You will need to purchase an additional seat at normal fare to accommodate the car seat in which your baby can travel in extra comfort.

Car seat safety requirements

• only rear-facing car seats for children can be taken on board
• must be equipped with a latch to securely fasten it with the passenger seat belt

For safety reasons the loop belt must be used for take-off and landing and whenever the seat belt sign is on. The loop belt will be provided by Wizz Air during boarding and must be returned after the flight

Enter “INFANT” as the passenger’s first name when booking online. The passenger’s surname should be added in the last name field.

If an extra seat was booked, you don’t have to pay an infant fee. Additional infant baggage allowance is not applicable.

Things to take with you on board

• Food and drinks for the baby, packed in accordance with the safety regulations
• Something to chew during take-off and landing (little ones often don't know how to pop their ears to release pressure)
• A change of clothes for you and your baby
• Extra dummies (if your child uses them)
• One nappy for every hour of your journey

The location for an infant car seat is a window seat. The seat next to the infant car seat must be occupied by a physically able person, at least 16 years old, who is responsible for the child in the car seat.

As babies must sit in an adult’s lap on the plane, each infant on board must be accompanied by an adult. Furthermore, each infant travelling in a group enjoying Priority Boarding allows early boarding for 2 adults in that party. This means that a family with 2 infants in their party could include 4 adults in their Priority Boarding group, and so on. This proportion of 1 baby/2 adults in a reservation travelling together is only limited by the allowed number of children under 2 allowed on the plane.

Has anyone got any experience of using Wizz Air with an infant? (Don't judge, my Dad booked and didn't realise how shi...terrible Wizz Air was!) We are going on holiday in a few months with my then 8mo and flying Wizz Air. Their website only gives so much info, their bot chat doesn't answer my questions, and I begrudge paying the cost of upgrading to a better airline on call centre rates!! And yes, I'm getting good travel insurance sorted asap! We are allowed one 'bulky' item for baby - travel cot will go in suitcase so ours will be a buggy. I've heard the 'hack' of packing towels/nappies in the bag with a buggy - will they check? Has anyone done this with Wizz? Infants get Priority boarding with 2 adults - I understand the why, but it would be far easier for my Dad and partner to board Priority, get everything settled and baggage in overhead etc, then I can walk around/keep baby entertained and change nappy right before boarding at the last minute (not sat on a cramped plane for 2hrs with a bored and cranky baby while everyone boards!) Does baby have to go on with the 2 Priority adults? I know the second one is probably a yes - baby has to board but just wondering if anyone had any experience? I plan on shoving towels in the buggy basket then folding and packing it all in the bag before boarding, with nappies/wipes picked up from Boots Click&Collect in there too, so it'll only be gate staff who may check it?

Wizz Air will launch its longest route from the UK next year with the first budget airline flights to Saudi Arabia .

The company has promised to offer “unbeatable fares” using a new Airbus A321XLR plane.

Flights from Gatwick to Jeddah will be Wizz Air’s longest UK route and the airline said single fares will start from £134.99.

The carrier announced it will begin flying between Gatwick Airport, West Sussex, and Jeddah from March 31.

Wizz Air has 47 of the planes on order, and will base the first it receives at Gatwick.

The enhanced fuel capacity of the jets means they will have a maximum range of up to 11 hours flying time and burn up to 30% less fuel per seat than previous generation aircraft, according to Airbus.

Wizz Air chief executive Jozsef Varadi said: “The Airbus A321XLR is the most cost-efficient aircraft in its class.

“Its enhanced range capability allows Wizz Air to connect the farthest destinations in its network, while also providing opportunities for further expansion, connecting more cultures, economies and continents.

“We are excited to offer unbeatable fares to our customers on the new route from London Gatwick to Jeddah.

“Since establishing our base at London Gatwick in 2020, we have demonstrated ambitious growth, making it a natural, strategic decision to operate our first Airbus A321XLR from this airport.”

British Airways is to launch flights between London’s Heathrow airport and Jeddah on November 4.

Asked how Wizz Air’s fares to Saudi Arabia will compare with those offered by British Airways, Mr Varadi said: “BA decides on how they price themselves, and we decide how we price ourselves.

