The Grand Tour Trailer Released As Series Comes To An Emotional End - WATCH

Saajan jogia | 3 hours ago.

The Grand Tour YouTube Screenshot

Motoring enthusiasts could dread the 13th of September as it marks the final time a motoring show with the three top presenters of the automotive world, Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond, head out on an adventure in Zimbabwe. This emotional and spirited journey, titled "One For The Road," is part of The Grand Tour series and will air exclusively on Amazon Prime.

The trio has been popular since its BBC Top Gear days, famous for its brutal car reviews, splendid British humor, high-speed action, a ton of car knowledge, and of course, for its Top Gear specials. However, it wasn't just the cars, it was the unmatchable chemistry between three friends who pretended to hate each other that turned out to work the most. Their playful banter and seamless camaraderie became the hallmark of the episodes of Top Gear, making each episode an unforgettable experience.

The show was a favorite among car enthusiasts in their twenties, thirties, and forties, with its specials standing out as particularly memorable. Highlights included the 1,000-mile motorcycle adventure through Vietnam, the quest to locate the source of the Nile in three second-hand estate cars, and the dramatic crossing of Africa's salt flats and game reserves in three worn-out cars with no doors.

The series also featured specials involving muscle cars in a journey across America to set top speed records on the salt flats and the polar expedition, which showcased a gripping man vs. nature scenario and marked the first car to reach the North Pole. These iconic events became the stuff of legend for car fans, who could only dream of such adventures themselves.

However, Clarkson, May, and Hammond left the BBC after Clarkson was involved in a 'fracas'. The three, alongside producer Andy Wilman, started their own production company to film The Grand Tour. They collaborated with Amazon to feature the show exclusively on Prime. After its first series in 2016, when it broke all records, the trio embarked on adventures every year, demonstrating that even as they aged into their fifties and sixties, their enthusiasm for high-octane exploration remained undiminished.

Sadly, it appears that the era of car explorations is coming to an end this year. The trio will journey to Zimbabwe, followed by a nostalgic return to Botswana, the birthplace of their Top Gear specials. They will embark on a breathtaking road trip through dramatic and challenging landscapes in a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri 3-liter, and a Triumph Stag, before wrapping up the episode with an emotionally charged finale on a strangely familiar island.

When asked at the Edinburgh TV Festival why the trio was ending the global phenomenon, as reported by Daily Mail , Wilman said:

"We are getting to the point where enough is enough. On top of that, there is the sense that we want to end things on our own terms. It had to come to an end and we wanted to be the ones who called it."

The episode was shot in September last year where the trio will return to Kubu Island, Botswana. Wilman described the episode as "deliberately gentle" as the three stars wanted to go back to where they started from. He added:

"They wanted to go 'unplugged'. We wanted to go back to 2005, leave the dynamite at home, we will go with s*** old cars. They give you more TV than modern new cars, they give you more stories, more laughs. So they wanted evocative cars that they adore and they wanted to be in Africa. It is the favorite continent we ever filmed in.

"Their comradery is next level. I think that you can see that they know this is the last time they will do this.

"We decided a long time ago. The one thing we wanted to be in control of is deciding when and where and how we landed."

In recent years, the three presenters have each pursued their own ventures. Clarkson turned to farming, leading to the expansion of several related businesses. May launched his gin and invested in a pub, and Hammond opened a new garage.

As life progresses and time moves on, some things remain deeply cherished in our hearts. For many, Clarkson, May, and Hammond are more than just television personalities—they embody our passions, the machines we love, and the thrill of adventure. Through their unforgettable journeys and insightful humor, they have taught us to appreciate, respect, and savor the marvels of automotive engineering, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to inspire and delight.

It remains to be seen if Clarkson makes use of his popular line in the upcoming episode - "And on that bombshell, it is time to end."

Comedian Louis C.K. , whose career derailed after he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women in 2017, is making a return to stand-up comedy in a nationwide tour beginning next week, he announced on his website.

Revealed on Wednesday, C.K. has shows in 30 cities, including New York, Chicago, Detroit, San Diego, Philadelphia, Boston and more. His first stand-up show is set for the Hulu Theatre at Madison Square Garden on August 13, with a follow-up show the next night. The tour ends at the Orpheum Theater in Boston on December 11.

