7 Best Travel Agencies in Singapore for Elderly-Friendly Family Tours

In Singapore, travelling is not only reserved for fit singletons with few responsibilities on their back. Despite having young children or retiree parents, the sandwiched generation aspires to travel at least once yearly.

When it comes to travelling with different generations, travel agencies can help to organise fuss-free tours where there’s no need to choose where to go and what to eat at every juncture. While younger folks might find this torture in itself, for families, it means fewer decisions to agonise over and quarrel about. Plus, you get to meet other families and your retiree parents can also meet fellow senior citizens.

Looking at the prices that we’ve found below, tour agencies don’t always cost more than going free and easy too. Which tour agency should you go to if you’re looking for a fuss-free family holiday?

Best tour agencies for senior citizens 2022

Of course, do keep in mind that package prices are not all there is to your holiday expenditure. You have to take into account entrance fees to optional attractions and shopping budgets.

Community Centre/ Residents’ Corner Organised Tour Packages

The nearest CC and RC used to be a good place to start if one was looking for cheap and easy trips to neighbouring countries or nearby islands. Since the target audience were mainly senior citizens to begin with, it will be a good chance for people of that age group to mingle and make friends.

Furthermore, the prices were very affordable. A 2D1N Malacca or Batam guided trip was less than $200 per person pre Covid-19, inclusive of return transport and 4-star accommodation.  Singaporean citizens and PRs also enjoyed subsidised rates. These trips aren’t available currently, but you can watch out for upcoming trips at the onePA events site .

CTC Travel used to be best known for their trips in Asia, particularly unique tours to China destinations like Huangshan and Jiuzhaigou.

That said, there are trips venturing to Brunei, Taiwan, Vietnam or Cambodia too. The prices are reasonable if you’re happy to do without the fancy hotels although you usually can opt to top-up and upgrade to 5-star hotels. 

CTC Travel allows you to customise your own trips if being herded into buses on a tight time frame is not your travel style. The more adventurous can get to explore more authentic accommodation options such as homestays, farm stays, camper vans etc.

If lazing around and gorging on good food is one’s idea of a perfect holiday, there are also cruises to choose from too.

CTC Travel also used to offer unique tours that are hosted by celebrities and radio DJs. It’s really cheesy, but if you or your retired parents had a favourite celebrity, it used to be quite an experience to have him/her as their tour guide.

Having read through the reviews on their Facebook page, it seems their tour leaders are dependable and knowledgeable. They go beyond their job scope to help out in the little things like carrying bags for the elderly, providing medication when someone is unwell and helping to serve meals so that everyone can get their food quickly. Based on that, it seems like young children and senior citizens will be well taken care of. 

For families travelling with senior citizens who love the scenery and history of Europe, SA Tours offers a myriad of choices at very reasonable prices.

A 10-day Switzerland tour to 5 scenic destinations costs $4,589 while an 12-day Europe tour to 6 cities costs $3,689, while a 12-day trip to Switzerland, France, and Germany costs $4,189.

Past reviews (from pre-Covid times) revealed that their tour guides offer great insights. SA Tours books their customers to Europe on Emirates flights and accommodation ranges from 4 to 5-star hotels depending on destination. 

On top of the very reasonable prices, SA Tours often have promotions too. 

WTS Travel  currently offers destinations to Holland, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland, which sets them apart from the other agencies so far. Other destinations are quite usual including Batam, Bintan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand.

With WTS Travel, one can choose between the basic free and easy tours or upgrade themselves to guided tours. Take Melbourne, for example, you sign on to a basic free and easy tour package, and get to top up for scenic road and beach tours, winery tours, or wildlife sanctuary tours.

If you’re too lazy to figure out a Royal Caribbean booking by yourself, you can also sign up for a Royal Caribbean cruise with WTS Travel.

ASA Holidays

Current destinations offered by ASA Travel  include Seoul, Busan, Santorini, Holland, Istanbul, Turkey, and France. These are pretty adventurous places for young couples and single travellers.

Prices are quite competitive at $3,368 for Spain and Portugal, $3,968 for Spain, $3,648 for Holland, $4,218 for Italy, Switzerland, and France, and more. They offer quality airlines and accommodation types so families can travel in comfort. 

