LIFE IS A CARNIVAL: LAST WALTZ TOUR ‘24

zlm tour 2023 live

August 14, 2024 By: Blackbird Presents

This epic tour continues the tradition of capturing the excitement of The Band’s historic 1976 Thanksgiving concert at the famed Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, hailed as the greatest live concert event of all time. This tour also celebrates the legacy of the Band’s co-founder Robbie Robertson, and immediately follows the one night only concert celebration of Robbie at Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California on October 17, 2024, entitled “Life Is a Carnival: A Musical Celebration of Robbie Robertson”.

The multi-city tour kicks off at the Warfield in San Francisco, CA, on October 19 and continues through November 2024, making stops at historic venues throughout the U.S. and Canada. Tickets go on sale August 16, 2024, at 10 AM ET. Tour dates and venues are listed below. A portion of the proceeds from the tour shall be donated to local charities.

Life is a Carnival: Last Waltz Tour ‘24 features a star-studded lineup led by Ryan Bingham, Jamey Johnson, Mike Campbell & Benmont Tench (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers), Don Was, John Medeski, Dave Malone, Terence Higgins, Cyril Neville, Mark Mullins & The Levee Horns (featuring the original horn arrangements of Allen Toussaint). Additionally, Lukas Nelson will be joining the tour for three special shows in Colorado.

“This band, made up of these artists, playing these songs, is what Don and I dreamed of when we began planning this tour. Now the dream is a reality. Do not miss these shows!” says Keith Wortman, Creator and Producer of The Last Waltz Tour franchise.

The Last Waltz Tour is an annual touring franchise established by Blackbird Presents in 2016 at “The Last Waltz New Orleans: A Celebration of the 40th Anniversary of The Last Waltz”, a two-night, sold-out concert event. “The last 30 minutes of The Last Waltz @SaengerNOLA was the best thing I’ve heard @jazzfest,” said Keith Spera, music critic, The New Orleans Advocate.

More about the upcoming tour.

PGA Tour leaderboard today: FedEx St. Jude Championship Round 4 scores

Portrait of Nick Gray

Any drama in the final round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Sunday will be dependent on Hideki Matsuyama.

The 54-hole leader has a five-shot lead over Nick Dunlap. It's going to take a shaky Sunday from Matsuyama and a strong round from the other leaders to make the fourth round interesting atop the leaderboard at TPC Southwind.

Scottie Scheffler is seven shots back of Matsuyama after a 1-under round on Saturday.

Follow along with the updated scores from Round 4 at TPC Southwind with Sunday's leaderboard, with play scheduled to begin at 6:45 a.m.

2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship Full Field: 70 Players Begin PGA Tour Playoffs

John schwarb | aug 12, 2024.

The PGA Tour's playoffs begin this week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Last week’s Wyndham Championship didn’t deliver any craziness in relation to the FedEx Cup Playoffs, as upon its official conclusion Monday ( thanks, Kuch ) the same 70 players remained inside the cutoff for the postseason that were there at the start of the tournament.

So now the chase for serious cash begins, with a pair of $20 million playoff preliminaries followed by the Tour Championship, which will determine $100 million in bonuses including $25 million for the winner. The first stop is the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, Tenn.

Everyone is chasing Scottie Scheffler to start, and if you need another measuring stick of how dominant his year has been, consider this: FedEx Cup points are quadrupled for playoff events, yet Scheffler can only lose his lead this week if he basically finishes last and Xander Schauffele wins. The two-time major champion trails the world No. 1 by 1,936 points and wins now earn 2,000 points.

Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark round out the current top 5 in points.

The key battle is around No. 50, as that’s the cutoff for next week’s BMW Championship as well as entry into all the signature events next season. Going into this week, Jake Knapp is 50th with Harris English and Nick Taylor just one point behind.

Victor Perez has the longest trip to get inside the top 50, sitting at No. 70 and 347 points behind the cutoff.

TPC Southwind hosts this week, a 7,243-yard par-70 course. There will be a new champion this year as 2023 champ Lucas Glover failed to make the playoffs. The winner from 2022, Will Zalatoris, is in the field at No. 49 in points.

Here’s the full field for the FedEx St. Jude Championship:

70 players Åberg, Ludvig An, Byeong Hun Bezuidenhout, Christiaan Bhatia, Akshay Bradley, Keegan Burns, Sam Cantlay, Patrick Clark, Wyndham Cole, Eric Conners, Corey Davis, Cam Day, Jason Detry, Thomas Dunlap, Nick Eckroat, Austin English, Harris Finau, Tony Fitzpatrick, Matt Fleetwood, Tommy Greyserman, Max Griffin, Ben Grillo, Emiliano Hadwin, Adam Harman, Brian Henley, Russell Hoge, Tom Homa, Max Horschel, Billy Hovland, Viktor Hubbard, Mark Hughes, Mackenzie Im, Sungjae Jaeger, Stephan Kim, Si Woo Kim, Tom Kirk, Chris Knapp, Jake Lee, Min Woo Lowry, Shane MacIntyre, Robert Malnati, Peter Matsuyama, Hideki McCarthy, Denny McIlroy, Rory McNealy, Maverick Moore, Taylor Morikawa, Collin Noren, Alex Pavon, Matthieu Pendrith, Taylor Perez, Victor Poston, J.T. 2024 St. Jude Championship leaderboard: Scottie Scheffler two back after 36 holes as FedEx Cup Playoffs begin

Hideki matsuyama and denny mccarthy are tied atop the leaderboard at tpc southwind in memphis.

