Due to Overwhelming Demand Eagles Extend the “Hotel California” 2022 Tour Including Stop at T-Mobile Center

Aug 11 , 2022

Kansas City, Mo. (Aug. 11, 2022) – Due to overwhelming demand, the Eagles - Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, with Vince Gill – extends the “Hotel California” 2022 Tour in the U.S. with November shows including a stop at T-Mobile Center on Nov. 23.

Each concert will feature ‘Hotel California,’ performed live in its entirety from start to finish, accompanied by an orchestra and choir.  After a short intermission the band will perform a full set of their greatest hits. All shows will begin at 8 PM.

The Eagles kicked off the “Hotel California” concerts in 2019 in Las Vegas to rave reviews and critical acclaim. To date, the Eagles have performed more than 60 sold-out shows, including five nights at the famed Madison Square Garden in New York City, four nights at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, four nights at American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas, three concerts at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, three nights at the Forum in Los Angeles, and multiple nights in Austin, TX, Denver, CO, Nashville, TN, San Francisco, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Seattle, WA, and St. Paul, MN.

“From the title track — a 6 1/2-minute flamenco-reggae ballad— to the elegiac closer ‘The Last Resort,’ it’s consummately performed…”  - Los Angeles Times

“The band performed the album from front to back, following with a blazing greatest hits set that had the audience at the sold-out arena constantly on its feet…With no exception, the songs have aged well, but how could they fail with the Eagles’ five-part harmony and five guitar-approach… (Henley’s) voice sounded as strong and pliant as it ever has, easily hitting the highest of notes, while retaining his trademark huskiness.”  - Billboard

“By now the orchestra has been joined by a choir. The Eagles’ sound, with its glowing harmonies, barely needs them, but they add to the sense of occasion – and the delight of the crowd. I’ve never seen so many songs receive a standing ovation.”  - Daily Mail

“…the Eagles spent more than 2 hours and 40 minutes on stage performing most of the best-known songs in their oeuvre, their voices sounding as robust as they did half their lifetimes ago. And the show was all the best adjectives you can think of — exhilarating, breathtaking, stunning, magical, triumphant.”  - Charlotte Observer

“It was a soulful, technically brilliant concert, with state-of-the-art sound engineering, wonderful performances and beautiful visuals presented on a giant screen behind the musicians.”

-Buffalo News

And it was…sublime. Eagles have long had a knack for precise, recording-perfect performances, and playing “Hotel California” was perhaps the finest exposition of that. The sound mix was pristine, the vocal harmonies were rich…”  - Oakland Press

“Everyone in the arena seemed to leap to their feet and start applauding at once. For a split-second I actually felt my eyes start to mist up. It was just so overwhelming, the power of (Henley’s) voice, the beauty of the song, the majestic-ness of the symphony, the thickness of the nostalgia hanging in the air.”  - Charlotte Observer

“What made the “Hotel California” portion of Thursday’s set so stunning was just how airtight the Eagles sounded… The “Hotel California” portion of the set was near perfection – a tight, 50-minute showcase of musicality that would have been worth the price of admission alone. But the night was far from over.”  - Cleveland Plain Dealer

Hotel California is the third best-selling U.S. album in history, certified 26-times Platinum by the RIAA. After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and won two GRAMMY Awards for "New Kid in Town" and "Hotel California."  Several of the songs from the album have never been performed since the original “Hotel California” tour.  The band’s Their Greatest Hits 1971-1977 is the best-selling U.S. album in history, with the RIAA certifying the collection at 38-times Platinum.

In today’s faddish, fractured, rock landscape, the Eagles retain an appeal that transcends both generation and genre, cementing the band’s role as enduring musical icons. As the best-selling American band of the ’70s, and one of the top-selling acts of all time, the Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, scored six #1 albums and topped the singles charts five times. They have won six GRAMMY® Awards, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, in their first year of eligibility, and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.

Tickets for Eagles in Kansas City go on sale Friday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. at T-MobileCenter.com. For more information about Eagles and other upcoming events at T-Mobile Center visit here .

The Eagles Give Kansas City a Night of Nostalgia Journeying Through Decades of Hits

IN Kansas City Magazine

The year 2022 signifies two significant milestones for the Eagles : the 50th anniversary of their debut Eagles album and the 45th anniversary of their most successful album, the classic-rock mainstay Hotel California .

