Safari for iPhone and iPad will automatically open many web links in apps. For example, if you tap a LinkedIn, Reddit, or YouTube link on a web page, you'll be taken to the associated app. Here's how to stay in Safari.

Here's why Safari does this: App developers can choose to register their apps with URLs. For example, if you install the LinkedIn app, it will register itself with linkedin.com addresses. Whenever you tap a linkedin.com link in Safari with LinkedIn installed, Safari will take you to the LinkedIn app. Apple doesn't offer a way to disable this for individual apps.

If you really don't like using a service's app and prefer its website, you can uninstall the app from your iPhone or iPad. Safari won't open the app if it's not installed.

To avoid opening an app when opening an individual link, you can long-press it in Safari. A preview of the web page will appear. Tap "Open" to open the link in Safari in the current tab or "Open in New Tab" to open the link in Safari in a background tab.

This will bypass opening the link in the associated app, but you'll have to use the context menu each time. If you find yourself doing this all the time, uninstalling the service's app may save you some time.

In Private Browsing mode, Safari's behavior changes to protect your privacy. Safari will never open a private browsing link in its associated app before asking you first. This helps protect your privacy---after all, you may be signed into the app and it may reveal personal information.

When in Private Browsing mode , you'll receive an "Open in [App]?" prompt after tapping a link if that link would normally open in an app. Tap "Cancel" and Safari will open the link in a normal Private Browsing tab.

However, there is still that extra step after enabling Private Browsing mode---you have to tap "Cancel" rather than just instantly opening the link.

Guided Access mode is a feature on your iPhone or iPad that lets you "lock" your iPhone to a specific app. For example, you might enable this if you want a child to use a specific app on your device (like a game or video player) without accessing anything else (like your email or online banking.)

This feature can stop Safari from opening apps, too: With Guided Access enabled, you can't leave Safari until you disable Guided Access mode. Safari won't even try to open links in other apps.

To set up Guided Access mode, head to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access. (You can use the search box to search for the Guided Access page in settings, too.) Activate "Guided Access" here.

Next, switch to Safari and triple-click the side button, as explained on the Guided Access settings screen. Tap "Start" to enable Guided Access mode. You'll be prompted to enter a PIN the first time you do this. You'll need this PIN to leave Guided Access mode.

You can now browse and Safari won't offer to open any apps. To leave Safari, you'll have to exit Guided Access mode by triple-clicking the side button once again and entering your PIN. You can tap "Passcode Settings" on the Settings screen where you enabled Guided Access to enable other authentication methods like Touch ID and Face ID.

None of these methods are perfect. You'll either have to uninstall the associated app or do some extra tapping around to avoid opening its links in Safari.

Ideally, Apple would offer a Settings screen that lets you control which apps can take over links just as you can control other app features like location access and notification permissions.

This new layout is better IMO, but there are a few other problems that kinda bug me

Unpopular opinion, but this new layout is better. I don’t even remember the old layout since I’m not even a long-time iOS user (this is my first iPhone). I looked up the old layout or the “cascade” layout and it looks more painful to me than the new one. By the looks of it, it’s definitely easier to miss a tab you’re looking for in the older version, and then you will have to spend like 10 more minutes scrolling to find the tab you’re looking for. Sure, it may be “faster”, but it’s definitely harder to find the certain tab you’re looking for if most of the tabs are only viewable by a little area at the top. This app is mostly fine except for a few problems I get from time to time. Today I’m having a problem where I was trying to look at some Google images and then I tried to look at more but it was just stuck on loading. It wouldn’t even finish loading. This happened only on like 2 searches thankfully though. I’d probably give it a 95% since it has some minor lags and problems.