ASA Travel used to also offer exclusive cruise tours like 16, 18 or 22-day Alaska cruise + Canadian Rockies pre Covid-19. These were pretty pricey at $4,588 to $7,488 but… these were super atas  dream retirement holidays.

Dynasty Travel

Dynasty Travel has been around for over 40 years and is well recognised as an award-winning agency. Their tour prices are on the high side, but you can go on your trip with a peace of mind knowing everything will be well taken care of.

It’s great for families who need that added assurance by a company with good track record to ensure their comfort and enjoyment.

Their website used to be one of the best, allowing you to compare prices based on different departure dates. You could even select your preferred airlines and make payment online. However, the Dynasty Travel website seems like it’s taken too long a hiatus over Covid-19 and currently doesn’t show you any available tours or prices. To give an idea of how much it used to cost, an 11D8N Italy tour in 2019 pre-Covid was priced around $4,500 and an 11D9N New Zealand tour with farm stay was approximately $5,288 before taxes.  

Although most of us now prefer to book travel tours online, you might have to go old school once again and call up or visit one of the Dynasty Travel stores to pick up their tour group brochures.

Chan Brothers

Chan Brothers is another trusted name in Singapore like Dynasty Travel, having won several awards in the past. In terms of comfort level, Chan Brothers probably offers one of the best. The agency t ypically flies their customers on Singapore Airlines, as long as the destination allows, and they arrange quality five-star hotels as accommodation.

They also offer the largest number of tours. Some exotic ones are like Israel, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Georgia, Armenia and Uzbekistan. Chan Brothers, similar to CTC Travel, used to have tours hosted by celebrities and radio DJs.

They used to offer a selection of celebrity tours so if  you couldn’t find your favourite DJ on CTC, you could have found him/her on Chan Brothers instead. Another tour that was great for senior citizens was the D.I.Y Holiday farm tour which was customisable and you could determine the travel type (very luxury, luxury, normal or budget) and the location.

If you haven’t decided on your family tour location, we suggest something like “a city with mountains”. It sounds like it could be a great multi-generational holiday.

Got senior citizen discount?

At the time of writing, there weren’t any specific senior citizen promotional tours going on at the agencies. However, given that Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are coming up soon, you might want to ask in store for special promotions to treat your parents on a holiday. 

However, senior citizens can flash their identity card or passport to get a discount off entrance fees and local modes of transportation that are not included in the travel package.

Don’t forget to choose the right travel insurance

It’s important to be well insured for travels, especially for senior citizens who tend to have more vulnerable health conditions. Senior citizens falling ill right before the trip and not being able to get a refund or a postponement of trip is not uncommon. Worse, falling ill during the trip incurs high emergency medical costs. 

Travel insurance  (make sure it comes with Covid-19 coverage) has always been an optional add-on item when booking tours with the agencies. Although they have tie-ups with insurance agencies and offer a more seamless experience of booking everything all at the same place, do some comparison research on MoneySmart to look for the best Covid-19 coverage and cost .

Note that buying travel insurance for senior citizens can be a tricky affair as many insurers reduce their coverage for travellers above 70 years old.

Landlocked Mongolia, affectionately called as “The Land of the Eternal Blue Sky” among locals, is located between Russia to the north and China to the south, deep within the interior of eastern Asia far from any ocean. The country has a marked continental climate, with long cold winters and short cool-to-hot summers. Its remarkable variety of scenery consists largely of upland steppes, semideserts, and deserts, although in the west and north forested high mountain ranges alternate with lake-dotted basins. Mongolia is largely a plateau, with an average elevation of about 1,580 metres above sea level. The highest peaks are in the Mongolian Altai Mountains (Mongol Altain Nuruu) in the southwest, a branch of the Altai Mountains system. Some three-fourths of Mongolia’s area consists of pasturelands, which support the immense herds of grazing livestock for which the country is known. The remaining area is about equally divided between forests and barren deserts, with only a tiny fraction of the land under crops. With a total population of fewer than three million, Mongolia has one of the lowest average population densities of any country in the world.

