The entire “Curry Tour” collection will be available on UnderArmour.com on September 13th, 2024 in limited quantities. In the Asia Pacifici region, the Curry 12 will be available on September 11th, while the other three models are currently available now.

Stephen Curry's New Sneaker Collection Celebrates China Tour

A fter an incredible showing at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Stephen Curry has forever solidified his name as one of the greatest basketball players ever. Before the Golden State Warriors point guard starts another NBA season, he is embarking on another international tour.

As Curry Brand President, Curry is keeping it global, touring four cities in China from September 10-16. He will be joined by Curry Brand signature athlete and Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox .

To commemorate the global tour, Curry Brand is releasing four new sneakers that basketball players and sneaker lovers will be looking to add to their collections.

Inspired by Pangu, who is credited with creating Earth (Yin) and heaven (Yang) in Chinese mythology, the colorways for each show represent “the balance of the universe and honor the mythical titan in Chinese culture who created the world as we know it.”

The Curry 12 ‘Curry Tour’ comes in cosmic cotton candy, with a splash of light purple on the upper, a bubble gum pink sole, and a dark purple heel counter. The superior grip and traction of the UA Flow outsole are perfect for making cuts and precise movements like “Chef Curry” does on the hardwood.

A hot pink accent on the Curry Brand logo symbolizes Pangu’s separation of heaven and Earth and the TPU side wall swirls Equipped with pink and light purple striped laces, the sneaker features the improved dual-density UA Flow cushions at the bottom of the shoe.

Continuing the cosmic theme of the collection the Curry 4 FloTro ‘Curry Tour’, Curry 6 FloTro ‘Curry Tour’, and Curry 1 Flotro ‘Curry Tour’, each have their own purple shades and distinct accent designs that pay tribute to Chinese deity’s creation of the universe.

The “Curry Tour” collection will be available in limited quantities in North America starting on September 13 and there will also be Pangu-themed apparel available to pair with the sneakers.

The Curry 4, 6, and 1 are currently available for purchase in the IAPAC region, with the Curry 12 “Curry Tour” officially releasing on September 11. Stay locked into Sports Illustrated's Kicks On SI for all your sneaker news from the NBA and beyond.

How Stephen Curry's Underrated Golf is opening doors

Second-year golf tour is assisting junior players who might not otherwise have access to regional and national tournaments.

Underrated Tour

When NBA star Stephen Curry was a high school basketball player in Charlotte, North Carolina, he called himself "a skinny, scrawny kid ... a late bloomer" in a 2022 Charlotte Observer interview. Neither of the state’s blue-blood college programs, Duke or North Carolina, gave him the time of day.

Why would they? He was a 5-foot-9, 150-pound guard playing at a private school, with only a connection to a NBA veteran father, Dell Curry.

What has played out since Curry graduated from Charlotte Christian in 2006, through an emergence as a force at next-door Davidson College and as the NBA’s top shooter evokes thoughts of pursuing dreams no matter the odds, both for his main sport, basketball, and his off-court passion, golf.

A similar level of ascension can be envisioned for Jaden Soong, a 13-year-old golfer from Burbank, California. The rising eighth grader is small in stature — 5-foot-2 and 115 pounds — but his golf game has proven large as he can mash drives in the 280-yard range. In early June, Soong became the youngest player to reach the final round of U.S. Open qualifying, missing out on becoming the youngest player to ever reach golf’s U.S. national championship during that final phase.

"I definitely have to go out there and prove that I have game because when you play with bigger kids maybe they don’t respect you as much," Soong says. "They expect to beat you. But in golf, it’s not your size that matters as much. It’s not like football or basketball, but how sharp you are mentally to get ahead of them."

Soong is part of Curry’s effort to bring golf competition to boys and girls age 12-18. Curry started the Underrated Tour in 2019 as a basketball showcase for players who might not have otherwise been scouted by college coaches, just like him. Last year, Curry launched Underrated Golf with a focus on providing equity, access and opportunity to young golfers by paying their way to national events during the summer and exposing them to top courses and college coaches when they otherwise may not have the resources to travel the very expensive national junior circuit.

