- Copied to Clipboard
UPDATE 03.08.23: Verified Fan registration has been extended to Sunday, March 19 at 7PM PT/9PM CT/10PM ET. The Verified Fan Onsale will take place on Wednesday, March 22 at 3PM local venue time.
New shows announced in north america.
TWICE has announced TWICE 5TH WORLD TOUR ‘READY TO BE’ and is leveraging Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan technology to ensure more tickets get into the hands of fans.
We expect heavy demand for these shows, so getting your Ticketmaster account verified through Verified Fan will be critical to increasing your chances of getting tickets.
Verified Fan helps artists get more of their tickets into the hands of fans who want to go to the show, not buyers looking to resell them. When an artist chooses to use Verified Fan, we use a registration system to help filter out buyers looking to resell tickets for profit. And while it doesn’t guarantee that all Verified Fans will get tickets, it does significantly block bots and professional resellers from competing against fans for tickets during the sale. Access to the Verified Fan sale does not guarantee tickets. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Read on for information about how to secure your tickets for the Verified Fan Onsale.

How to Register for the Verified Fan Onsale

If all tickets are purchased during the Verified Fan Onsale, there will not be a General Onsale.
Verified Fan Onsale
Here’s how the Verified Fan process works:
Step 1: Registration
To register for Verified Fan
- Go to Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan Registration page here .
- Sign in using your Ticketmaster account; if you don’t have one, you can create one when you register. Be sure to register with the Ticketmaster account you wish to use on the day of the onsale.
- Tell us what show(s) you’re interested in and submit your registration by 7PM PT / 9PM CT / 10PM ET on Sunday, March 19 to be considered.
From there, we’ll send you an email to confirm your registration was successful and provide details about what to expect next.
Step 2: Verification Next, Ticketmaster vets your request by confirming it belongs to an individual – not a bot – and that it hasn’t been tied to irregular behaviors that could be a sign of a professional seller attempting to access the sale for purposes of reselling tickets.
Step 3: Access Code or Waitlist When demand exceeds availability, a lottery-style process will determine which registered Verified Fans will receive a unique access code and which are put on the waitlist. You’ll receive an email the morning of the Verified Fan Onsale (once announced) letting you know which group you’re in.
- Access Code: If you receive an access code, it will be sent via text message. It is unique to your account, and will not work if anyone else enters it – do not try to sell or trade your code.
- Waitlist: If tickets remain, we may text you an access code to join the ticket sale. The lottery-style process will be used to determine who gets off the waitlist.
Access to the Verified Fan Onsale does not guarantee tickets. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. So if you get a code, be sure to join the sale promptly for the best chance to get tickets.
Other important notes:
The Verified Fan Onsale date and time will be announced at a later date. When the onsale day comes, the Waiting Room will open 30 minutes before the sale begins. You may only join the Waiting Room using the same Ticketmaster account that you registered with.
When the sale begins, fans in the Waiting Room will be assigned a spot in line. When it is your turn, you must enter your access code exactly as it appears to access tickets.
Important Things to Know
Only fans who have been verified and receive an access code will have the opportunity to purchase tickets via the Verified Fan onsale.
Receiving an access code means that you’ll have the opportunity to buy tickets; however, the ability to purchase tickets is determined by supply and demand, and is not guaranteed. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.
Ticket Limits
- Fans invited to the Verified Fan Onsale may purchase a maximum of four (4) tickets per access code. Note that while you may purchase tickets for multiple shows using the same access code (i.e. 2 tickets for Show 1 and 2 tickets for Show 2), you cannot exceed four (4) tickets in total across the run of events.
Ticket Delivery
- 100% of tickets will be delivered as SafeTix mobile tickets. To learn more about SafeTix click here .
- Fans may easily transfer tickets between Ticketmaster accounts.
- However, to help keep more tickets in the hands of fans, ticket purchases will not be available to view or transfer to friends and family from your Ticketmaster account until a date to be determined after the onsale.
Learn more about sending tickets to friends and family using Ticketmaster Ticket Transfer .
Shopping Tips
What device should i use to purchase tickets, can i sign in to the same ticketmaster account on multiple devices to shop, how many tabs can i have open at once.
You may only use multiple tabs on the same device when shopping for more than one show. As a reminder:
- If you’d like to shop for tickets to multiple shows, you will need to join the Waiting Room for each one.
- Please only join the Waiting Room once and only use one tab per show to reduce any delays.
- Once you join the Waiting Room, do not close your page.
Is it true only one device is allowed per WiFi network and others will be blocked?
Can a group of us share the same wifi at someone's house/school/etc, can i use public or shared wifi, can we use the same credit card across two accounts for tickets, can i give or share my verified fan access code with friends or family, why do i see tickets available to purchase on another site before the verified fan sale has even happened, frequently asked questions, when is the verified fan registration period, can i register more than once to increase my chances of being verified, if i edit my registration more than once, will i be disqualified, are international fans able to register for verified fan, will my registration for verified fan work on purchases for twice shows outside of the us, i signed up for the verified fan onsale using my name, but i will be using someone else’s credit card since i do not have one. will that be an issue if my ticketmaster account name does not match the name of the card, i received a registration confirmation email, does that mean i will get tickets, when will i receive an email letting me know if i'll receive a unique access code or be placed on the waitlist.
Reminder: Access to the Verified Fan Onsale does not guarantee tickets. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. So if you get a code, be sure to join the sale promptly at the time stated in your email for the best chance to get tickets. Please be aware that onsale start times will differ depending on the show you registered for, so make sure you make a note of the local time stated in your email.
When submitting my registration I received a six-digit authentication code from Ticketmaster. Can I use this code to purchase tickets during the Verified Fan sales?
Does registering mean i get a verified fan access code, does getting an access code mean i will get tickets, when is the onsale being held, whose id do i bring if i buy tickets on my ticketmaster account, but use my parent/guardian credit card to purchase a vip package.

