New York Marathon Guide: The BEST Places To Stay For Runners

The New York City Marathon draws in over 50,000 runners and attracts around 2 million spectators from all corners of the globe. With such a significant event, the demand for hotel accommodations is substantial.

Fortunately, the city offers a whopping 110,000 rooms, with approximately two-thirds of them conveniently positioned in Manhattan, near the finish line at Central Park.

If minimizing travel time is a priority, you’ll find lodging options near the start line at Fort Wadsworth in Staten Island. Alternatively, you can opt for accommodations close to the Midtown Manhattan Bus Center or the Staten Island Ferry Port, both of which are major transportation hubs for the marathon.

Most hotels are conveniently located near the finish line, situated at 67th Street on West Drive near Central Park. Another viable choice is to stay in New Jersey, close to MetLife Stadium, where you’ll take buses to the Fort Wadsworth starting point.

So before I share with you the very best hotels to stay in NY for the Marathon, here are the transportation options you have to know.

Because the New York Marathon starts on Staten Island and you run across the bridge that gets you to Staten Island (the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge), the bridge is obviously closed for the race, and you need to be in the race Village on the island well before the race starts.

What Are The Official Transportation Options For The NYC Marathon

Staten island ferry.

Departure Location :  Whitehall Terminal, Manhattan

Estimated Travel Time to the Start Line : 90 minutes

You can reach Whitehall Terminal via the 1 train (at South Ferry) and the R and W trains (at Whitehall Street–South Ferry), as well as buses on the M15, M20, and M55 routes.

The ferry is free and it takes you to St. George Terminal on Staten Island. From there, free buses are available to transport you to Fort Wadsworth.

Midtown Manhattan Bus

Departure Location :  New York Public Library , Fifth Avenue at 42nd Street

The buses will transport you directly to Fort Wadsworth. The New York Public Library is conveniently situated in a central location and can be easily accessed through various subway and bus routes .

New Jersey Bus

Departure Location :  MetLife Stadium Parking Lot K , near the Quest Diagnostics Training Center

Estimated Travel Time to the Start Line : 60 minutes

The bus will take you from MetLife Stadium Parking Lot K directly to Fort Wadsworth. Please note that there is no parking available at this location.

What If I Want To Use My Own Transport?

For the New York City Marathon, I highly recommend that you use the official TCS transportation to get to the start line.

However, if you decide to use your own private vehicle, there are important things to consider:

  • Taking your own transportation means you’re responsible for getting to the start, which can be difficult due to road closures.
  • You must arrive at the start before 7:00 a.m. when the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge closes to all traffic.
  • Since there won’t be any parking available in Fort Wadsworth, you’ll have drop-off near the i ntersection of Lily Pond Avenue and McClean Avenue outside Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island. Keep in mind that there’s a walking distance of about half a mile (approx 1 km) from the drop-off area to the Start Villages.
  • If you’re coming from New Jersey, you need to make sure that you drop off and clear the Staten Island Expressway by 7:00 a.m., as the expressway will close to vehicles at that time.

If you have secured your New York Marathon spot through a charity partner or tour operator , make sure you check with them. This will help you have a clear understanding of how you’ll be getting to the marathon’s start line.

Some of these partners offer official NYRR transportation, while others arrange for coach buses to pick you up directly from your hotel to designated pick-up points.

When it comes to accommodations, if you’re running the New York City Marathon, I recommend staying closer to these three locations:

  • Finish Line (I stayed in a lovely backpackers hostel near Central Park, and so it was great to be able to take a very slow stroll home after the race. It’s also great to get in a few easy shakeout runs in the Park before the race.)
  • Midtown Bus Loading
  • Staten Island Ferry Terminal

What Are The Best Hotels Near NY Public Library (Midtown Manhattan Bus)

On the morning of the race, many runners choose to either hop on the buses at the Public Library on 5th Ave. & 42nd St. or take the Staten Island Ferry to the starting line.

If you stay close to the midtown bus loading spot, you could sleep in a little on race day and simply walk to the buses. With about 65 hotels within half a mile of this area, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a place to stay nearby.

What’s more, these hotels are conveniently positioned within a short walk of several popular tourist spots like Times Square, the Empire State Building, and Rockefeller Center. This makes them a great choice not just for race-day ease but also for exploring the city’s famous sites.

