Places to visit in Thekkady and things to do in Thekkady

Last Updated on July 1, 2024 by admin

If you are wondering which hill stations near Kochi to visit and are confused between Thekkady and Munnar while planning a trip to Kerala you will be eternally confused. Check out this guide on Places to visit in Thekkady, Kerala and add it to your Kerala Itinerary .

Thekkady, Kerala is a popular tourist destination in Kerala and isn’t missed by anyone, especially on the Central Kerala tour. Among the places to visit in Thekkady, it offers a lot such as wildlife, nature, adventure, culture, food and Ayurveda treatments.

Thekkady, a major tourist attraction in Kerala is most popular for Periyar National park and the next best thing offered here is Kerala Ayurvedic Massages. Tourists visit Thekkady from all across the world to get treatment for their ailing bodies – with a great view of evergreen forests.

On my second trip to Periyar, I visited all the Thekkady attractions which I missed out on on the first visit, thanks to Kerala Travel Mart 2022 and Pre-mart tour . Here’s a blog on Tourist places in Thekkady.

Periyar river, Thekkady

PLACES TO VISIT IN THEKKADY

Periyar tiger reserve.

One of the best places to see in Thekkady is the Periyar Tiger Reserve. Periyar National Park, Kerala has played a significant role in the conservation of tigers since the year 1978. And not only for tigers but many other endemic species of Western Ghats which is one of the biodiversity hotspots as well as listed under UNESCO World Heritage centre .

Animals in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary

Unique species that are only found here include Malabar Flying Squirrel, Wild Pigs, Sambar deer, Red Mongoose, Indian Gaur, Lion-tailed Macaque, Nilgiri langur and Nilgiri marten. Approximately 40 tigers reside here in Periyar National Park .

Periyar National Park Boat Ride on Periyar Lake

Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary is known for the varied flora and fauna which is why a typical jeep safari which is popular in all National Parks of India is not permitted here. Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Thekkady can be visited on the boat which gives a chance to see all the animals in their natural habitat.

Kerala Forest Department (KFD) and Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) run 90-minute boat cruises on the Periyar lake. The lake is surrounded by the forest and has tree stumps standing out making it a unique and stunning landscape.

Best of Thekkady tourist places: Periyar National Park Ticket Booking

It is better to book tickets online to save time in queue. Even if you book online you are required to go to the ticket counter to get the physical ticket. KTDC and Periyar Forest Reserve operate buses from the parking bay until the Periyar lake from where the boats leave.

Periyar Boating Ticket charges: INR 255 for adults. INR 105 for kids aged 5 to 12 years (in KTDC boats)

Boat Timings: 7:30 am, 9:30 am, 11:15 am, 1:45 pm, and 3:30 pm

I love having a vacation close to nature which is why I always prefer Vacation in Indian Jungles .

Nature Walk in Thekkady

A nature walk is one of the best things to do in Thekkady. Nature Walks are offered by most resorts as their properties are intermingled with nature. These properties generally have a local guide and expert with whom you can go on a nature walk.

Nature walks help in connecting with the local flora and fauna and learning about their behaviours. Listening to the chirping of birds while knowing when and where it breeds and resides is something surreal.

Attend a Cultural Program – Kalaripayattu or Kathakali

Kalaripayattu is one of the oldest martial art forms in the world that originated in Kerala in the 3rd century. Considered among the oldest and most scientific martial arts in the world, the word ‘Kalari’ literally means ‘battlefield’ and ‘payattu’ means ‘training of martial arts. Kalaripayattu uses weapons such as swords and daggers, sticks, spears, maces, axes arrows, discuses, catapults, boomerangs and others.

There are cultural centres in Thekkady that are putting their efforts into preserving this ancient art form and showcasing it to the tourists.

Kadathanadan Kalari, Mudra Cultural Centre and Navarasa center are one of the best places to see Kalaripattu in Thekkady. They run one hour of evening show daily between 6 pm – 7 pm. Some hotels also run in-house shows.

Kalaripayattu Thekkady Ticket Price: INR 250 per person

Kathakali is a form of classical Indian dance. It is unique as it is distinguished by the elaborately colourful make-up, costumes and faces masks that the traditionally male actor-dancers wear. The dance form is associated with storytelling through dance.