Your Underrated Prince, Safari

In my humble opinion, Safari is the underrated king among multiple web browsers on the market. I was a PC devotee from ‘95 to ‘16, since then, it’s been all Tim Cook 🍎 all the time. My only regret is not purchasing a smartphone back in ‘07 from Steve Jobs. Presently, I own an iPhone 6s Plus in rose gold (2016), iPad Mini (2016), iPad Pro (2019) & MacBook (2018) in rose gold with matching Beats By Dre headphones. All four are set up with Safari, not Chrome, TOR, Brave, Edge, or DDGo. I love the ability to quickly save favorites, add to reading list & share content to other platforms. My favorites are alphabetized for quick reference & the reading list keeps all articles & pages in chronological order for quick recall. Also, I learned Safari quickly because it’s extremely user friendly. The browser helped my navigation of Apple when switching from PC. I’ll admit, learning MacBook isn’t easy, but, Safari keeps things familiar for me on the desktop. When lost, just go back to Safari & start over. It’s surprising no one in tech media mentions Safari more often as a go to source for navigating the internet. Chrome is the reigning king of, Land Of Browsers, without an heir apparent. I nominate Safari as the prince with future king potential. Citizens of Land Of Browsers don’t like their chrome-plated dirty laundry aired, sold or tracked.

I have been using this for years and had no problems with it. I ran over my phone with my lawn mower and was without my phone for over a year due to having to fight with the insurance company. However when I finally got a lawyer involved the insurance company finally replaced it for me. I DID not lose anything and I mean anything. I like the cards better because they are easier to clear out. You have to back everything up to your cloud every day or every other day so that you don’t have to worry about losing anything. As I always make sure that I back everything up just in case. It is not apples fault if you lose your any of your information it is yours for not backing up your phone to your cloud. So most of the people who write bad reviews either don’t back up or they just don’t or they just don’t care. Apple doesn’t charge a lot to add more space to your cloud so there is no reason why you can’t back you things. This is better than anything that google has. By far. If you want your information used by third parties then use google’s and quit complaining. You can change your browser in safari so that you don’t have to use them get with it you bad reviews and learn how to use safari.

How to Search for Content in the Safari App

As with all web browsers, you’ll need to first enable your iPhone’s mobile data or connect to a Wi-Fi network to access the internet.

Then, to search in Safari, simply type a term, phrase, or URL into the Smart Search bar at the bottom of the screen and tap Go on your keyboard. One of the handiest types of software in anyone’s quiver is the browser extension: those cool little applets that let your browser do what you want it to do. And one of the nicest things about iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 is that you can now add extensions to the Safari browser. Even though this is a new feature that launched with the latest iOS version, there are already a number of useful extensions available for you to add.

What follows is a rundown on how to add extensions to your Safari app — while we’ve illustrated the process using an iPhone, you can follow the same basic directions with an iPad. We’ve also included a sampling of some extensions you can try.

How to add extensions

• Tap on the Settings app.
• Scroll down to and select Safari > Extensions.
• Any extensions that you’ve already installed will be listed here. Tap on “More Extensions” if you’d like to see what’s available in the App Store. (You can also simply go to the App Store and search on “Safari Extensions.”)

• Once you’ve installed your first extension, you’ll see a little “puzzle piece” icon on the left side of Safari’s address bar. Tap that, and the menu that pops up will include your current extensions plus a “Manage Extensions” selection, which lets you toggle your extensions on and off.

This is a small sampling of some of the extensions that you can now access via the App Store. While there are not many extensions yet available (compared to the number of extensions for, say, Chrome), it’s a pretty safe bet that there will be lots more to come over the next few months.

Amplosion ($2.99)

AMP, which is short for “Accelerated Mobile Pages,” is a web format created by Google to optimize search results for mobile browsers. However, if you’d rather not have Google tweaking the webpages you upload, you can use Amplosion to redirect the AMP links that show up in search results into normal mobile links.

Noir ($2.99)

When you’re browsing at night and you’ve set your iPhone or iPad to dark mode, you will often hit a website that is bright enough to make your eyes water. Noir allows you to set a dark mode for all the websites you visit.

1Password (subscription needed)

1Password is a well-known and respected password manager . If you’re a 1Password user, there’s no question that you’re going to want to add this one to your mobile Safari app.

