Company-Industry Rating Comparison

"I have worked from Norwegian Cruise Lines for the past 2.5 years. Their PMO structure is lacking organization and real change. Typical Corporate environment that doesn't have the true handle on budget, projects or applications that are currently in flight"

"I started my career at NCLH in 2017. I have moved to different teams all within IT various times. One of the best things about NCLH, are your co-workers. I can truly say the people I have worked with here, have been some of the hardest working employees I have seen. There isn’t a lot of turnover within IT, a majority of the employees have been with NCLH for 15+ years. One the items that I struggled with, and I believe many others, is constant Organizational Changes. In 2018, the company started and IT reorganization that has yet to complete. It leaves a lot of people feeling lost, no sense of leadership, no guidance."

"I worked as a consultant at Norwegian Cruise Line. The best things about the experience was that the environment is very modern and collaborative. Lots of video call meetings and carrying laptops around to work in open spaces. They have both group pod workspaces as well as cubical sections. The cafeterias and the buildings are modern and nice. The best part of working with Norwegian cruise line is everyday new challenges opens up and the team is ready to move with new ideas, that means we can apply any techniques to solve the issue."

"I love working at Norwegian, a great company with great opportunities. Norwegian is a leader in cruising. Great benefits and opportunities for career growth."

"I worked for NCL for several years. Thoroughly enjoyed my job. However, I quickly discovered how “clicky” the Entertainment Division was in Tampa. Run by the VP of Entertainment, it was amazing to me how anything got accomplished. I quickly noticed his constant flitting around the office, his desk was always spotless (no contracts, invoices, plans, paperwork of any kind), he would sit in on production meetings and such and rarely participate. But would ALWAYS be on his cell phone. So, after meetings I would hop on FB just to see, and sure enough he spends production meetings posting on FB. He never seemed busy, but often peoples invoices would be paid weeks late due to him neglecting to “approve them”. If you are gay, your his best friend and part of the “click”. If you are straight, he won’t give you much attention. He was NEVER concerned about budgets or if a project was going over. Myself and a few others would often ask others working there, “what exactly does Robert do?”. The answer was always the same, “I’m not really sure”.. I’m sure he is making close to 6 figures and is hardly in the office. He is always on ships visiting to watch shows. I heard stories of how NCL received complaints about his lack of work in the past and when it got back to him, how he brought everyone into the board room to yell at them. Stating, “if you don’t like the way I do things, leave”. As far as many are concerned, Robert is a complete waste of NCL’s money! Then theres the Production Manager, Chris. This is a department that truly needs at least 2 people running it, if not more. Chris is SO over-worked, SO backed up with things, so backed up with approving invoices people aren’t paid in a timely fashion. Personally, I’d eliminate Roberts position and add at least 1, if not 2 more Production Managers."

"Misleading promos and deals. Always changing policy and procedure. Will make you work overtime if enough people don't volunteer. Change your schedule every 3-4 months. Won't work with you if you're a parent to young children, religious or trying to attend school. Never keep employees fully updated, which has us also misinforming the guests and agents. And you're the face of many departments so have to try and do everyone's job for less than adequate pay."

"Good company to work in... I was hired to review the current architecture and perform major Oracle, Mysql, Postgresql database upgrade and to fix architecture issues."

"I have worked for NCL for 5 years. I love working with my customers everyday. My pay avg is 45000 to 55000 a year. I enjoy coming to work everyday. The only negative is that the company does not attempt to build confidence, educate and assist PVP's in becoming better at their job. The coachs are challenged by their manager who does not have a positive attitude but tells everyone else to. They need to encourage and assist and not use a punitive method to score your performance. However, if you do the best job you can do and follow th"

"Office politics are the name of the game at Norwegian. Being good at you job, being friendly and on-time daily don't matter if "they" personally don't like you. Attention Contractors: they let you know EVERYDAY, you are a 'step-child'."

"I've worked at Norwegian Cruise Line. They are a company that drives on innovation. The Senior Vice President of sales listened to my idea and gave me the opportunity to build, develop and implement my idea into the company culture and day to day business."

What do you like about working at Norwegian Cruise Line?

"Innovation is key to the continous growth of a company."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be honest during the interview process. Due diligence in getting to know how the company is doing overall."

What don't you like about working at Norwegian Cruise Line?

"The room for advancement is limited at the management level."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management needs to be open and honest with team members at all times."

"They had problems in the past with dated product but in the last 10 years have turned it around."

"I would recommend working ship side verses land base employment"

"Upper Management is focus on cutting costs so much that it cut into the on board experience for the passengers."

"Do a better job qualify upper management positions before they are hired and quality control they once hired."

"Amazing personal growth. If I can do this, I can do anything."

"I live on the ship so I do not pay room and board which is great for banking money. I have met some of the greatest people from all over the world and at the end of the cruise saying good bye to some of the guests is like saying good bye to family."

"Be honest with your abilities. Be ready to work you ass off."

"Crew mess. 8-10 hours a day, 7 days a week for 5 months is really tough. On international ships they do longer contracts. By the end of the 5th month you are truely burnt out."

"Lead the team as opposed to managing them. Some managers don't communicate clearly what vision they have for the shift."