 Jaden Soong — Nicole Sardinha

In late June, Soong flew from California to play in Florida for the first time. He shot 66-73 to win the first event of the 2023 Underrated Golf season by one stroke at The Park, a newly renovated West Palm Beach municipal course. On the girls’ side, Nicole Sardinha of Doral, Florida, shot 72-70 to win by two.

The field for the season debut was welcomed by DJ Khaled, a renowned recording executive, producer and rapper — and golf nut — alongside Seth Curry, Steph’s younger brother who is also an NBA veteran and golf enthusiast. Scores ranged from 65 to 98 on a course that stretched beyond 6,700 yards. Each player was able to choose their walk-up song on the first tee, with Soong choosing Tupac Shakur’s "California Love." Steph Curry FaceTimed the winners after their rounds and encouraged them "to keep working hard."

"When you’re around greatness, that greatness rubs off on you," said Khaled in a pep talk to the young golfers. "Our job is to be around greatness at all times. This positive energy, this group right here, if I’m around this all day, I’m gonna be a plus-two (handicap)."

Aside from being basketball's greatest long-range shooter, Curry is also being recognized this summer as golf's top long-range planner.

Last week, Curry and NBA basketball’s Golden State Warriors teammate Klay Thompson faced the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey in the next televised bro-fest, The Match. This Saturday, at the conclusion of the second Underrated Tour event at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, Curry will be honored by the PGA Tour as the 2023 Ambassador of Golf during an evening banquet at the same location. On July 21, "Stephen Curry: Underrated," a documentary film, debuts in theaters and on Apple TV.

Curry’s latest foray into golf follows an investment in college golf. In August 2019, Curry guaranteed full funding of Howard University’s men's and women's golf teams for six years as the school added NCAA Division I teams for the 2020–21 school year. Howard’s men have dominated the PGA Works Championship, a season-ending event for HBCUs. The Washington, D.C., school produced the medalist in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and won the team titles each of the last two years. Howard’s men barely missed making the NCAA Tournament in early May, finishing five strokes behind champion Long Island University in the Northeast Conference tournament.

The tour features four regional events with boys and girls fields of 96 players, made up of exempt competitors and those who qualify regionally. There are separate competitions among the boys and girls, but no age groups. Tees are varied by age brackets (12-14 and 15-18).

In addition to stops in West Palm Beach and Akron, Underrated Golf will also visit Paiute Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Chambers Bay, the 2015 U.S. Open site, outside of Seattle, Washington. The Curry Cup, a season-ending tour championship, is slated for Aug. 20-23 at Lake Merced in San Francisco, California. The finale brings together the top 12 point earners in both the boys and girls sides.

“While golf has always been a passion of mine, I can’t turn a blind eye to the major inequities that exist in the sport amongst underrepresented individuals,” said Curry upon being named the Ambassador of Golf recipient. “I believe that golf, unlike any other sport, offers a very powerful vehicle to positively shape and impact an individual’s social and professional career across their lifetime. It is my hope that through this exciting endeavor, we can create a brighter and sustainable future for these young prospects.”

DJ Khaled — Underrated Tour

The game changer is that all expenses are paid to attract those who can't afford entry fees and national travel for larger junior golf competition. It’s a benefit that became available with recent relaxing of amateur status guidelines by the USGA.

Will Lowery, a former professional golfer, current golf media influencer and Charlotte native, is the social media presence and organizer behind his friend’s Underrated idea. Lowery grew up in inner-city Charlotte playing public courses and was always eyeballing ways to break into the sport more easily. He and Curry are a similar age — Lowery is 38, Curry 35 — and brainstormed on how to make this type of pathway a reality.

