• Run up the back side of Sand Hollow over & through washes, sand, whoops and a bit of rock crawling as we work our way up the mountain to the Flintstone House. Sitting approx. 3500 ft. elevation. Time for a quick snack and pictures. Then off to Diving Board Rock and Competition Hill for spectacular views of the majestic red rock formations, mountains and Sand Hollow Lake. Time for more pictures before we depart for Top of the world and then head back towards Sand Highway and enjoy an awesome ride down and through the dunes on our way back to the barn. • We head towards the Flinstone House from the back side of Sand Hollow over & through washes, sand, and a bit of rock crawling. Time for snacks and pictures, then off to Diving Board Rock, Competition Hill, Top of the World and a buzz through Outlaw Canyon before we hit Sand Highway as we ride through the dunes on our way back to the barn. Come enjoy breathtaking sites and scenery. Beautiful vista’s with views of red rock formations, mountains and Sand Hollow Lake.

Then off for some pictures of a couple of Pioneer Homes, fire roads to the Honeymoon Trail with a slow descent, time permitting we will head to the dinosaur tracks then back to the barn.

• 105 miles of off road discovery! Working our way to Ft. Pearce and Fort Pearce Wash past petroglyphs while we head to Main Street Wash up the wash headed to Glitter Mountain again hitting more trails ridges washesheding up and over mountains etc finally reaching THE PEAK which sits just over 6000 ft in elevation. From The Peak we work our way off the backside of the mountain, running through more washes, trails and hills headed to Barrel Cactus Canyon. Once we are through Barrel Cactus Canyon, we will venture through Warner Valley again crossing numerous washes running trail after trail working our way back to the Barn. Arapeen ohv trail.

Discover some of the rugged and remote treasures of Central Utah's Wasatch Plateau on the Arapeen OHV Trail. Located in the Manti La-Sal National Forest, the trail features accessible mountaintops overlooking spectacular high vistas and wide valleys dotted with small towns, each directly connected to this 600-mile trail system.

Buckskin Hills Recreation Complex

Buckskin Hills Recreation Complex offers year-round outdoor sports in Vernal. This includes mountain biking, ATV trails, a shooting range, drag strip and speedway, motocross, camping and a ski and snow tubing hill. ATV trails operate from March to October.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park

Located in the southwestern part of the state, about 90-percent of the dunes in Coral Pink are open for off-highway vehicles. Four-wheelers generally check out the Sand Highway, which is a one-way narrow trail in a small canyon on the boundary of the dunes, and the South Boundary Trail, which is several miles long and continues along the eastern side of the main dune area. Guided ATV tours are available.

Jordan River OHV State Recreation Area

Located in Northern Utah, the Jordan River OHV State Recreation Area is perfect for digging into the dirt. Four tracks — including two motocross tracks for off-highway motorcyclists and two dual-purpose OHM and ATV tracks — fill the space. For this densely populated part of the Wasatch Front, it's the perfect place to get your vehicles out for some quick off-road action.

Knolls OHV Special Recreation Management Area

Located about 80 miles west of Salt Lake City in Tooele County, Knolls Off-Highway Vehicle Special Recreation Management Area is a popular off-roading destination that is managed by the BLM. A part of the Great Salt Lake Desert, the area includes nearly 36,000 acres of sand dunes, rocky trails and mud flats.

Little Sahara Recreation Area

Little Sahara sits 115 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, less than a two-hour drive away. The 60,000-acre recreation area has become a playground for ATV enthusiasts. Beginners will want to head for the dunes southwest of Black Mountain. The White Sands dunes, in the northern portion of Little Sahara, are appropriate for riders of all skill levels. And Sand Mountain, rising 700 feet tall, is one of the park’s highlights and offers super-challenging hill climbing.

Paiute ATV Trail

The Paiute ATV Trail in Central Utah is one of the most well-mapped and well-maintained trail systems around. It comprises more than 900 miles of trail loops and spurs. An especially popular location for riding jamborees, the historic Paiute Trail is a bucket-list trip for any off-road enthusiast.

San Rafael Swell OHV Trails

Explore the San Rafael Swell's OHV trails for unmatched off-roading through Utah's diverse landscapes. The area, rich in mountains, canyons, deserts and forests, is perfect for adventurers seeking paths less traveled. Utah OHV Education Requirement

As of January 1, 2023, Utah requires all OHV operators to complete the Utah OHV Education Course . Completion is required in order to operate an OHV or street legal OHV on Utah's public land, roads or trails. 

Registration

Any OHV (ATV, UTV, motorcycle or snowmobile) must display a current OHV registration sticker. Most non-resident OHV operators are required to purchase a Non-resident OHV Permit for each ATV, UTV, OHM and snowmobile they bring into the state. These permits are available online or from vendors located near popular OHV destinations. Learn more about OHV registration in Utah.

