Healix Insurance Services Lt,d on behalf of Hamilton Insurance DAC, arranges this Travel Insurance policy for Jade Stanley Ltd. Healix Insurance Ltd is registered in England and Wales under No. 5484190 and authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under No. 437248. Hamilton Insurance DAC is registered in Ireland No. 484148, authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland, and subject to limited regulation by the Financial Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority in connection with their UK branch. Jade Stanley Ltd is registered in England and Wales under No. 03570857 and authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under No. 306205.

The Department of Health modified the Reciprocal Health Agreement between the United Kingdom and The Channel Islands in 2009.

Suppose British Tourists fall ill or are injured in The Channel Islands. In that case, they will not be automatically covered for all medical expenses, and vice versa for Channel Islands residents.

This means that a Resident of The Channel Islands does not have the same benefits as health coverage in the United Kingdom, Europe and the Rest of the World as they do on their home island.

While there still exists a somewhat Reciprocal Health Agreement concerning health care between The Channel Islands and the United Kingdom, travellers should be aware of several exceptions.

A Resident of The Channel Islands qualifies for free health care at home and can also get emergency health treatment when visiting the United Kingdom in case an accident happens or they are taken ill.

This agreement requires visitors to stay in the United Kingdom for at least two nights and only covers visitors for stays of a maximum of three months. People who visit shorter or longer are fully responsible for their healthcare costs.

Additionally, and this is quite important, Repatriation costs are not covered, which means that if you need to be transported back to your home in The Channel Islands, you will have to pay the expenses. So, it is essential to have a Travel Insurance policy covering Repatriation.

The agreement also doesn't cover any medical treatments for non-urgent conditions or treatment that can be scheduled later.

Just as Channels Islands Residents are responsible for arranging additional health coverage when travelling abroad, foreign visitors are, too.

It is strongly recommended that The Channel Islanders planning on travelling abroad contact their respective Social Security Department with any health and Travel Insurance questions.

Because of all these exceptions, any Resident of The Channel Islands who wants to visit the United Kingdom (and all other parts of the world, for that matter) is strongly encouraged to purchase additional Travel Insurance.

Residents of The Channel Islands can live and work in the United Kingdom and do not require a passport to travel around the United Kingdom and Ireland.

British passports are issued to residents of the Channels Islands, people born on the islands, and their parents carried on the islands.

Channel Islanders' British passports are not the same as regular British passports. Channel Islanders with no connection to mainland Britain have an Islander Status and possibly an additional endorsement in their passports, limiting their ability to travel freely.

Guernsey Airport and Jersey Airport are the two main airports on the islands, connecting them with Liverpool, Manchester, Southampton, London, Glasgow, Birmingham, the Isle of Man and France.

Ferry connections are abundant and connect the Channel Islands with Northern France, Portsmouth and Poole.

If you have pre-existing medical conditions and are a Resident of the Channel Islands, we can provide you with a policy.

Jersey A&E – Where Is It?

Finding a pharmacy in jersey – we’re here to help, everything you need to know about travel and holiday insurance requirements.

Travel insurance is strongly recommended for Jersey travel.  Many travellers think it’s not worth it, or they won’t need it, and yes being optimistic is good, but sometimes it pays to stay prepared for the worst situations. Without travel insurance, you’re always open to chance. You might be able to replace stolen or misplaced valuables such as smartphones, or passport. The one thing that may be beyond your financial capabilities is the bill for medical treatment. So it’s best to leave nothing to chance and get an adequate travel policy for your trip to Jersey today.

We’d highly recommend organising holiday insurance prior to heading off on holiday to Jersey island.  Let’s face it, you’ll have peace of mind that you’ve got things covered in case of any emergency.  This way you can make sure you enjoy your time away without taking the chance of travelling without any insurance.  If something unpredictable as a car accident or medical treatment should arise you don’t want to look back and think “If only I’d paid that £15 or whatever it would be to get the family covered!”

Is it necessary to have Health Insurance for Jersey 2019?

While exploring the beautiful island of Jersey, and in the unlikely event that something might happen that may require urgent medical attention its important you’ve organised your health insurance. Even if you have a health insurance policy for travelling to other destinations in 2019, please don’t make the mistake of assuming it works for Jersey.  This is because not every insurance plan covers for every situation. So if you’re planning a holiday to Jersey anytime this year, make sure you have a good health insurance plan that is valid for the destination your visiting.

Unfortunately UK travel insurance does not cover your trip to the Island of Jersey.  Visitors to the Island (including British national) have to pay cash for medical treatments and prescription medicines unless of course you’ve taken an adequate travel insurance policy.  But also remember that travel insurance doesn’t just cover injury, its to protect you against hotel cancellations or travel disruptions.