All travel, entry fees and accommodations are covered, participants’ sport golf bags, travel bags and shirts and hats feature the Underrated logo. Each participant can have one parents’ expenses covered also, Soong said. Much of that is due to KPMG’s sponsorship, announced earlier this year and piggybacking off the global professional service firm’s nine-year sponsorship of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

“It’s hard to play good golf when you know your parents are sacrificing a bill to get you there,” says Lowery, who selects many of the invitees.

“The silver lining is seeing kids being noticed by college coaches,” Lowery says. “I get calls all the time now from coaches asking about this young man or this young lady. When their names are being noticed that means we’re doing something right.

“We still have a way to go. At an introduction to golf, 17 percent of black and brown kids participate in the game of golf in some capacity. But we’ve got to get them further in the competition space. In the high-level junior golf space, there’s only 2 percent. In college, it’s less than 1 percent. Hopefully, we can serve as a feeder system, increase the participation rate in golf and open the eyes of kids in the career space.”

The 2022 winners during the inaugural season displayed those wares. Roman Solomon, a junior at the IMG Academy in Sarasota, Florida, is the son of former major-league baseball player Bobby Bonilla and is eyeing college opportunities as he plays junior events. Ashley Shaw, a 13-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona, won the girls division in 2022 and is playing national junior events this year. Jaxson Kenzo, a Santa Monica, California, resident, lost to Solomon in a playoff at the 2022 finale and is in the PGA Golf Management program at New Mexico State.

It’s the beginning of an opportunity to prove themselves, just like Curry accomplished a decade ago.

Team USA basketball: Paris Olympics will be a first for LeBron, Curry and Durant

Evan Cohen and the "Unsportsmanlike" crew discuss how the friendship between LeBron James and Steph Curry could lead to some future moves in the NBA. (1:32)

stephen curry tour

The first partnership between LeBron James and Stephen Curry in international play began with a phone call in the fall.

That's when, as Curry recalled, the two longtime NBA rivals spoke about the possibility of teaming up at the 2024 Paris Olympics and joining forces on arguably the greatest collection of talent in basketball history.

"He was the first person I talked to," Curry said Sunday afternoon of his conversation with James. "'Would this be something I would want to do?' And from there it was like, 'Let's get it.'"

For all that Curry, James and fellow future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant have achieved in their careers, they have yet to play together for Team USA. Curry played with Durant during gold medal runs in the 2010 and 2014 World Championships. James and Durant, meanwhile, won gold at the 2012 London Olympics.

But this summer, the trio of superstars, now deep into their 30s, will take the floor together in international play for the first time. But don't call it a "last hurrah."

"Nah," Durant told ESPN with a smile, when asked if that was how he viewed finally pairing up with both James and Curry on this team. "These guys are still playing at an elite level. I feel like Bron could play 4 or 5 more and be here in 2028 in [the Los Angeles Olympics]. Steph's still playing great ball. I'm doing all right, too.

"I don't want this to be a farewell tour or make it just about us three. It's about trying to win this fifth in a row."

Heading into Wednesday's Olympics tuneup against Canada in Las Vegas (10:30 p.m. ET), Team USA is a heavy favorite to win that fifth straight gold medal -- in part because of the presence of the NBA's three biggest American stars. Durant can become the first man to claim four Olympic basketball gold medals, having been part of the past three winning Olympic teams. James, his 40th birthday on the horizon, can add a third gold medal to an already impressive international résumé.

And then there's Curry, who, after 15 seasons in the NBA, is preparing for his Olympic debut.

"Yeah, it's really cool," Curry said. "I've played with Team USA before on the world championship stage, but I don't know what to expect when it comes to this challenge and this experience. And so I had the first-practice jitters. I'm sure I'll have it for the game [Wednesday] just because I know it means so much. ...

"Add the surrealness of who is on this team and all the battles that we've had over the course of our careers and the fact that we get to put that energy together as teammates. So I'm enjoying every minute of this."

A sense of awe has permeated throughout the first few days of Team USA training camp. Past Olympic rosters have boasted plenty of talent, but there's a reason this group has been compared -- at times favorably -- to the fabled 1992 Dream Team .

