The track was inspired in part by historian Robert McFarlane and his work related to our spiritual connection to our environment

Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler have shared the new song “Footnotes On The Map,” the fourth song taken from their upcoming debut album.

“ There’s no fear without courage ,” Buckley sings on the new track, Butler and guest vocalist Sam Lee echoing her words back at her. “ A sense of what’s left behind or what’s to come/Just adrift in a moment/A float in the storm .” Their voices converge alongside the string section, marshaled by Sally Herbert.

“Footnotes On The Map” was partially inspired by the historian Robert McFarlane, who writes about the way walking reinforces our spiritual connection to the land around us. “In Aboriginal lore, there’s a belief that people mapped their immediate environment in song,” Butler said in a press release. “Each step was a note in a song that represented a journey. And that’s a hugely powerful idea.”

Footnotes On The Map

The track was recently performed live as Buckley and Butler made their debut appearance on Later… With Jools Holland . The duo also played their first live show last month at London’s Green Note, receiving rave reviews, including five stars from The Telegraph and the Evening Standard. Their next gig will take place at London’s Lafayette on June 17, which has already sold out. More dates will be announced soon.

The pair will release their debut joint album For All Our Days That Tear The Heart on June 17 via EMI Records. The record features songs about loss and longing (“Seven Red Rose Tattoos”), that take inspiration from seminal jazz-folk innovators Pentangle (“I’ve Got A Feeling,” “Sweet Child”), and a nod to both musicians’ Irish heritage (“20 Years A-Growing”).

“Right now, I feel like I’ll never make another album again,” Buckley said in a press release, “because I can’t imagine another album happening the way this one did. It’s amazing that it even happened once. This obscure, organic, odd little thing that just found us.”

Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler - For All Our Days That Tear The Heart review: Nuanced and sophisticated

Investing in an actor’s album is always a risky business. Vanity generally outweighs musical talent for those Hollywood types. But just as Jessie Buckley has consistently chosen interesting acting roles – she received an Oscar nomination this year for the Elena Ferrante adaptation The Lost Daughter , was on the West End stage until March in Cabaret , and can now be seen in the horror film Men – so her music is far more nuanced and sophisticated than something dashed off between takes in a trailer.

Anyone who saw her going from Scottish prison to the Nashville country scene in the 2018 film Wild Rose already knows she can sing. Here she generally maintains a muted power reminiscent of Laura Marling ’s refined voice, though she also hits some big notes when the music really swells in the later stages of Footnotes on the Map.

It’s the equal billing of Bernard Butler that makes it easy to take this album seriously before you’ve heard a note. He’s the 52-year-old guitarist who walked out of Suede at their mid-Nineties commercial peak and spent the subsequent years questing for something more substantial than a hit single, producing new bands and working with everyone from Bert Jansch to the Pet Shop Boys. Buckley, 20 years his junior, has admitted she didn’t know who he was when a mutual friend suggested they should work together, but they quickly bonded over roots in the same corner of Ireland.

In 2020 Butler collaborated with folk singer Sam Lee on the album Old Wow. Lee pops up here on backing vocals, and there’s a similar feel to this unhurried acoustic music, brought together in loose brushstrokes.

Beautiful Regret could be one of her country songs, building slowly as a guitar strum becomes more forceful. A droning violin, double bass and plucked guitar notes circle each other on 20 Years A-Growing, Buckley’s acrobatic voice holding focus over the wandering instrumentation. Seven Red Rose Tattoos has a jazzier feel, with Buckley, horns and piano sounding like they’re feeling their way towards the end of the song together.

The more dynamic sound of We’ve Run the Distance shows the pair’s versatility although it breaks the spell slightly. The maturity and subtlety of the album as a whole rewards concentration and is unlikely to see Buckley ending up ditching theatres for the arenas, but it could well find her adding a Mercury Prize nomination to her varied list of accolades.

It was previously known as Kuznetsk until 1931, and as Stalinsk until 1961.

Founded in 1618 by men from Tomsk as a Cossack ostrog (fort) on the Tom River , it was initially called Kuznetsky ostrog ( Кузне́цкий острог ). [2] It became the seat of Kuznetsky Uyezd in 1622. [3] Kuznetsk ( Кузне́цк ) was granted town status in 1689. [3] It was here that Fyodor Dostoevsky married his first wife, Maria Isayeva in 1857. [13] Joseph Stalin 's rapid industrialization of the Soviet Union transformed the sleepy town into a major coal mining and industrial center in the 1930s. It merged with Sad Gorod in 1931. From 1931 to 1932, the city was known as Novokuznetsk and between 1932 and 1961 as Stalinsk ( Ста́линск ), after Stalin. As a result of de-Stalinization , it was renamed back to Novokuznetsk .

  • Judicial institutions: district courts, courts of general jurisdiction, the Russian Agency for Legal and Judicial Information, the permanent judicial presence of the Kemerovo Oblast Court, judicial divisions of magistrates, and others. [18]

The Novokuznetsk City Council of People's Deputies is a representative body of power and consists of 18 deputies elected in 18 single-mandate constituencies and 18 deputies elected on party lists. The term of office of deputies is five years.

In September 2021, elections were held for the Council of People's Deputies, following which the seats in the council were distributed as follows: 27 - United Russia , 2 - Liberal Democratic Party , 2 - A Just Russia , 2 - Communist Party .