Super Agent for Safari (free)

This handy extension automatically fills out a website’s cookie consent forms based on your preferences, which can save you a lot of time and irritation.

UK’s Browser and Cloud Investigation may fail to allow Web App competition

Most importantly "Apple shall allow third-party browsers to install and manage Web Apps using their own browser engine." . We need YOU to write to the CMA (before August 29th) and provide feedback on why allowing browsers to compete in providing Web App functionality is important.

# What’s happening?

As readers may recall, the UK Competition and Markets Authority launched a Market Investigation Reference (MIR) into mobile browsers and cloud gaming on June 10th 2022. Apple was briefly able to halt this via legal technicalities but thankfully the CMA won in the high court late last year restarting the investigation .

From our extensive work in supporting the Mobile Ecosystems Study , we know the key reason the Market Investigation Reference into Browsers and Cloud Gaming was launched was to enable the free, open and interoperable ecosystem of the web to contest Apple’s and Google’s app stores, reducing costs for UK’s consumers and businesses. While regulators across the world were focused on app stores, the UK was the only regulator that was looking towards the web and web apps to solve these issues on mobile ecosystems. This aim was made clear by the opening statements of the Browsers and Cloud MIR :

We all rely on browsers to use the internet on our phones, and the engines that make them work have a huge bearing on what we can see and do . Right now, choice in this space is severely limited and that has real impacts – preventing innovation and reducing competition from web apps . We need to give innovative tech firms, many of which are ambitious start-ups, a fair chance to compete. Andrea Coscelli - Chief Executive of the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (emphasis added)

Last week the browsers and cloud MIR released their remedies paper outlining their initial thoughts on remedies and asking for feedback. While the paper contains a number of excellent remedies, not least of which is prohibiting Apple from banning browser engines from iOS, we are deeply concerned that the MIR will fail in its goal of allowing third party browsers to enable effective competition from Web Apps.

This list is on page 21 of the Browsers and Cloud Remedies Paper . Issue 1 – Apple’s WebKit restriction

A1 - Requirement for Apple to grant access to alternative browser engines to iOS.

A2 - Requirement for Apple to grant equivalent access to iOS to browsers using alternative browser engines.

A3 - Requirement for Apple to grant equivalent access to APIs used by WebKit and Safari to browsers using alternative browser engines.

Issue 2 – Apple’s and Google’s control over supply of browser engines to restrict access to functionalities

• A4 - Requirement for Google to grant equivalent access to APIs used by Chrome.

Issue 3 – Apple preventing all rival browser vendors from offering remote tab IABs on iOS

B1 - A requirement for Apple to enable remote tab IABs for WebKit-based browsers.

B2 - A requirement for Apple to enable remote tab IABs for browsers wishing to use alternative browser engines.

Issue 4 – Apple preventing rival browser engines from offering nonWebKit based webview IABs, including bundled engine IABs to app developers on iOS

• B3 - A requirement for Apple to allow alternative webviews to Apple’s iOS WKWebView.

Issue 5 – on Android, default settings and preinstallation of Android WebView make it difficult for app developers to use IABs based on alternative webviews

• No remedies proposed.

Issue 6 – Apple’s and Google’s IAB policies offer users limited choice and control in relation to which browser is used for IAB implementation in native apps

B4 - A requirement for Apple and Google to implement remote tab IABs using the default browser.

B5 - A requirement for Apple and Google to make users aware of being in an IAB by implementing changes to the interface or implement disclosures.

B6 - A requirement for Apple and Google to implement opt-out settings for in-app browsing.

Issue 7 - Apple’s and Google’s control of choice architecture in factory settings

C1 - A requirement for Apple and Google to ensure that multiple browsers are pre-installed, using defined criteria.

C2 - A requirement for Apple and Google to ensure the use of browser choice screens at device set-up.

C3 - A requirement for Apple and Google to ensure the placement of a default browser selected by the user in the ‘dock’ / ‘hot seat’ or on the default home screen at device set-up.

