Team India Full Cricket Schedule Till IPL 2025 After Changes Announced By BCCI

T he Indian cricket team will begin a long cricket season both home and away in the lead up to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a few changes in India's home schedule beginning with their series against Bangladesh from next month.

The first change in the schedule is announcement of new venue for the first T20I against Bangladesh on October 6 from Dharamsala to Gwalior. The change has been made due to upgrades and renovation work being carried out by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) in the dressing room.

This will be the first match taking place at Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium since Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar became the first male cricketer to score a double century in ODIs. The second change is the swap of venues for the first and second T20Is against England, taking place in Kolkata and Chennai, respectively, in January 2025.

"The first T20I between India and Bangladesh, initially set to be held in Dharamsala on 6th October 2024, will now take place in Gwalior owing to upgrades and renovation work being carried out by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in the dressing rooms," BCCI said in a statement.

"The match in Gwalior marks the inaugural international fixture at the city's new stadium Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium and the first since the historic India-South Africa ODI in 2010, where the legendary Sachin Tendulkar became the first male cricketer to score a double century in ODIs," the statement added.

While confirming the swap in venue for the England series, BCCI confirmed that there won't be a change in the dates of both games. "The Board further announces a swap in the venues of the first and second T20Is against England. Chennai, originally scheduled to host the first T20I will now host the second while Kolkata will host the opening T20I instead of the second, as announced earlier. The dates for the first T20I (22nd January 2025) and the second T20I (25th January 2025) remain the same. The venue change was necessitated following a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal regarding their prior Republic Day commitments and obligations," BCCI confirmed in the statement.

India's 2024-25 home international season will begin with two Tests and three T20Is against Bangladesh. The series will be played from September 19 to October 12. After the conclusion of the series, New Zealand will visit for three Test matches from October 16 to November 5.

India will play against England in five T20Is and three ODIIs from January 22 to February 12. Before the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the ODIs against the Three Lions are India's only scheduled 50-over games.

India will face New Zealand in two Tests, with the first Test starting on October 16 in Bengaluru and the second on November 1 in Pune. Following the two Tests against the Kiwis, India's foreign tour will commence. They will play four T20s in South Africa, with games scheduled in Durban, Gayaberkha, Centurion, and Johannesburg. IND vs SA T20I series will begin on November 8, with the second match on November 18. The third and final T20s are set for November 13 and 15, respectively.

Following India's tour of South Africa, the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin, with Team India touring Australia. The Border-Gavaskar Test series will start with the first Test in Perth on November 22. The second Test will be held in Adelaide from December 6, the third in Brisbane from December 14, and the fourth in Melbourne from December 26. The final Test of the series between India and Australia is scheduled to take place in Sydney, starting January 3.

After returning home from their tour of Australia, India will play a white-ball series against England before ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

  • Australia will be touring Scotland and England for white ball series

Speedster Spencer Johnson has been ruled out of Australia's tour to Scotland and England after he sustained a side strain. The Australian bowler suffered the injury while representing The Oval Invincibles in The Hundred. All-rounder Sean Abbott, who was already named in Australia's ODI squad for the tour of Scotland and England, will replace Johnson in the T20 touring party. Johnson, who has played five T20Is since his international debut last year, is expected to miss the remainder of The Hundred. The 28-year-old managed to bowl just five deliveries during last week's win over the London Spirit at the Oval.

Sean Abbott replaces Spencer Johnson

After turning heads in the Big Bash and The Hundred, the Australian was snapped up by the Gujarat Titans during last year's IPL auction.

Last month, Cricket Australia announced that bowlers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, alongside all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, were rested for the T20I leg of the United Kingdom tour, which will kickstart from September 4.

While Starc has been given a break from the shortest format of the game against Scotland and England, he will be available for the ODIs. Pat Cummins, on the other hand, will not be participating in the entire tour. Josh Hazlewood has been included in both the T20I and ODI squads.

Sean Abbott, who has played 15 T20Is for Australia, has been somewhat unfortunate not to have represented his country more often in the format.

Abbott boasts of an impressive record in the Big Bash League, with a staggering 165 wickets to his name, making him the leading wicket-taker in the tournament's history. Additionally, he has showcased his skills in 'The Hundred', claiming nine wickets in seven appearances for Birmingham Phoenix

The Australian men’s cricket team will miss the services of fast bowler Spencer Johnson for the 2024 T20 series against England and Scotland in September. All-rounder Sean Abbott has been named as his replacement for the tour.

Johnson suffered a side strain while playing for The Ovals Invincibles in The Hundred tournament in England. The 28-year-old, who has played only five T20 matches for Australia, has had to return home for further assessment and rehabilitation.

The injury has ruled him out of the tour of England and Scotland which is set to start on September 4. Australia will play three T20s against Scotland in Edinburgh before moving to England for another three T20 matches. They will also play five ODIs against the home side.

Sean Abbott, Johnson’s replacement on the tour, possesses more international experience. The 32-year-old has played 15 T20 matches for Australia and has taken 15 wickets at an average of 26.60 and an economy rate of 9.10.

Mitchell Marsh will lead both white-ball squads on this tour. Regular ODI captain Pat Cummins has been rested as Australia will begin another busy spell in November. They will face Pakistan and India on their tour of the subcontinent to close out the year.
