When you book your cruise with Fora , your Virgin Voyages travel agent (a.k.a. New to Virgin Voyages? Here’s what makes the adults-only cruise line special

virgin voyages travel agent rate

Before we get into why it makes so much sense to book your cruise with a Virgin Voyages travel agent, here’s an overview of why we’re obsessed with Virgin Voyages in the first place.

The short version: Virgin Voyages offers a fresh, luxurious take on something that was already a blast. There are a lot of reasons to love Virgin Voyages’ adults-only cruises , from the high-tech, adult-oriented amenities to the electric, carefree atmosphere.

Here’s the long version.

The crews are welcoming and the atmosphere is inclusive

Virgin Voyages caters to the young at heart, but expect to see travelers from all walks of life aboard — better yet, expect to see travelers from all walks of life having a great time.

Similarly diverse crews and performers are super nice and helpful, with a talent for making travelers feel welcome, too.

Both contribute to a cosmopolitan vibe not unlike the world’s coolest cities, a sharp contrast from what you’ll typically encounter on run-of-the-mill cruise liners.

There’s a focus on wellbeing & relaxation… when you want it

There’s no denying that Virgin Voyages’ party scene is electric — the nightlife and entertainment constantly win awards — but that doesn’t mean you have to party your whole trip.

There’s a definite choose-your-own-adventure vibe on Virgin Voyages, with tons of relaxing spa and fitness options to complement the high-energy social scene.

Want to do nothing but enjoy fine dining, spa treatments and ocean views from the hammock on your private terrace? No problem. Want to sing, dance, drink and eat under neon lights with lively crowds? That’s great, too.

In any case, your Virgin Voyages travel agent has the lowdown on all the most adventurous and relaxing things to do. Plan your cruise with Fora , and we’ll make sure you have the time of your life.

The food and drink options are awesome, diverse and just plain better

Food and drink is another area where Virgin Voyages really stands apart from other cruise lines. You won’t find the typical buffet-style dining halls aboard. Instead, virtually all the eateries are either full-service, sit-down restaurants or quick-service vendors.

As with everything on Virgin Voyages, the options are wide ranging, including plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free choices. Oh, and it’s all included in the ticket price (i.e., you don’t have to pay extra for “specialty dining”).

The events and entertainment on Virgin Voyages cruises are fresh, fun & adult-friendly

Each ship in the Virgin Voyages fleet has its own lineup of events and entertainment, but they all share a common theme: this isn’t your average lineup. The production quality of Virgin Voyages’ shows is simply on another level compared to ordinary cruise lines. And since you have to be 18 or older to board, the shows and venues are much more adult-friendly across the board (pun intended).

Even standard guest cabins are luxurious & contemporary

If you have ever stayed at Virgin Hotels, like their location in NOLA (check out the most unique places to stay in New Orleans ), you will have an idea of what to expect for accommodations on Virgin Voyages.

Even the most basic cabins on Virgin ships offer a degree of luxury and style that outclasses other cruise lines. The decor is generally minimalist — but there’s an artful elegance to each choice, often blending contemporary and retro styles for a look that’s unique, fun and perhaps most importantly, convenient. You don’t have to worry about not having enough space or power outlets, for example.

Moreover, many of the rooms can be customized to your needs. And obviously, a Virgin Voyages travel agent can totally help you with that.

…And so much more!

virgin voyages travel agent rate

We can write volumes on what makes Virgin Voyages so great — in fact, we did in both our guide to Virgin Voyages adults-only cruises and our firsthand account of cruising on the Scarlet Lady . But if you want to personalize your travel experience, you're best off connecting with Fora .

Virgin Voyages destinations: the Bahamas, Greece, New Zealand & more

As great as Virgin Voyages ships are, if the destination isn’t enticing, embarking is a tough sell. Fortunately, you don’t have to worry about lack-luster destinations with Virgin Voyages, and there are dozens of top-tier itineraries that take travelers to awesome locales in the Caribbean, Europe, the South Pacific and more.

1. The Caribbean: Puerto Plata, Bimini, St. Croix, San Juan…

virgin voyages travel agent rate

From Old San Juan to the coolest resorts in the Bahamas , there are dozens of ports that Virgin Voyages sails to throughout the Caribbean, with durations lasting between four and eight days. In fact, depending on your itinerary, you can visit as many as seven destinations during a single trip.