To commemorate that, the band announced a transcontinental tour—one that will continue well into 2023. On Thanksgiving Eve, the band checked into the T-Mobile Center , where, for three hours (including an intermission), they gave a full arena something to be thankful for: a nostalgic and euphoric voyage through nearly 30 songs.

The evening began ceremoniously: a blond woman in a dark gown emerged to cue up a copy of Hotel California on a turntable. Then came the unmistakable guitar intro to the album’s title track, and the Eagles appeared. They would play the entire album from start to finish, pausing once to ceremoniously flip the album from Side 1 to Side 2 after Wasted Time .

Only three members of the band remain from the recording of that album: Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit, and Joe Walsh. After the death of Glenn Frey in 2016, Vince Gill became a touring member of the band—adding more elite vocal and guitar firepower.

They and four other touring members, including guitar ace Steuart Smith, had no trouble re-creating, note-for-note, the sounds and moods of a lyrically dark and introspective album. Henley’s voice hasn’t changed much, and Gill seamlessly filled Frey’s vocal vacancy on New Kid in Town and other tracks.

Hotel California is the band’s blockbuster album, reaching sales into the 20 millions. But it’s not their most consistent. Some of the deeper cuts are ballads that—when performed live—lack the verve and inspiration of favorites like the title track Life In the Fast Lane and Victim of Love.

eagles tour kansas city 2022

But the Eagles wisely fortified some of those deep cuts with the help of a large ensemble of violinists, violists, cellists, and other string players, plus a 24-piece choir—all some of the best musicians and vocalists from the Kansas City metro whose contributions to the evening cannot be overstated. They transformed The Last Resort , the album’s finale, into a dynamic, transcendent anthem (think of Foreigner’s I Want to Know What Love Is .)

After the dust had settled from that gust of elation, Henley addressed the crowd. He apologized that the first set was short, but reminded everyone: Albums could only be about 40 minutes long back then. “And based on what I hear today,” he wisecracked, “they should be even shorter.” Then: “Forgive me; I’m a bitter old man.”

He then introduced and praised the string orchestra for its contributions: We could have re-created those sounds synthetically, he said, but “nothing replaces the sound of wood instruments.” Amen.

Everyone would leave the stage for a 20-minute intermission, then the Eagles returned for a whirlwind two-hour set of greatest hits, starting with a stunning rendition of Seven Bridges Road. The band’s multi-part vocal harmonies sparkled all night, but these were impeccable.

For the next song, Deacon Frey joined the band, son of Glenn, who was a full-time member for the previous tour but a guest this evening. The only thing stronger than the physical resemblance between father and son is the vocal resemblance. He stayed for two songs, both timeless: Take It Easy and Peaceful, Easy Feeling .

And from then on, the crowd, its attentiveness and its reactions were full-throttle. The orchestra returned to elevate Take It to the Limit into the stratosphere. Gill’s lead vocals were stirring, and the crowd sing-along was loud and joyous.

Witchy Woman was given a slower, grittier bluesy vibe, and Walsh’s guitar solo was feverish. Gill commanded lead vocals on two more Frey classics: Lyin’ Eyes and Tequila Sunrise. Then Walsh took over. He announced proudly that he’d turned 75 two days before, that he was from “across the river, Wichita.” After a few one-liners and goofy crowd-participation exercises, he led the house into the novel, auto-biographical travelogue Life’s Been Good to Me .

Henley, who jumped from drums/percussion to guitar throughout the show, then delivered one of his own hits, Boys of Summer , and the line “you can never look back” felt a bit ironic. That was the point of the entire evening.

The set ended with Walsh’s extra-jammy version of the James Gang’s Funk #49 , then a rousing, up-with-people, clap-along, sing-along rendition of Heartache Tonight.

But 14 greatest hits wouldn’t nearly be enough. There would be more looking back: a four-song encore that opened with Rocky Mountain Way . Then, with the orchestra behind him, Henley reprised a version of Desperado that everyone there will always remember—at least the several thousand who sang along and, on cue, roared back the song’s signature “let somebody love you.”

eagles tour kansas city 2022

Deacon Frey returned to take lead on Already Gone , which featured some zesty dueling solos between Gill and Walsh. They closed with Best of My Love , during which the large video screens broadcast slow-dancing or embracing couples in the crowd. After that, the band with Frey, lined up, some with arms around another’s shoulder, and took a bow.