Some people think that they don’t need travel insurance because nothing ever happens to them, and by cutting out travel insurance is a good way to save a few pounds.  And we all want to save money on flights and hotels, but don’t fool yourself into thinking you can not get your travel insurance because you just might regret it!  Regardless of where you’re heading, it’s always a good idea to have travel insurance. Besides health, there are many other things to worry about including car accidents, flight cancellations, misplaced or stolen luggage.  So don’t delay, buy your travel insurance today!

Like any destination, you don’t need travel insurance to go anywhere – however if you haven’t purchased suitable cover prior to your trip then you could be leaving yourself at risk of being left with a big bill.  When travelling to Jersey, you’ll need to pick a policy that covers medical expense, as they are not part of the UK and there is no NHS in Jersey.

You can travel anywhere in the world including Jersey without travel insurance. But it’s a risky thing to do.  It’s not expensive to get yourself cover, and there are lots of places to compare policies to ensure you’ve got the best price and the most comprehensive cover for your trip.  Travel insurance with medical cover is essential when visiting Jersey, as they don’t have the same set up as the rest of the United Kingdom.

The island of Jersey is not a part of the U, so if you’ve visiting Jersey make sure you get an adequate travel insurance policy.  Plus remember travel insurance doesn’t just cover you for medical emergencies, its there to protect you should be involved in a car accident, your hotel cancels your stay, your airline cancels your flights – all of which can be quite expensive if you don’t have a adequate policy to protect you.

The Department of Health have confirmed that those visiting Jersey and the other Channel Islands are not covered by the European Health Insurance Card, otherwise known as EHIC.  This card covers those that live anywhere in the EU members states to either cut priced or free health care when they are travelling to other EU countries.  Therefore it recommends when you travel to Jersey you take out insurance to remain covered.

EHIC entitles UK residents to medical treatment at a reduced cost. Since EHIC is not valid in Jersey, you won’t be able to avoid excess medical bills with the use of this card.  The European Health Insurance Card covers non-private medical assistance such as the cost of maternity care, renal dialysis or managing pre-existing medical conditions but the Department of Health have said this doesn’t apply to Jersey.

Fortunately, you can buy a comprehensive holiday and health insurance online from the comfort of your home. You will find a wide range of products that best suits your needs and budget.

If you enjoy taking lots of trips away each year, then annual-multi trip insurance might just save you some money.  Annual deals tend to work out cheaper if you go away more than 3 times and your over 26 years of age or for those under 26 if you go away more than twice you should see savings.  This type of insurance  covers you for a full year, and in that time you can take multiple holidays and you’ll be covered for each one.  For the best deals on annual travel insurance jersey, visit   Flexicover Travel Insurance  or  Moneysupermarket

Are you searching the internet for affordable travel insurance to Jersey? We’ve done the same and having checked out every comparison website over the last five years, whilst entering our details twenty times we’ve come to the conclusion that   Moneysupermarket  is by far the best any always returns the cheapest price.

If you’re planning a one-off holiday or business trip to Jersey, then you’re better off with single trip travel insurance which will cover you for the duration of your stay. For the best single trip travel insurance to jersey, these leading insurance providers have got you covered –  Flexicover Travel Insurance  and  Moneysupermarket  are by far our favourites.

The UK has reciprocal health agreements with the island of Jersey, which gives visitors access to free or affordable medical treatment.  Keep in mind that the cost does not cover repatriation. However, you will receive an equal amount of treatment as if you were a local in Jersey.  To be eligible, you will have to provide essential documents that show proof of residence. Note that you will have to pay for other health care services such as dental treatment and prescribed medicines.

Despite Jersey being part of British Isles, because it is not part of the their health service is not part of the NHS.

For holidaymakers some medical care is covered by a Reciprocal Health Agreement (RHA) that Jersey has with the UK, some treatment you may require is not, and its important to highlight that any pre-existing conditions are not treatable without payment.

The Emergency Department in Jersey will treat visitors for emergency treatment only. If you have a non-urgent medical issue when your on holiday then its best to contact a local doctor which unfortunately is chargeable.

For treatments your receive at the Jersey hospital in an Emergency is free, but any treatment or care that you require after may not be covered.  Therefore if you don’t have travel insurance, you’ll need to  pay for treatment.  For example if you need repatriation, this can cost in the region of £5,000 which is why we recommend taking out a travel insurance to cover this.

Because Jersey is not in the UK, they are not part of the NHS and have their own healthcare system.  It does provide quality services to people wherever and whenever they need them. The well-financed healthcare system boasts qualified and experienced workforce and features state of the art facilities and amenities to deliver world-class medical treatment should you require them when your holidaying in the island.