In 2017, C.K. was accused by multiple women of masturbating in front of them during the onset of the #MeToo era. In a report by the New York Times, comedians Dana Min Goodman and Julia Wolov alleged that C.K. invited them to his hotel room during the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colo., in 2002 and stripped naked and began to masturbate. Comedian Rebecca Corry also told the Times that while she was working with C.K. on a TV pilot in 2005, he allegedly asked her if he could go to her dressing room and masturbate while she watched.

Last year, C.K. released a comedy special on his website where he made light of his sexual misconduct allegations .

“How was your last couple of years? How was 2018 and 2019 for you guys? Anybody else get in global amounts of trouble?” he asks the crowd in the special. He continued, “I learned a lot. I learned how to eat alone in a restaurant with people giving me the finger from across the room.”

In addition to his U.S. tour dates, C.K. also has international shows set for Ukraine, Germany, Denmark and Romania in 2022.

Pga tour gets the top-50 churn it wanted, but did it get it right.

  • Ryan Lavner ,
  • Ryan Lavner

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. – There was a collective sigh of relief last weekend when Hideki Matsuyama closed out the FedEx St. Jude Championship, bringing an end to what had been 17 months of turmoil.

It began in March 2023, a tense time for the PGA Tour. The top players were getting rich but, apparently, not rich enough. LIV Golf was poaching some of its biggest needle-movers and threatening the Tour’s business model. And a wide swath of the membership was unhappy, some even furious, with a new signature-event series that promised to create an even more distinct class system.

As usual, Rory McIlroy was put in front of reporters to explain the intricacies of the new program that would place heightened importance on being among the top 50 in the FedExCup – the rarified air that would guarantee access to the biggest events, the biggest purses, the biggest point totals.

At the time, there was reasonable concern that the model was creating a closed shop that went against the very spirit of professional golf as the ultimate meritocracy. That capping the fields at the marquee events, each with elevated point totals, was simply insulating those players from poor performance while making it too difficult for others to break in.

The Tour’s goal was to match the usual turnover rate (34-38%), and its data team crunched and re-crunched the numbers in hopes of recreating that typical churn among the top 50 with its new point breakdown.

All that was at stake was players’ careers.

In a quiet moment at TPC Sawgrass, McIlroy said, “They’ve done thousands of simulations. They’ve got some great technology. I trust it. I’ll trust that until it gives me a reason not to. This is what it’s giving us. We don’t know if this is the perfect system. Are there going to continue to be tweaks to this to make it better? Of course. At this point, we just have to go with it and see.”

Unanimous approval is impossible to find on Tour. We’re reminded of this every year with the FedExCup playoffs, which has been endlessly tweaked since its introduction in 2007 and still, even now, doesn’t always achieve its stated goal of identifying the season-long champion.

And, no, this fledging signature-event series model isn’t flawless either. Tournament winners clogged up one of the two pathways into the signature events. The cadence of the schedule created long stretches for those trying to ride hot streaks. A pedestrian signature-event finish still might be weighted too heavily. Sponsor exemptions to Tour policy board members raised eyebrows.

But in Year 1, at least, it did produce the intended result: There are 19 “new” players among the top 50, a churn rate of 38%.

“I think it seems about right,” said Adam Scott, a player director on the Tour policy board. “It’s about what it’s been every other year. As much as we dissect everything the PGA Tour does, it’s been the benchmark of professional golf; it doesn’t mean that it gets everything right, but it’s been a successful product. I’d be happy to hear any case why that churn rate should be different than that, because you can’t just go far away from what’s been successful until there’s another reason to do so.

“So, in fairness, I’d give that team back there in Ponte Vedra credit. They ran the simulations. And in this instance, there were some outspoken people at the end of last year that said this is all very wrong, and it’s not really worked out like that. Is it absolutely perfect? No. But it certainly doesn’t seem unfair.”

Those who dropped out of the FedEx top 50, year over year, ranged from the obvious to the unfortunate to the underwhelming.

Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton opened up two spots simply by defecting to LIV. Jordan Spieth battled through a lingering wrist injury. Rickie Fowler seemed to lose his game, again. Some who had padded their point totals by playing the previous fall to crack the top-50 threshold last summer – volume-shooters who now have less room to operate with the Tour’s return to a calendar-year schedule – spent this postseason on the sidelines.

Those who weren’t retained among the Tour’s ruling class didn’t necessarily play poorly in 2024; only Fowler, who was 106 th , finished outside the top 80.

It just wasn’t good enough.

And that’s OK, too.