About TWICE:
Formed under K-pop powerhouse JYP Entertainment in 2015, TWICE – comprised of members Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, Tzuyu – is one of the best-selling K-pop girl groups of all time. Since their debut, the group has sold over 10 million albums, received nearly 6 billion streams on Spotify, performed on programs such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and GMA3, and has been nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards. In March 2023, they will be honored with the “Breakthrough Artist” award at the Billboard Women in Music Awards.
The group first rose to prominence with their debut title song “Like OOH-AHH” and 2016 breakthrough single “CHEER UP,” which went on to top multiple Korean pop charts and won ‘Song of the Year’ at the Melon Music Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards. From 2016 to 2019, the group releases a slew of mini albums and hit singles, as well as their first full-length album, Twicetagram, and successfully completed their first world tour, TWICELIGHTS. In 2020, TWICE made their first ranking on the Artist 100 and Billboard 200 lists with their mini album MORE & MORE, and their second full-length album, Eyes wide open, debuted at #8 on Billboard’s World Albums chart.
The momentum continued through 2021 where they kicked off the year with a performance on TIME100 Talks followed by their first U.S. broadcast debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show. That June, they released their 10th mini album, Taste of Love, and followed this up with the release of their first full English-language single, “The Feels,” which earned the group their first career entry on The Billboard Hot 100 (#83) and multiple top 10 placements across various charts. TWICE closed out the year with the release of their third full-length album Formula of Love: O+T=<3, which hit #3 on the Billboard 200 and stayed on the chart for eight consecutive weeks.
Last year, TWICE completed their sold-out 4TH WORLD TOUR Ⅲ arena tour and back-to-back, sold-out encore performances at Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium. These performances were a major milestone for the group, as made TWICE the first female K-Pop group to sell out two North American arena tours, as well as the first female K-Pop group to play a North American stadium. In August, they released their 11th EP, BETWEEN 1&2, which entered the Billboard 200 Album Chart at #3 and holds the biggest pure sales week for an album by a female K-Pop act in the US, further extending TWICE’s record for the most top 10 debuts on the chart among all K-Pop female acts. BETWEEN 1&2’s lead single “Talk that Talk” reached the top 20 on Billboard’s Global 200 chart, and top 10 on Billboard’s Global Excl. US chart, tying with “The Feels” as their highest charting single on the latter chart. They ended the year as the most-stream female K-Pop group on Spotify.
Most recently, TWICE released their second full English-language single, “MOONLIGHT SUNRISE” off their forthcoming EP READY TO BE. The track debuted at #84 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned TWICE career high-placements on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart (#3) and both Spotify’s US Chart (#39) and Global Chart (#60).