“But one thing I know is my cost is a third of British Airways’ cost.”

Flights will last around seven hours and will operate overnight on the outbound route from Gatwick, with seats that do not recline.

Mr Varadi said 15 years ago he thought three-hour flights on an ultra-low-cost airline would “test passengers’ tolerance” but found that people “vote with their wallets”.

He added that people who travel in economy class “sacrifice some level of comfort” for “economic benefits”, and Wizz Air’s flights to Saudi Arabia are “a hell of a deal”.

Wizz Air said the A321XLR’s “carbon intensity” is estimated to be “at least 30% less” than that of other aircraft.

Jeddah has a warm, arid climate with an average of just 61mm of rain per year spread out over a handful of days. Even in winter, average highs range between 29C and 33C, with lows of 19C in January and February. It’s best to visit between October and April if possible, as summer temperatures may become sweltering; average temperatures in July and August lie at 33C, with highs hitting around 38C.

Wizz Air launches longest-ever 3,000 mile route with prices from £134.99

Wizz Air has unveiled a new long-haul route from Gatwick Airport to Saudi Arabia — with tickets starting from just £134.99.

The budget airline has announced it will launch a fleet of new Airbus A321XLR jets, along with the new route from London which covers a distance of almost 3,000 miles.

Gatwick – the UK’s second busiest airport – will get the first extra long-haul jet when Wizz Air receives the 47 planes it has ordered from the manufacturer.

The new route from West Sussex to the Saudi port city of Jeddah is due to launch at the end of March 2025, the airline confirmed.

From London to Jeddah in seven hours

The airline boss said the A321XLR is ‘the most cost-efficient aircraft in its class,’ adding that basing its first long-haul plane at Gatwick was a ‘natural, strategic decision.’

‘We are very excited,’ he said about the Jeddah route.

The A321XLR with is enhanced fuel capacity due to an extra tank burns up to 30% less fuel per seat than the previous model, according to manufacturer Airbus.

Along with the Jeddah route, Wizz Air has also announced a new route from Milan to Abu Dhabi using the new planes.

The A321XLR boasts up to eight-hour flight capacity compared to six hours on the previous model, while it has 239 seats like the earlier A321neo.

The Gatwick to Jeddah route will be Wizz Air’s longest UK route, with single tickets starting from £134.99.

Flight time to Jeddah will be around seven hours overnight on the outbound route. While the seats will be non-reclinable, Varadi said they are ‘ergonomic’ and offer a ‘sense of space.’

It comes after three days of disruption have plagued Gatwick, prompting the Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary to call for the head of air traffic control to step down .

‘Challenging’ times

Jozsef Varadi, chief executive of Wizz Air, announced the new route amid ‘a challenging environment’ caused by recent delays at Gatwick Airport.

He said: ‘Air traffic control remains challenging. The UK is a testimonial of the issue, but it’s not limited to the UK and Gatwick Airport.’

Mr Varadi said air traffic control staff being laid off during the Covid pandemic , July’s global Microsoft IT outage and ‘geographical challenges’ caused by Russian airspace closure have also caused problems.

Wizz Airmade headlines recently after it was named the worst UK airline for delays for the third year in a row, followed by Turkish Airlines and Tui , according to an analysis by the PA news agency.

The airline said previously it had made ‘significant improvements’ and there is ‘still work to be done.’

Mr Varadi said they are ‘trying to address’ delays.

While Wizz Air declined to reveal the cost of each new long-haul plane, industry estimates have put the price tag of an A321neo model at around £98.9 million.

How Wizz Air compares to British Airways

British Airways has also announced flights to Jeddah from its base at Heathrow Airport – due to launch on November 4.

Wizz Air boss Varadi commented on the BA ticket pricing, saying the airline ‘decides on how they price themselves, and we decide how we price ourselves.’

‘But one thing I know is my cost is a third of British Airways’ cost,’ he added.

Wizz Air has 223 aircraft, while British Airways boasts 299 planes.

The budget airline employs more than 8,200 staff while BA workforce is approximately 35,000 people.

British Airways flies to 80 countries while Wizz Air covers destinations in 54 countries.