“It’s hard,” Justin Thomas said, “but it’s also hard to keep a job at any professional level. Maybe we’ve just been a little generous in the past. And it’s like, look, if we want the best product, we want the best players, then all of us have to earn it. And that’s just what it is.”

GOLF: AUG 17 PGA FedExCup Playoffs - FedEx St. Jude Championship

Those who narrowly misse d qualifying for the 50-man BMW Championship should feel similarly.

Tom Kim lost in a playoff in a signature event and would have advanced if not for a late collapse in Memphis.

Maverick McNealy was the 12 th -best player on Tour this season in strokes-gained: total and is now watching from home.

Patrick Rodgers earned his most top-10s in a season (four) since 2015 and didn’t get through.

The margins are thin. Always have been.

For the most part, their near-misses weren’t because of a lack of opportunity. Of the eight players who were closest to the top-50 cutoff, seven played in at least seven signature events; McNealy, who got in only one, was coming off an injury-plagued 2023 and came into the new year needing to fulfill a major medical exemption. Zoomed out even wider: Of the players who finished Nos. 51-70 in the standings, 15 of them played at least four of the marquee events.

In other words, they still needed to take advantage of their golden opportunity.

Rookie Jake Knapp (No. 59) won in Mexico and was gifted access into the five remaining signature events. His combined average finish in those tournaments: 56th. It was a similar story for Taylor Moore (No. 64), who was in all eight signature events this year. But his average finish in those with a cut: 45 th .

“You have to have a really, really good year to make it into the top 50,” Thomas said.

So, how did this BMW field come together?

Ten of the 19 newbies in the top 50 were Tour winners in 2024, aiding the circuit’s case that it still prioritizes trophies. Those victories unlocked immediate access into the marquee events for the remainder of the season, an avenue that proved helpful for, among others, Matthieu Pavon, Akshay Bhatia, Billy Horschel, Stephan Jaeger, Taylor Pendrith and Austin Eckroat. Even those who won later in the year, once the premier events were largely wrapped up – such as Robert MacIntyre, Davis Thompson and Aaron Rai – had done enough previously to get across the line.

“I sit here now and I’m an example that if you play well and you take advantage of the opportunities that you get – whether it’s in some signature events or you play well in the majors where there are more FedExCup points – you can get inside the top 50,” Horschel said. “Is it easy? No, it isn’t. It’s going to be hard, and it should be a little bit of a challenge. Nothing should be handed to us by any means.”

Max Greyserman is standing outside the clubhouse at Castle Pines, a bag slung over his shoulder, his work done for the day.

The Tour rookie was one of the bubble boys last week in Memphis but, with a final-round 63, secured his spot among the coveted top 50. It capped a dizzying summer stretch for a player who, just two months ago, was worried about simply keeping his card. Then he played well in the U.S. Open, finished second at the 3M Open and woulda-coulda-shoulda won the regular-season finale in Greensboro.

Greyserman, 29, recalled hearing at rookie orientation all about the signature events and swings and churn rates, but he was more focused on his own schedule. As a first-timer on Tour, he was determined to play in every single tournament for which he was eligible, trying to stockpile points and maybe sneak his way into a few elevated events. That turned out to be a 23-tournament slate in which he hasn’t had two consecutive weeks off in more than six months.

“It’s just the way the Tour is structured,” he said, “that you just start from behind.”

Not that Greyserman was complaining. Over the course of his rookie season, he became acutely aware of how there’s essentially two tours now – one for the haves, the other for the have-mores.

“You’re getting into less events, you’re playing for fewer points overall, but on the flip side of that, you’re not playing against Scottie (Scheffler), Rory and Xander (Schauffele) who routinely finish inside the top 10,” he said. “It’s a stark difference, and I feel like there’s a different level of golf for the top guys.

“So, I think the current structure is fair because you get the opportunity not to play against the Scotties of the world and still accumulate points. Do you start from behind? Yes. But that’s just how it goes.”

And it’s what made his payoff into the BMW that much more satisfying. Greyserman is one of just two players (Rai) who made the elite field without playing a single signature event this year.

He did it his way. The hard way.

“I’m really, really happy,” he said, “because last week changed everything for me.”

Before his torrid close to the season, Greyserman was already preparing for the fall. He’d made travel plans and intended to sign up for every event, hoping to climb the standings and, through the Nos. 51-60 points category, gain entry into at least the first two signature events of the new year.