Balconies, pastel-colored buildings, open pracas or squares, outdoor cafés and Portuguese restaurants lend an aura of tranquility. Old Portuguese fortresses, baroque churches, Chinese temples and faded mansions with charming Portuguese place names take one back in history. Macau’s colonial past predates that of Hong Kong by nearly three hundred years as attested by the imposing facade of St. Paul’s Church. Zhuhai is also called the city of a Hundred Islands. The slow pace of life here and the romantic ocean landscape make this place very suitable for living. Zhuhai is close to Macau. In the downtown area, when walking along Lovers’ Road and looking out at the oceanscape, you can see the city of Macau in the distance. In 2019, a series of bridges and tunnels that connect Hong Kong, Macau, and Zhuhai in the Pearl River Delta in China was opened as the world's longest sea crossing (55 km) linking the two Chinese economic centres, Hong Kong and Macau (both of which are Special Administrative Regions within PR China) and the mainland of China at Zhuhai.

While escaping war-torn China, a group of passengers crashed in the Himalayas, where they were rescued and taken to the mysterious Valley of the Blue Moon, Shangri-La. Much has changed since James Hilton used it 63 years ago as the inspiration for Lost Horizon, his classic novel about Shangri-la, a spiritual paradise hidden in the Himalayas. At an altitude of 3450 msl, Shangri-La County is remarkable for its Tibetan culture and alpine landscapes, including sacred snow-capped mountains, spectacular gorges, clear lakes, and bucolic villages. Famous worldwide, it is no longer a hidden paradise per se, but hidden paradises can still be found within. Our programme starts with Lijiang with a history going back more than 1,000 years and was once a confluence for trade along the "Old Tea Horse Caravan Trail" and trails to the Tiger Leaping Gorge, a scenic canyon on the Jinsha River, a primary tributary of the upper Yangtze River. It is one of the deepest and most spectacular river canyons in the world and is part of the Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas World Heritage Site.

Aomori Prefecture lies at the northern tip of Honshū, Japan’s largest island. Famed for its apples, its seafood, and its natural beauty, this remote part of the country is rich in wild landscapes to explore, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site Shirakami Sanchi, the Jomon Period archeological site Sannai Maruyama, and other beautiful natural areas such as Lake Towada, the Hakkoda Mountains, and Hotokegaura. The prefecture is surrounded on three sides by the ocean. The Ou Mountains in the center of the region divide the prefecture in two, with the separate halves differing significantly in weather and culture. The major climatic differences are the heavy winter snowfall of the Tsugaru region and the summer easterly winds on the Pacific Ocean side. Average temperatures in April, July, October and December were 7.4℃, 20.3℃, 13.5℃, and 1.5℃, respectively. The prefecture has four highly distinctive seasons, enabling tourists to enjoy unique festivals, historical sites, beautiful nature, and other sightseeing spots and leisure activities whenever or wherever they may decide to visit.

Ancient Nanfeng Kiln (South Wind Kiln) is a cultural tourist attraction subordinate to handicraft. It was built in 1506 in Ming Dynasty and its wood-fire has been lasted for 500 years, keep bumming and producing ceramics in its original way all along until today. Lingnan Tiandi is adjacent to the Foshan Ancestral Temple. There are a large number of Lingnan-style residential buildings of the late Qing Dynasty. These difficulties can range from concerns about whether our older relatives with delicate health can handle the stresses of a flight to worries about not having wheelchair access at the places we want to visit. However, these concerns don’t need to stop you from bringing your loved ones for a fun day out without going overseas, given the myriad of elderly-friendly attractions in Singapore!

The best elderly-friendly attractions in Singapore

1. artscience museum.

The ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands features exhibits which can appeal to all members of the family. With exhibits ranging from Star Wars movies to video games and interactive virtual reality (VR) galleries, there will be something to delight every member of the family.

The museum has a large elevator that goes to all floors and wheelchair-accessible toilets throughout the building. All walkways are at least 1.2m wide to accommodate wheelchair users. Manual wheelchairs are available free of charge upon request at the level 1 Visitor Experience Counter. Furthermore, guide dogs are allowed inside the museum and there are concession rates for people with disabilities (PWDs) and their guardians when purchasing tickets to visit the museum.