Two of the three medalists from the 2024 Paris Olympics find themselves in a similar position heading into the weekend in Memphis. Backing up an opening 5-under 65 with a 64 on Friday, Hideki Matsuyama stands at 11 under alongside Denny McCarthy atop the 2024 St. Jude Championship leaderboard.

The pair heads into the second half of the initial playoff event not only one clear of Sam Burns but two clear of gold medalist and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. Surging late on Friday with three birdies in his final four holes, Scheffler signed for a bogey-free 65 to get in the clubhouse at 9 under.

Entering the postseason atop the regular-season FedEx Cup standings, Scheffler has a stranglehold on the spot thanks to his six victories: the Masters, The Players Championship and four signature events. A win may not do anything to improve his starting point at the Tour Championship -- it is all but guaranteed he'll tee off in the pole position at 10 under -- but it would represent a big step towards some potential history.

Tiger Woods (2000) and Vijay Singh (2004) hold the record for most wins in a PGA Tour season with nine; Scheffler has a chance to match their totals should he run the table this postseason.

"Today, it's just nice to have a clean card," Scheffler said. "No bogeys, did a good job of having some nice up-and-downs to kind of keep the momentum and the round going. I holed a nice putt for par early in the round on No. 5, and then I had a couple nice chips after that getting it close to the hole making what could have been a stressful par into a pretty stress-free par with some nice pitches. Overall, it was a pretty good day."

Scheffler has put together plenty of "pretty good" days this season but not all have been as lucky.

It appears certain that Jordan Spieth will be packing his bags unable to advance in the FedEx Cup Playoffs come Sunday evening should a momentous weekend fail to arrive. Winners from this season like Cam Davis, Peter Malnati, and Jake Knapp are on the wrong side of the number, as is budding superstar Min Woo Lee.

The leaders

T1. Denny McCarthy, Hideki Matsuyama (-11):  It hasn't quite turned into a putting contest yet, but don't tell Matsuyama and McCarthy. Matsuyama leads the way through two rounds gaining nearly five strokes on the field with his blade in hand, while McCarthy has been his usual self on the greens. Both of these players have dealt with their fair share of adversity, which makes their positioning atop the leaderboard even more impressive. Matsuyama's team was robbed on his way back from the Olympics, which forced his caddie and coach to return to Japan in order to retrieve new visas and passports. Meanwhile, McCarthy revealed he has been dealing with a torn labrum in his hip similar to Davis Love III and more recently Harris English.

"It's just coming through on the downswing a little bit. It's just hard to maybe get a little more rotation, push up through the ground than I would like. It's been OK," McCarthy said. "The heat really helps it. It really loosens it up. But I've had to spend a lot of time post-round, pre-round getting it loose, getting it ready to go to play a full round. It feels really good. I haven't been thinking about it too much, which is nice. Just kind of been focused on -- sounds cliche, I've just been focused on each shot really, trying to put the same amount of importance and focus into each shot."

3. Sam Burns (-10) 4. Scottie Scheffler (-9) T5. Justin Rose, Nick Dunlap (-8) T7. Viktor Hovland, Billy Horschel, Robert MacIntyre (-7) T10. Will Zalatoris, Erik van Rooyen, Chris Kirk (-6)

Scheffler has yet to do anything spectacular, but he is in a perfect spot to chase down the two leaders. He lost strokes on approach in Round 1 and on the greens in Round 2. Once the entirety of his game comes together -- given his play this year, that seems like it will come in a matter of time -- the rest of the field may be in deep trouble.

"You've got to be playing some really great golf to shoot a low score. There's opportunity out there," Scheffler said. "The greens aren't super firm. You can attack when you're in the fairway. But there's a good amount of water on the course. The Bermuda rough can be tough to judge and there's a good amount of trees, as well. There's trouble around, so you've got to be really on top of your game to shoot low scores."

The reigning champion has life

Viktor Hovland, who claimed the FedEx Cup last year, entered the St. Jude Championship on the outside looking in. Thirty-six holes later, he has positioned himself to play into next week. The last winner at the BMW Championship and Tour Championship, Hovland fired a second-round 63 to jump inside the top 10 on the leaderboard and inside the projected top 50 in the FedEx Cup.