"Do you see this team?" center Bam Adebayo , playing in his second Olympics after winning gold at the 2020 Tokyo Games, said Sunday. "When you put [together] a team like this, and you get compared to, like, the Dream Team, it kind of puts it in perspective how great this team can be if we play the right way."

"We got LeBron, KD and Steph," Team USA first-timer Anthony Edwards said. "So I don't feel like nobody can beat those three by themselves on the court.

"So I mean, you mix in two of us regular guys, we'll be all right."

It has been striking to see Curry and James finally sharing the court for Team USA after their historic playoff battles: four straight NBA Finals showdowns from 2015 to 2018 and again in the 2023 Western Conference semifinals, where James' Los Angeles Lakers knocked out Curry and the defending champion Golden State Warriors .

"It was like a healthy resentment of somebody that's standing in your way," Curry said of his playoff battles against James. "But through it all, there's obviously the utmost respect for who he is as a person and player and like how good he is and the challenge of trying to beat him and trying to solve that problem every year."

Added James: "I know how much he loves to win and how much he loves to be in competition. We've always had like these short moments like either All-Star Games or whatever the case may be, where we had these short pockets of time together and it's been super organic and easy."

Curry, James and Durant have spent much of the past two decades fighting against one another for NBA supremacy. For the next six weeks, they'll play side by side and try to enjoy the process of the trio's first -- and possibly only -- Olympic run together on the international stage.

"I can't speak for those two guys, but for me it's going to be ecstatic excitement, a humbling wow factor," James told ESPN. "The last 15, 17, 18 years, myself, Steph, KD, have been the talk of the NBA. ...

"We don't know how many more opportunities we're going to have to even play the game. So to be able to have this moment at this point in our careers is just super special."

Curry's golf milestone: Is he the most versatile athlete of our generation?

Stephen Curry takes a giant stride in the golfing realm! It’s a well-known fact by now that the Warriors superstar has a tender spot for golf. And, he didn’t only stop at playing the sport but also gave access to the next generation. Moreover, there’s no better time than the offseason for the busy NBA legend to personally open the doors to the bright future of the sport. Above all, after a successful campaign in the 2023 off-season, the Underrated Golf Tour is all set to reach an important landmark.

The Underrated Golf Tour’s official X handle dropped a video of Stephen Curry’s conversation with Gary Williams, a popular sports podcaster. They discussed the superstar, entering the New York City scenes this year. Last season, the superstar organized the junior tour in the Bay Area and had a successful campaign. “Just the wide net we’ve been able to cast in Junior golf. This season being able to plant our flag in the UK, going across the pond, and having our first Underrated golf tour event there,” the Warrior said.

Speaking of the major leap toward the Big Apple, the superstar continued, “ Having the Curry Cup here in the East Coast, a brand new market for us. Obviously, a lot of great energy around the tour. A lot of great talent. A lot of great support from our partners, who believe in our vision, our leadership. Being in a space service these kids at a very high level “

As per his latest Instagram post, the third edition of Curry Cup went underway with 26 young talents facing each other at the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey. That brings us to the next question, in all you hoops fans’ heads.

How does the Underrated Golf Tour work?

The basic essence behind organizing this golfing event is to  “provide a positive, competitive, safe space environment for culturally diverse male and female junior golfers.”  So before they reach the late end of the NBA off-season, the Underrated Golf Tour conducts various regional events across the country throughout. Notably, one of the events went overseas and was played in the UK.

Have an interesting take.

Moreover, all these events will culminate in a showdown, the Curry Cup. The top 24 boys and girls from the tour advance to the championship round conducted in New Jersey (This year). In the last off-season, Stephen Curry had almost dedicated all his time to golf. Apart from conducting the junior golf tour, he also participated in the celebrity golf tournament. And ultimately won it. Importantly, he also stunned everyone with a special hole-in-one swing in the tournament.