Cost: Admission costs vary based on the exhibitions you want to visit. Seniors are eligible for lower concession prices for all exhibitions. For example, entry to the Future World exhibition is $16 for adults and $12 for seniors. There are also discounted bundle prices if you want to go to two or more exhibitions at the same time. 2. Singapore Botanic Gardens

With wide walkways and sprawling green fields, the Singapore Botanic Gardens is a scenic attraction where you can bring your older family members for a scenic day out. One way you can treat the seniors in your family is by bringing them to the National Orchid Garden where they can see over 1,000 different species of orchids from around the world in an environment that simulates a montane forest. The Botany Centre and the entrance to the gardens are wheelchair-accessible. Wheelchair loan services, first-aid and emergency services are available at the Visitor Services Centre located a short walk from Nassim Gate.

You can enjoy looking at flowers from areas as far as the Mediterranean in the Flower Dome or admire aquatic plants and wildlife at the Dragonfly & Kingfisher Lakes. Cafes spread around Gardens by the Bay allow your older relatives a place to relax and recharge.

Many areas in Gardens by the Bay are wheelchair-accessible. Gardens by the Bay has a wheelchair-accessible shuttle bus fleet that is free to use for wheelchair users. Wheelchairs can be rented at $2 an hour at the Arrival Gift Shop, which can save you the effort of having to pack a wheelchair when you go there. All wheelchairs must be returned by 8 p.m.

The Jurong Lake Gardens refer to the 90-hectare area consisting of three separate gardens: Lakeside Garden, Chinese Garden, and the Japanese Garden. You can stroll down the Jurong Boardwalk and behold a unique swamp habitat at Rasau Walk where you can see what Jurong was like in the past, or go down to Neram Streams to admire biodiversity if you’re feeling more adventurous. There is a kid-friendly water attraction at Clusia Cove and even a dog run so you can bring the entire family, two- and four-legged members alike!

Electric scooters will cost $20 to rent for the first three hours and $5 for every additional hour thereafter. You can rent electric scooters from the park’s reception counter. 

Cost: Single entry to the River Safari costs $17 for senior citizens above the age of 60 who are Singapore citizens, PRs and holders of MOM-approved passes. Prices for adults and youth aged 13 to 17 is $34.20 while child tickets are $23.40.  You can purchase Amazon River Quest tickets online daily, at $5 for adults and $3 for children. 

9. Sembawang Hot Spring Park

Your elderly loved ones can be soothed by the warm waters at Singapore’s only natural hot spring park . You can soak your feet in the hot spring’s waters at the park’s foot bath, and even enjoy Japanese-style hot spring eggs at a dedicated egg cooking station. Next to the hot spring are nature trails along which you can walk and find fruits and plants which would have been common in a kampung setting.

When spending a day out with senior citizens, it can be easy to worry about things like whether they can make the long walk between different attractions or if they will be okay after bumping against a railing. Your elderly family members are still adults and do not need to be watched over all the time. In fact, giving your seniors some space can help boost their confidence and well-being by restoring their sense of independence.

2. Discuss your plans beforehand

People of different ages would have different preferences. This is important to keep in mind, especially in an intergenerational family. For example, while your young children might be more interested in participating in an interactive exhibition at the museum, your elderly parents may rather spend the afternoon relaxing at the café. You should include your senior family members when you plan your day out so that they do not feel compelled to always participate in activities they’re not interested in. Taking your seniors’ preferences into account is important to planning an outing that they will genuinely enjoy.

3. Keep the itinerary simple

When you arrive at an attraction, it can be tempting to want to try out all the activities and finish visiting all the sights as soon as you can for fear of missing out. This can be overwhelming to seniors who are travelling with you. Older family members with Alzheimer’s disease might especially be easily agitated at changes in routine. Planning just one or two activities for the day and sticking to the itinerary would make it a more pleasant experience for your seniors than trying to shake up the schedule when you discover a new activity to do or place to go.

4. Learn to recognise and prevent signs of agitation

Seniors with conditions like Alzheimer’s disease can become easily irritated by environmental stimuli, like loud noises and bright lights. If you know that your elderly family members are sensitive to stimuli, try to avoid bringing them to events like a concert or a light show with bright flashing lights. Learn to recognise the warning signs of agitation early on so that you can remove your older family member from whatever is triggering their reaction and calm them down.