All About Kelly Piquet's Daughter, Penelope — Including Her Sweet Bond With Max Verstappen

Kelly Piquet says being a mom has taught her “ unconditional love .”

The Brazilian model and columnist welcomed Penelope on July 27, 2019, with ex-boyfriend and F1 racer Daniil Kyvat. Penelope lives in Monaco with Piquet and her boyfriend, fellow F1 racer and three-time world champion Max Verstappen .

“Motherhood is an incredible Pandora's box full of surprises,” Piquet told Vogue Netherlands in October 2023.

“Every phase is so beautiful and special in itself,” she continued. “I really miss the phases [of] being a newborn, or a tiny toddler, and now she's so grown up...She’s so smart, creative, happy and funny. She’s amazing.”

Piquet often expresses her love for “Baby P” on her Instagram , sharing in May 2021 that being a mother has been the “greatest gift on earth.”

From her hobbies to her sweet bond with Max Verstappen, here’s everything to know about Kelly Piquet’s daughter, Penelope.

She was born in July 2019

Piquet and Kyvat welcomed Penelope on July 27, 2019.

Three days later, Piquet announced the birth on Instagram , writing, “•27/07• The greatest gift on earth 💗 Words can’t describe my love for you Penelope 😭 @danydk1.”

Piquet and Kyvat split a few months after Penelope was born. At the end of 2020, Piquet began dating three-time F1 world champion Verstappen, with whom she has been raising Penelope in Monaco.

When Penelope turned 5 years old in July 2024, Piquet posted on Instagram that being her mother had “transformed me in every way possible.”

“I became a mama and you made me discover love’s purest form,” she added.

She goes by the nickname “P”

In the months before Penelope’s birth, Piquet had already begun referring to her baby as “Baby P” in multiple Instagram posts.

In March 2019, Piquet shared photos on Instagram from her baby shower with the caption, “Pink day for Baby P 💖.”

Even Piquet's boyfriend and his friends call her “P.” During a livestream racing simulator event , Verstappen yelled, “I’m coming, P,” into the other room in the middle of the race.

A few minutes later, Penelope was standing in front of the screen watching the stream when Verstappen pointed to the screen and joked, “You see, P… they’re all idiots.”

One of his opponents responded, “And P, the one you’re hugging is the biggest one.”

Shortly after, Penelope kissed Verstappen on the forehead, and he responded, “So nice of you, P.”

She is a ballerina

Penelope has already developed some hobbies and talents, including ballet. Piquet has referred to her daughter on social media as her “little ballerina.”

In June 2023, Piquet shared photos and videos on Instagram from her daughter’s first ballet presentation. In the post, Penelope was pictured wearing a white tutu, hair flowers and ballet slippers.

“I wouldn’t have missed this for the world 🩰💕🥹,” Piquet wrote.

But ballet isn’t the only activity Penelope has participated in. Piquet grew up riding horses and wanted to share the hobby with her daughter.

In December 2021, Piquet posted clips of Penelope riding a horse with the caption, “P’s first time riding a horse where I also rode for the first time and spent my childhood 🥺💖 #Yeeeehaaaaw.”

She is her mom’s best travel buddy

Penelope and her mother have visited numerous destinations together, ranging from Miami and New York City to Sao Paulo and St. Tropez, France.

In January 2024, Piquet posted a photo on Instagram with her daughter at the airport, writing that she was “already planning my next little adventure with the best travel buddy 🖤.”

In April 2024, they visited Disneyland Tokyo during their trip to Japan. Between amusement parks, shopping, museums, boat rides, skiing and zoos, the mother-daughter duo has created many memories across the globe.

“Best few days in the land down under with my mini 🇦🇺🦘 Melbourne I had so much fun!!! And to see it through P’s eyes… First time in Australia and already looking forward to being back again to explore some more ❤️,” she wrote on Instagram in March 2024.

She often makes appearances during Max Verstappen’s races

Verstappen has developed a sweet relationship with his girlfriend's daughter.

“I’m not the father, that’s not the aim,” Verstappen told TIME in November 2023. “It’s always very important that she has a good relationship with her own father, which she has. But I see her every day when I’m at home. We get on very well. She’s very cute.”

