing-goods-into-uk-personal-use/arriving-in-Great-Britain .

Special criminal law provisions:

Greece: The acquisition, possession, import or export of drugs (even in small quantities) is severely punished. Photographing military installations and important civilian facilities (airports / ports) is prohibited due to the risk of spying. Violations will be prosecuted. For cases of theft, deliberate or negligent damage, illegal excavation and removal from the site (i.e. without permission or notification to the authorities) of archaeological finds, prison sentences of up to several years can also be imposed on foreigners, depending on the severity of the offence. Türkiye: The purchase, possession and export of ‚cultural and natural properties‘ is severely punished (prison sentence of up to 10 years), as these properties are regarded as state-owned assets.

Caution is advised when eating uncooked food, unpasteurised milk (e.g. fresh milk, ice cream) and fruit that cannot be peeled. Please avoid drinking tap water and ice cubes in drinks! Rule of thumb: do not eat anything that cannot be cooked or peeled!

Medical care:

Greece: Anyone entitled to free healthcare in the UK is also entitled to treatment in Greece – if it is urgently required – from doctors, dentists, hospitals, and so on that are approved by the foreign statutory health insurance company. You should get a free UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) or European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) before leaving the UK. If you already have an EHIC it will still be valid as long as it remains in date. You can also contact your health insurance company for information on current regulations. Nonetheless, you are urgently recommended to take out travel health insurance for the duration of your holiday which covers risks not assumed by the statutory health insurance companies. Such policies usually also offer benefits not covered by state health insurance companies, e.g. the costs of repatriation. Türkiye: Medical treatment options in the country‘s major cities and tourist regions have improved significantly in recent years. In particular, the large number of private hospitals offer a level approaching that of Europe. In many cases, medical care in rural areas cannot be compared to Western Europe and can be problematic in terms of technology, equipment and hygiene. Any valid health insurance cover you may have (foreign health insurance certificate) is often not sufficient. It is therefore strongly advised to take out private travel health insurance and reliable travel repatriation insurance. In private clinics, it is common to ask for a covered credit card or cash before starting treatment. An individual first-aid kit should be taken along and appropriately protected from the hot temperatures while travelling. An individual consultation with a tropical medicine doctor or travel medicine specialist is also advisable.

Customers must ensure that they are in good physical and mental health in line with the trip in question. Customers must enquire about the physical mobility and psychological autonomy required for this trip.