5. Plan plenty of time for rest

Our senior family members may not have as much energy as the rest of the family to walk around for long periods of time. Making them be on the go constantly from place to place can cause fatigue or even physical injury. Remember to include lots of time for rest to give your older family members a chance to recharge before moving on to the next item on the schedule.

6. Remember to pack essentials in case of emergency

Even if you think you have planned a fool-proof itinerary, you never know when an emergency could happen. It is good to be prepared for any situation where you might have to administer medication or call emergency services. Some of our older family members might also be on long-term medication that has to be taken at regular intervals during a staycation. You should pack doctor’s letters, medication, first-aid supplies, and a list of emergency contacts so that staff at your destination can also assist you in the event of an emergency.  

7. Take things slow

With your seniors, it is important to consider that they can get easily tired and overwhelmed from having to do many things during a holiday. They might not need to have to do a lot of things to be happy during a trip out. While you or your younger family members might want to experience all your destination has to offer, you also need to take your older family members’ feelings into consideration. Taking your time at one attraction rather than rushing on to the next might let them have a more satisfying holiday experience.

Signs of advanced dementia include severe memory loss, hallucinations, problems with communication, and frequently being confused about who or where they are. Today we explore Sentosa Island by boarding the Singapore Cable Car , travelling across Keppel Harbour to Sentosa Island . Here we visit Nature Discovery Sentosa to learn about the formation of Sentosa, before heading to Fort Siloso , a well preserved coastal fort. Immerse in local culture at Buddha Tooth Relic Temple . Stroll through Singapore Botanic Gardens , a UNESCO World Heritage Site , and home to the National Orchid Garden . In the afternoon, we head north to Kranji War Memorial for reflection. At night, embark on a Night Safari Tour through replicated natural habitats of the Himalayan Foothills, Southeast Asian Rainforest, and Indian Subcontinent on an exclusively chartered tram.

A visit this morning to the National Museum of Singapore rounds off our Singapore experience. How much luggage can I take?

Our coach tours have a baggage restriction of 17kg per person (regardless of flight and rail allowances) due to our Occupational Health & Safety standards. You can also bring one small, soft carry-on bag not exceeding 30cm wide, 30cm high, and 15cm thick that may be stowed in the overhead compartment.

What do the fitness ratings mean?

Each of our tours has a fitness rating which describes the level of physical activity involved with the tour. These ratings are very important when choosing your tour to ensure it's right for you.  Our fitness ratings are:

• 3 Active/moderate
• 4 Highly active

What is the average size of tour groups?

Our Gold Class coaches have a seat capacity of between 44 and 46, but we cap Gold Class tours at 40 guests per tour. Our Diamond Class tours have a capacity of just 26 guests. Other tour types may have different capacities depending on the transport and destination. Please get in touch with our team if you have any questions about a specific tour.

Can you cater for my dietary requirements?

In most cases, yes we can. We can accommodate guests who are vegetarian and can assist with diabetic, gluten-free and other medically-recommended diets. Please advise us at time of booking, and we can confirm with our suppliers and restaurants.

Wildlife Reserves Singapore Group

If you love animals and want to know more about their habitats and behaviour, why not explore the Singapore Zoo, Jurong Bird Park, River Wonders, and Night Safari? In Singapore, you'll find very few hotels that offer senior citizen discounts; however, every attraction with an entrance fee offers a special discounted rate, and some tour companies will quote you a better rate as well. Be warned that in Singapore you're considered a senior citizen at the age of 55 -- you either love it or hate it!

Upon request, the STB can also help plan your trip and can offer its own advice for senior travelers. Regarding this service, here's my advice: If you work out your itinerary with the help of STB, make sure you're firm about time constraints. Many of the tours and daily itineraries are rushed, with little time for a rest here and there. A common complaint is exhaustion by the end of just 1 day. In the heat, this is not only uncomfortable, but dangerous as well.