But now, with his new status, he’s rethinking everything. He can go to Napa for a working vacation with his wife. He can go play in Japan, if only to gorge on sushi. He can play the Tour stop in Vegas at his old home course.

There’s still plenty of motivation: A win or top-50 world ranking by the end of the year gets him into the Masters (currently 51 st ). But some of the pressure to chase points is off.

“My whole career has been a rat race,” Greyserman said, “and now, for the first time, it’s not. Everything is so fresh and new now.”

And it’s why it’s instructive to look back at how McIlroy framed the discussion that day in March 2023. It was all about access, he said, and ensuring that, even if it’s now a bit harder, the players still got a fair shot at altering their career trajectories.

“And there’s one way to solve that,” he said. “It’s to shoot the scores and qualify.”

The Tour’s parlance has changed. The goalposts have moved. But 17 months later, that central tenet remains.

Battersea Power Station: trip to the top

Battersea Power Station seen from the River Thames

Even if its bulk is familiar from a distance – and it's hard to miss, by the Thames next to Vauxhall – you'll still be impressed by the scale of Battersea Power Station up close.

Built between 1929 and 1955, this Art Deco edifice is one of the world's largest brick-built buildings. One of its architects, Giles Gilbert Scott, also designed the famous red phone box, as well as Bankside Power Station, now home to Tate Modern .

At peak production, Battersea supplied a fifth of London's electricity, but stopped generating power in 1983. In 1980 it was Grade II listed.

After many years derelict, in 2018 the building was sold to Malaysian developers, in what was then Britain's biggest property deal, and the power station reopened in 2022. This year its restoration won three awards from the Royal Institute of British Architects.

For the best first impression, catch the River Bus to Battersea Power Station, and get a great view from the Coaling Jetty, where ships delivered coal to fire the turbines, now home to a couple of bars. Its eponymous Tube station, on a spur of the Northern Line, opened in 2021.

Take Lift 109 to the top of the tower

View inside the chimney from Lift 109, Battersea Power Station

Heading for the top of the chimney

Before the ascent, there's an exhibition on the building's history. You're shepherded into a small room, where an immersive-type lightshow reveals more about its past. Then up 39 steps, and as the staircase curves, you realise you're in the bottom of the chimney.

The lift is circular with see-through walls and roof, and ascends quickly and quietly through coloured rings of light, before popping out of the top of the chimney.

View from Lift 109 at Battersea Power Station

With no tall buildings nearby, the views from the top are uninterrupted

There's no room for a platform so you stay in the lift, but the 360-degree view is stunning. You can, of course, see the other chimneys, the power station roof, the new high street, Electric Boulevard, behind the power station, river traffic, and across to the Royal Hospital. Further afield we picked out MI6 HQ, Crystal Palace, The Shard and Wembley Arch.

And after you've spotted London landmarks, look at the wall of the chimney and see  how disturbingly thin it is!

Back down to earth, it's an exit through the gift shop.

Adults from £17; children (three to 15) from £12.60. Booking online is cheaper – prices on the door are £23.60 and £17.55. It's called Lift 109 because it's 109 metres to the top.

On the inside

In contrast to its noisy, hot and dirty origins, inside it is light, airy and calming. The simple tiled walls are punctuated with occasional details such as scrolling, or brick patterns, with no garish ad displays.

Walkways lined with shops, bars and restaurants, plus a cinema, table-tennis, and virtual reality gaming, run the length of the turbine hall.

On the first floor there's an exhibition of redevelopment plans over the years, some of which we must be grateful never came to fruition. Keep your eyes open for hints of the building's past – pop into Uniqlo to see retro metal-framed windows, and look up for gantries and cabs.

Eating and drinking

There are over 50 places to eat and drink, from fine dining to a grab-and-go snack. Find Mexican tortillas at El Pastor, a Mediterranean menu at Megan's, comfort food at Tashas, and Portuguese custard tarts in Santa Nata, or gelato at Venchi.

We opted for fresh pasta at Noci . Our mains were a crab and ricotta raviolo with baby courgettes, and rigatoni with spicy green olive and chilli pesto, both featuring perfectly al dente pasta enhanced by fresh-tasting ingredients.

From our table at Noci we could see Control Room B , which oversaw the output of Turbine Hall B, and as it's now a cocktail bar, it was about to oversee our input. Sit at the back for a close-up view of the control desks, switch gear and mysterious knobs, switches, dials and displays dating from the 1950s.