So, here are my best picks for you:

Hyatt Place New York/Midtown-South

Situated in Downtown South Manhattan, the Hyatt Place offers good value. It’s conveniently near the Herald Square subway and a quick walk from the Empire State Building.

Another excellent tour. This was #5 with MT&T and the weekend did not disappoint. Pre-race communications were clear and timely. The weekend events were perfect. Friday night meet & greet was fun. Saturday dinner was exactly what we needed. Logistics to the start worked as expected; the food bag was a perfect addition. Hotel location also excellent. Thank you Allyson, and everyone else!!

All events before and after the marathon were excellent, it makes things so much easier for all runners. I highly recommend marathon tours. Thank you for the great experience I had in NYC.

This package provided me peace of mind, I could focus in my marathon, no worries about transportation, accommodation. I felt fully supported. And the price worth it.

Pre-trip communications were excellent! Traveling with Marathon Tours is definitely a relaxing way to go.

Marathon Tours & Travel does an excellent job and provides a much needed service to gain entry to the Abbott World Marathon Majors. It is also wonderful for individuals traveling alone to be with a group. Keep up the good work.

I found the planning, preparation and trip to be very well organized with clear communication. I enjoyed the run Central Park on Saturday morning, the pre-race dinner and the bus to the start line was very efficient. I would definitely recommend this tour to others!

Allyson is fantastic to work with! She works hard to make sure everyone is satisfied and always keeps everyone in the loop. I would give her a 10 star if possible.

NYC was the the third trip we have participated in with MTT and you never disappoint. The most important feature in our minds was the transportation to the start line. We heard so many stories of the anxiety and hassle of getting there through public transit (particularly the busses from the ferry to the runner’s village) and you made it so easy. Thanks MTT!!!!

The best thing about the package was that every detail was covered to the highest perfection. Transportation to the start village was wonderful!! I so enjoyed the welcome and pasta party— talking and sharing with other runners. The Sheraton was a perfect location to enjoy NYC. Thank you Allyson and Amy and Marathon Tours & Travel for a wonderful experience.

It was really great not having to worry about anything over the weekend except for running the streets of NYC!!

Thank you to you and your staff members for providing a very memorable weekend for Thierry and me! In particular, Allyson and Karen were meticulous in their keen attention to detail and in always being helpful, cheerful, and displaying a positive attitude despite their many operational demands. Definitely a great weekend memory for my 250th marathon.

Wow! Pam and I had an amazing time in NYC with Marathon Tours. It was our first trip with the team but it will not be our last! We met so many amazing people at your different events, it was awesome being with folks who share our passion for travel and running! I think we have the itch to chase the Abbott World Majors now!!

My favorite thing about Marathon Tours is that you put the runners and their health, safety and comfort as your number one priorities!

This is just a quick note to remind you of the incredible services that each of you offer, and I myself have just been so thankful for all of you over these years. As a wife, mother, professional and runner you have brought such peace of mind to my life. I am so thankful to know that when it comes to the one activity of me that brings me joy, I know I can count on all of you for help when I want to do something adventurous!

Thank you for all that you do to make people’s dreams come true and support them even when they just have to wait a bit longer. In the end, Marathon Tours and their agents are always going to be ready and willing to make sure that each person gets the best of the best! I just wanted you to know that for some of us, our experiences with marathon tours holds deep meaning in our lives because of all the goodness you have contributed.

This was my first trip with Marathon Tours and I was extremely impressed. I haven’t stopped raving about you since I got home. Everything was so well planned. It was nice and convenient to have all of the receptions and dinners either in the hotel or so close to the hotel. The hotel itself was very nice and the location was fantastic. The bus ride to the start was flawless and took all of the stress out of getting to the start. All of your staff was so friendly and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would travel with you again in a heartbeat. Thank you for a fantastic trip!

This was my 23rd marathon but the first through a running company – loved leaving the planning to someone else – took all the stress out of the trip – would highly recommend marathon tours

Thank you Marathon tours for the opportunity to run a beautiful and challenging marathon. It was intense and emotional. You have a great team! Very organized and professional. Meeting Katherine Switzer was inspiring.

Thank you Allyson and the whole Marathon Tours for a great experience at the recent NYC Marathon. Everything was well organized and the support I got really helped me prepare and made my marathon race day a breeze. The Pre Race dinners were amazing. The speakers are very inspiring. I look forward to running again with Marathon Tours again.