We will get you through the queue as quickly as possible, so please sit tight

Hints and tips for improving your chances of getting TWICE tickets
Make sure you have a my ticketmaster account.
Get the basics covered before tickets go on sale by logging in and checking your Ticketmaster account ahead of time. If you don’t have a Ticketmaster Account then make sure you sign up in advance – Ticketmaster.com.au .
Sign into your My Ticketmaster account ahead of time
Remember to triple check your passwords, account information, and billing information are all filled in correctly in advance, that way you’re not facing any last-minute account updates when trying to process your order.
Keep your options open with ‘Best Available’
Save time by searching “Best Available,” which scans all sections fast – it’s quicker than searching sections one at a time.
Keep an eye on the clock
There will be a time limit applied to all transactions as you are progressed through the ticket purchasing stages. Remember to keep an eye on the timer on your screen and move through the processing pages as quickly as possible (this is even easier when you’ve completed the account set-up stage we mentioned above).
Don’t refresh your screen
Stick to one window while you’re in the Waiting Room and when you’re being pushed through the Smart Queue and always resist the urge to refresh.
Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game. Ticketmaster is equipped with sophisticated systems that are designed to manage and process ticket purchases as quickly as possible. The queuing system that appears on your screen will place you at the front of the line as soon as possible.
Remember: there are a lot of fans
We’re expecting this to be a very popular event. When a popular event goes on sale there are hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of customers all attempting to purchase tickets at the same time. Tickets are sold as long as seats are available, and when an act is this popular, sometimes they go very quickly.
Be sure to follow the above tips to ensure you have the best chance of snapping up some tickets.

How to Get Tickets to TWICE’s ‘Ready to Be (Once More)’ Show in Las Vegas
By Tim Chan
If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission.
TWICE are getting ready to return to the U.S. for an encore presentation of their “Ready to Be” tour. The K-pop girl group will be performing a one-night-only show on March 16 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, dubbed the “Ready to Be Once More” concert.
The Las Vegas date follows TWICE’s Latin America leg in February 2024 with four shows across Mexico and Brazil.
“ONCE! We are so grateful to see so many of you on tour this year,” shared TWICE. “It’s been a huge honor to play for you all on our biggest tour yet. Let’s celebrate TWICE 5TH WORLD TOUR READY TO BE once more together and make this a night we will never forget.”
Tickets for the TWICE 5th World Tour “Ready to Be” Once More performance will go on sale this Friday, December 15th at 6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT at Ticketmaster.com.
Want to get tickets to see TWICE in concert? Here’s what you need to know.
How to Get TWICE Tickets Online
Like Taylor Swift and Beyonce before them, TWICE is using Ticketmaster as the official ticketing site for the “Ready to Be” tour.
Tickets to the TWICE show in Las Vegas go on sale on December 15 at 6 p.m. ET. This is a simultaneous public on sale, as well as a sale for VIP tickets and official platinum packages.
Note: there will not be a separate pre-sale for ONCE (a.k.a the TWICE fandom) or any fan club members.
Do You Need Verified Fan for TWICE Tickets on Ticketmaster?
Unlike their 2023 tour dates, you don’t need any special promo code or Verified Fan code to buy TWICE Las Vegas tickets online. But for faster check out, we do recommend registering for a Ticketmaster.com account ahead of time.
Registering also doesn’t guarantee tickets — you’ll want to log into Ticketmaster.com as soon as the TWICE tickets become available, and seats will go on a first-come, first-served basis.
If TWICE tickets are sold out on Ticketmaster, we recommend a site like Vivid Seats , which will likely have a ton of TWICE tickets available at different price points. Bonus: use promo code RS2023 for $20 off at VividSeats.com .