C4 - A requirement for Apple and Google to ensure that a user’s choice of default browser is always followed across all browser access points.

Issue 8 - Apple’s and Google’s use of certain choice architecture practices after device set-up

C5 - A requirement for Apple and Google to ensure the use of browser choice screen(s) after device set-up.

C6 - A requirement for Apple and Google to make adaptations to the user journey for changing their default browser.

C7 - A requirement for Apple and Google to share user data on default browsers settings with browser vendors.

C8 - A requirement for Apple and Google to ensure that the frequency of default browser prompts and notifications is limited.

C9 - A requirement for Apple and Google to allow users to uninstall Safari browser app on iOS and Chrome on Android devices.

Issue 9 – Apple’s App Store policies in relation to cloud gaming services

D1 - A requirement for Apple to review and amend its Guidelines to remove the specific restriction identified as restrictive and a prohibition on Apple introducing new restrictions with equivalent effect.

D2 - A requirement for Apple to enable cloud gaming native apps to operate on a ‘read-only’ basis (i.e. with no ingame purchases or subscriptions) so that games do not need to be re-coded and no commission would therefore be payable to Apple).

Issue 10 – app store rules in relation to in-app payment systems for in-game transactions

• D3 - A requirement for Apple and Google to allow CGSPs to incorporate their own or third party in-app payment systems for in-game transactions.

# Why might the MIR fail?

In the remedies the MIR team is proposing both removing Apple’s rule banning browsers from using their own browser engines and obligating Apple to provide equivalent iOS API access to third party browser vendors that Safari and WebKit have.

# 1. Browsers can’t Install Web Apps using their own Engine

The problem is that these do not fix the core issue, namely, can browsers compete in the provision of Web App functionality using their own browser engine. Apple could plausibly argue that allowing browsers to use their own engine and providing them access to the share menu to install Apple’s WebKit implementation of Web Apps satisfies both requirements.

This could lead to a situation where while browser engines such as Blink (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Vivaldi, DuckDuckGo, Brave) and Gecko (Firefox) could be ported to iOS, browser vendors would be unable to compete to improve the stability, functionality, security or privacy of Web Apps. This would still be under Apple’s sole control.

As noted in the CMA’s mobile ecosystems study, Apple is heavily incentivized not to support Web Apps to their full potential. Certain features such as install prompts that would allow Web Apps to compete more fairly with Apple’s own apps and app store, will almost certainly never be implemented by Apple.

By requiring all browsers on iOS to use the WebKit browser engine, Apple is able to exert control over the maximum functionality of all browsers on iOS and, as a consequence, hold up the development and use of web apps. This limits the competitive constraint that web apps pose on native apps , which in turn protects and benefits Apple’s App Store revenues. Worse when faced with the genuine possibility of third-party browsers effectively powering Web Apps due to the EU’s Digital Markets Act, Apple's first instinct was to remove Web Apps support in the EU entirely with no notice to either businesses or consumers . Luckily, under significant pressure, Apple backed down from this particular stunt at the last moment.

# 2. Browser Access to Software/Hardware APIs is Insufficient

Next, the wording on remedy A3 ("Requirement for Apple to grant equivalent access to APIs used by WebKit and Safari to browsers using alternative browser engines.") is scoped to only what Safari and WebKit have access to, which is a problem as that could allow Apple to set a ceiling by blocking Safari from having access to stuff Apple does not intend to implement for the Web, i.e. Bluetooth, USB etc. If Apple is not under any legal obligation to share needed Software/Hardware APIs required to support browser or Web App features that Safari does not support, they will not provide access to those APIs.

It is critical that Apple can not reserve functionality for its own apps, system services and apps delivered by its app store by blocking browser vendors access to the required hardware and software APIs. Where feasible browser vendors should have the right to provide feature parity to Web Apps.