The Eagles have been somewhat infamous for a stage presence that always seemed arid, aloof, and detached: a little conversation with the audience and weak connection among band members. This night, things were different. It wasn’t a deep-warm Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers vibe, but it was adjacent to it. Perhaps there was a reason for that.

Before the final song, Henley addressed the crowd again, thanking everyone for all the support they’d received over the past 50 years. This was something like their 16th or 17th concert in Kansas City, going back to their first, at Municipal Auditorium in June 1972, for the Eagles tour. He, like Walsh and Schmit, is 75, so when he implied that this could be their last show here, you could feel and infer the sentiment and sincere gratitude in his voice.

If that turns out to be so—this was their farewell to Kansas City—they can all walk away satisfied, knowing they performed as it could be.

Hotel California, New Kid in Town, Life in the Fast Lane, Wasted Time, Wasted Time (Reprise), Victim of Love, Pretty Maids All in a Row, Try and Love Again, and The Last Resort. Intermission. The Eagles Profile

The Eagles are a classic rock band who have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide while producing five #1 singles and six Grammy Awards. Their 3x Platinum two-disc compilation album ‘The Very Best Of” was released in 2003 and spent a total of 62 weeks on Billboard 200 chart. They are arguably known most for their single “Hotel California”.

2020 was the first Eagles tour since the death of lead singer Glenn Frey. Filling in on vocals for the tour are Glenn’s son, Deacon Frey, and Vince Gill. Most shows had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. That tour was rescheduled for 2021 and then eventually for 2022.

The Eagles announced their final farewell tour in 2023, where they will perform the entirety of their Hotel California album, along with other Greatest Hits. The success of that tour led to The Eagles extending the dates into 2024. They also added a Las Vegas residency onto the end of the tour at the Sphere!

Confident Love Changed Career Fortunes at Eagles in 2022

You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Unless you’re Jordan Love.

With Aaron Rodgers out with COVID for a 2021 game at Kansas City, Love made his first NFL start. It was a disaster. The Packers lost 13-7. Their only third-down conversions and only points of the game came during the final possession. He went 7-of-18 when blitzed with a feeble 2.2 yards per attempt.

Fifty-five weeks later, Love changed his NFL fortunes.

With Rodgers knocked out of the game with injured ribs, Love came off the bench. In two series, he was 6-of-9 passing for 113 yards and one touchdown and led the Packers to 10 points. If not for one of the more embarrassing defensive performances in franchise history, Love might have been the hero of the game.

While the Packers lost 40-33 in his national reintroduction, Love’s 10-play cameo served as confirmation that all of his behind-the-scenes growth had him ready to replace Rodgers.

“There’s always nerves,” Love, who is getting ready to face the Eagles for a Week 1 showdown in Brazil, said after Sunday’s practice. “And I think every more when you’re a backup, the starter gets injured, you’re coming in, and the starter is Aaron Rodgers, too.

“So, there’s definitely nerves, and you just want to go out there and perform your best — perform your best for the guys around you. And it’s tough. You don’t get those reps throughout the week (that) the starter gets, so this might be your first time running some of these plays. And that’s how it was for me in the Eagles game – my first time running some of the plays we ran. But there’s always nerves, but even more (in that situation). Away environment, Philly’s a crazy stadium to play at. So, there was definitely a lot of nerves.”

There will be nerves on Friday night, as well.

It’s Week 1. Against a fellow Super Bowl contender. An historic game. Primetime.

But Love has made 19 starts since that night in Philadelphia. Love, like Rodgers so many times before, dominated the Chicago Bears in a Week 1 statement. Most of the remainder of the first half of the season seemed to create more questions than answers, but Love delivered an emphatic statement during a dominant second half of the season. He thrived in pressure-packed games to rally the Packers into the playoffs, then demolished the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card round.

“Week 1 last year, there was a lot going on,” Love said. “It was my first year starting, there was so many question marks – surrounding me, surrounding the team. So, I definitely wanted to go out there and have a great performance (and) I think we did that.

“It’s a stressful situation, but I trusted myself and was confident in my ability and just treated it like another game for me. Had to really go back to my college days and my mindset for getting ready for gamedays and things like that, because it’s a been a long time where you’re not really processing, ‘OK, I’m starting this game off and taking the first snap.’ And being on the sideline kind of being able to see what the defense is doing while the starter’s out there, so it’s different. But, yeah, having that year under my belt makes it easier this year.”