Stay Calm: TWICE Added Four More Dates To Their Ready To Be Tour
Their worldwide domination is a never-ending dream.
TWICE is going worldwide again, baby. In February, the K-pop group announced their fifth world tour in support of their mini album, Ready To Be. Recently, the singers extended the tour by adding four more dates, with one adding to their historic stint of headlining stadiums with incredible ease. When member Chaeyoung told Nylon earlier this year that TWICE is looking to go global in the next phase of their career , she meant it.
On Aug. 29, TWICE — comprised of members Nayeon , Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu — shared the dates for the “third part” of their tour. This section extends their fall run beyond September, and sees the singers visiting Australia, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil to early 2024. The Ready To Be tour was originally scheduled to end on Sept. 30; however, these were added due to “high demand.”
Their new Australia show is impressive, as it’ll make them the first female group to headline a stadium there . At this point, this iconic accolade is standard for them. For the U.S. part of this tour, TWICE became the first K-pop group to perform as headliners in MLB and NFL stadiums. They also held a similar honoring for their two 4th World Tour Los Angeles shows in 2022, per Rolling Stone .
For those looking to attend their historic Melbourne show, buckle in. A Live Nation presale for that show will start run from Sept. 4 to Sept. 6. Shortly after the presale ends, a general public sale will also happen on Sept. 6. TWICE hasn’t released ticket information for their three other tour dates yet.
These four new dates follow TWICE’s second tour extension in April. That month, the “Set Me Free” stars announced their Europe and Southeast Asia trek of shows will begin in September. That month, they’ll visit cities across countries of Singapore, Thailand, France, Germany, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom.
Below, everything else to know about TWICE’s upcoming tour.
When does TWICE’s tour begin?
TWICE’s world tour kicked off with two shows on Apr. 15 & 16 in Seoul, South Korea.
What will TWICE perform on tour?
Fans can expect to hear tracks from their Ready To Be album, including lead singles “Moonlight Sunrise” and “Set Me Free.”
The glossy, R&B-inspired synths of “Moonlight Sunrise” see TWICE exploring the excitement of falling in love with sultry twists on drinking. The singers dare their crushes to take a Tequila Sunrise shot on them under the moonlight, because there’s nothing steamier than a NSFW drinking game. Their range of whispery-sweet to warm vocals against these arrangements is the cherry on top, especially when they offer breathy high notes in the outro.
Meanwhile, “Set Me Free” has a peppier tempo. Over a disco-funk beat, the group gushes about how their significant other inspires them to love freely.
As for other sonic material, TWICE might possibly sprinkle in tracks from their 2022 album, BETWEEN 1&2 . They could also allot time for certain members to perform their solo discography. So far, Nayeon, Jihyo, and MISAMO have released solo mini-albums.
In 2022, Nayeon became the first member of TWICE to debut her solo music. That year, she released I’m Nayeon, a seven-track EP filled with bubblegum-meets-mid-tempo gems suitable for the summer. While the entire record offered promise, her lead single “POP!” was the true hitmaker. Clad in both Korean and English lyrics, the sugary track sees Nayeon encouraging a love interest to show her their true feelings.
MISAMO became the second artists to prove their solo skills. In July 2023, the group — a sub-unit of TWICE’s three Japanese members Sana , Momo , and Mina — released their EP Masterpiece . Similar to Nayeon, this project boasts seven budding hits; however, their track “Do Not Touch” glimmers with most intrigue.
Serving as the leader of TWICE, Jihyo’s solo moment was long overdue. On Aug. 18, nearly one month after MISAMO’s debut, Jihyo released her anticipated EP Zone . The 22-minute project flaunts Jihyo’s most stunning vocals, her tone teetering between confident belts ( “Killin’ Me Good” ) to sultry, almost breathless glazes on “Closer.”
When & where are TWICE’s Ready to Be tour dates?
TWICE’s 17-date world tour began in South Korea before hitting Australia and Japan. The group then headed stateside for nine shows in the U.S. and Canada, traveling to cities such as Los Angeles, Seattle, Toronto, Houston, and Chicago.

- Nov. 4 in Melbourne, AU at Marvel Stadium
- Dec. 23 in Jakarta, ID at Jakarta International Stadium
- Feb. 3 in Mexico City, MX at Foro Sol

TikTok Is Creating Overnight Stars—But Many Struggle to Find Real-World Success
Tiktok's online fame flops on stage for many emerging artists..
TikTok , with over 46 million downloads in 2024 alone and around 1.9 billion users worldwide, has become a catalyst for music trends. In the U.S., TikTok users are twice more likely to discover music on the app than the average user of other social media platforms, according to a 2024 study commissioned by TikTok and conducted by Luminate , an entertainment analytics company. From pushing the biggest pop stars with dance trends to supporting the rise of a breakout artist, going viral on TikTok is a promotional dream for every musician. Yet, the song everyone has stuck in their head one week is quickly forgotten the next, which makes planning live shows and tours that depend on an artist’s longevity increasingly difficult.