Artists elaborate wear make-up and dress up which takes a lot of time. In many shows, this is done on stage to show the process to visitors.

Kathakali shows also take place in the evening that can be attended. The Navarasa Kathakali show is one of the most popular ones.

Kathakali Thekkady Ticket Price: INR 250 per person.

Spice Plantations, Thekkady

Thanks to the perfect weather of Thekkady, many traditional spices used in Indian cooking grow here abundantly. Most of the Kerala spices that are exported all over the country and the world grow in this region. Black pepper, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon and many other herbal plants grow here.

While shopping for these spices in Kerala is an absolute must, it is even more interesting to see their trees, and fruits and learn about their life cycle for a local working in these spice plantations. There are many plantation farms that conduct tours for tourists. A Spice Plantation farm is one of the best places to visit in Thekkady with family.

We visited the Green Valley Spices Farm which has a huge spice plantation and promotes natural and organic farming. A lady guide took us through the entire spice plantation showing herbs used in Ayurvedic medicines to spices. We even saw the exotic vanilla creeper whose pod is expensive in the Indian market.

One of the most interesting plants to see was the cardamom fruit that evolves from the flower that grows at the base of the plant and how they pluck the alternate fruits from a single stem.

There is a treehouse inside the farm, which is made around a jackfruit tree and gives a 360-degree view of the plantation and a vantage point to photograph birds. I clicked more birds in this spice farm than in a national park!

Tickets: INR 100 per adult.

Ayurvedic Massage in Thekkady

If you are looking for Ayurveda Retreat in Kerala then Thekkady is the right place for it. Thekkady is the hub for getting Ayurvedic Treatments in Kerala. Whether it is a chronic ailment or you want a refreshing body massage, everything is possible here.

My visit to Thekkady was immediately after Trekking in Munnar so I chose to get a full body massage done in Ranger Wood Nature Castle. The ayurvedic retreat offers month-long ayurvedic treatment solutions to people suffering from chronic ailments. It is like a resort where people can stay for long durations and get their treatments done with consultation from an in-house doctor.

The Ayurvedic massage treatments range from INR 1000 up to INR 3500 for one sitting that lasts for 90 minutes. Prior booking is ideal so as to avoid waiting for a long time.

Tea Plantations and Tea Factory in Thekkady

While Munnar tea plantations are popular, Thekkady also has its fair share of tea plantations and tea factories. The Periyar river that flows through the Periyar region nourishes these plantations.  Tea plantation visit in Thekkady may not feature in the top places to visit in Thekkady but I suggest you give it a chance. Vandiperiyar town is an important trading hub that hosts a number of tea processing plants and factories.

Connemara tea plantation Thekkady is the perfect place to visit to understand tea manufacturing and processing. A one hour guided tour takes visitors around the factory premises that is nestled between tea plantation. One can see tea harvesters going about their day plucking tea leaves.

At the end of the tour, visitors can taste various types of tea and even purchase the same from the Connemara Tea Factory Outlet, Thekkady.

Other tea factories that offer tours are: Pattumalay tea factory is one of the few tea factories still using the orthodox manufacturing process.

Gavi forest, thekkady.

It is a small village which is a 1-hour drive from Thekkady. It is famous for its abundant flora and fauna. It is being promoted as an ecotourism spot by the Kerala Forest Dept with options of camping inside the forest. Jeep safaris are the best way to explore Gavi Forest.

Chellarkovil Waterfalls

Located 15 kilometres from Thekkady, the Chellarkovil waterfalls are stunning waterfalls. Trekking to these waterfalls is also possible and Kerala Forest Department is promoting it as a one-day picnic spot. Spice garden tour, Trekking, and Waterfalls watch are some of the ways to spend time near Chellarkovil Waterfalls.

Mangala Devi Temple

Mangala Devi Temple in Thekkady is a popular place to visit due to its rich 1000-year-old history. It is located at a distance of 15 kilometres from Thekkady. Interwoven with local traditions, the temple has a deep connection to Periyar. Because of the many legends attached to it, it is a pilgrimage site for the locals and tourists who visit Thekkady.

SHOPPING IN THEKKADY

Kerala is a shopping paradise. So why not indulge in retail therapy in Thekkady as well?

