Country sensation Lindsay Ell will open for Jaren Johnston and the boys

Country-tinged rockers ( and part-time Planet Rock presenters ) The Cadillac Three return to the UK this summer with their long-awaited Hillbilly Hypnotized Tour after a previous set of dates had to be axed due to Covid cases in the band . Underlining their country credentials, they’ll be supported at all eight of their headline shows by Lindsay Ell, the award-winning multi-instrumentalist whose music has accumulated some 200 million global streams.

“We are thrilled to be adding our good friend Lindsay Ell to the Hillbilly Hypnotized Tour in the UK,” enthuses frontman Jaren Johnston. “Lindsay is an incredible musician and will make this tour really special. We cannot wait to get back and see our friends in the UK; we are counting down the days.”

The Cadillac Three , who as well as being nominated for the Best International Band Award in The Rocks 2022 recently received a second consecutive Group of the Year nomination at the Academy of Country Music Awards, released their fifth studio album ‘Tabasco and Sweet Tea’ in 2020.

It was an album that injected some funk into their trademark southern rock sound. The forthcoming tour will be the first chance for their UK following to experience tracks from both that album and its predecessor, the critically acclaimed ‘Country Fuzz’, alongside highlights from the band’s decade-long career.

Calgary-born singer Ell’s debut album was named Billboard’s Country Album of the Year in 2017 with its follow up (‘Heart Theory’) earning multiple Canadian Album of the Year nominations. 2022 will see Ell continue to host hit TV programme ‘Canada’s Got Talent’ and appear as direct support for Shania Twain just before landing in the UK.

The Cadillac Three, completed by drummer Neil Mason and lap steel/bassist Kelby Ray, host a regular hour-long show called Garage Radio on Planet Rock. Recorded in the band’s native Nashville, Tennessee, it follows on from Loz Guest’s Stateside show , airing from 8pm to 9pm.

The Cadillac Three, Roundhouse, London live review

Jaren Johnston, Kelby Ray and Neil Mason – better known as The Cadillac Three – have been wowing audiences with their blend of rock, funk and country since they released their self-titled debut album in 2012. After five years away from the UK due to the pandemic, the past two weeks they've been back here on their Hillbilly Hypnotised tour, culminating last night with a sold-out show at the Roundhouse in London.

The trio arrived on stage to roars from the audience, before launching into ‘Hard Out Here For A Country Boy' from their 2020 album ‘Country Fuzz'. Right from the off it was clear they were bringing the party, with Jaren spinning about the stage and spraying beer high above the speakers. Their energy was fantastic and the thunderous applause at the end of the song showed that the crowd was as delighted to have them back as they were to be performing here again.

From there it was almost two hours of non-stop rock and roll. From the driving ‘Blue El Camino' to the swagger of ‘The Jam', via the bluesy ‘Back It Up' and the defiant ‘I'm Southern', the group didn't let up for a second and showed that they're able to completely hold an audience in the palm of their hand. They also encouraged the crowd to clap and sing along throughout, which they did with great gusto on the likes of ‘Peace Love And Dixie' and fan favourite ‘Bury Me In My Boots'.

One thing that struck me throughout the show was how musically solid TC3 are as a band. Jaren in particular had brilliant showmanship, clambering onto speakers during ‘Soundtrack To A Six Pack' and playing his guitar at such a fast pace you could practically see smoke coming off it in ‘Slide'. He also had great charisma up on stage, cracking jokes throughout the set and reminiscing about their first trip to the UK playing for 300 people at Camden Assembly. Meanwhile, Neil was an absolute machine behind the drums, keeping things tight throughout and blasting through tracks with barely a pause for breath in some cases, whilst Kelby got to show off his incredible steel guitar skills with a killer solo on ‘Whiskey Soaked Redemption', which the group dedicated to Whiskey Myers.

For me some of the standout moments came on the slower songs. ‘Tennessee Mojo' provided a slinky, bluesy highlight early in the set, whilst Jaren's moving renditions of ‘Hank And Jesus' – dedicated to his dad, who passed away earlier this year – as well as ‘White Lightning', ‘Take Me To The Bottom' and his solo ‘Runnin' Red Lights' showed that the group are just as comfortable showing their emotional side as they are rocking out, as well as his skill as a songwriter. That said, I also loved the sense of fun they brought to songs like ‘Crackin' Cold Ones With The Boys' and the anthemic ‘American Slang', with its fast-paced chorus that had the crowd chanting along throughout. Their funk section featuring support act Lindsay Ell was also a real treat, particularly ‘Head Over Wheels' and ‘Sweet Southern Spirit' – both of which put me in mind of early Red Hot Chili Peppers – whilst ‘Tabasco And Sweet Tea', the title track of their most recent album, had more of a sultry groove.

