See Las Vegas from the High Roller, the world's tallest observation wheel

Standing at more than 167 meters, the High Roller isn’t your typical Ferris wheel. It’s actually the tallest in the world, and you’ll marvel at the incredible 360-degree views over the Strip, the Las Vegas Valley and the surrounding desert as we take you on an unforgettable 30-minute ride in one of the air-conditioned compartments.

Learn about the desert playground of Las Vegas history

Ever wondered how Las Vegas came to be the entertainment capital it is today? We’ll dive into the city’s incredible history, starting with an optional guided tour of Hoover Dam and the largest man-made reservoir in the US, which brought thousands of workers and entertainers to the area, before discovering the Age of Glamour, casinos, the Strip and the Mob.

Enjoy a drink at one of Vegas's famous cocktail bars

In a city that’s famed for its non-stop partying, you can’t come to Vegas without checking out the world-class cocktail bars. It’s time to let down your hair and indulge in some sinfully good cocktails, and we’ll let you in on all the best spots from luxury lounges and secret bars, to celebrity haunts that once hosted the likes of Frank Sinatra and Barbara Streisand.

Explore the Fremont Street Experience

As the city’s first street and casino corridor, Fremont Street is one of the very best places to visit in Las Vegas. It’s absolutely packed with history and dazzling attractions, and we’ll take you on an amazing experience to see all the extravagant casinos, wedding chapels, stunning light shows, fantastic museums and live music of the ‘Glitter Gulch’.

Take an optional helicopter flightseeing trip above Las Vegas

Of all the things to do in Las Vegas, it doesn’t get much more thrilling than a helicopter ride at night. We give you the chance to get the ultimate view of the whole city glowing in the dark, with your pilot pointing out the iconic hotels and casinos along the Strip, the 350-metre Stratosphere Tower and the brilliant Luxor space beam.

Our top 5 things to do in Las Vegas

Ready to dive into the fun and games of Sin City? We’ve got the inside scoop on all the very best Las Vegas attractions, from the High Roller to the finest cocktail bars.

The Mob Museum

Housed in the federal courthouse that once trialed mobsters, you’ll dive into the history of organized crime in Sin City at the Mob Museum. With fascinating mob artifacts, FBI equipment and interactive exhibits, you’ll learn about Al Capone, J. Edgar Hoover and more, and even hear FBI interviews with some of the world’s most notorious gangsters.

The Neon Museum

In a city built on neon lights, you can’t miss checking out the Neon Museum, dedicated to preserving the iconic signs of Las Vegas. You can wander the Neon Boneyard, where neon signs come to retire, marvelling at the vintage treasures like the Silver Slipper, the Binion’s Horseshoe and famous signage from Stardust, Caesars Palace and more.

Las Vegas Natural History Museum

Set in the Cultural Corridor of Las Vegas, this incredible museum has just about everything from the treasures of ancient Egypt to mammals from all over the world. You can see a real woolly mammoth tooth, giant whale models hanging from the ceiling, and even amazing prehistoric creatures like dinosaurs, a saber-tooth cat and a giant ground sloth.

Best museums in Las Vegas

Our Las Vegas trips will show you around all the fascinating museums where you can learn about everything from the history of the Mafia to the city’s amazing vintage neon signs.

Shrimp cocktail

It doesn’t get more classic than a shrimp cocktail. This timeless appetizer shot to stardom from the 60s to the 80s, but it’s still as popular as ever in Las Vegas. Made with cooked and chilled shrimp, served in a parfait glass with cocktail sauce and a lemon wedge, the iconic shrimp cocktail gives you a taste of the Vegas Golden Age and the cocktail parties of old.

Sinatra Hat

Tip your hat to Frank Sinatra with this exquisite dessert at his namesake restaurant at Wynn Las Vegas. Created by a chef who used to cook for Sinatra, the dessert is made with chocolate mousse shaped like Sinatra’s famous fedora, and it’s almost too lovely to eat. Surrounded by swinging music and mementos, this will be a meal to remember.

Lemon Ricotta Cookies

If you’re looking for the ultimate celebrity chef dining experience in Las Vegas, we suggest heading to GIADA where Giada De Laurentiis dishes up her mouthwatering Italian cuisine. One of my good friends organized this outing to this museum which I had never heard of. It is really a hidden gem located in the Northwest part of Las Vegas. We all met up and toured this artastic museum. Laura warmly greeted us at the entry and guided us through the museum. Laura was Abbey's archivist and she had so much knowledge to share. Laura was kind enough to show us Abbey's studio which has been left exactly how the artist left it. Sadly, Abbey passed away on March 20, 2021. The museum opened in 2022. Let me give you some background information. Rita Deanin Abbey was a long time Las Vegas resident. She moved here in 1965 and served as an art professor at UNLV for over twenty years. She first began her enjoyment of art at the age of 14. She attended Goddard College in Vermont and received her Masters of Fine Art degree from the University of New Mexico in 1954. In the mid 1980's Abbey and her husband built a home, an artists studio and sculpture garden on their ten acres of land. In 2010, they began construction of the 10,500 foot museum which houses and presents Abbey's career of artwork. Her variety of art features abstract expressionist paintings, figure drawings, landscapes, stained glass, murals, sculptures and more. I was mesmerized by her art and found many moving pieces. While living in the Southwest, Abbey developed a strong affinity for nature and she demonstrates this in so much of her artwork. Many of her larger pieces were once housed in the Judy Bayley Theater on the UNLV campus and being of Jewish descent she designed and created gorgeous stain glassed windows for the Temple Beth Sholom located in Summerlin South. Along with the museum, there is a beautiful sculpture garden outside that we did not get to see much of since it was raining today, but we plan to return on a nicer day to check out. if you enjoy and appreciate art then this museum is a must visit.

