CCL-Carnival opens 2025 Alaskan cruises from Seattle (ships Spirit and Luminosa)

CCL-Carnival Cruise Line is expanding its 2025 Alaskan schedule out of Seattle WA with the ships Carnival Spirit and Carnival Luminosa .

On offer are also three longer (Carnival Journeys) relocation itineraries (RepositionCruises.com) - two Transatlantic crossings (from Barcelona Spain to Miami Florida , and Miami to Seattle) and a Transpacific crossing from Brisbane Queensland Australia to Seattle with stops in Japan.

Alaska Sailings:

• Carnival Luminosa: 7-day Alaska sailings departing every Thursday from May 1st, 2025, to September 11th, 2025, with stops in Alaska and Victoria, British Columbia Canada .
• Carnival Spirit: 21 week-long sailings departing Seattle from April 14th, 2025, to September 9th, 2025, with various Alaskan ports and Victoria.

Carnival Journeys:

• Carnival Luminosa: 29-day Transpacific crossing from Brisbane to Seattle, visiting Japan and Alaska.
• Carnival Spirit: Two Transatlantic cruises from Barcelona to Miami and Miami to Seattle, along with a 10-day Carnival Journeys Alaska cruise and a 15-day Hawaii roundtrip cruise.

CCL aims to cater to tourists seeking longer and more adventurous vacations through its Carnival Journeys program. Over 330,000 guests have enjoyed this program since its launch in 2015.

Carnival Cruise Line has unveiled sailings for the 2025 Alaska season and more Carnival Journeys sailings. These offerings include voyages to Alaska, as well as transatlantic and transpacific journeys departing from Seattle, Barcelona, and Brisbane.

Deployment Highlights:

• Carnival introduces two ships for the 2025 Alaska season: Carnival Spirit and Carnival Luminosa.
• All-new seven-day Alaska sailings aboard Carnival Luminosa start on May 1, 2025.
• Carnival Luminosa will offer a special 29-day transpacific Carnival Journeys sailing featuring multiple stops in Japan
• Carnival Spirit’s Alaska sailings kick off on April 14, 2025, with a range of week-long itineraries.

Two Ships for the 2025 Alaska Season

For the 2025 Alaska season, Carnival is deploying two vessels—Carnival Spirit and Carnival Luminosa—to launch from Seattle.

Carnival Luminosa

Seven-day Alaska sailings departing every Thursday on Carnival Luminosa begin on May 1, 2025, and continue through Sept. 11, 2025. After departing Seattle, the ship cruises Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan, Alaska, and Victoria, British Columbia.

Before beginning its Alaska sailings, Carnival Luminosa is scheduled to leave Brisbane, Australia, on April 3, 2025, for a 29-day itinerary that ends in Seattle. Featured stops include Anchorage, Ketchikan, and Juneau in Alaska and Hiroshima, Okinawa, Hakodate, Kushiro, and Tokyo in Japan.

Carnival Spirit

The Alaska season onboard Carnival Spirit offers 21 week-long sailings departing Seattle, cruising Tracy Arm Fjord, and stopping in ports Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, Alaska, and Victoria, British Columbia. The sailings begin on April 14, 2025, and continue through the summer, with the final departure on September 9, 2025. The ship will also sail an eight-day cruise departing May 5, 2025, adding Icy Strait Point as a port of call.

On September 26, 2025, Spirit will travel from Hawaii to Seattle. During the 15-day roundtrip, stops include Kahului, Maui; Honolulu, Oahu; Hilo; Nawiliwili, Kauai; and Victoria, British Columbia. It will also go from Seattle to New Orleans for a 16-day Panama Canal cruise that leaves on October 11, 2025.

Since its launch in 2015, the Carnival Journeys program has become a favored choice for adventurous cruisers. Now boasting over 85 upcoming and available sailings, the program aims to satisfy the wanderlust of over 230,000 guests by 2025.