The life starts at 50 is what I fully endorse after joining Ladakh trip 3rd-11th August 2016. Every person has a child within, let it come out and there can be no better way than joining 50+ Voyagers Travel and Adventure Club. I was a bit skeptical and apprehensive of joining it but now I think it has been my one of the best decisions to be a part of it. The itinerary was properly planned right from the flights to hotels to sightseeing. Everything was hassle free. In a nut shell it was adventurous, amazing and awesome experience. Due to the age factor (78+), going alone anywhere gives me a little scare. When I came to know about 50+ Voyagers and booked Coorg tour with them, I was in the beginning skeptical how the services would be. However, when the day arrived to commence the 3 days holidays, everything from pick up from my house till they dropped me back at home - went off in the most pleasant and smooth manner. The accommodation was the best one could imagine nice cottages among a 250 acres of coffee estate, where nature showed its splendor. At the outset, my wife (aged 66 with knee problem) and I (70 years) were apprehensive as to whether we would be able to undertake the Himachal Pradesh tour given mountainous and hilly area conditions. Well after horse-riding at Kufri, I could see from expressions on the face of my wife that she had got her confidence back and had almost forgotten her knee pain. In Singapore, travelling is not only reserved for fit singletons with few responsibilities on their back. Despite having young children or retiree parents, the sandwiched generation aspires to travel at least once yearly.

When it comes to travelling with different generations, travel agencies can help to organise fuss-free tours where there’s no need to choose where to go and what to eat at every juncture. While younger folks might find this torture in itself, for families, it means fewer decisions to agonise over and quarrel about. Plus, you get to meet other families and your retiree parents can also meet fellow senior citizens.

Looking at the prices that we’ve found below, tour agencies don’t always cost more than going free and easy too. Which tour agency should you go to if you’re looking for a fuss-free family holiday?

Best tour agencies for senior citizens 2022

Of course, do keep in mind that package prices are not all there is to your holiday expenditure. You have to take into account entrance fees to optional attractions and shopping budgets.

Community Centre/ Residents’ Corner Organised Tour Packages

The nearest CC and RC used to be a good place to start if one was looking for cheap and easy trips to neighbouring countries or nearby islands. Since the target audience were mainly senior citizens to begin with, it will be a good chance for people of that age group to mingle and make friends.

Furthermore, the prices were very affordable. A 2D1N Malacca or Batam guided trip was less than $200 per person pre Covid-19, inclusive of return transport and 4-star accommodation. Singaporean citizens and PRs also enjoyed subsidised rates. These trips aren’t available currently, but you can watch out for upcoming trips at the onePA events site .

CTC Travel used to be best known for their trips in Asia, particularly unique tours to China destinations like Huangshan and Jiuzhaigou.

That said, there are trips venturing to Brunei, Taiwan, Vietnam or Cambodia too. The prices are reasonable if you’re happy to do without the fancy hotels although you usually can opt to top-up and upgrade to 5-star hotels.

CTC Travel allows you to customise your own trips if being herded into buses on a tight time frame is not your travel style. The more adventurous can get to explore more authentic accommodation options such as homestays, farm stays, camper vans etc.

If lazing around and gorging on good food is one’s idea of a perfect holiday, there are also cruises to choose from too.

CTC Travel also used to offer unique tours that are hosted by celebrities and radio DJs. It’s really cheesy, but if you or your retired parents had a favourite celebrity, it used to be quite an experience to have him/her as their tour guide.

Having read through the reviews on their Facebook page, it seems their tour leaders are dependable and knowledgeable. They go beyond their job scope to help out in the little things like carrying bags for the elderly, providing medication when someone is unwell and helping to serve meals so that everyone can get their food quickly. Based on that, it seems like young children and senior citizens will be well taken care of.

For families travelling with senior citizens who love the scenery and history of Europe, SA Tours offers a myriad of choices at very reasonable prices.

A 10-day Switzerland tour to 5 scenic destinations costs $4,589 while an 12-day Europe tour to 6 cities costs $3,689, while a 12-day trip to Switzerland, France, and Germany costs $4,189.

Past reviews (from pre-Covid times) revealed that their tour guides offer great insights. SA Tours books their customers to Europe on Emirates flights and accommodation ranges from 4 to 5-star hotels depending on destination.