Tread Lightly!

Not all areas are open to OHV use. Utah's mountains and deserts are fragile, remote and often adjacent to private land, so it is important to heed all rules and restrictions in order to protect yourself and the landscape. Check with Forest Service, BLM, or state park offices, before exploring on your own.

• Registered off-highway vehicles may be operated on public land, trails, streets, or highways that are posted by sign or designated by map or description as open to off-highway vehicle use by the controlling federal, state, county, or municipal agency. According to this law, all roads, etc. are closed to off-roading vehicles unless posted open.
• On U.S. Forest Service and BLM-administered land, off-highway use of any vehicle is permitted in designated areas only. Check with local agency offices for brochures and maps of appropriate areas.
• Off-highway vehicle use is NOT allowed in most national parks, wilderness areas or on lake shores.
• Practice fire safety: Spark arrestors are required on all off-highway vehicles (OHV). Don’t park a hot car or other machine in dry grass, even when pulling over on the side of the road.

Rent ATV's or UTV's and explore the 60+ miles of trails winding through the Wasatch Mountain State Park and the connecting Wasatch Uinta National Forest. You can also take the trail down to the nearby Cascade Springs nature area. Unguided rentals give you the opportunity to go at your own pace and stop wherever you would like to. But that means you are responsible for navigating the trail system yourself which can be poorly marked and confusing. Trail conditions vary so unguided renters are to use their better judgement. Our vehicles are not street legal since we are located at the trailhead.

Start your ATV adventure here at Little Sahara Recreation Area in Utah with beautiful sand mountain and rolling hills of sand that extend for miles.  Each time you visit will be a new experience on another trail that will leave you in wonder.  We provide the best power sport ATV and RZR rentals at this state park where you can rent for as many days as you want.  Delivery services and ATV tours are available!  Try our new sandboard and sand sled rentals and lessons.

One of the most popular ATV destinations in Utah

This beautiful area around Sand Mountain ultimately creating a 124-square-mile system of giant, free-moving, sand dunes that are fully maintained and have all the basic necessities to enjoy an outdoor adventure for days.  Interesting to know that the dunes are still moving to the north and east between 5 and 9 feet per year.

Rockwell when It’s Time to Relax and Take A Break

Preserve the natural beauty and enhance the hiking, camping, birding and other moto sport recreational opportunities found in Rockwell by keeping these OHV vehicles outside the boundaries of the natural area.

Explore Sand Mountain, A wall of sand climbing nearly 700 feet high provides the ultimate fun for any ATV machine.  This is the most popular area of Little Sahara.

The White Sands Dunes are easy access to dunes and endless riding bowls to attract riders of all abilities to this area which is on the north end of the recreation area.

Dunes southwest of Black Mountain are the low-lying dunes provide good terrain for beginners or for those who just want to get away from the busyness.

Try Black Mountain riding area which is a network of dirt trails up, over, and around this peak offer excellent trail riding for just about any kind of ATV, motocross dirt bike or sand buggy.

If Your Looking For Camping

White Sands campsites nestled among the juniper and immediate access to dunes makes this a popular destination.  Enjoy the 99 campsites, flush toilets, drinking water, fenced play area for the kids.

Oasis which is the most developed site in the recreation area. Paved pads for trailers and motor homes combined with ready access to the dunes makes this a popular site with families. 114 campsites, flush toilets (vault in winter), RV dump station, drinking water.

Jericho campsite designed as a fenced picnic area, Jericho serves as an overflow camping area. Good area for large groups. Paved parking access road, 41 picnic tables with shade ramadas, flush toilets, drinking water, amphitheater, fenced sand play area.

Sand Mountain: Primitive camping/staging area.  This place really busy during popular holiday weekends. The are 3 paved parking loops, vault toilets, drinking water, tent spaces.

Dispersed camping is permitted throughout the Little Sahara Recreation Area and State Park. Please follow “Leave No Trace” camping techniques to preserve the beauty of the area.

World’s Largest Sandboxes

Two of the world’s largest sandboxes have been set aside, adjacent to the White Sands Campground and Jericho Picnic Area.  Each of the play areas covers several acres, and each is fenced to provide a clean, safe haven for children.

How to Get Here

The entrance road to Little Sahara is 4 miles west of Jericho Junction. From Nephi (west): 31 miles via SR 132 and Juab County Route 1812. From Eureka (south): 18 miles on US 6. From Delta (north): 34 miles on US 6. Little Sahara is approximately 115 miles from Salt Lake City going south.