Sidenote: if you’re traveling from the United States, Caribbean cruises tend to be a little more affordable compared to Virgin Voyages’ other itineraries. Better yet: there’s absolutely no drop-off in quality.

(P.S. See the most exciting things to do in Old San Juan .)

2. Europe: the Greek Isles, Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Amsterdam…

virgin voyages travel agent rate

Whether you’re interested in the best places to visit in Greece (including some of the best Greek Islands for couples and solo travelers) or a Spain-bucket-list destination , Virgin Voyages takes travelers to some of Europe’s coolest coastal cities and islands.

Most Virgin Voyages cruises in Europe traverse the Mediterranean, but there are also cruises that depart from the UK to Belgium and the Netherlands. The shortest trips only last three days, but there are also 12-day options.

As always, a Virgin Voyages travel agent can help you select an itinerary that best matches your style and budget. Just connect with Fora to get started.

3. Australia & the South Pacific: Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Brisbane…

virgin voyages travel agent rate

Virgin Voyages’ South Pacific cruises largely focus on various urban hubs in Australia and New Zealand, from Sydney to Auckland and Melbourne to Brisbane. There are a greater number of short-term trips in the South Pacific, with most options running from three to five days. However, a handful of trips last over a week.

(Curious about Australia’s coveted coast beneath Brisbane? Check out our guide to the Gold Coast, Australia .)

4. Transatlantic cruises: Singapore, Miami, Dubai, Athens…

virgin voyages travel agent rate

The crème de la crème of Virgin Voyages itineraries, transatlantic voyages take travelers from one end of the world to the next, with most options lasting around two weeks. Some itineraries take you from Miami to some of the most unique places to visit in Spain , while others start in Singapore and end in Dubai.

Incredibly, the price tag on these voyages is quite reasonable considering their length and the destinations (which also include places like Lisbon, Santorini, Bali and Zeebrugge).

Virgin Voyages launches new travel agent platform

Virgin Voyages has opened bookings for its series of UK cruises

Virgin Voyages’ new E-Learning platform is a “one-stop-shop and resource tool” for the line’s travel agent partners.

Known as the ‘Seacademy’, it has been designed to help agents learn about different areas of the brand, ranging from destinations to on-board activities.

The platform features four learning levels, from violet to gold. The first tier is now available on FirstMates.com, the line’s agent hub.

Travel agents who complete the violet tier on or before 31 January 2021 will receive an invite to sail on either Scarlet Lady or Valiant Lady in 2021.

In addition, each level has its own reward to encourage agents to complete each tier at their own pace. Benefits include access to upcoming pre-inaugural events, bonus commission vouchers and access to agent rates. Agents who complete each tier will also receive access to social media assets.

Virgin Voyages AVP international sales Shane Riley said: “We already have an extensive First Mates learning programme, including face-to-face Facebook lives, webinars and more.

“The development of our E-Learning platform is in direct response to requests from our First Mate partners, offering them a meaningful format to learn at their own pace with clear bitesize modules. We conducted a survey and 96 per cent of First Mates told us an E-Learning platform would be a valuable addition.”

Writing for Cruise Trade News  in November, Riley added: “For our travel agent partners we wanted to reward their loyalty by launching our Brilliant To Do Business With promise.

“This includes a significant commission increase to support agents with rebuilding their business. As we’ve seen, booking with a professional agent is more important than ever. The darkest hour comes before the dawn and I believe the industry will have a bright dawn. The time to sail will come again and we’ll be counting down every moment.”

Sailing Club levels

The Sailing Club levels are Sea-Blazers and Sea-Rovers.

Sea-Blazers

How to earn: Sea-Blazers earned status by sailing once during 2021.

Best benefits: Deep Blue Extras through 2024, extra $125 for every $300 bar tab purchased for life.

How to earn: Sea-Rovers earned status by sailing twice between Jan. 1, 2022, and Dec. 31, 2023.

Best benefits: Deep Blue Extras through 2024.

For those who missed those dates, the Virgin Voyages Sailing Club will announce new ways to join at some point in 2024.