# 3. Web Apps can’t succeed without Install Prompts

In order for Web Apps to have a significant opportunity to truly compete on iOS, Safari needs to implement install prompts (the ability for websites to prompt, or provide a button to install them as a Web App). Apple, understanding the importance of reducing friction, has implemented a large variety of ways to install apps from Apple’s app store via Safari including smart banners and app clips while keeping the method of installing Web Apps hidden away in the share menu .

We believe four additional remedies needed in order to allow the Web to compete fairly on iOS:

"Apple shall allow third-party browsers to install and manage Web Apps using their own browser engine."

"A requirement for Apple to implement Install Prompts for iOS Safari."

"A requirement for Apple to grant all software and hardware access to APIs to browsers using alternative browser engines that they require to port their engines and implement stability, functionality, security and privacy. Restrictions on this can be subject to only strictly necessary, proportionate and justified security grounds."

"Where feature parity between Web Apps and Native Apps is possible, Apple must technically enable it and it should not be artificially prevented either by OS rules or OS design. Apple must not self-preference their own Apps, Apps sold via their App Store or their own Services over Web Apps."

These remedies are required because Apple's actions not only hurt the Web ecosystem, third-party businesses (be they browser vendors or software developers), but also make their devices worse for their own consumers. By depriving their consumers of the choice and competition that fair and effective browser and Web App competition would bring, they are worsening the functionality, interoperability, stability, security, privacy, and price of services on their devices. This MIR has the power to fix this for the UK, which will be a significant step towards fixing the problem globally.

After 3 years of work from the CMA, it would be incredibly disappointing to get to the end of the investigation without resolving the anti-competitive behaviour that is preventing web apps from succeeding and unlocking innovation.

If possible, explain the harm that has been caused by browsers not being able to compete in the provision of Web App functionality on iOS.

Safari Not Working On Your iPhone? Here Are 4 Things To Try

Back when the iPhone was first announced in 2007, one of the three highlighting features of the product was the ability to surf the web anytime and anywhere. Fast-forward a couple of years, and the internet browsing experience on mobile has improved tenfold, with most websites now offering a tailored mobile-friendly view, among other features.

Safari is the default web browsing app on all Apple devices, and is known for its simplistic design. Despite Google Chrome adding memory and battery saving features , Safari is deemed the best option when it comes to endurance and performance across Apple's range of products. But that's not all that the browser has going for it — you can find a good selection of Safari features that change the way you surf the web .

Unfortunately, no software is immune to bugs, and you may occasionally run into annoyances while trying to browse the internet using Safari. It could be the inability of the browser to load certain webpages, or just an error connecting to the internet as a whole. For those encountering problems with Safari on their iPhone, here are four troubleshooting steps that may identify and resolve the issue for you. The solutions also work for iPads and Macs, albeit with slightly different steps and menu names.

Check for app and system updates

The first thing to check for, in case of abnormalities with any of the apps installed on your phone, are updates. App developers are constantly rolling out newer builds that not just bring new features, but also address existing bugs. So, before you begin scouring for other possible reasons, it's best to check for any app updates available for Safari. 

• On your iPhone, open the App Store.
• Tap on your profile picture, located in the top-right corner of the screen.
• Scroll down, and you'll find a list of apps that have updates available.
• You can either choose to update all apps here, or find and update Safari specifically.

The Safari app will then be upgraded to the latest version, this time hopefully fixing any and all bugs. The same concept applies to system updates as a whole. Apple pushes out iOS updates to counter bugs quite frequently, so if you haven't updated your phone in a hot minute, now's a good time to do so.

• First, make sure you have at least 60% battery to begin with. Next, launch the Settings app on your iPhone.
• Navigate to General > Software Update.
• If your phone catches any pending updates, you can download and install them here.

Keeping your apps and system software up to date also safeguards you against malicious attacks, and the new features are just the cherry on top!

Troubleshoot network settings

Not being able to surf the web using Safari may be caused due to improper network configuration. Start by making sure you're connected to the internet through either Wi-Fi or cellular. There are ways to fix an iPhone that won't connect to the internet, including staying in proximity to your router or rebooting it. Try to see if you can connect to the internet using any other browser on your iPhone.