Spice shopping in Thekkady

If you want to buy one thing in Thekkady, it has to be spices. Thekkady is famous for spice plantations and one cannot and should not resist buying fresh, aromatic spices from Thekkady.

All the spice plantations have a spice outlet where one can buy the spices. That is the best way to support the plantation and it is affordable in your pocket. You know where the spices are coming from. They are unadulterated, big in size, sold without oil removal and fresh from the farm where you just visited.

While wholesale buying is possible, they also sell small packets which can be utilised as souvenirs. Must buy spices from Thekkady are cloves, black pepper, cinnamon, green cardamom, nutmeg, bay leaves and betel nut.

Bargaining is possible if you are buying in bulk and are a large group. However, prices are subject to season, yield and market. I got cardamom for INR 260/100 gm, cinnamon for INR 100/100gm and cloves for INR 150/100gm.

Kerala Banana Chips

An evening walk in Thekkady led me to a street with stalls selling Kerala Banana Chips. The speciality of these chips is that they are fried in Coconut oil which offers a very unique taste. Kerala Banana Chips are a must-buy in Kerala. Although these chips are available in all cities and towns of Kerala, I bought them here.

PRACTICAL TIPS FOR PLACES TO VISIT IN THEKKADY

Best time to visit thekkady.

Thekkady is pleasant all around the year but it is best to visit during winters (November to February). It is also the ideal time for sighting migratory birds. I visited in May and it was hot and humid which can make moving around and walking a small distance uncomfortable. Monsoons are not a good time as the approach roads are bound to landslides.

How to reach Thekkady

Thekkady does not have an airport of its own. Madurai and Kochi Airports are the nearest to Thekkady. Madurai airport is located at a distance of 136 kilometres from Thekkady and Cochin International Airport is 190 kilometres away. The best way to get to Thekkady from Cochin or Madurai is by hiring a cab. KSRTC buses also ply between both the places.

The nearest railway station to Thekkady is in Kottayam, located 114 kilometres away. The railway station in Kottayam is well-connected to major cities across India. Visitors can hire a cab from Kottayam to get to Thekkady, or even board a government or private run bus.

The most affordable way to reach Thekkady from Cochin, Trivandrum and Kottayam are the government or private run buses. Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses are available at regular intervals.

Kerala Tour Guide/Agency

Although my two trips to Kerala were work trips, the other two were leisure trips. While there are many Kerala tour agencies who offer Kerala Trips I highly recommend The Wanderers Travel which arranged everything from my air tickets, accommodation and the entire Road-trip in Kerala .

I have exclusively written about my experiences with individuals I met during the many Kerala trips in Human by Nature . I have been touched by the hospitality and the warmth of the people of Kerala. And the experience repeated itself.

I am extremely thankful to my tour guide – C Satish who made the entire trip in Kerala extremely effortless and seamless. His knowledge of his home state is commendable (architecture, heritage culture, flora, food and the list goes on). I highly recommend him for arranging accommodation, planning a Kerala itinerary or even for food recommendations. He is based in Kochi and is a great resource for Fort Kochi Heritage Tour as well.

The Perfect Thekkady Itinerary: Home to the Periyar National Park

Last Updated on May 9, 2024

If you are looking for a perfect getaway with your family, with kids or elderly parents, then Thekkady is the place to be. Home to the Periyar National Park , Thekkady is packed with exciting activities that are best enjoyed in group, bountiful nature and easily accessible cultural experiences. And this Thekkady itinerary is all you need to read to plan your trip to the jungle paradise of Kerala.

Close your eyes for a minute and think of a sparkling lake with the Western Ghats in its backdrop, elephants thronging to the banks to drink water, antelopes grazing around, exotic avian sitting on the dry branches peeking from the waters. Think of a tiger spotting safari at night, nature-walk in the morning and bamboo rafting at noon. There, you just saw Thekkady in your mind’s eye.

Usually, one night and two days is enough to explore the best of Thekkady, although, a longer stay is always better. Let's dive into this 2-day itinerary for Thekkady.

thekkady tourist places in kerala

Thekkady Itinerary at a glance

If you checked the perfect Kerala itinerary I designed , I recommend a one-night stay at Thekkady after the trip to Munnar or Alleppey .