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the NYC Marathon. Not having run the event previously, it took the stress out of planning and allowed me to focus on running and enjoying the event. My wife has always been a great supporter and she appreciated meeting both runners and other supporters that are part of what Marathon Tours offers. Thank you and I look forward to joining Marathon Tours at future events.

The hotel venue was perfect! The location worked well as you could walk to the expo or take mass transit. Central park was close for the morning run. Starbucks in the lobby for coffee needs 🙂 The welcome reception was a nice time to meet fellow runners and socialize. The pre race dinner was a great meal- lots of options and I enjoyed Roger and Kathrine. The coach bus and breakfast box was an AMAZING feature of this trip. Honestly, I had heard many horror stories of people being late to start or missing their wave due to transportation issues- so this was one of the main reasons I signed up for the package.

Everything I’ve come to enjoy about MT — convenience, worry-free, all the details taken care of…so that all I have to do is show up and run.

Well organized and especially liked the worry free transportation to the start village. And matching up of roommates! I’ve made a new friend and running partner for years to come I think! Thank you!

Communication was excellent all the way around and the offering for the money was of good value. I loved this race and the experience with Marathon Tours took away all my travel anxieties and allowed me to focus on the marathon.

The travel package is so well thought out that there is so little to stress about, everything is done and in place for you. The transportation to the expo and race start is a huge incentive, I think that is what I like best.

I always enjoy the events where it brings the group together for socializing. There are so many great people that go on these tours and their stories are incredible and inspiring. Nice touch with the Marathon Tours shirts for the athletes.

I trust Marathon Tours, you deliver 100% every time and deliver with caring, friendly, knowledgeable people. When it comes to runner adventures, you’re the only company we consider.

I have nothing but praise for you all. This was so well organized from the emails we started to receive well before the trip to the outstanding hospitality provided at the hotel and at the social events. I enjoyed the reserved tables for us SCC members. The attention to detail and the personal touch that Marathon Tours and Travel gives us is the reason I keep coming back to your company. Thank you Karen, Allyson, Jeff and Thom. See you on my next trip.

A big thank you to you and your staff for making such a memorable weekend possible. The race couldn’t have went better and I greatly appreciate your planning and good nature in pulling together all the details that I didn’t have to worry about. Thank you and Marathon Tours and good luck in the future!

The guaranteed entry. This is my third time doing NYC, and I would NOT have done it this time if it weren’t for the Marathon Tours entry and tour package.

Awesome customer experience. Great communications and timely. Customer service is the differentiator these days and you nailed it. Thanks for that!!

My daughter and I were so happy to have the opportunity to run this race together this year. Marathon tours made this possible and the organization and professionalism were superb. We hope to do more marathon trips through marathon tours and will be spreading the word to all of our running friends. Thank you again for making our New York experience absolutely amazing

The hosts of marathon tours were excellent. The prerace communication exceeded my expectations. Thank you!. The hotel was a pleasant surprise. It was much nicer than I expected and the location was very good. The bus to the start line was excellent. Well done. Karen and Anna were amazing!! Thank you ladies for all your hard work. I plan to travel with Marathon tours to London and would highly recommend you as a tour group.

I liked how everything was organized for me including events that we could attend and having the transportation to the start of the race as part of the package. It took a lot of stress off in worrying about all of those details.

I called the Marathon Tours’ office to inquire about another Major’s Race and spoke with Nicole. She informed me of the VIP Package, as well as the advantages of the Seven Continents Club. She encouraged me to join and take advantage of trip. Before it sold out. I said, thanks and signed up.

HOW WELL ORGANISED IT WAS. The location was great close to everything. Karen and Anna excellent staff tour.

The convenience. We just had to show up and everything was done. Probably the best pre-race pasta dinner that I have had – other than when we booked ourselves a restaurant meal. Staff was very friendly, shuttle to the expo worked out very well, and getting driven to the start line was wonderful.

A world major marathon trip organized by world class runners for runners who are trying to run the world. 🙂

NYC Marathon is one the Marathon Majors. The race is difficult to get us both in at the same time. Marathon Tours offered the guaranteed entries.

Go Ape! A Planet of the Apes Marathon

Joshua Rothkopf

Time Out says

Standing my ground: The new  Planet of the Apes  films—starring Andy Serkis as a motion-captured Caesar—are brilliant, sensitive creations that actually eclipse the original series. Last year’s staggering  War for the Planet of the Apes  made this abundantly clear to anyone with eyes. And if you remember slogging your way through some of those Heston-less sequels of the early ’70s, you’ll know I’m right about this.