Carnival Journeys are specialized offerings by the cruise line known for their longer itineraries and more unique destinations . They frequently sail during the off-peak cruise season. Since its launch in 2015, the Carnival Journeys program has become a favored choice for longer sailings and will carry 230,000 guests by 2025.

You can make it a 14-day cruise from San Francisco to Alaska and Mexico in May, June, July, and August! You would book these cruises separately, and you would be doing what’s called back-to-back cruises.

🌴 Cruise to Alaska and Hawaii ! In September 2025, the Carnival Legend does a 15-day cruise to Hawaii from San Francisco round trip, which follows a 10-day Alaska cruise. So you can make it an epic 25-day cruise from San Francisco to Alaska and Hawaii ! (You’ll need to like sea days, though!) Similarly, you would book these cruises separately and be doing back-to-back cruises.

3. 11-Day Inside Passage with Glacier Bay National Park in 2024 on Crown Princess

4. 11-Day Alaska Inside Passage in 2024 on Crown Princess

Another Alaska cruise from San Francisco is the 11-day Alaska cruise without Glacier Bay National Park. Most Alaska cruises have at least one glacier sea day, and on this cruise the glacier sea day will be at Endicott Arm to see Dawes Glacier. There are cruises like this throughout the summer, along with spring and fall.

🏔 What glacier sea days does this cruise have? Most cruises go to Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier for the glacier scenic cruising day. There is a cruise in July that goes to Tracy Arm as the scenic cruising day. Unless you are on an early to mid May cruise, there is likely a wilderness excursion offered on the glacier sea day, which is a small boat ride directly from the cruise ship that will take you closer to the glacier! These excursions tend to sell out quickly.

Seattle, a city on Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest, is surrounded by water, mountains and evergreen forests, and contains thousands of acres of parkland. Washington State’s largest city, it’s home to a large tech industry, with Microsoft and Amazon headquartered in its metropolitan area. The futuristic Space Needle, a 1962 World’s Fair legacy, is its most iconic landmark.

Tracy Arm, like Glacier Bay, is another fjord in the southeast that features tidewater glaciers and steep 2000 foot granite walls that rise straight out of the water. This steep-sided fjord, 50 miles southeast of Juneau, is highlighted by a pair of tidewater glaciers and a gallery of icebergs that float down the length of it. This 30-mile arm was an ideal choice for novice kayakers as calm water is the norm here due to the protection the steep and narrow fjord wall provide. You are almost guaranteed of seeing seals inside the arm and there is a good possibility of spotting whales on the into the arm.

Skagway, with a population of 862, is located in the Upper Lynn Canal at the northernmost point on the Inside Passage in Southeast Alaska, 100 air miles north of Juneau and 110 road miles south of Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. The City of Skagway is geographically the largest city in Alaska with 455 square land miles. Skagway's history and spectacular natural setting combine to create unparalleled sightseeing and recreation opportunities. Poke around on your own, or select from a variety of commercial tours. Either way, you will be amply rewarded with the sights and activities in and around Skagway.

Considered the "gem" of Southeast Alaska, the city is nestled against the ocean, tucked tight against the mountains and back-dropped by the lush green of the largest national forest in the United States, the Tongass. Humpback whales feed in Icy Strait above North Chichagof Island, an important travel corridor for many marine mammals, including federally threatened Steller's sea lions. The area's coastal marshes and mudflats are important as resting areas for shorebirds and waterfowl, and provide spring feeding areas for brown bears. Marbled murrelets feed in large numbers within the waters of Icy Strait and nest in the island's coastal old growth forest.