However, Thekkady is also a great destination for a road trip from Bangalore over a long weekend (which is how I explored Thekkady). In that case, you might not be able to reach Thekkady before afternoon, so a two-night, three-day stay is recommended.

Here is a sneak-peek to the Thekkady itinerary.

Day 1 in Thekkady:

  • Try to reach by 11 am and head straight to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary.
  • Enjoy a boat ride on Periyar Lake. Spot wildlife like elephants and deer.
  • Lunch at Bamboo Café – try their local dishes.
  • Visit the Abraham Spice Plantation. Learn about local spices like cardamom and pepper.
  • Watch an exhilarating cultural performance at Kumily town
  • Alternatively, watch tribal dance in Periyar National Park (6pm -7pm)
  • Souvenir shopping at Kumily market
  • Optional – Jungle Scout at night

Day 2 in Thekkady:

  • Head to the Periyar National Park for trekking and bamboo rafting adventure in the early morning
  • After lunch book a jeep safari to the tea plantations and Ottakathalamedu
  • Explore the beautiful temples and churches of Thekkady

A Brief Background of Thekkady

Thekkady, located in Idukki district in Kerala, is a place where nature's beauty unfolds in its purest form. This enchanting town, located near Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, is famous for the Periyar National Park, a biodiversity hotspot and a tiger reserve.

Thekkady's allure lies in its rich wildlife, spice-scented plantations, and lofty mountains surrounding it, making it a coveted destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Besides usual activities like boating, trekking and jeep safari, you can indulge in the unique memorable experiences like night safari with rehabilitated poachers turned guides, or take a session on an ancient martial art form called Kalaripayattu.

Did you know that the famous Sabarimala Temple (yes that one that broke into national news) is located at a hill-top in Periyar forest? In fact, the trek to Sabarimala on foot begins from a temple here (picture below). It is one of the biggest Hindu pilgrimage and has a great deal restriction on all those who want to visit it.

Day 1: Arrival at the Periyar National Park

Periyar tiger reserve.

The first thing you need to do as soon as you reach Thekkady is to head to the Periyar National Park, also called the Periyar Tiger Reserve . Most of your adventure activities in Thekkady will be centered around this wildlife zone, so go to the reception and get your brochure.

The forest department will give you the timing of various activities that they organize for tourists. These include jeep safari to the tea and spice plantations as well as a notable temple, nature-walks, lake cruise and even night safari deep inside the jungle.

Periyar lake cruise

View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Sinjana Ghosh (@backpacknxplore) on Apr 11, 2019 at 10:34pm PDT

This is the most touristy thing to do here, but it’s worth it. You may have to queue up for your turn in the weekends but throughout your waiting time you will be accompanied by monkeys.

Not just monkeys, you will find several exotic varieties of primates like lion-tailed macaque, bonnet macaque, and Nilgiri Langur.

The Periyar Lake Cruise is not just a tourist attraction; it's an immersive experience into the heart of Thekkady's wilderness. It's a peaceful yet exciting adventure that allows you to connect with nature and witness the majestic wildlife in its natural habitat.

Tips for a Better Experience:

thekkady tourist places in kerala

  • Arrive early as the ticket queues can be crowded.
  • Wear comfortable clothing and carry a hat or cap for sun protection.
  • Keep hydrated, but be mindful of the limited facilities on the boat.
  • Maintain silence to not disturb the wildlife and to enhance your chances of spotting more animals

Spice Garden Tour

Just like Wayanad , Thekkady is also known for its aromatic spices. So a trip to Thekkady is incomplete without a spice plantation tour.

Guides, often owner of small spice gardens lead you through the plantations, explaining the farming techniques, the harvest cycles, and the uses of each spice. It's a hands-on learning experience where you can touch, smell, and even taste the spices in their natural environment.

Booking your spice plantation tour is easy. You can arrange it through your hotel, a local travel agency, or even book online before you arrive in Thekkady. These half-day tours fit perfectly into any travel plan, offering a quick yet enriching glimpse into the world of spices.

Among the renowned spice gardens, Abraham’s Spice Garden and Green Park Ayurvedic & Spice Plantation stand out. Each offers a unique experience – Abraham’s is a dive into history and tradition, while Green Park showcases modern, organic farming techniques.