Unless of course, you have travel insurance, you will have to pay for most healthcare cost. So it’s wise to get health travel insurance to cover the cost of medical treatments in Jersey. For UK visitors, while some health care is covered by RHA, you will have to foot the bills of some treatment.  Treatment at the Emergency Department of the hospital is usually free of charge. Some of the healthcare services you have to pay for include visits to any local GP dentist or pharmacist, and non-urgent medical issues at the hospital, among others.  For peace of mind, it is advisable to get a comprehensive travel insurance plan from a reputable insurance company.

There are plenty of pharmacies across the island, so don’t worry if you run out of medication whilst your on holiday.   However, not many of them are open on a Sunday or 24 hours a day.  We’d recommend giving them a call to check they can help with your medical condition.  Here is a list of pharmacy and their address.  For more pharmacies check out  www.lloydspharmacy.com

Holidays & Accommodation

Feefo logo

Travel Insurance

It is always advisable to book insurance as soon as you book your holiday and make a payment. From this point onwards, your money is at risk, as deposits are not refundable and cancellation charges increase as your holiday departure date approaches. Once you travel, then holiday insurance also provides you with cover for such essential items as medical treatment, travel delays, personal possessions and may allow you to claim reimbursement if you have to return home early. For your own peace of mind, please ensure that you are insured.

During these uncertain times, the actual cover available is very important, so when you choose your insurance policy, you may wish to check that cover for cancellation in the event of your contracting Covid-19, or having to self-isolate because members of your household have symptoms, is included. Some policies exclude this, although most will provide cover if you are taken ill whilst on holiday. There are policies available, which provide more comprehensive cancellation cover for Covid-19 and you may wish to seek them out.

"I just wanted to personally thank Connor O'Brien for all his help and support in sorting out my car renewal. He certainly did a fantastic job to get this done. I also appreciate Island Insurance and Connor for taking into consideration that I have been a client with you for over 25 years and it is nice to see that this is taken into account through this renewal process. Thank you so much and well done."

"I had a pretty spectacular breakdown on motorway in South Wales, I had AA cover but it was Islands Insurance who got my family and I back to Jersey, followed by my car a week later. My only regret was not taking the chaps name who handled my call, he was outstanding. I know we all have a tenancy to slate the bigger companies but Islands really came up trumps for me and my family."

"Tony Pessego at Islands Insurance today, absolutely outstanding customer service under what must be for them very trying and testing circumstances."

"Excellent Business Islands Insurance! Due to my own oversight, I paid my renewal for my car insurance online today and with the weekend approaching I didn't think my WID would get here in time, however Islands Insurance have been absolutely fabulous! Special thanks to Alastair Millen for sorting the paperwork and George for hand delivering my WID so I got it before the weekend! And all in the space of 20 minutes. Couldn't have asked for better service! First class !! Many thanks"

Islands Insurance - great service, especially from John Le Friec, car written off, process very easy and within 24 hours of confirmation, payment in my account. Thank you... and I have a shiny new (to me) lovely wee red car 🚗 ... long may it stay that way

Mercy says:

"Nice easy online quote and purchasing of insurance of a vehicle to include anyone over the age of 25 ears, and breakdown cover in Europe/Uk. It was done very quick and I already have the documents online. The insurance amount from this company was over £200 less than the current company I have been with for 9 years (no claims). The current company would also not provide cover for anyone over 25 as an addition and only named drivers. It also did not provide breakdown cover in Europe/UK."

Channel Islands extend ID card scheme for French day-trippers until 2025

Jersey and Guernsey 's governments have extended a scheme allowing French day trippers to visit the Channel Islands using only their identity cards until September 2025. The scheme was due to end in September 2024 with visitors from France being able to use their identity cards as an alternative to passports to boost the islands' tourism and hospitality sectors. It was introduced in April 2023 as a pilot scheme with both Bailiwicks seeing an increase in visitor numbers from France since then. This latest decision was made following discussions with the UK government. The UK government, as well as the States of Guernsey and States of Jersey, will introduce an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) programme which is currently planned for the end of 2025.

The ETA scheme will mean visitors from outside the Common Travel Area (CTA) - which includes the UK, Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands - who do not have a visa, will need to provide passport details to visit the Jersey and Guernsey. Deputy Mary Le Hegarat, Jersey's Minister for Justice and Home Affairs, said: "I’m pleased to be able to extend the scheme for another year and so benefit the local tourist industry. "Whilst the introduction of the ETA scheme makes further extension potentially problematic it will increase the security of the CTA and consequently our island’s borders.” Deputy Rob Prow, President of the Committee for Home Affairs, said: "This scheme was initially introduced just for the summer of 2023, but the benefits to local businesses in allowing French travellers into the Bailiwick for day trips were clear, and so we are pleased to have been able to continue it since. "France is a country where the number of people who hold a passport is relatively low, and so ensuring they can still travel following the UK’s withdrawal from the EU has been very valuable. "It is unlikely the scheme will continue when ETAs are introduced, however that scheme will increase the security of the Common Travel Area, and therefore the Bailiwick.”