Control Room B cocktail bar, Battersea Power Station

Control Room B originally oversaw the output of Turbine Hall B

The menu is presented as a rolled-up blueprint and contains drinks named after power-generating processes and equipment, such as Voltmeter, Synchroscope and Feeder B1. The Ammeter topped vodka, peach and passion fruit with a sparkling wine froth and – with its nod to the 1930s by the inclusion of fassionola, a red fruity syrup – made the perfect toast to a south London day out with height and a sense of history.

Disgraced Comedian Louis C.K. Is Going on a Comeback Tour

ck top tour

Brace yourself, because Louis C.K. may be coming to a city near you. The disgraced comedian announced this week that he’ll be embarking upon a 24-city comeback tour, which kicks off in New York at Madison Square Garden on August 13th and August 14th, and concludes at the Orpheum Theater in Boston on December 11th.

C.K.’s career was derailed in 2017 at the onset of the #MeToo movement, after multiple women accused the veteran comic of sexual misconduct, alleging that he had masturbated—or had asked to do so—in front of them. Several of the accusers were aspiring comedians themselves. C.K. ultimately admitted to the misconduct, saying, “These stories are true. At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true.”

Following these revelations, C.K. was dropped by his management team at 3 Arts Entertainment, his APA agency, and publicist Lewis Kay . His Emmy-winning FX series, Louie , was also cancelled, as networks and streamers like FX, HBO, Netflix, distanced themselves from the comedian.

C.K. briefly retreated from public life before returning to standup in 2018, drawing intense criticism for jokes that targeted the victims of mass school shootings. “You’re not interesting because you went to a high school where kids got shot,” C.K. said during a gig in Long Island . More recently, C.K.—who claims he lost $35 million in an hour due to the allegations—has used his performances to downplay his own situation. In his 2020 comedy special “Sincerely, Louis C.K.,” C.K. joked about his misconduct: “How was your last couple of years? How was 2018 and 2019 for you guys? Anybody else get in global amounts of trouble?” he asks his audience. “I learned a lot. I learned how to eat alone in a restaurant with people giving me the finger from across the room.”

Everything we know about The Grand Tour: One For The Road

A final outing for former Top Gear trio Jeremy Clarkson , Richard Hammond and James May is heading our way at last as The Grand Tour : One For The Road careens over the horizon and onto Prime Video.

This last episode will mark the end of an era for this car-loving gang. After fronting Top Gear from 2002 until their 2015 departure, Clarkson, Hammond and May made their way to Prime Video for a brand new show called The Grand Tour. This debuted in 2016 but by 2023, news arrived that the show would be ending — but not without a couple of finale episodes.

The first of these was titled The Grand Tour: Sand Job and aired earlier this year, with details on when fans can expect the second recently released. Here’s everything we know about The Grand Tour: One For The Road so far…

When will The Grand Tour: One For The Road be released?

The Grand Tour: One For The Road will make its Prime Video debut on Friday, 13 September.

The show will become available simultaneously in over 240 different territories around the world and will bring Clarkson, Hammond and May’s time on The Grand Tour to a close.

Is there a trailer for The Grand Tour: One For The Road?

It’s the end of the road for The Grand Tour, with the trailer for One For The Road full of sentimentality and fond farewell vibes. The short teaser is largely without dialogue, instead focusing on intriguing clips of Clarkson, Hammond and May on one last go around, with the final trip taking them across Zimbabwe.

Watch the trailer by hitting play below.

What is The Grand Tour: One For The Road's trip?

The final episode of The Grand Tour takes its hosts to Zimbabwe as they hire three cars and take them on a road trip that’s been teased as being both “challenging” and “emotional.”

“In their last adventure, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May ignore the instructions of Mr Wilman and head to Zimbabwe in three cars they’ve always wanted to own, a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri 3-litre, and a Triumph Stag,” says the special’s official synopsis.

As per Prime Video, what follows is “a stunning road trip through beautiful and sometimes challenging landscapes leading to an emotional ending on a strangely familiar island.”

In late 2023, Clarkson took to social media to post about the trio’s final adventure, thanking both the government and the people of Zimbabwe for helping to end their series on a high note.

Posting to X , Clarkson said: “My profound thanks to the people and government of Zimbabwe for helping to make a very special Grand Tour special, very special. We absolutely adored everything about your country. Apart from the pot holes maybe.”

The Grand Tour: One For The Road will be released on Prime Video on Friday 13 September.