Shopping and cultural evenings at Kumily

If you visit Thekkady, Kumily is the place you are likely to stay. You can stay in a jungle resort in the Periyar reserve too, and that will be awesome. But Kumily is where most of the hotels are. This is also where you can find the markets.

The best thing to buy here are the spices which are locally produced and procured. Besides that you can also buy Kerala cotton sarees. The ones you find here are much cheaper than places outside Kerala and have a superior quality.

thekkady tourist places in kerala

But before that you can attend a cultural evening of dance and music at Kadathanadan Kalari Centre. There are two highlights of this cultural evening – Kathakali and Kalaripayattu.

Kathakali, is one of the 8 classical dance forms in India. It is known for its elaborate costumes and expressive storytelling, is a visual treat. The performances are usually held in the evening, offering a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. The dancers, with their intricate makeup and colorful attire, bring ancient stories and myths to life. The experience is not just about the dance; it's about understanding a story told through gestures and expressions, accompanied by rhythmic music.

After Kathakali, you can witness the ancient martial art form of Kalaripayattu. This is not just a display of physical prowess; it's an art that blends spirituality, discipline, and combat techniques. The performances, often held in specially designed arenas, showcase the agility and skills of the martial artists. With swift movements, jumps, and weapon-based techniques, Kalaripayattu is an exhilarating experience for the audience.

Timings for Kathakali performance is usually 5pm – 6pm, and for Kalaripayattu it is 6pm to 7pm. You can check other time slots here .

Night Safari

Few decades back poachers came to the forests regularly to hunt wild animals for money. But not anymore. In fact, most of them have got rehabilitated.

The administration has employed them as guides. They can sense the beasts, know how to follow the silence and the sound , and how to find the elusive carnivores of Periyar forests.

Day 2 in Thekkady : Explore the best before departure

Wake up early and check out after an early breakfast today. We have so much to do before we leave. As I said before, if you are driving from Bangalore, you need one more day to cover everything in my itinerary.

Bamboo Rafting in Periyar National Park

Bamboo rafting in Periyar National Park is an exhilarating experience that combines adventure with the serene beauty of nature.

The program has two slots, one starts at 7:30 and the other at 9:30. Both get filled superfast, so plan and prebook online .

Your adventure begins early in the morning, setting the stage for an unforgettable day. The program starts with a trek through the dense forests of the park, an opportunity to immerse yourself in the lush greenery and vibrant wildlife of Kerala.

As you walk, keep your eyes peeled for the diverse flora and fauna that call this place home. The trek is not just a walk; it's an educational journey where you learn about the ecosystem and the efforts to preserve it.

Following the trek, the bamboo rafting experience awaits. These rafts, made entirely of bamboo, offer a unique and eco-friendly way to explore the park. Gliding over the gentle waters, you'll feel a sense of tranquility as you take in the panoramic views of the forest.

The entire program, including the trek and rafting, spans about 3 to 4 hours.

Tariff: Rs. 2200 per person. Yes, it is expensive, and the prices are same for children as well as foreign tourists.

We had to skip this tour because we couldnt get the tickets. But we also had a toddler and it's not a suitable activity for little children. So we skipped that for a plantation jeep safari.

Jeep Safari

thekkady tourist places in kerala

After lunch, embar on a jeep safari to the tea plantation at higher altitudes. It will also include a trip to Ottakathalamedu. This is a tall tower at the hill-top from where Kerala Police observes the forests for illegal activities. You can see the famed Mangaladevi temple from here.

A leisurely walk in Kumily

After this fulfilling yet exhausting day, you can have some tea and snacks at one of the cafes and stroll through the town while on your way back to the hotel. In what looks like an ordinary small town of India, you'll find the most striking churches and cafes. These churches alongside the most revered Hindu temples showcase the harmonious co-existence of all faiths in the region for centuries.

thekkady tourist places in kerala

One of the must-visit churches in Kumily is the St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. Known for its beautiful architecture, this church stands as a symbol of the town's strong Christian faith. The church's facade is a blend of traditional Kerala style and colonial influences, making it a visual delight. Inside, the church is equally impressive with its intricate designs and peaceful ambiance.