Amid a season where he has played only 13 PGA Tour events and compiled just one top 10 finish, the 27-year-old star appears to have found his footing at the exact right time. Hovland's postseason scoring average in 2023 was 66.17 after opening the St. Jude Championship with a 72. Despite not believing his 2024 will turn out like 2023, there is no denying the start is at least similar.

"I don't think this situation is exactly the same as last year, even though it looks like it," Hovland said. "But where my golf swing kind of feels like, I still know some of those misses are in there and I can feel them. It's not as close as it was last year after I had that range session and felt like things were clicking, and then obviously getting off to a nice start the next day, just kind of rode that momentum.

"This year we still have a little bit of extra work to do. I felt like I had to lean on my putter maybe a little bit too much today. But I do feel like the game is becoming more and more consistent. I can kind of step up and hit the fairway, hit the green multiple holes in a row, and when you get into a rhythm like that, it becomes easier to play golf. Hopefully we can just keep going on that."

FedEx Cup bubble

2024 st. jude championship updated odds, picks.

  • Scottie Scheffler: 2-1
  • Hideki Matsuyama: 3-1
  • Sam Burns: 13/2
  • Denny McCarthy: 8-1
  • Viktor Hovland: 22-1
  • Xander Schauffele: 25-1
  • Justin Rose: 30-1
  • Billy Horschel: 30-1
  • Nick Dunlap: 30-1

Halfway through the tournament, Scheffler is still not down to half of his pre-tournament number. This may be the last chance to get him at 2-1, especially if Matsuyama's putting and McCarthy's irons slip up (both prone to such mistakes). While Scheffler is the selection to ultimately win, Rose is the best price on the board. He leads the field in strokes gained tee to green and should find the putter over the weekend.

Rory's rough day continues

He is now 3 over on the two par 5s and 1 over for the tournament. He's compounded mistakes, failed to take advantage of solid approaches and generally played poorly today. It's easy to look at those two holes in particular and feels as if he lost five strokes to the field, which would have him 4 under and not completely out of the tournament in a different world.

Horschel continuing to ride momentum

It's been a solid three-tournament stretch for the 2014 FedEx Cup champion. After back-to-back top 10s, he has eyes on more of the same and has gotten in the clubhouse at 7 under and just four off the 36-hole pace.

McIlroy, Morikawa stalling

The Nos. 3 and 4 in the FedEx Cup are fighting to stay around par at this point in the tournament which is not a good place to be. They both stand at even par through 14 holes of their second round and will need a big finish to begin that march towards the top.

Kirk hoping to close strong

It's been a solid day for the overnight leader as he stands at 8 under with a chance to get one more on No. 16. After beginning with three straight birdies, Kirk has held strong thanks to some timely putting, but his tee to green game isn't near the quality of yesterday.

Rory turns in 2 over

It has been a poor start for the world No. 3 and he is in danger of dropping down the peloton. After signing for a 68 in Round 1, McIlroy made a mess of the par-5 3rd and made a double bogey. While he has added birdies since, he has also added a couple more squares and is even par for the tournament, 11 off the lead.

Bogey-free 65 from Scottie Scheffler today. He'll enter tomorrow likely two off the lead and has the potential to draw Sam Burns in terms of pairings which would provide a very comfortable Saturday for the world No. 1.

Scheffler surges at the end

The world No. 1 is at again. Two birdies in his last three holes have him at 9 under for the tournament and only a couple behind Denny McCarthy and Hideki Matsuyama heading into the weekend.

Kirk starts with three straight

The overnight leader is at it again. Birdies arrive on his first three holes and push him back in the mix at 9 under and only two behind Denny McCarthy. Kirk has had a rather forgettable season after winning in Week 1 at The Sentry. He accumulated 700 points for that win which would be good enough alone to be inside the top 60 entering the week.

Pendrith pushing early

The Canadian is playing for plenty as he entered the week world No. 50 and on the fringe of Tour Championship contention. He rattles off two straight birdies to reach 7 under and only a handful behind Denny McCarthy at 11 under. Pendrith is also playing for Presidents Cup consideration, which feels like a lock given his last few months.

Denny extends his lead

McCarthy is absolutely rolling right now despite the news of a torn labrum in his hip emerging during his round. He's altered his swing lately to work around the injury and it is working today. He is now 7 under through 16 holes thanks to nine birdies on his scorecard. He's up to 11 under and two clear of Hideki Matsuyama who just made the turn.

Hovland gives himself hope heading into weekend

The reigning FedEx Cup champion was en fuego on Friday. Off early, Hovland took advantage of the cooler temperatures carding eight birdies — six of which came on his front nine. Putting one square on his scorecard as well, Hovland stands at 7 under and is projected to move inside the top 50.

Scheffler, Schauffele add early birdies

Someone from this group will touch the lead today, perhaps even both. Early birdies have them both at 5 under for the tournament and Xander Schauffele has a great look for another on the par-3 4th to pull within a few of the leaders.