What a hidden treasure in Centennial Hills! We are so happy we found this single artist museum through Yelp. Son is taking an online arts course. His professor required a museum visit. We were too tired to drive to strip to Bellagio art museum. We are so grateful Yelp recommended. Rita Deanin Abbey was a multidisciplinary abstract artist and among the first art professors at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!

This Museum is a true gem nestled in a suburban area of the Las Vegas desert. From the moment I entered, I was awed by the colorful, diverse work of this fearless artist. Her use of materials such as sawdust (!) in some of her art was intriguing to say the least. Rita Deanin Abbey's time spent in the Israel desert is reflected in many of her pieces. Her Jewish background can also be see when you reach the gorgeous "Menorah"-shaped stained-glass windows and in the Sculpture Garden when you understand the message behind the stainless steel sculpture - "Holocaust". After spending time within the museum, one of the helpful docents guided us through a "hidden area" of the Sculpture garden filled with thought-provoking sculptures and unique desert landscaping. An interesting tidbit is that by downloading their app at the museum, you gain access to a larger body of work within many series which the artist created. Before we left the Museum, we browsed the gift shop and came away with some wonderful mementos of our visit. This museum is worth your time whether you are interested in "Jewish Las Vegas" or just "out of the ordinary Las Vegas"!

Stunning artwork by a fearless artist. Plan to spend time contemplating the pieces from all angles. A true visionary who strove to meld nature with the personal and spiritual.

Where do Southern Nevada golfers stand as PGA Tour playoffs begin?

T he PGA Tour playoffs begin this weekend, with the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings teeing it up in Memphis at the St. Jude Championship starting Thursday.

The top 50 move on to next week’s BMW Championship in Colorado. The top 30 then advance to the Tour Championship in Atlanta.

Just four Las Vegas-based players qualified for the postseason. The remainder will sit back and wait for the eight-tournament fall season to get inside the top 125 and secure their 2025 playing cards. Here’s a look at where the Southern Nevada players stand entering the playoffs:

No. 4 Collin Morikawa

Best finish : Second at Memorial.

The season’s highest-ranked player on tour without a win, thanks to five top-five finishes, including third at the Masters and fourth at the PGA Championship.

No. 59 Maverick McNealy

Best finish : Third at 3M.

Posted four top-10 finishes as he worked his way back from a labrum injury that sidelined him much of 2023.

No. 62 Min Woo Lee

Best finish : Second at Cognizant and Rocket Mortgage.

Two strong weeks got Lee into the playoffs during an otherwise inconsistent season.

No. 66 Seamus Power

Best finish : 12th at Heritage

The poster child for the current PGA Tour system. Power made the playoffs without a top-10 finish thanks to getting in all eight limited field signature events.

No. 73 Kurt Kitayama

Best finish : Sixth at 3M.

Also got into all the signature events, but his game never clicked, leaving him on the outside looking in.

No. 80 Charley Hoffman

Best finish : Playoff loss at Phoenix

The veteran added two more top-10s to secure his playing status for 2025.

No. 86 Harry Hall

Best finish : Win at ISCO

The only Las Vegas player with a win in 2024. It wasn’t enough to get him into the playoffs thanks to otherwise average results and no eligibility for signature events.

No. 91 Doug Ghim

Best finish : Eighth in Mexico

Five straight top-16 finishes early in the season put Ghim on solid footing.

No. 100 Rico Hoey

Best finish : Playoff loss at ISCO

Three top-10 finishes his final six events saved his rookie season after 10 missed cuts.

No. 114 Taylor Montgomery

Best finish : 11th at Players Championship

Shoulder issues have limited Montgomery to two starts since May.

No. 144 Ryan Moore

Best finish : Fifth at Valspar

The veteran will be fighting for his playing card in the fall thanks to 10 missed cuts.

No. 147 Joseph Bramlett

Best finish : 17th at Valspar

A mirror image of Moore with 10 missed cuts.

No. 160 Justin Suh

Best finish : 11th at Barracuda

A shockingly poor season with 14 missed cuts in 22 starts.

No. 163 David Lipsky

Best finish : Ninth at Charles Schwab

Almost identical to Suh, with 14 missed cuts and one withdrawal in 22 starts.

No. 188 Scott Piercy

Best finish : 28th at Zurich

Couldn’t capitalize on just 10 opportunities to play with limited status.

No. 190 Norman Xiong

Best finish : Ninth at Puerto Rico

Rookie season was derailed by a back injury after 11 starts. Hasn’t played since May.