Another notable church in Kumily is the Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, an epitome of Gothic architecture. It's a small yet one of the most beautiful churches I have seen. The stained glass windows and the meticulously carved altars add to its grandeur, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in architecture and history.

Have another day? Here are more things to do in Thekkady

Trek to spring valley mountain.

Known locally as Kurisumala , Spring Valley Mountain is a hillock which overlooks the Periyar National Park. It is an amazing vantage point which offers one with enchanting panoramic views.

Visit the Mangala Devi Temple

This temple is more than a thousand years old. Seeped in history and folklore, this shrine is a must-visit place. It’s in a ruined state now, but the ruins and the hilly surrounding is what lends an unique charm to this place.

If you stay here for longer than a couple of days (which you definitely should), here are some day trips I recommend for you.

  • An excursion to Ramakkalmedu
  • A trip to Chinnakanal (near Munnar in Kerala)
  • Day trip to Gavi – an eco-toursm spot. Mangala Devi Temple is actually located close to Gavi
  • Trip to Vagamon
  • Trip to Kodaikanal and stay over for a night or two there

I love to see the different plants, and trees and plucking the fruits from the trees. Be it cherry plucking in Kashmir or Coffee Plantations in Coorg, it is my favorite thing to do during my travels. It is always interesting to see how they are grown, knowing about their life cycle and how final products are made for our kitchen!

We can also learn so much from the locals working in the plantations. The Spice Plantation is one of the best places to visit in Thekkady with family and kids, they can learn so much by seeing actual plants!

I stayed at Carmelia Haven Thekkady and the resort itself was set amidst tea and spice plantations. The resort itself was spread across 55 acres with different spices plantations. We took the early morning walk with the local guide of the resort through the plantation and saw pepper vines, elephant grass, clove, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg trees along with banana, and further on branches bearing oranges, Guavava, jackfruit, etc to name a few. The entire plantation was full of spices and herbs that are used in Ayurvedic medicines.

But the star attraction of the Spice Plantation visit was 30 acres of Cardamom plantation . Thekkady is known for its Cardamom Plantations. We had the opportunity to view at close quarters the planting and plucking of the crop.

Also, the cardamom processing factory located next to the planter’s bungalow is a fascinating experience. Here you can witness how cardamom is cleaned, processed, and packed. One can also sample some of the finest quality cardamom pods and you can pack them to take home.

  • Local Cuisine : Kerala is known for its delicious cuisine, including dishes like appam with stew, Kerala parotta with beef curry, and fish molee. However, for families with children, you can easily find less spicy options or request mild versions of local dishes.
  • Cultural Etiquette : Respect local customs, especially when visiting temples or religious sites. It’s customary to remove your shoes before entering temples, and wearing modest clothing is appreciated.
  • Booking in Advance : Kerala is a popular destination, especially during peak seasons. It’s recommended to book your accommodation, houseboat, and any specific activities well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Kochi Emerges as Kerala's Top Tourist Destination

Kochi has become the leading destination for both international and domestic tourists in Kerala. The Tourism Department's 2023 report revealed that Kochi was the most-visited location in the state, attracting 1,82,756 international tourists. It surpassed other popular spots like Kovalam, which drew 65,333 foreign visitors, and Thiruvananthapuram, which hosted 57,379 international tourists. Kochi also led in domestic tourism, with 30,96,875 Indian visitors in 2023. Thiruvananthapuram followed with 20,41,779 domestic tourists. Other key destinations included Guruvayur, Munnar and Kozhikode City. A notable shift in international tourism patterns was observed post-COVID-19, with the United States emerging as the top source of foreign tourists to Kerala. In 2022, 39,935 tourists arrived from the U.S., and this number more than doubled to 82,206 in 2023. The UK, traditionally the largest source of international tourists to Kerala, continued to be significant, with 79,894 visitors in 2023. Kochi's growing popularity is attributed to its rich cultural heritage, vibrant urban life and strategic location, serving as a gateway to other attractions in Kerala. The increase in American tourists highlights Kerala’s expanding reach in the global tourism market, reinforcing the state's importance in international tourism strategies. As Kerala recovers from the impact of the pandemic, the strong performance of its tourism sector in 2023 suggests a promising future, with Kochi at the forefront of this resurgence.