However, this season, Steph couldn’t participate in the celebrity tournament, as he was caught up with national duty. The   Baby-faced Assassin  traveled to Paris with fellow Team USA superstars and competed at the 2024 Olympics. They not only just participated but also won the Gold medal with sheer dominance. Anyway, fans could witness more of Steph’s golfing action in the 2025 off-season.

First look at De'Aaron's new ‘Curry Fox 1' signature shoe

First look at De'Aaron's new ‘Curry Fox 1' signature shoe originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

De’Aaron Fox is set to take the floor in style sometime this season.

The deal involving the Kings star guard, Under Armour and Warriors superstar Stephen Curry first was announced in October 2023, making Fox the first NBA player to sign with Curry Brand.

Almost a year later, Sneaker News ’ exclusive first look at the Curry Fox 1 showcases the low-cut shoe slated to be officially released later this year.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: FIRST LOOK at the Curry Fox 1 🦊 The first Curry Brand signature athlete @swipathefox will releasing his first shoe later this year. pic.twitter.com/956nVSNoTv — Sneaker News (@SneakerNews) September 9, 2024

Most noticeable in the first-look photos is the signature shoe’s distinct symbol. Printed on the shoe’s tongue, the symbol resembles the letter D in the form of a fox curled up into a ball.

Additionally, the Golden State guard’s last name appears on the lace tips, while Curry’s own logo appears on the shoe’s toe box.

The shoe, which also features a mid-foot strap, is expected to be worn by the All-Star and former Clutch Player of the Year during the 2024-25 NBA season.

While Under Armour awaits to share further details surrounding the Curry Fox 1, Fox and Curry, known as bona fide leaders of their respective teams, are embarking on a tour in China with Curry Brand later this month.

It’s likely that they'll reveal more details surrounding the signature shoe then.

Senate leaders ask FTC to investigate AI content summaries as anti-competitive

A group of Democratic senators is urging the FTC and Justice Department to investigate whether AI tools that summarize and regurgitate online content like news and recipes may amount to anti-competitive practices. In a letter to the agencies, the senators, led by Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), explained their position that the latest AI features are hitting creators and publishers while they're down. While a traditional search result or news feed links may lead users to the publisher’s website, an AI-generated summary keeps the users on the original search platform, where that platform alone can profit from the user’s attention through advertising and data collection.

Stephen Curry to be named 2023 Ambassador of Golf

AKRON, Ohio – Today the Kaulig Companies Championship, PGA TOUR Champions and Northern Ohio Golf Charities Foundation announced that NBA champion Stephen Curry will be named the 2023 recipient of the Ambassador of Golf Award. Curry will be recognized the evening of Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the Ambassador of Golf event, presented by the FirstEnergy Foundation, at Firestone Country Club. The award – which benefits the Northern Ohio Golf Charities Foundation – honors a person who has fostered the ideals of the game on an international level and whose concerns for others extends beyond the golf course.

In addition to Curry being named the 2023 Ambassador of Golf, PGA TOUR Champions has partnered with UNDERRATED Golf to host an event at Firestone Country Club featuring 96 junior golfers that includes 48 boys and 48 girls ages 12 to 18 from across the country. This event will be hosted from Thursday, July 6 through Saturday, July 8, 2023 on the South Course at Firestone Country Club – the same course where the Kaulig Companies Championship will be contested the following week.

“While golf has always been a passion of mine, I can’t turn a blind eye to the major inequities that exist in the sport amongst underrepresented individuals,” said Stephen Curry. “With UNDERRATED Golf, we want to provide unparalleled opportunities and learnings to individuals who may not normally have access to the sport. I believe that golf, unlike any other sport, offers a very powerful vehicle to positively shape and impact an individual’s social and professional career across their lifetime. It is my hope that through this exciting endeavor, we can create a brighter and sustainable future for these young prospects.”