When Verstappen isn’t on the real-life race tracks, he frequently participates in virtual sim racing streams. While babysitting Penelope, viewers frequently witness her interferences in which she often barges in and refers to him as “Maxie.”

But on real-life race days, Penelope supports him from the stands with her mother. When Verstappen won the Japanese Grand Pix in April 2024, F1 posted a video on Instagram of Penelope in her mother’s arms, waving and cheering for Verstappen.

“Max, yeah! Max, yeah!” Penelope cheered.

She celebrated her 5th birthday with an enchanted garden birthday party

In July 2024, Penelope celebrated her 5th birthday with an enchanted butterfly garden party.

Piquet shared a photo on Instagram of Penelope dressed in butterfly wings and wrote that the last five years have made her heart “burst of love.”

Two years earlier, Penelope celebrated her 3rd birthday with a mermaid-themed bash. Piquet shared photos on Instagram in July 2022 of Penelope dressed as a mermaid and having glitter applied to her face. The photos also featured Piquet’s mother, Sylvia Tampsa-Piquet, and Verstappen in attendance.

“Exactly 3 years ago, right before midnight, you came into my life and rocked my world forever. You are the most special human being I know and you teach me every day. I will forever be your biggest supporter. I love you my sweet P 💖 #BabyPturns3,” Piquet wrote on Instagram in July 2022.

She is adventurous

In March 2023, when Penelope was just 3 years old, she learned to swim on a trip to Bahrain with Piquet and Verstappen. On that same trip, she rode shotgun in a go-kart for the first time, getting a glimpse at the racing world familiar to Verstappen and Piquet, whose father, Nelson, was an F1 driver in the 1980s.

Piquet shared clips from the trip on Instagram with the caption, “From the most special dinner in the desert, to a fun boat day, to P finally learning how to swim on her own, P’s first time in a go kart, water parks, movies, arcades, and to ending the trip with a fantastic start to the race year.”

In August 2023, Piquet posted a video on Instagram of her and Penelope sea bobbing on Verstappen’s back.

The following year, Penelope enjoyed her "first snow" in photos Piquet posted on Instagram of the little girl dog sledding.

Wizz Air is to launch the UK's first budget airline flights to Saudi Arabia, promising to offer "unbeatable fares". The carrier announced it will begin flying between Gatwick Airport, West Sussex, and Jeddah from March 31 next year using a new Airbus A321XLR plane.

Wizz Air has 47 of the planes on order and will base the first it receives at Gatwick. The enhanced fuel capacity of the jets means they will have a maximum range of up to 11 hours flying time and burn up to 30% less fuel per seat than previous generation aircraft, according to Airbus.

Wizz Air chief executive Jozsef Varadi said: "The Airbus A321XLR is the most cost-efficient aircraft in its class. Its enhanced range capability allows Wizz Air to connect the farthest destinations in its network, while also providing opportunities for further expansion, connecting more cultures, economies and continents.

"We are excited to offer unbeatable fares to our customers on the new route from London Gatwick to Jeddah. Since establishing our base at London Gatwick in 2020, we have demonstrated ambitious growth, making it a natural, strategic decision to operate our first Airbus A321XLR from this airport."

Flights from Gatwick to Jeddah will be Wizz Air's longest UK route. The airline said single fares will start from £134.99. British Airways is to launch flights between London's Heathrow airport and Jeddah on November 4.

Asked how Wizz Air's fares to Saudi Arabia will compare with those offered by British Airways, Mr Varadi said: "BA decides on how they price themselves, and we decide how we price ourselves. But one thing I know is my cost is a third of British Airways' cost."

Flights will last around seven hours and will operate overnight on the outbound route from Gatwick, with seats that do not recline. Mr Varadi said 15 years ago he thought three-hour flights on an ultra-low-cost airline would "test passengers' tolerance" but found that people "vote with their wallets".

He added that people who travel in economy class "sacrifice some level of comfort" for "economic benefits", and Wizz Air's flights to Saudi Arabia are "a hell of a deal". Wizz Air said the A321XLR's "carbon intensity" is estimated to be "at least 30% less" than that of other aircraft.