At midseason last year, with the Packers in the middle of a losing streak fueled by his turnover-prone play, Love looked like a potential one-and-done quarterback. Now, he’s an NFL MVP favorite with the sixth-shortest odds to win the award at FanDuel Sportsbook .

With Love bursting onto the scene alongside a dynamic group of young pass-catching threats, the Packers have reason to be thinking big entering this season.

“I think a lot more confidence from the whole team,” he said. “Offensively, I feel like we’re at a really good point. We had a good training camp, and now we’re ready to start the season. So, I’m very excited about it, but I think definitely having more confidence under your belt, having more reps and just trusting yourself a lot more.”

Where Do Packers Rank in NFL.com’s Super Bowl Poll?

Bill huber | 0 minutes ago.

Can Jordan Love and Matt LaFleur lead the Packers back to Super Bowl glory in 2024?

  • Green Bay Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. – NFL.com gathered its 28 analysts for a series of 2024 NFL season projections.

Who will Super Bowl LIX? And why might it be the Green Bay Packers?

The Kansas City Chiefs were picked to three-peat by nine analysts. Three of those analysts predicted the Chiefs would beat the Packers. In a neat historical twist, the last team to three-peat was Vince Lombardi’s Glory Years Packers, who beat the Chiefs in Super Bowl I.

Five picked the San Francisco 49ers to get over the hump. Among those is former 49ers head coach and Packers assistant coach Steve Mariucci, who picked the Niners to finally get past the Chiefs.

“Meeting in this game for the third time in the last six seasons, the 49ers finally get it done by leaning on their veterans and executing in all three phases,” he wrote. “A more experienced Brock Purdy shows poise and sets himself up for a big payday when he leads the Niners to the mountaintop for the first time in three decades.”

The Packers finished third in the Super Bowl poll, with analysts Michael Baca, Jeremy Bergman and Kevin Patra predicting an end to Green Bay’s championship drought.

Bergman picked Jordan Love to beat Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.

Patra went with Love to topple the Houston Texans.

“It took Brett Favre five years as the starter in Green Bay to win a Super Bowl ring,” Patra wrote. “Three for Aaron Rodgers. Jordan Love bests both legends, lifting the Lombardi Trophy in his second year at the helm as he outduels C.J. Stroud in a Super Bowl shootout.”

The Baltimore Ravens are fourth in the poll, with Marc Ross predicting Lamar Jackson “will finally silence his critics” by “holding off a future Super Bowl champion in Jordan Love.”

A total of 11 teams received at least one vote to win this year’s Super Bowl.

In the NFC North , the Detroit Lions received 20 of the 28 first-place votes and the Packers received seven.

In the awards section , nobody picked Love to win NFL MVP. Matt LaFleur tied for fourth for NFL Coach of the Year.

Also at NFL.com , analytics expert Cynthia Frelund put together a model based on the last 12 seasons, then simulated each game 1 million times to create projected win totals for all 32 teams.

The Packers checked in at 9.8 wins, with a floor of 7.3 wins and a ceiling of 11.2 wins.

As she noted, that would be the sportsbook projection – FanDuel Sportsbook’s over/under for Green Bay is 9.5 wins .

“My model’s biggest question for the Packers: How long will it take for the defense to get comfortable in new coordinator Jeff Hafley's scheme?” Frelund wrote.

The Packers will kick off the 2024 season on Friday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia’s projection is an NFC-best 11.2 wins.

As we noted , the Eagles have new coordinators on both sides of the ball – highly regarded Kellen Moore on offense and venerable Vic Fangio on defense.

“The changes in structure on offense, as well as at both coordinator positions, have created a really nice balance between continuity of players and new looks/twists to the game plan,” Frelund wrote.

After facing the Eagles, the Packers’ next games show a chance to get off to a strong start.

Week 2: Home against Indianapolis Colts. Frelund: 8.1 wins.

Week 3: at Tennessee Titans. Frelund: 6.2 wins.

Week 4: Home against Minnesota Vikings. Frelund: 7.0 wins.

Week 5: at Los Angeles Rams. Frelund: 8.9 wins.

Week 6: Home against Arizona Cardinals. Frelund: 6.9 wins.

In the NFC North, the Lions’ projection is 10.7 wins – with a wide disparity between floor and ceiling – and the Bears’ projection is 8.6 wins.