On top of the very reasonable prices, SA Tours often have promotions too.

WTS Travel currently offers destinations to Holland, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland, which sets them apart from the other agencies so far. Other destinations are quite usual including Batam, Bintan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand.

With WTS Travel, one can choose between the basic free and easy tours or upgrade themselves to guided tours. Take Melbourne, for example, you sign on to a basic free and easy tour package, and get to top up for scenic road and beach tours, winery tours, or wildlife sanctuary tours.

If you’re too lazy to figure out a Royal Caribbean booking by yourself, you can also sign up for a Royal Caribbean cruise with WTS Travel.

ASA Holidays

Current destinations offered by ASA Travel include Seoul, Busan, Santorini, Holland, Istanbul, Turkey, and France. These are pretty adventurous places for young couples and single travellers.

Prices are quite competitive at $3,368 for Spain and Portugal, $3,968 for Spain, $3,648 for Holland, $4,218 for Italy, Switzerland, and France, and more. They offer quality airlines and accommodation types so families can travel in comfort.

ASA Travel used to also offer exclusive cruise tours like 16, 18 or 22-day Alaska cruise + Canadian Rockies pre Covid-19. These were pretty pricey at $4,588 to $7,488 but… these were super atas dream retirement holidays.

Dynasty Travel

Dynasty Travel has been around for over 40 years and is well recognised as an award-winning agency. Their tour prices are on the high side, but you can go on your trip with a peace of mind knowing everything will be well taken care of.

It’s great for families who need that added assurance by a company with good track record to ensure their comfort and enjoyment.

Their website used to be one of the best, allowing you to compare prices based on different departure dates. You could even select your preferred airlines and make payment online. However, the Dynasty Travel website seems like it’s taken too long a hiatus over Covid-19 and currently doesn’t show you any available tours or prices. To give an idea of how much it used to cost, an 11D8N Italy tour in 2019 pre-Covid was priced around $4,500 and an 11D9N New Zealand tour with farm stay was approximately $5,288 before taxes.

Although most of us now prefer to book travel tours online, you might have to go old school once again and call up or visit one of the Dynasty Travel stores to pick up their tour group brochures.

Chan Brothers

Chan Brothers is another trusted name in Singapore like Dynasty Travel, having won several awards in the past. In terms of comfort level, Chan Brothers probably offers one of the best. The agency t ypically flies their customers on Singapore Airlines, as long as the destination allows, and they arrange quality five-star hotels as accommodation.

They also offer the largest number of tours. Some exotic ones are like Israel, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Georgia, Armenia and Uzbekistan. Chan Brothers, similar to CTC Travel, used to have tours hosted by celebrities and radio DJs.

They used to offer a selection of celebrity tours so if you couldn’t find your favourite DJ on CTC, you could have found him/her on Chan Brothers instead. Another tour that was great for senior citizens was the D.I.Y Holiday farm tour which was customisable and you could determine the travel type (very luxury, luxury, normal or budget) and the location.

If you haven’t decided on your family tour location, we suggest something like “a city with mountains”. It sounds like it could be a great multi-generational holiday.

Got senior citizen discount?

At the time of writing, there weren’t any specific senior citizen promotional tours going on at the agencies. However, given that Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are coming up soon, you might want to ask in store for special promotions to treat your parents on a holiday.

However, senior citizens can flash their identity card or passport to get a discount off entrance fees and local modes of transportation that are not included in the travel package.

Don’t forget to choose the right travel insurance

It’s important to be well insured for travels, especially for senior citizens who tend to have more vulnerable health conditions. Senior citizens falling ill right before the trip and not being able to get a refund or a postponement of trip is not uncommon. Worse, falling ill during the trip incurs high emergency medical costs.

Travel insurance (make sure it comes with Covid-19 coverage) has always been an optional add-on item when booking tours with the agencies. Although they have tie-ups with insurance agencies and offer a more seamless experience of booking everything all at the same place, do some comparison research on MoneySmart to look for the best Covid-19 coverage and cost .

Note that buying travel insurance for senior citizens can be a tricky affair as many insurers reduce their coverage for travellers above 70 years old.
