Oman announces six investment opportunities in tourism

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) launched a few investment opportunities in the tourism and waste management sectors at Oman Convention and Exhibition Center today.

Asila bint Salem al Samsamiya, Undersecretary, MOCIIP, said that six investment opportunities in the tourism sector will be offered to the tune of RO974 million, while 12 opportunities worth RO528 million will be offered in the waste management sector.

The announcement was made in the presence of Salem bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, officials, ambassadors, and representatives of several private sector companies, businessmen, and investors.

This launch is part of the ministry’s initiatives to find investment opportunities in various sectors, in partnership with the Muscat National Development and Investment Company (ASAS), the Omani Tourism Development Company (Omran), the Omani Environmental Services Holding Company (Bee’ah), and the Jabal Busher Heights Real Estate Development Company, where some investment opportunities are available for feasibility studies. and market assessment studies.

According to Omran Group, the most prominent tourist projects under development are Madinat al Irfan, Hay al Sharq with a total area of 1.6 million sqm, and Musandam Adventure Project with an area of 275,000 sqm, and the Yiti tourism project with an 11 million sqm.

Through these initiatives and plans, the ministry aims to attract qualitative investments in the sectors of economic diversification, create an appropriate environment for the success and development of all investments, and empower the private sector to invest.

The investment opportunities will also be published through the Invest in Oman platform, and those wishing to invest can enter via https://investinoman.om/ and register. They can also access 72 other investment opportunities on that platform.

The Sultanate has made many facilities to bring investment to the Sultanate of Oman, including updating the foreign capital investment law, allowing 100% ownership, and many incentives and guarantees for the foreign investor.

An investor residence program for investment in the Sultanate was launched for periods ranging from 5 to 10 years, subject to extension as per procedures.

It was also decided to create a working group to coordinate the actions of state authorities, local governments and business entities in the implementation of the project;

The project is included in the register of investment projects of the Novosibirsk region.

07/08/2015 - The facilities of MSC/Razdolnoye Landfill and MSC/Verkh-Tula Landfill are included in the territorial scheme for handling production and consumption waste in the Novosibirsk Region;

On December 23, 2015, Ecology-Novosibirsk LLC sent an official proposal to the Government of the Novosibirsk Region to conclude a concession agreement in order to implement the investment project under consideration in accordance with Federal Law No. on concession agreements).

On July 22, 2016, a concession agreement was signed between LLC Ecology-Novosibirsk (as a concessionaire) and the Government of the Novosibirsk Region (as a concessionaire) . The project includes two waste sorting plants for household waste with a capacity of 400 thousand tons each, two landfills with a capacity of 297.2 thousand tons and all the necessary infrastructure. The agreement was concluded for a period of 40 years.

In October 2017, 75% of Ecology-Novosibirsk LLC was bought by a Russian investment holding - VIS Group. During the 3-4 quarter. In 2017, VIS Group specialists conducted a comprehensive analysis of the project, developed proposals for its optimization and submitted it to the leadership of the Novosibirsk Region.

In 1-2 sq. 2018, Ecology-Novosibirsk LLC actively cooperated with the working groups on the project. As a result, optimal proposals were developed for the placement of waste sorting complexes, import substitution and the use of new technologies.

In July 2018, Ecology-Novosibirsk LLC, managed by VIS Group, submitted an application for a tender to select a regional MSW management operator in the Novosibirsk Region. The application was approved by the decision of the competition commission. In the event of an agreement with Ecology-Novosibirsk LLC and taking into account the scale of the forthcoming work, a separate division will be formed in the company to perform the functions of a regional operator.

On July 25, 2018, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services and Energy of the Novosibirsk Region and Ecology-Novosibirsk LLC on the organization of activities for the management of municipal solid waste. In accordance with Article 24.6 of the Federal Law "On Production and Consumption Waste", from the date of the Agreement, the company was assigned the status of Regional operator for the treatment of MSW in the Novosibirsk Region .