Deep Blue Extras

If you're a Sea-Blazer or a Sea-Rover, you're entitled to perks called Deep Blue Extras. This includes expedited boarding, a $100 bar tab credit, unlimited premium Wi-Fi, dedicated sailor services, an exclusive cocktail event, laundry service and a $10 daily specialty coffee credit per cabin.

Virgin Voyages offers free Wi-Fi to all travelers as part of its package. However, those with elite status who qualify for Deep Blue Extras are eligible for complimentary premium Wi-Fi, as well as those staying in select suites.

Virgin Voyages cruises are more inclusive than those at many other cruise lines. The cruise cost includes traditional and speciality dining, juice, soda, Wi-Fi, gratuities and group fitness classes. You’ll still need to pay for alcohol that you drink.

Virgin Voyages doesn’t offer any all-inclusive drink packages. Instead, you have the option of purchasing a bar tab up to 24 hours before sailing or paying per drink on board. If you have Sailing Club elite status, you’ll be eligible for a $100 bar tab credit. Certain promotions also offer onboard credits with the purchase of a bar tab.

No, Virgin Voyages doesn't require any COVID test or vaccine to board.

Unlike many other cruise lines, Virgin Voyages is available exclusively to adults. This means that those under the age of 18 aren't able to board a Virgin Voyages ship.

Virgin Voyages has a few locations from where it sails. In the U.S., it takes off exclusively from its terminal in Miami.

For its Mediterranean cruises, departures are from Barcelona, Spain, or Athens, Greece.

Finally, for cruises in Oceania, cruises can start in Auckland, New Zealand, or Melbourne, Australia.

Note that Virgin Voyages repositions its ships each year, which means there will occasionally be some interesting itineraries as these ships cross oceans. These include sailings with stops in Dubai, Thailand, India, Singapore, Indonesia and more.

Cruising with Virgin

The brainchild of British entrepreneur Richard Branson, Virgin Voyages is a hip, adults-only cruise line that aims to be a bit different from the other options on the cruising market. And according to recent cruisers, it succeeds; many rave that a Virgin Voyages sailing is unlike any cruise experience they've had before (in a good way). Virgin Voyages' ships stand out with their superyacht-inspired atmosphere, upscale dining outlets, free Wi-Fi access, design-forward staterooms and wellness activities. There are four ships in the fleet (the newest ship debuts in 2024):  Scarlet Lady ,  Valiant Lady , Resilient Lady and Brilliant Lady (scheduled to debut in 2024). The line sails to a variety of destinations around the globe, including popular spots in the Caribbean, Europe and the South Pacific. Virgin's ships have departed from ports in  Miami ;  San Juan, Puerto Rico ;  Barcelona , Spain;  Athens, Greece ;  Dubai, United Arab Emirates ;  Singapore ;  Melbourne, Australia ; and  Auckland, New Zealand  so far, and Virgin continues to switch up itineraries to sail from destinations around the world. Itineraries typically last anywhere from two to 15 nights.

Cruisers can enjoy numerous amenities on Virgin's ships, including swanky pools with plenty of lounge seating, group workout classes, unique evening performances and more. Meanwhile, foodies will appreciate the ships' 20-plus dining venues and specialty bars, and the fact that sodas, drip coffee and other "essential drinks" are included in the cruise fare. Shore excursion options (called “Shore Things” by the cruise line) range from snorkeling and exploring Mayan ruins in Mexico to cultural tours and beach club relaxation in the  Bahamas  to scenic bike rides and food tastings in  Corfu, Greece . Keep in mind that Virgin Voyages excursions are subject to change based on the time of year, weather, availability and more.

U.S. News Insider Tip:  One detail to note about Virgin Voyages is the line’s four ships are nearly identical and feature the same layout. This means you can focus on finding a cruise with the dates and itinerary you want without having to compare ships or unique amenities. –  Holly Johnson, Contributor