Before TikTok was bought by ByteDance in 2017, it was called Musical.ly, which was built around sharing lip-syncing videos to songs and started trends through lip-syncing challenges, dances and even seemingly random actions paired with a sound. “[New] artists were able to get picked up…even with artists that have been around forever, like Fleetwood Mac, [we saw] how they were able to come back to life amongst Gen Z all because someone just happened to ride a skateboard and film with it ,” Eric Dahan , a co-founder of the influencer marketing company Open Influence, told Observer.
A viral sound doesn’t just benefit artists through exposure; it also leads to profit. “The main way that artists can monetize on TikTok is through music royalties. The app pays artists based on the number of videos that use an artist’s sound,” said Sarah Boyd , Co-CEO and chief revenue officer at The Digital Dept,, an influencer marketing agency.
Luminate’s research found that engagement with an artist‘s music on TikTok is strongly correlated with streaming volumes on other platforms. After finding a song on TikTok, users will often search the lyrics or song on another streaming app. Spotify (SPOT) ’s “Viral Hits,” a regularly updated playlist of viral songs, has over 4 million saves. Capitalizing on the benefits of a viral sound, talent managers often encourage artists to self-promote a snippet of their songs to tease an album or a new song release on TikTok.
However, using social media as a promotional tool isn’t enough to generate a viral sensation. “It’s just as important to use TikTok and social media in general to share why audiences should become invested in you as an artist ,” Ali Grant , co-CEO and CMO of the Digital Dept, told Observer. Grant cited Chappell Roan as an example of an artist who understands the TikTok ecosystem and has ridden that wave to record-breaking crowds at music festivals. “She found a balance between teasing and promoting her new music and also using TikTok to share everything from makeup tutorials to behind-the-scenes looks at filming music videos to funny memes using her music,” Grant said.
The overnight fame on TikTok doesn’t always last
However, the same algorithm that can propel an artist to fame overnight can also work against them when a new trend takes over. “A lot of it is out of the artist’s control, and it comes down to how people are going to interpret the work and use it and if any of that happens to pop. There’s a lot of randomness,” Dahan said.
TikTok’s “For You” page algorithm is based on a recommendation system , which processes user interactions, video information, and account settings and ranks videos based on indicators of interest. If an artist’s content doesn’t get promoted on TikTok’s “For You” page, there’s not much the artist or their manager can do.
Musicians who found their fame on TikTok have had mixed success with real-world fans. Olivia Rodrigo , 21, released her debut single, “Driver’s License,” in January 2021 and broke the Spotify record for the most single-day streams for a non-holiday song (achieved on its fourth day of release) and the biggest first week for a song on Spotify and Amazon Music. When Rodrigo announced her Sour Tour in December of that year, tickets sold out in mere minutes. Some fans were disappointed to see Rodrigo touring small-capacity venues with fewer than 5,000 seats instead of arenas that typically hold around four times that maximum. Capital FM reported that a 3,500-seat venue where Rodrigo performed had over 40,000 fans in the Ticketmaster queue vying for tickets.
Rodrigo defended her decision to start her touring career in smaller venues , saying she “didn’t want to skip any steps.” Still, Rodrigo’s team’s conservative estimate led to severe backlash and widespread disappointment for the tens of thousands of loyal fans who could not obtain tickets.
Meanwhile, many overly ambitious tours struggle to fill large-capacity venues. Even high-profile industry veterans like Jennifer Lopez and The Black Keys have canceled their arena tours, reportedly due to low ticket sales.
Kim Petras , 31, whose fame comes mainly from TikTok (over 850,000 followers), faced significant challenges selling tickets for her “Feed the Beast” world tour. Despite having popular singles like “Unholy” featuring Sam Smith and “Alone” featuring Nicki Minaj , reports indicated that some concerts struggled to fill venues that aimed for a total audience of 190,000, eventually leading the singer to partner with Groupon to sell tickets at a discount. Joshua Bassett , 23, a singer-songwriter with over 3 million followers on TikTok, has been unable to sell the vast majority of tickets for The Golden Years Tour. Most recently, he began giving out free tickets to shows in an attempt to fill seats.
A key issue for touring artists is forecasting demand. For artists coming from online fame, a primary concern is whether the artist can survive the trend cycle and keep interest from the time tickets are released to the actual shows. Yet, a larger issue facing the touring industry is not that artists cannot maintain their fame online but that artists are doing shows bigger than they can sell out. For artists like Petras, who consistently gets millions of views per video, their fans are spread across the globe. Even though an artist may have a large online following, certain cities may have a considerably smaller fan base.
In addition, pricing is crucial to the decision-making process for touring artists. When it comes to TikTok-based artists, it’s possible that the prices associated with bigger venues are too high for their followers. While a user may follow many artists online, they may only be willing to pay to see a select few live. If given the choice between the pricey tickets of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and several shows of other artists in similar or mid-sized venues, they may pick to see Swift anyway. In smaller venues with much lower ticket prices, however, seeing a show becomes less of a financial commitment, and it may encourage casual fans or new listeners to attend.
As the music industry continues to grapple with TikTok’s influence, artists’ success will likely increasingly hinge on their ability to convert fleeting viral moments into sustained, tangible support from their audience.