Still, there’s no denying the cumulative power of the first five films—a quintet that kicked off with 1968’s still-shocking  Planet of the Apes  (“You blew it up!”) and ended with 1973’s  Battle for the Planet of the Apes . You can see all five of them , in chronological order, beginning at 1pm Sunday 26 at Quad Cinema , for the low price of—no monkey business—$30. The films will be presented in all their Nixon-era glory in crisp digital 4K restorations. Plus, the   recently renovated Quad  boasts some of the comfiest seats in the city. If you’re an Apes fan, it’s time to prove it.

We’re not seeing any incentivizing prize for completing all five films. But of course, our gears are spinning (please take any of these ideas, Quadsters): How about free Gorilla coffee for anyone who stays beyond the first movie? A bowl of bananas for the assembled crowd in between titles? What if you show up for the movies wearing   this ? Wouldn’t that be worth a free admission? At the very least, Quad could pony up with some sweet  Apes –related merch, to be divided among those who make it to the bitter end.

Been there, done that? Think again, my friend.

The New York City Marathon Route: A Five-Borough Tour

The 26.2-mile race is a tour of New York City on foot, complete with roaring crowds scattered across diverse neighborhoods.

planet tour marathon new york

By Matt Futterman

The New York City Marathon is both a race and a journey through one of the most diverse cities in the world, the ultimate tour of this sprawling metropolis.

It is 26.2 miles of bridges and hills and flat pavement requiring roughly 50,000 steps, depending on who you are, but those numbers are really too big and exhausting for any runner to conceptualize. Counting off the miles or kilometers one by one isn’t much fun either.

Far better to break up this endeavor into a series of more digestible chunks, which is how most runners experience it, from the fastest East Africans at the front of the pack to the folks who are venturing out on their first attempt at double-digit miles in the back.

planet tour marathon new york

willis ave. Br.

Queensboro Br.

Pulaski Br.

Williamsburg

Verrazzano-

Narrows Br.

That strategy has gotten me to the finish line in New York 10 times, and I hope it will get me there for an 11th on Sunday, though a strained calf and hamstring following last month’s Boston Marathon may make that impossible.

But if you are a first-time marathoner, a veteran, or someone who knows someone who is running and wants to understand the experience from inside the barricades, this is the marathon in 13 parts. (An official PDF course map is here.)

A long bridge, and then a big welcome to Brooklyn

Crossing the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge is the first challenge. Good news — it actually represents the longest climb of the race. Thankfully, there is so much adrenaline from the start and the sparkling view of New York Harbor and the downtown skyline that runners barely feel the ascent. The real challenge is not blowing too many reserves too early, especially when there is every temptation to fly down the span into Brooklyn. A little patience goes a long way there.

Runners begin to hear Bay Ridge for a quarter-mile or so before they are on the land. Take it easy. All that noise and plenty more will be there soon enough, during the couple of turns through the neighborhood ahead of the big right onto the long straightaway of Fourth Avenue, where, just like that, the first 5-k is all but finished.

Straight ahead on Fourth Avenue

It’s big and broad and flat. If the wind is coming from the north, it’s a real drag, especially as the street quiets from the northern part of Bay Ridge for roughly four miles until the thoroughfare starts to bisect Park Slope to the east and Red Hook, Carroll Gardens and Boerum Hill to the west.

This part of the journey is really just transportation. Fourth Avenue runs nearly six miles without a turn, the course stretching out before the eyes with the Williamsburgh Savings Bank building in Downtown Brooklyn looming in the distance for what seems like forever. Breathe, let a rhythm evolve and fall into it.

The frenzy of Downtown, and the party of Fort Greene, Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy

The calm of Fourth Avenue ultimately gives way to the bedlam of Downtown Brooklyn and then Lafayette Avenue. For two miles it’s the joy of the brownstone-lined streets in the heart of the borough, where lots of kids are always offering orange slices and other refreshments. Careful, though: Lafayette Avenue is uphill. Don’t let all the music coming from the windows of the house parties force a sprint. Soak it in during these two miles instead, especially as the party continues after the left turn into Bedford-Stuyvesant, and keep the memory of those cheers fresh for what comes soon.

Williamsburg taketh and then giveth

Williamsburg delivers what may be the least and most fun stretches of the marathon. It starts with a grind across the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway that ends up in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood where the marathon is something of an afterthought. The result is a strange kind of silence and little support among the locals that can make Mile 11 feel like two or three.

