Celtic Woman is bringing an all-new live show to North America to celebrate the Grammy-nominated group's 20th anniversary.

The Celtic Woman 20th Anniversary Tour will delight audiences with its fresh blend of traditional and contemporary Irish music that echoes Ireland's rich musical and cultural heritage while reflecting the vibrant spirit of modern Ireland. 

The 20th Anniversary tour begins in February 2024 and will see the group perform in dozens of locations across the US and Canada through May.

Celtic Woman have announced a 20th Anniversary North American tour

Celtic Woman is comprised of four young Irish women whose performing skills bring centuries of musical and cultural tradition to life.

In concert, their angelic voices and instrumental virtuosity are accompanied by a robust ensemble that includes Irish dancers, bagpipers, and a full band playing an array of traditional Celtic instruments, including bodhrán, tin whistle, bouzouki, and Uilleann pipes.

Returning to the group is soprano Mairéad Carlin, a former member who joins the show for this very special anniversary tour. Joining her are fellow soprano Muirgen O’Mahony, fiddle, and Irish harp maestro Tara McNeill, as well as the newest member of the group, the multi-talented Emma Warren, who has toured with Riverdance, Heartbeat of Home and most recently performed in "Les Miserables" in London.

Celtic Woman's 20th Anniversary television special, album, and DVD

Ahead of Celtic Woman's 20th Anniversary North American tour, PBS will air Celtic Woman's 20th Anniversary Special in more than 60 markets beginning on Thanksgiving. 

Filmed in The Helix Theatre in Dublin, Ireland, Celtic Woman's 20th Anniversary Special takes fans on a journey back to where it all began 20 years ago (and in the very same theatre).

The television special features appearances from four very special guests including original members Lisa Kelly, Máiréad Nesbitt, Méav Ní Mhaolchatha, and Chloë Agnew, who join Celtic Woman for this wonderful TV special packed with emotional and heart-stirring performances.

Following the PBS broadcasts, Celtic Woman's 20th Anniversary album and DVD will be released in January 2024 and features brand-new compositions and arrangements plus some fan favorites.

Amazing show. 10/10 would recommend.

Beautiful voices and really care about their fans and their show. You can feel the emoition in the songs.I think it sounds just as good if not better than the digital versions of the songs. The dancers are really great too.

Celtic Women were great, really enjoyed the show, one we will remember.

We just wish Asheville had a better venue that was designed for concerts rather than ball games.

10 out of 10 for Celtic Women but only 4 out of 10 for the venue.

Come on Ashvegas, build a better venue.

Irish musical ensemble Celtic Woman will be embarking on a mammoth 2024 tour across North America celebrating their 20th anniversary. The 65-date outing kicks off February 22nd in Nashville and stretches into May making stops in Jacksonville, Charlotte, Cleveland, Lancaster, Rochester, Grand Rapids, Las Vegas, Houston, San Diego and Seattle. Prior to the tour, the group will be wrapping up another version of their A Christmas Symphony before the end of the year.

UPDATE: Later in the year, the girls will be launching their White Christmas Symphony Tour visiting cities like Highland, Salt Lake City, Denver, St. Louis, Huntington and Atlanta.

Celtic Woman will continue supporting their latest studio album 'Christmas Cards from Ireland' released on November 4th, 2022 via UMG Recordings, Inc. The new album follows up 2021's 'Postcards from Ireland' which reached #56 in Sweden and features a guest appearance by The Longest Johns on the track 'Beeswing' . Back in 2019, the all-female group launched their Ancient Land Tour followed by another version of their annual Symphony Tour . Current members include Mairéad Carlin, Tara McNeill, Muirgen O'Mahony and Emma Warren.

Celtic Woman: 'We are singing the songs of our land and we take that seriously'

C eltic Woman embarks on a massive US tour to mark their 20th anniversary with the pledge: "We are there singing the songs of our land and we take that seriously."

The four-piece is touring across the US from February to May with more than 70 dates for what promises to be a sonically and visually stunning show.

And speaking to IrishStar.com , Mairéad Carlin explained how the group feels a responsibility to deliver a world-class show to each and every city.

The group was formed in 2004, after Irish female singers were hand-selected to form a chorus that would bring centuries of musical and cultural tradition to life. Though it was slated for a ‘one night only performance’ the group was an instant success and brought Ireland’s rich catalog of classic and contemporary songs to cities all around the world in the years that followed.

Over the years, the rotating cast has included 12 women, such as Chloë Agnew, Lisa Kelly, and Máiréad Nesbitt.

The Anniversary tour will feature Mairéad Carlin, Tara McNeill, Muirgen O'Mahony, and Emma Warren.

Mairéad became a member in 2013, took a hiatus during the pandemic, and will return for the anniversary tour.