“Stephen Curry using his platform as a global icon and one of the NBA’s all-time greats to help make the game of golf more diverse and welcoming to all is truly remarkable,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan. “Through UNDERRATED Golf, he has helped make huge strides in bridging the gap, providing access and opportunity to underserved communities. These efforts – along with his support of the neighboring Memorial Tournament presented by Workday – make him the ideal 2023 Ambassador of Golf. On behalf of the PGA TOUR, we are elated to honor him with this distinction at next year’s Kaulig Companies Championship.”

The UNDERRATED Tour started in 2019 as a basketball showcase event for players who might not have otherwise been scouted by college coaches. The Tour is open to players who were ranked as three-star recruits or lower, like Curry. In 2021, Curry launched UNDERRATED Golf, a purpose-driven business endeavor with the overarching commitment to provide equity, access and opportunity to student-athletes from every community by balancing participation in the sport to truly reflect our society.

The inspiring movement joined the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) in efforts to address the sports’ lack of diversity. The UNDERRATED Tour is built upon three key pillars – equity: the quality of being just and fair; access: the ability, right or permission to enter; and opportunity: a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something. The UNDERRATED Tour utilizes golf as a platform to offer young, overlooked golfers special programming experiences, including an ongoing speaker series and networking events with brands and corporations, allowing them to understand what it means to make connections and build successful careers.

In its inaugural year, the UNDERRATED Tour held four tournaments, beginning in Chicago and concluding with the best 24 boys and girls competing for the Curry Cup in the Tour’s season-ending championship tournament in San Francisco in late August of 2021.

An avid golfer himself, Curry teamed up with Howard University in August 2019 to announce that the school would add NCAA Division I teams in men's and women's golf starting in the 2020–21 school year, with Curry guaranteeing full funding of both teams for six years, ultimately helping Howard golf regain its status as a Division I competitor.

The NBA superstar also paired up with NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning in November 2020 for The Match: Champions for Change, a charity event against NBA Hall of Fame forward Charles Barkley and Phil Mickelson that raised money for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

Curry’s additional charitable efforts continue to make a lasting impact. In 2012, Curry started donating three insecticide-treated mosquito nets for every three-pointer he made to the United Nations Foundation's Nothing But Nets campaign to combat malaria, after being introduced to the cause by a former college teammate. In July 2019, Stephen and his wife Ayesha launched their Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation. The non- profit was created to focus on improving the lives of kids and families in Oakland, the Bay Area and across the country. Rooted in three of the most vital pillars for a healthy childhood—nutrition, education and physical activity – Eat. Learn. Play. is working to ensure that every child in Oakland has access to the nutritious food they need to be healthy and thrive; is equipped with the resources to foster a love for learning and reading; and is provided safe places and equitable opportunities to play.

Away from the court, he continues to use his influence to support and further foster growth with initiatives and organizations such as GoodSports, Positive Coaching Alliance, Charity Bounce, Oakland Parks, Recreation & Youth Development and Oakland Athletic League.

The Charlotte, North Carolina native was selected by the Golden State Warriors with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft out of Davidson College. Since joining the NBA, he has been selected to eight All-NBA Teams and voted league MVP twice.

Born in Akron, Ohio, while his father, Dell Curry, played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Curry went on to earn his bachelor's degree in sociology in May 2022 from Davidson, after opting out of his senior year in 2009. He became the first Davidson player to have his number retired at a ceremony held in August 2022 where he also entered the Wildcats athletic hall of fame and physically received his diploma. Curry married his long-time girlfriend and Toronto-area native, Ayesha, in 2011. The couple share three children – Riley, Ryan and Canon.

Curry joins an illustrious list of Ambassador of Golf Award winners: 1981 Chi Chi Rodriguez; 1982 Bing Crosby; 1983 Byron Nelson; 1984 Gene Sarazen; 1985 President Gerald Ford; 1986 Bob Hope; 1987 Dinah Shore; 1988 Joe Dey; 1989 Frank Chirkinian; 1990 Barbara Nicklaus; 1991 Arnold Palmer; 1992 Nancy Lopez; 1993 Roberto De Vicenzo; 1994 President George H.W.