But eventually that quiet gives way to the Williamsburg of hipsters and art galleries and cafes and bars that has blossomed during the past two decades and made a party of this last part of the first half of the race. There is an over-staffed water station near McCarren Park and glimpses of the Queensboro Bridge that will eventually lead into Manhattan.

Crossing the halfway mark, and a mile in Queens

The end of the beginning starts with a left in Greenpoint and a view of the Pulaski Bridge into Queens. At first glance it looks like a tough incline. It kind of is, because it’s longer than it initially appears. This is the moment to feel the satisfaction of putting the borough with so much marathon real estate in the rearview mirror.

The middle of the bridge brings the 13.1-mile mark. The bottom of it brings Queens and another boost of noise that was not there 25 years ago in Long Island City, before the residential construction boom. The Queensboro Bridge feels so close, because it is. Brooklyn might have taken an hour or two. Queens gets done in roughly 10 minutes.

Another big, long bridge

Deep breath: Here comes the left turn onto the Queensboro Bridge (known in song, of course, as the 59th Street Bridge ). Manhattan is right there. Oops. It’s not. First there is a 1.5-mile climb and descent on a quiet, dark bridge, where the fatigue from the first 15 miles is impossible to ignore. There is a gorgeous view of the skyline and the stretch of the harbor and a vision of how far has already been run, but there is also the overwhelming echo of labored breathing until a few hundred yards past the crest of the bridge. Then comes the downhill, which at this point exacts some punishment on the tiring quads.

But just ahead is the 16-mile mark and the wall of sound on First Avenue, and there is only one thing to do — let gravity do its job, allow the wheels to spin and catch a little speed. That eases the pounding of the quads and allows for some fun. Time to smile for the big crowd.

Take it all in on First Avenue

How many times in the lead-up to this day have you run 10 miles? Probably a lot. That’s all that is left. Think about it for a moment, and then no more, because the only mile that can be run is the one you are in, so regain that rhythm from before the roll off the bridge and then look around at the crowds six deep on the sidewalks, the people hanging off the fire escapes, the course stretching out straight north for three miles, music coming from the bars on the ups and downs of the Upper East Side, and then from the big speakers beside the avenue on the flats in East Harlem. There the crowd is a little thinner, making it the perfect spot to say hello to a friend or a mom, who can then head west to catch you in a half-hour or so on Fifth Avenue.

Into (and out of) the Bronx

There’s so much to love about the Bronx. The bridges into and out of it are low and short. The hip-hop and salsa fill your ears. The quick turns throw in some variety after a long straightaway and the one coming up. The whole fourth borough gets done in a mile and a half. Try to keep all these positive thoughts flowing because the race passes the 20-mile mark in the Bronx, and the door to the pain cave has officially opened.

Back in Manhattan

Welcome back to Harlem and upper Fifth Avenue and the last five miles. Look up. That sky up ahead is above Central Park, where this thing ends. All the bridges are over. There are two parts to this next stretch of a little less than two miles — getting to Marcus Garvey Park and its picturesque spin around the square, and then the final 10 blocks to the top of Central Park. If you are lucky, the gospel choir will be singing on the steps of the church across from Marcus Garvey Park, providing a sign that the Almighty is in your corner.

The Fifth Avenue hill

On a stroll beside Central Park on a fall afternoon, the one-mile incline would be practically unnoticeable. But this is Mile 23 and 24 of a marathon, so it feels like Mount Everest with a summit that never comes. The hill starts just after 110th Street. Take comfort that Mount Sinai Hospital is there if things get really dire, and that this endless hill ends with the turn into the park at 90th Street. When the Guggenheim Museum comes into view, the end is nigh.

Into Central Park

Getting close now. Less than three miles to go. For the thousands in the race who have trained in Central Park, being back on the loop is pure heaven. It’s time to roll past the reservoir and then the Temple of Dendur in the back of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, then down the hill to the boathouse. On the side of the road, everyone is yelling how close you are — because they do not have to run another two-plus miles after running 24. But then, on the brief uphill after the boathouse, through the trees and across the Sheep Meadow, there it is: the finish line.

Outside the park again, on Central Park South

One more mile. One last wall of sound. One last long incline, even if it is only a slight one that, depending on the energy level, feels like either Denali or nothing at all. Focus the eyes on the farthest traffic light and see the Christopher Columbus statue that gets bigger with each step. That marks the final turn back into Central Park. This thing is getting near done.