TC3 closed the show with arguably their signature song, ‘The South'. Right from the start they encouraged the audience to join in, which they did with aplomb on both the quickfire chorus and the chants of the bridge. For me it sums up everything about them – the love for their fans, their skills as musicians and lyricists (with the song still sounding as new as it did on release) and the sheer drive they're able to bring to their performances after ten years in the game. Afterwards, they snapped a photo with the audience to the strains of Rage Against The Machine's ‘The Ghost Of Tom Joad', before tossing picks and hats into the audience who loudly demanded more – I genuinely think if there wasn't a curfew most of the crowd would still be there now!

Overall The Cadillac Three produced a masterclass in rock and roll, showing off their incredible musicianship and the sheer diversity of their unique sound. They had fantastic energy throughout and still sound incredibly fresh, and clearly love playing for UK crowds as much as we adore watching them. Midway through the set, Jaren promised “if y'all keep coming back we'll keep coming back”, and on the strength of this show and the tour as a whole, it hopefully won't be quite as long a wait before they're back on this side of the pond.

The Cadillac Three announce Hillbilly Hypnotized UK Tour.

Country fuzz heroes The Cadillac Three will return to the UK this summer with their brand-new  Hillbilly Hypnotized Tour . Having had to reschedule their much-anticipated 10th Anniversary UK Tour at the end of 2021 due to the pandemic, the acclaimed Nashville trio will instead be bringing a whole new live show for 2022. However tickets for the original tour dates will remain valid in each city.

THE CADILLAC THREE  have announced a headlining UK tour!

Set to take place in December this year, the tour will see the country rock trio touring across the UK and Ireland in a headlining run in celebration of their ten year anniversary. Support for the tour comes from  BRENT COBB . Tickets are available now and can be purchased here .

Speaking about the tour, the band says, “we are so excited to celebrate our ten year anniversary with a proper headlining tour of the UK and Ireland with our good buddy BRENT COBB coming along as support! We can’t wait to bring our Tennessee mojo back over & mix it up with y’all! After the last year we could all use some cheers, beers & hallelujah’s. Let’s party! “ Brent Cobb adds, “I can’t believe it’s been so long since since I’ve been over to pick a song or few. The Cadillac Three will return to the UK this summer to play for some of their most long-standing and vociferous international fans. The Hillbilly Hypnotized Tour will mark the southern rock trio’s latest return across the Atlantic, after they were forced to postpone their 10th Anniversary UK Tour at the end of last year because of the pandemic.

Instead of dwelling on that anniversary, the group are forging ahead with a new live show, but tickets for the December 2021 dates will of course be valid in each city they play. The itinerary includes a headline night at the Long Road Festival and a showpiece London date at the famous Roundhouse. The group are due to return to live action in the US in April, after dates this month and next were also postponed. Tickets for the UK tour are available now at www.livenation.co.uk .

“We can’t wait to get back over to play for our UK friends in August & September!,” say the Cadillac Three. “To say it’s been too long is an understatement, but it will make it even sweeter when we finally get to be together!”

For the second year in a row, the three-piece are nominated for Group of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards. The 57th annual ACMs will take place on March 7 and will stream live and without commercial interruption on Prime Video at 8 pm/ET/7 pm CT/5pm PT from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. They’re shortlisted this year alongside Lady A , Little Big Town , Midand, and Old Dominion.

Acclaimed Nashville trio The Cadillac Three have announced their upcoming UK tour, with dates throughout May 2024.

The band will take to the road next year with their ‘The Years Go Fast’ tour, which will be taking place in May 2024 and concluding with a headline performance at The Royal Albert Hall on May 17th as part of Highways Festival.

Speaking about their return to the UK, the band comment, “We are excited to fly ‘The Years Go Fast’ tour across the pond in 2024! We’ve been plotting and planning for a long time to make this the best tour yet.

“We’re bringing our dear friend and special guest, Stephen Wilson Jr., and are excited to introduce you to Willy Cobb. To top it all off, we are headlining Highways at the Royal Albert Hall! We can’t wait to see you next May!”