No. 199 Nick Watney

Best finish : 11th at Zurich

Conditional status limited him to 10 starts that included eight missed cuts.

T-No. 231 Sangmoon Bae

Best finish : 61st in Puerto Rico

Made just one cut in his four starts.

Harris, Walz rally in Las Vegas at end of week-long swing state tour

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Just 86 days remain until America votes for the next president.

Vice President Kamala Harris and Tim Walz brought their campaign to Las Vegas Saturday at the Thomas and Mack Center. The details of the rally, including where and when it would be held, weren’t announced until earlier in the day, but word got out fast as an estimated crowd of 12,000 packed the arena.

FOX5’s Kim Passoth was there as the Vice President arrived at Harry Reid International Airport and with the press pool in the motorcade to the rally.

It was a rock star’s welcome as Harris walked out to the podium, music blasting and the crowd cheering.

“Her confidence is jumping off the screen. She is confident, and I believe that she can take this country to the next level,” shared Tilminah Archibald. “She has the younger vote. She has the women vote. She has the black vote,” contended Maya Johnson.

“We know this will be a close election to the very end and let’s not pay too much attention to the polls because we have some hard work ahead of us,” Harris told the crowd of supporters.

“We waited outside in 110-degree weather in line for hours,” revealed Johnson.

According to the Associated Press, about 4,000 people did not make it inside the rally. VP nominee Tim Walz thanked those inside and addressed those who were kept out.

“I understand because of the heat, they had to close the doors early and turn thousands of folks away but don’t worry we are going to be back a lot,” Walz reported.

Harris appealed directly to Las Vegas voters and specifically addressed the culinary workers in the crowd.

“We will continue our fight for working families of America including to raise the minimum wage and eliminate taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers,” Harris promised.

It was one week ago that Harris announced the Minnesota Governor as her running mate. Their trip to Las Vegas capped off a week of crisscrossing the country on a swing state tour trying to secure battleground states.

Kamala Harris emphasizes joy and policy differences at Las Vegas rally

Portrait of Mark Robison

Updated with new crowd size information from the Harris-Walz campaign in Nevada.

LAS VEGAS – In the whirlwind presidential contest, Vice President Kamala Harris staked a different path from President Joe Biden in her first Nevada visit as the Democratic nominee.

Biden had hammered on the view that Donald Trump is an "existential threat" to the nation and exhibited a sense of disgust toward the former president’s behavior. They were dark campaign events, not too dissimilar from Trump’s own rallies that often focus on violent criminals crossing the border to rape and murder Americans.

At the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas before 15,000 boisterous supporters Saturday, Harris emphasized joy, shared values and specific policy differences with Trump. During 30 minutes of remarks, she expressed no anger toward Trump and no disrespect toward his supporters. If the campaign’s tone has a predecessor, it would be Barack Obama’s message of hope and change from 2008.

“We are running this campaign on behalf of all Americans from red states to blue states, from the heartland to the coast, and when elected, we will govern on behalf of all Americans,” Harris said.

Patriotic chants from the crowd of “USA, USA” peppered the rally.

“We are here together because we love our country, and I do believe it is the highest form of patriotism to fight for the ideals of our country,” she said.

Kamala Harris on border security

Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, did not shy away from issues during the rally that Democrats and Republicans often clash over.

The border may be the No. 1 criticism of Republicans against the Biden administration, with Harris attacked as a failed “border czar.”

“We know our immigration system is broken,” Harris said, “and we know what it takes to fix it: comprehensive reform that includes, yes, strong border security and an earned pathway to citizenship.”

She referenced a border security package negotiated by Republican Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma.

“Trump doesn't want to fix this problem,” Harris said. “He talks a big game about border security — he talks a big game about a lot of things — but he does not walk the walk. Earlier this year, we had a chance to pass the toughest bipartisan border security bill in decades, but Donald Trump tanked the bill because he thought it would help him win an election.

“Well, when I am president, I will sign that bill into law.”

Harris-Walz on gun rights

A gun owner and hunter , Walz expressed support for the gun rights contained in the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment but added, “We also believe in commonsense gun violence laws.”

Harris went further.

“We who believe in the freedom to live safe from gun violence will finally pass an assault weapons ban,” she said.

The joy of politics

The Harris-Walz campaign rally — part of a weeklong swing-state tour to build on the momentum of Harris’ move to the top of the Democratic ticket — had the feel of a concert rather than a recitation of political stump speeches.

A DJ got the crowd motivated with a set focused on pop hits that got people to their feet dancing for almost two hours.

This positive vibe also worked its way into Walz’s remarks.

He thanked Harris for reminding “us that this work can be about goodness.”

“It can be about smiling,” he said. “It's tough work, but we can be happy doing it. And Kamala Harris has done something that we will ever be grateful for her: She has brought out the joy in our politics.”

Reno City Councilman Devon Reese, who flew down for the event, echoed those comments.

“I’ve never experienced anything like this in my 50 years,” he said.

“It’s amazing to see people from all walks of life, all ages, all faiths, all ethnic backgrounds and all parts of the state embrace the positive message and campaigning of the Harris-Walz team.”