Somehow, the mind is thinking that right after the body is in Central Park once more, it’s all over, but one last spit of road remains, and it’s a little longer than it’s supposed to be. There’s a little bend that keeps the finish line out of sight at first, and then, in one last stroke of cruelty from the marathon gods, the final 50 yards are uphill. It’s like a bad joke. Or a good one, because the hill is a nonissue and it’s time to raise the arms and look up at the photo bridge for a triumphant close-up.

Time for beer.

Who May Purchase?

Anyone who will be 18 or older on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 and is not  a full time resident of the US may purchase one of our guaranteed entry packages.

Why Rates are in US Dollars

As you are traveling to the US for this package and both the hotels and the NYRR charge in US Dollars, we charge the same to avoid having to build in an exchange buffer due to the constantly changing CAD vs USD. This ends up saving you money!

You may pay using a Canadian credit card or a US currency card.

How Much is a Guaranteed Entry

It is a common misconception that a guaranteed entry fee is between US350 and US400, however, this is the estimated rate for those who win the lottery.  The actual fee for a guaranteed entry is substantially higher but under contract with the NYRR, we are not permitted to indicate the exact amount.

Don’t Wait for the Lottery Results!

After You Apply

After you apply Dream Travel will contact you to complete your registration process via the email address you provided. You must ensure that your email address is correct and you are responsible for monitoring it closely as Dream Travel will contact with everyone via email.

Cancellation Policy

As the NYRR does not refund or defer guaranteed entries, our policy is as follows:

Each year we have many people cancel due to unforeseen circumstances who did not purchase our travel insurance meaning they end up losing a portion of their package amount.  Under no circumstances does the NYRR permit postponing your marathon if you need to cancel so protect yourself and your money by purchasing our Group Insurance through ManuLife.

With our insurance you will be able to cancel for insurable reasons as well as  running injuries while training and we also sell a Cancel For Any Reason policy !  We offer various other insurance packages including Cancellation, Interruption, Medical and Baggage. Frequently Asked Questions

What are the minimum three nights we have to stay? You may stay any three nights although the majority of the group will stay Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights in order to get to the expo and so that you won’t have to check out prior to running the marathon.

Can I stay at a different hotel? We have contracts with the hotels listed on our website therefore we are unable to offer different properties.

Are these prices in CAD or USD? US Dollars.

Are there transfers from the airport to the hotel? Although transfers are not included, transportation from any of the four airports servicing NYC is as little as $23USD per person per direction for shuttle service

Do you have triple and quadruple rates? We do, please inquire with Dream Travel for exact rates based on your needs.

What’s the weather like? Average November temperatures in NYC float around +12 degrees Celsius. However, it is not uncommon to be freezing in the mornings and as high as +20 during the days. However, due to the lack of sunlight in Manhattan (because of the tall buildings) expect cooler weather.

I’m traveling solo – can you assist me with finding a roommate to save money? Dream Travel will assist you in finding a same-sex roommate but we can’t guarantee that we can find you someone. That said, typically anyone who registers prior to July is matched up and the earlier you register the better the odds.

I see transportation is included to the start line on race day morning. What are my choices? Transportation will be provided from Bryant Park (via bus) and from the Whitehall Ferry Terminal (via ferry) and runners will be given specific and individual departure time choices based on the estimated marathon completion time that they enter during official race registration via the NYRR.

Is there shelter available around the start area? There are open tents that will keep the rain off, however wind will still blow through. Therefore we highly suggest wearing old warm clothing over your running gear, to Staten Island, which you can discard before the start of the race. Volunteers will pick up discarded clothing and distribute it among New York’s homeless population

Great Aloha Run, Hawaiʻi

In deference to the pandemic, Hawaiʻi's Great Aloha Run will be “virtual” this year. Instead of gathering for one coordinated run, participants are encouraged to run at their leisure, wherever they are and log their miles.

Accommodations : Because the event is virtual this year, there’s no need to travel, but historic old hotels like the Moana Surfrider Hotel , which opened in 1901, might just be worth the trip. 2022 race date : February 18 – 21, 2022 Cost : $45 USD for adults, $30 USD for Ages 5 - 12 or 65 and up, $35 USD for Hawai‘i Pacific Health employees Entry period : Final date to register is February 21, 2022