If you're utilizing a VPN on your iPhone , it is worth disconnecting from it to check if that fixes Safari. Most websites on the internet depend heavily on JavaScript to handle actions and logic, and this feature is turned on by default on the iPhone. You can confirm this by navigating to Settings > Safari > Advanced and enabling the "JavaScript" toggle.

In case you haven't been able to connect to the Internet in Safari while on mobile data, navigate to Settings > Cellular. Depending on your region, this may be labelled as "Mobile". Under the "Cellular Data" options, tap on "Show All", and make sure the toggle for Safari is enabled — the app won't be able to use your cellular network otherwise. If all else fails, and you've been noticing network issues system-wide, it may be worth it to reset all network settings on your iPhone . 

Clear Safari's website data

The web browser is probably one of the most used apps on anyone's phone, and the amount of data it handles and stores grows tremendously over time. There are a few ways to clear your iPhone's cache , and occasionally purging your browser's data can free up storage and fix broken app behavior. 

• On your iPhone, launch the Settings app.
• Scroll down to find the Safari app. Alternatively, you can perform a search in case you have a lot of apps installed on your device. 
• Tap on "Clear History and Website Data". 
• You will see a pop-up with a few options where you can select the timeframe to clear your browsing history. 
• Select "All history" and check the "Close All Tabs" toggle.
• Tap on "Clear History".

Head back to the app drawer and launch Safari. Try searching for something on the internet to see if the browser is now operational. Do note that clearing Safari's history will sign you out of all websites. While this trick is useful to speed sluggish performance or resolve miscellaneous bugs, cached data actually serves a lot of purpose and makes your browsing experience much faster, so don't overdo it. 

Restart your iPhone

In the realm of tech support, all roads lead to the same advice — have you tried turning it off and back on again? Though not very common in iOS, it's possible for certain apps and services to break, and the quickest way to address these issues would be to perform a restart of the device. We wouldn't blame if you are unfamiliar with the process — iPhones are generally known for their stability, leaving little to no reason for troubleshooting measures such as this.

Depending on your iPhone model, the steps to reboot it will vary. For iPhones without the home button, follow these steps to perform a system reboot:

• Press and hold either the volume down or volume up button in combination with the side button. 
• You will see the power menu pop up. Swipe the "slide to power off" slider at the top.
• Your iPhone will take a few seconds to shut down. 
• Wait at least 30 seconds, then press and hold the side key to turn your iPhone back on.

For older iPhone models that still rock the trusty home button, simply press and hold the side button and then swipe to power off. In even older models like the iPhone SE, you will have to hold down the top button instead. Restarting is the same as holding down the power button until you see the Apple logo on the screen.

Keep in mind that clearing the cache can clear private data, which can close all open tabs in Safari. This is also likely to log you out of all your websites, prompting you to sign in again the next time you open them. 

How do I clear the cache from Chrome on iPhone?

If Google Chrome is your preferred browser, it may have a substantial amount of data stored on your device, which could also slow down performance. 

To clear the cache in Chrome, open the Google Chrome app and follow these steps:

• Tap  Settings .
• Go to  Privacy and Security .
• Select  Clear Browsing Data .
• Select the time from which to delete the data (if you want to delete all your browsing history, choose All Time ).
• Go through the items you'd like to delete, like your Browsing History, Cookies and Site Data, Cached Images and Files, Saved Passwords , and Autofill Data.
• Confirm by tapping  Clear Browsing Data  at the bottom of the screen.
• Tap Done when you've deleted the Chrome cache.

Clearing the browsing and cache data in Google Chrome doesn't close all open tabs, but it will refresh each tab and log you out of websites. Once you tap on one of the tabs you want to access, you'll have to log back in.

How can I browse on Safari without history?

If you're learning how to clear cache on an iPhone, you may also be wondering if there's a way to use Safari without saving any browsing history. You can turn on Private Browsing by following these steps:

• Open  Safari .
• Tap on  Tabs .
• Choose Private .