History of Yaroslavl Oblast
The first people settled on the territory of the Yaroslavl region at the end of the late Paleolithic (about 22-15 thousand years ago), after the retreat of the last glacier, when its territory was covered by the glacial tundra, on which herds of mammoths grazed. At the beginning of the second millennium BC (Bronze Age), from the Middle Dnieper, the cattle-breeding tribes of the Indo-Europeans came to this region.
In the second half of the first millennium AD, the territory of the region was populated by the Merya. In the 9th-10th centuries, the Slavs began to settle in the Upper Volga region. The Yaroslavl region became the core of the Russian lands. The first Russian town in its territory was Rostov, which was mentioned in the chronicles in 862.
In 882, Kiev became the capital of the Russian lands and Rostov became the administrative center of the North-Eastern Russia (Rostov Principality). Among the famous princes of Rostov were Boris (one of the first Russian saints) and Yaroslav the Wise, who founded the town of Yaroslavl in 1010. According to the legend, Yaroslav subdued the local pagan tribes, when he axed the “sacred” bear they worshipped. The coat of arms of Yaroslavl reminds of this event.
From the second half of the 11th century, centrifugal tendencies were intensifying. The centers of four principalities were located on the territory of the Yaroslavl region. In 1238, the North-Eastern Russia was devastated during the Mongol invasion and became dependent on the Golden Horde.
More historical facts…
In the second half of the 13th - the beginning of the 14th centuries, the towns of the North-Eastern Russia were repeatedly ravaged as a result of raids. In 1463, the territory of the Yaroslavl region peacefully became part of the Grand Duchy of Moscow. After the foundation of Arkhangelsk, Yaroslavl became an important transit point on the way from Moscow to this northern port.
In the 17th century, the old Russian architecture was experiencing a new upsurge. In Yaroslavl, Rostov Veliky, Romanov-Borisoglebsk, Uglich, Kostroma, a lot of masterpieces of Russian architecture were created. The complex of Tolga monastery was formed, the center of which was the Vvedensky Cathedral (1681-1683). During the 17th century, more than 40 stone religious buildings were built in Yaroslavl.
The territory of the Yaroslavl region was badly damaged during the Time of Troubles. In 1777, Yaroslavl gubernia (province) was formed. In 1850, the Yaroslavl Tobacco Factory was established. In 1879, with the participation of Mendeleev, the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery was established. In 1870, the railway connected Yaroslavl with Moscow, and, in 1872 - with Vologda.
During the Civil War, there were no active military operations on the territory of the region, with the exception of the Yaroslavl and Rybinsk uprisings, which caused heavy damage to these towns.
After the forced industrialization of the 1930s, the sectoral structure of the local economy changed. Engineering and chemical industry became the main branches of the economy, while the traditional textile industry moved to the third place. In 1936, Yaroslavl Oblast was formed with the following three main cities - Yaroslavl, Rybinsk and Kostroma.
In 1944, Kostroma Oblast was separated from Yaroslavl Oblast. Since then, the boundaries of the region have not changed much. In 1935, the construction of the Rybinsk hydroelectric power station began, which led to the appearance of a vast Rybinsk reservoir on the Volga River and the flooding of the town of Mologa.
During the Second World War, more than 500,000 residents of the Yaroslavl region went to the front, more than 200,000 people were killed. After the war, the construction of the Rybinsk hydroelectric power station and the filling of the Rybinsk reservoir were completed.
In 1962, the Novo-Yaroslavl Refinery was opened, production of gasoline, fuel oil, kerosene, raw materials for the production of rubber, plastics, varnishes began. In this regard, the ecological situation in Yaroslavl deteriorated sharply. In the 1960s-1990s, Yaroslavl was invariably among the 50 most polluted cities of the USSR. In 1970, to the centenary of the birth of V.I. Lenin, a university was opened in Yaroslavl.
