What We Offer Visiting Schools

All of Manchester City Stadium Tours: Educational Experiences are led by an expertly trained guide, school groups will be toured around the Etihad Stadium paying special attention to areas that relate to their chosen subject. Each experience is carefully tailored to ensure it is suitable to each group. Supportive resources are also provided to aid learning before and after the visit with comprehensive lesson plans, worksheets, and accompanying PowerPoint slides. There are four Educational Tour Experiences to choose from: · Match Report · Day in the Life of a Footballer · The Stadium as a Business · Urban Regeneration

Match Report English Suitable for Key Stages 2 – 4 Tour the stadium through the eyes of the press in the company of our professionally trained tour guides. We recreate the excitement of a thrilling match so your pupils can take the role of a journalist in our interview areas – right where the professionals do it on a match day.

Day in the Life of a Footballer Science / PE Suitable for Science Key stages 2 – 3 and PE Key Stage 3. During the stadium tour we will follow a player from the moment they wake upon a matchday through to going home, as well as talk about what they do to prepare on the days prior to matchday and how they recover. Our trained tour guides will give the inside knowledge on preparation, fitness, diet, performance analysis, training, nutrition in areas that are used by the players on matchday.

The Stadium as a Business Maths / Business Studies Suitable for Maths Key Stage 3 – 4 and Business Studies Key Stage 3 – 4. This 90-minute tour explores some specific revenue streams, roles, and careers at the stadium, showing the many commercial aspects that operate alongside the big match. The tour looks at profit and loss.

Urban Regeneration Geography Suitable for Geography Key Stage 3 – 4, A-Level & University students. Focusing on the principles of regeneration using the Etihad Campus as a case study. The presentation will tell the story of East Manchester and look at the site in detail throughout the decades, highlighting the different phases of regeneration to how the site has gotten to where it is today. The experience includes a tour of the site followed by a 45-minute presentation.

Manchester City’s Educational Tour Experiences have been developed with industry experts and Springside Primary School in Bury. Pre- and post-visit lesson plans, presentations, and printable resources are provided for all educational tours. All content created is linked to the English National Curriculum and exam board specifications.

Educational Groups and School Students: • Under 18: £11.00 • Further Education Students 18+: £13.50 (for groups of 100+) £14.00 (for groups of 25-99) £16.00 (for groups of 10-24) • Ratios: for every five primary school pupils, one leader comes free. For every ten secondary school pupils, one leader comes free. • Extra Adults: £17.00 • Other rates are available upon request for non-educational groups.

Our tours typically begin at 10:00am through to 16:00. However, special arrangements can be made to start tours earlier from 09:30 to meet the needs of a group. Educational Tour Experiences are only available during UK school term times.

Stadium Tour: 

• Field questions with a virtual Pep Guardiola in the Press Conference
• See what happens on matchdays in the Home Team dressing room, with an immersive audio-visual show
• Feel what it’s like to walk down the famous glass players tunnel
• Go Pitch-side and get a Pep’s-eye view of the stadium from the dug-outs

• Understand how the players prepare for the big match in the First Team warm-up area

An award-winning educational tour experience at the home of the world champions

Leave the classroom behind and dive into the high performing world of Manchester City with specially curated educational experiences at the home of the world champions.

Pupils can visit the areas used by players on the Etihad Stadium tour, including the dug outs.

Developed with industry experts and aimed at Key Stages 2-4, A-Level and university students, Manchester City  are proud to offer four incredible experiences all linking back to the English National Curriculum and Exam Boards.

Experiences are expertly led by trained guides and delivered to the highest standard. Education groups will have a tour around the Etihad Stadium including behind-the-scenes access and anecdotes whilst paying close attention to areas relating to their chosen subject.

Learning is supported in and out of the classroom with free resources provided both before and after your visit including comprehensive lesson plans, worksheets and accompanying PowerPoint slides. You can also benefit from free on-site parking and indoor eating areas on your visit to help your day run smoothly from start to finish.

Choose from four exciting educational experiences:

Match Report (Key Stages 2-4)

Aligned to the English National Curriculum, students will take a tour of the stadium focusing on the role of the media on a match day. The tour will end in the press conference room, where the pupils will watch a highlights package of an iconic Manchester City match.

Using a range of questioning techniques, the pupils will prepare questions and answers related to moments in the match they have just watched and then interview each other where the real players are interviewed on a match day.

Enjoy working as one of the media team and practising your interviewing techniques.

Day in the Life of a Footballer (Key Stages 2-3)

Follow the daily life of a first-team player from the moment they wake up on match day through to going home after a game. Trained tour guides will give the inside knowledge on preparation, fitness, diet, performance analysis, training and warm-up, wellness, and what players are mentally going through before the whistle.

Professional sportsmen and women need the right types and amount of nutrition for the energy they expend. Students will explore and see the food and hydration required throughout the big day, along with some surprises along the way.

Stadium as a Business (Key Stages 3-4)

Immerse your students at the world-famous Etihad Stadium to explore the multitude of revenue streams that are taken in just a few hours when fans descend to watch the match.

The tour includes many interactive and fun activities for all ages.

During the tour, school groups will get under the skin of four specific commercial outlets looking at their income and costs, and will be encouraged to discuss profit and loss and come up with ideas for each unit to be more profitable.

Urban Regeneration (Key Stages 3-4, A-Level & University)

Focusing on the principles of regeneration and using the Etihad Stadium as a case study, this 45-minute presentation will tell the story of East Manchester and look at the site in detail through the decades, highlighting the different phases of regeneration to how the site has got to where it is today.