“I really feel like I became the woman I am today because of that group," she said, "I made so many of my lifelong friends there. It is a beautiful company to work for but it was really always the music that drew me to it.”

Celtic Woman has changed the life of many artists and audience members alike. For 20 years people have been connecting with music from a time gone by, sometimes in cities with very little Irish connection, where English is not the first language- much less Irish.

“Having songs in the Irish language is important to us. We see ourselves as ambassadors for Ireland when we’re in America. We are there singing the songs of our land and we take that seriously. It’s funny too because no matter where we are, whether it’s China, Japan, or Brazil, people sing along to the words. That’s beautiful.”

While tradition remains at the core of Celtic Woman, their longevity might have something to do with their ability to incorporate the individual styles and tastes of each member. Mairéad said she brings a love of folk and country music, while new member Emma Warren has a musical theatre background.

The Anniversary Tour has over 70 dates in the US between February and May. To endure that many performances and keep the standard of the show at the same high level, Mairéad said the ladies feel a responsibility to give each audience the show they deserve.

“It’s probably the least rock and roll touring group ever,” she joked, “We really have to take care of ourselves - It’s really important because you might have all the energy in the world at the start and then if you don’t look after yourself you’re going to break and then the audience isn’t getting the show they deserve."

The original members of Celtic Woman will return for the 20th anniversary CD and DVD which is available now. The legacy of Celtic Woman has survived generations and will continue to do so if the ticket sales for the tour are anything to go by.

Education | Aerouants take over Dublin’s Emerald High School opening

The last high school opened in the district was pleasanton’s foothill high in 1973..

The $374 million new school boasts fabulous new amenities, such as 2,400-seat gym fit for three full-court basketball games at once, a mental health-and-wellness center, a massive sky-lit student union with a scratch-kitchen cafeteria, a 137-seat lecture hall, a new track and field with 3,885 bleacher seats, eight tennis courts, and an eventual total of 80 classrooms, though portions of the school still under construction.

“It’s pretty big, smells new,” said freshman Michelle Ma, waiting Tuesday with her friends in the campus courtyard before her 8:30 a.m. first period P.E. class.

Ma said she is excited to attend Emerald High because it offers opportunities outside of the previously overcrowded Dublin High.

“I’d definitely rather come here. It’s newer,” Ma said. “Also there’s a chance for a debate team here. I’m not too sure about the debate team at Dublin, and I love debate.”

Her friend, freshman Melaina Destro, marveled at the campus before her first period Spanish II class and said “it’s so clean.”

Destro was most excited to be joining the cheerleading squad, she said.

“I just came here because I think this school is nicer and cleaner,” Destro said. “Dublin is also a lot more crowded.”

Emerald High freshmen last year shared the Dublin High campus, which originally could only accommodate about 2,500 students when it was first built. Some portable classrooms expanded the capacity to about 3,500 last year, which left many classes packed and crowded.

Freshman Alex McKinzie said he was happy to go to Emerald because it is within walking distance of his nearby home. If he went to Dublin High, he would have had to take a bus or catch a ride with his family in the morning.

“It’s a big campus and it’s really nice. And it’s new,” McKinzie said, adding that he plans to try out for the football team.

McKinzie’s friend since 7th grade, fellow freshman Hayden Tran, said the campus is “not that big” compared to Dublin High, “but it looks nicer.”

“Dublin is really overcrowded,” Tran said. “It has a lot of people there. I think here is better.”

Between 2005 and 2018, the Dublin school district was the fastest growing district in the state, averaging roughly 700 new students per year, according to Superintendent Chris Funk.

This new school has a possible capacity of 2,450 people, including 58 employees, once fully completed. The next two phases of the school’s construction will include the opening of the second learning “tower” and then finally the unveiling of a 600-seat theater and performing arts center.

The tower is the second of two three-story learning facilities that eventually will add to the currently open 42 classrooms in the first completed tower. The whole campus contains 226,835 square feet of space.

In 2016, voters approved Measure H, a $170 million bond; Proposition 51 added another $4 million in bond money. In 2020, voters approved the $200 million Measure J to foot the $374 million bill for the school in one of the state’s fastest growing urban regions.

The school is missing baseball and softball facilities, as well as a pool for swimming and diving. But Funk said those sports are still being organized, and the district is still deciding how to facilitate practices, whether that be back at Dublin High or at other city facilities.

The Aerouants’ marching band will continue to partner with the Dublin High Gaels, combining the two programs as Emerald continues to grow. Should students and parents decide they want their own marching band program, Funk said the district is also willing to pay the price for that.

“I’m just very appreciative of the support by our community with the various bonds,” Funk said. “And I know it’s been a long wait, but I think the district has delivered a beautiful state-of-the-art campus for our community.”