Before You Book

  • Note: To see Virgin Voyages' flexible deposit, cancellation and rebooking policies, visit its website .
  • Virgin Voyages requires a deposit of 20% of the cruise fare to confirm a booking. A reservation can be held for 24 hours without a deposit up to 45 days prior to sailing; bookings made within 44 days of the sailing (or less) require full payment at the time of booking.
  • Final payment is due 120 days before the trip departure date.
  • The cancellation policy varies depending on when you decide to cancel your cruise and how much of it you've paid. Depending on the timing, you may be eligible for a full refund of the deposit and any payments, a refund of any payments (but not the deposit) or a future cruise credit. If you cancel 44 days or less before your cruise, you are not eligible for any refund or credit. For more information, see the Cancellation Policies section on the Virgin Voyages terms and conditions page .
  • The cruise line allows only adults ages 18 or older on its cruises.
  • If you are pregnant, you must be less than 24 weeks by the end of the sailing to book a trip with Virgin Voyages.
  • At the time of booking, guests are asked to notify the cruise line of any special requirements or accommodation needed, including wheelchair access and service animal requests. Cruisers requiring a service animal must notify the cruise line no later than 21 days prior to departure. You also can call Virgin Voyages directly at 1-954-488-2955 to request assistance with these matters.

Before You Board

  • Cruisers will need a current passport that's valid for six months past the end of the voyage date.
  • Check-in for Virgin Voyages cruises takes place entirely on the line's mobile app. This means you don’t have to print cruise tickets or bring other printed documentation along.
  • Boarding is typically around 2 p.m. and disembarkation times vary by cruise. Virgin Voyages instructs travelers to refer to their booking confirmation for additional information on timing and notes the departure time listed means the exact time the ship leaves the dock, so cruisers should plan accordingly to arrive well in advance.
  • There are no specific luggage restrictions, but Virgin recommends limiting the number of bags you bring on board. If you are arriving at your departure destination by plane, be sure to consult airline luggage policies before your trip.
  • Cruisers can book shore excursions – which Virgin calls "Shore Things" – in the Sailor App at least 120 days prior to sailing. Travelers booked in RockStar Quarters will be able to book shore excursions 135 days ahead of sailing. Payment is due at the time of booking.
  • Passengers can secure dining reservations and entertainment starting 45 days before departure through the Sailor App or via a travel agent. Those booked in higher-level accommodations (Mega RockStar and RockStar Quarters) receive early access to reservations: 60 days prior to departure. Reservations for spa and wellness experiences can only be made on board.

Disclaimers about ship ratings: A ship’s Health Rating is based on vessel inspection scores published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If a ship did not receive a CDC score within 22 months prior to the calculation of its Overall Rating, its Health Rating appears as N/A; in such a case, the ship’s Overall Rating is calculated using the average Health Rating of all CDC-rated ships within the cruise line. All ship Traveler Ratings are based on ratings provided under license by Cruiseline.com.

Omsk: Western Siberia's hidden gem

A city view of Omsk. Source: Dmitry Feoktistov

A city view of Omsk. Source: Dmitry Feoktistov

Omsk was founded in 1716 when a wooden fort was constructed to house a Cossack unit in the area to protect the expanding Russian frontier from Central Asian nomadic incursions. It served various administrative functions throughout the 1800s and became infamous as a place of exile and incarceration. The city was rundown when selected as a hub for the Trans-Siberian railway in the 1890s. Many international trade companies and foreign consulates relocated here and the remnants of their offices can still be found in the city today.

The mystery of Kolchak’s gold

Omsk became the headquarters of the anti-Bolshevik white army led by Admiral Aleksandr Kolchak in 1918. In late 1918 there was a revolt in the city initiated by a leftist faction (Socialist Revolutionary Party or SPs) with 500 rebel deaths at the hands of Cossacks and Czechoslovak soldiers, a major factor in convincing the SPs to join the Bolsheviks. There is a large Soviet-era monument to the uprising at the corner of Lenina street and Broz Tito street.

Kolchak was entrusted with a large portion of the Tsarist’s gold reserves, yet amazingly lost much of it. Supposedly 250 million rubles were lost (about $8 million at the time). Legend has it that they were buried near the village of Taiga, yet numerous excavations have turned up nothing. The area still attracts the occasional fortune seeker.

virgin voyages travel agent rate

Kolchak’s headquarters are located at what is today the  Omsk Regional Archives  at Broz Tito St., 3. Nothing shows how much times have changed as the imposing Kolchak statue that was unveiled in 2012 around the corner. The statue guards  Kolchak restaurant , a four-story culinary complex featuring a steak house, an Irish pub, a Central Asian café and an Italian eatery.  For more details on where and how to dig Kolchak's gold, see  Top Ten Mysterious Lost Treasures of Russia

Dostoevsky and the Tsar

At 1.15 million people Omsk dwarfs the region’s second largest city, Tara (population 28,000). The city is split by the River Irtysh into two sections (all places of interest are on the right bank) with downtown emanating from the River Om.