You can also enable private browsing by going to your iPhone Settings, finding Safari, and toggling on the private option. 

How do I clear my app cache on my iPhone?

Apple Podcasts is now available for all web browsers

Apple Podcasts now supports web browsers. The audio streaming service, which debuted in iTunes in 2005, is finally a cross-platform service.

You may be aware that Apple Music and Apple TV are already available for web browsers, and so is iCloud , and there are Windows apps for all three services. The Cupertino company surprised everyone when it announced Apple Maps on the web last month. Speaking of which, Apple Maps on the web now supports Firefox, which it didn't when it launched.

Access Apple Podcasts in your browser

This time, there are no such issues. Apple Podcasts supports all major web browsers, including Firefox, Chrome, Edge and Safari. I tested it on Firefox and Brave, and it worked just fine. The audio streaming service is available through the Podcasts app on macOS, but accessing it via a browser can offer a better experience.

So, how to access Apple Podcasts in web browsers? Just head over to https://podcasts.apple.com/ . Use the search bar on the left to find a show to listen to. Or you can browse the library, or use the Top Charts to discover podcasts that you may be interested in.

You can listen to episodes without signing in, but there are some limitations. For example, you will need to sign in to your Apple account to listen to episodes that contain explicit content. Signing in is useful for syncing your between devices. If you are already subscribed to some shows (on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac), you will be able to access them quickly via the web app, when you sign in. The only thing that I missed in the web app were the transcripts that are available in the Podcasts app.

Note: Apple Podcasts requires the Google Widevine plugin to be installed in your browser, if you don't have it, then the playback will fail.

When I tried playing some episodes, I ran into a message that said, "An Error occurred. Something went wrong. Please refresh the page and try again." I thought it was uBlock Origin that was causing the problem, but Firefox's Enhanced Protection Tracking turned out to be the culprit, and the website worked fine after I disabled it.

Apple Podcasts on the web is fantastic, while it may be particularly useful for people who have don't have a Mac, i.e. if you have a Windows or Linux computer and an iPhone or iPad, you can also use it even if you don't have an Apple device at all. That's the important thing here, Apple has opened the service for more users. It is worth mentioning that not all podcasts are ad-free, some of them may come with ads. Apple doesn't insert ads in episodes, the podcast's host may embed ads directly in the feed, which is why some shows may contain ads. I couldn't find a way to add podcasts via RSS feeds, but you could probably add it through the Podcasts app on your iPhone or Mac, and then access it via the website.

If you want a standalone desktop app to listen to podcasts, and download episodes, gPodder is a good choice. It is available for Windows, macOS and Linux. Or, if you prefer a browser extension, there is the podStation add-on for Chrome. Android users may want to check AntennaPod on Google Play or F-Droid.

I built my own personal library of shows over the years and kept it updated. But if there’s no ‘Low Data/Low BitRate 16KB/s or less’ RSS Feeds, it’s a no go.

It appears maybe Apple is trying to compete with Spotify, that offers nothing more than tracking and ‘Bloated Tracking Apps’

Opera One Browser Launches on iOS With Aria AI Integration, Voice Input, Image Generation, and More

Opera has released its artificial intelligence-powered Opera One browser for iOS, following several weeks in beta testing.

The search bar sits at the bottom of the interface for easier access, provides quick search suggestions while typing, and includes Aria AI assistant integration. There's also a new swipe-to-search gesture that lets users activate the search bar with a simple swipe down, similar to when users search for apps from the ‌iPhone‌'s Home Screen via Spotlight. The placed search bar is the default option, but users can alternatively choose Standard Navigation or Fast Action Button style.

Aria can assist with a wide range of tasks, from web searches to generating text and images, according to Opera. With Voice Input, Aria allows users to speak queries instead of typing them, making it convenient when on the move or in need of hands-free operation. Aria can also create images using Google's Imagen2 model, enabling users to generate visuals simply by providing a prompt.