Most foreigners have heard of Omsk via writer Fyodor Dostoevsky who spent four years here as a prisoner (1849-1853). He spent most of his time in Omsk in squalor and chains and with no books besides the Bible, however, it left an indelible mark on his memory and influenced his future literary output. There is a statue of the writer in chains grasping a Bible at the corner of Partizanskaya and Spartakovskaya streets, where Dostoevsky undoubtedly stepped many times. A  museum dedicated to the author's time in Omsk  is located nearby at Dostoevskogo St. 1. The local university is also named for him.

Tarskaya Street is one of the city’s oldest thoroughfares. It features a monument to victims of Stalinist repressions and the Tara gates, originally built in 1792 as one of the four entrances to the Omsk fort. Nearby stands the Assumption Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Siberia. Future Tsar Nicholas II laid the first stone here in 1891 when making his way back to St. Petersburg after his Eastern journey.

In Omsk you are never more than a few steps from the village, made clear when one exits the center to the north, where most houses are wooden and roads unpaved. Stroll along Bulatova and Rabinovicha streets, a well-preserved ensemble of wooden architecture.

Omsk’s cultural heritage

The Pushkin State Library is worth a look with busts of Russian literary figures adorning the front side of the building. At the corner under the big “M” is one of several stations of the never completed Omsk metro. Construction began in 1992, but as of 2014 the project is again dormant due to financing problems.

One of Omsk’s most famous sons is Symbolist painter Mikhail Vrubel (1856-1910). Vrubel ignored contemporary trends and focused on themes from fairy tales, demons and religious subjects and also designed a majolica frieze for the Metropol Hotel in Moscow. Omsk’s Fine Arts Museum is named for him and features a number of  his works .

Over the years a number of tourists have tripped over the monument to Stepanych. This bust of a plumber rising from a sewer was the idea of Omsk’s former mayor after a trip to Slovakia in the 1990s. Stepanych has become one of the symbols of the city.

Omsk is a hockey town, with one of the major teams,  Avangard , in the KHL, Russia’s premiere professional league. Russian champions on several occasions, check out a match at Omsk Arena. But if you can’t catch a game there’s a large kiosk featuring the team’s merchandise at the airport.

Siberian   punk, jazz and the classics

While Omsk may not be on everyone’s radar musically, it does host a  musical theater  built just after the war. The building on 10 Let Oktyabrya Street is in the form of an enormous sloping grand piano.

Perhaps Russia’s most famous punk band,  Grazhdanskaya oborona  (Civil Defence), was formed here in 1982. The band was active until 2008 when lead singer Yegor Letov died of heart failure at age 43. Letov is buried at the Staro-Vostochnoe cemetery. A sprawling graveyard with thousands of graves, fans should stop at the administration for help in locating his grave.

In Russia, Omsk is known among the younger, tech-savvy generation primarily because of the “Omsk bird,” also known as Winged Doom. The origin of what became one of Russia’s most ubiquitous memes comes from a painting by German artist Heiko  Müller. One day in 2009 an Internet user posted this painting with the line, “Welcome to Omsk,” at the top. Additional versions menace viewers stating, “Don't try to leave Omsk,” and “Omsk is closer than you think.” Like many popular memes on the Internet, this one went viral and has become something like an unofficial symbol of the city.

See architectural wonders, tour the litany of museums, and indulge in the aptly nicknamed “city of the world’s desire.”

Beyond its picturesque seaside resort appearance, this popular Turkish respite is the gateway to some of the most perfectly preserved Greco-Roman ruins left in the world.

Known for its hip beach clubs and electric nightlife, this famous Greek Isle has a notably quiet side, too — and it's truly spectacular.

Where the Byzantine Empire meets modern cultural ingenuity — this gorgeous island truly is hot spot for artists and artist-lovers alike.

From the hills of Oia to the Caldera coast, this island is known for its fiery, orange and pick sunsets and postcard-worthy beaches.

With ancient ruins right next to old townhouses turned into hip restaurants, Crete will give you the feeling that time just might stand still.