One look at lovely Sitka and you'll know why Alexander Baranof, governor of the Russian American Company, decided to build his "castle" here. With views of island-studded waters and stately spruce forests reaching to the water's edge, Sitka is considered Alaska's most beautiful seaside town. Sitka's past is a unique blend of Tlingit culture and Russian history. Our historic and scenic community is situated on Baranof Island, nestled between forested mountains and the great Pacific Ocean, on the outer waters of Alaska's Inside Passage. Sitka offers a combination of Native culture, Russian history, and Alaskan wilderness which will provide a diverse and unequaled experience. Wildlife adds to Sitka's natural beauty. Carnival Opens More Sailings in 2025, Including Alaska

Carnival Cruise Line is unveiling more of its 2025-26 deployment by opening sailings to Alaska from Seattle on two ships: the Carnival Spirit and the Carnival Luminosa.

The company also opened for sale several Carnival Journeys cruises onboard the two ships, including a transatlantic sailing from Barcelona, Spain to Miami and a 29-day transpacific voyage from Brisbane, Australia to Seattle that features several stops in Japan.

“The wildlife, well-preserved natural wonder, the incredible experiences on shore and the welcoming locals are just some of the reasons why Alaska cruises are so popular with guests, and also why they tend to book quickly,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

“These two ships will also build on our popular Carnival Journeys program, making more truly bucket-list destinations available on opposite sides of the world – with Carnival Luminosa’s amazing 29-day transpacific voyage visiting Japan and Carnival Spirit’s two cruises ahead of Alaska season, which will take the ship from Barcelona to Miami and then from Miami to San Francisco.”

The Carnival Luminosa’s 2025 program in Alaska includes seven-day cruises departing from Seattle every Thursday.

Set to be repeated between May 1, 2025 and Sept. 11, 2025, the ship’s regular itinerary features visits to Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, Alaska, as well as Victoria, British Columbia.

Ahead of its Alaska season, the Carnival Luminosa will also offer a Carnival Journeys cruise. The 29-day transpacific cruise is scheduled to depart from Brisbane, Australia, on April 3, 2025.

The itinerary includes “spectacular destinations,” Carnival said, such as Okinawa, Hiroshima, Tokyo, Hakodate and Kushiro in Japan, as well as Anchorage, Juneau and Ketchikan in Alaska.

Carnival Spirit

The Carnival Spirit’s Alaska season will include 21 week-long sailings that depart from Seattle and cruise Tracy Arm Fjord and stop in ports Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, Alaska, as well as Victoria, British Columbia.

The sailings begin on April 14, 2025 and continue through the summer, with the final departure on Sept. 9, 2025.

The ship will also sail an eight-day cruise departing May 5, 2025 that adds Icy Strait Point as a port of call.

Ahead of its Alaska season, Carnival Spirit will offer two Carnival Journeys cruises. The first is a 14-day transatlantic cruise that departs March 16, 2025 from Barcelona and arrives in Miami, with visits to Malaga and Cádiz, Spain, as well Ponta Delgada, Azores and Bermuda.

The second is a 15-day Journeys cruise from Miami to Seattle, departing March 30, 2025, transiting the Panama Canal and visiting Cartagena de Indias, Colombia; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The Carnival Spirit will conclude the Alaska season with a 10-day roundtrip Carnival Journeys Alaska cruise that departs Seattle on Sept. 16, 2025 and visits seven destinations, including Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway, Juneau, Icy Strait Point, Sitka, and Ketchikan in Alaska, as well as Victoria, British Columbia.

Following her Alaska season, Carnival Spirit will also set sail on a 15-day roundtrip Carnival Journeys cruise to Hawaii from Seattle.

Departing on Sept. 26, 2025, the itinerary visits Honolulu, Oahu; Kahului, Maui; Nawiliwili, Kauai; and Hilo in Hawaii, as well as Victoria, British Columbia.

The ship will then sail from Seattle to New Orleans, on a 16-day Panama Canal cruise that departs Oct. 11, 2025.

The itinerary includes visits to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and Puntarenas, Costa Rica, then transits the Panama Canal and stops in Cartagena, Colombia as well. To see all sailings available aboard Carnival Spirit, click here.

Additional 2025-26 deployment details will be announced soon, Carnival said, with more itineraries becoming available in the coming weeks.

I was looking for the September 14 day Spirit cruise from Seattle they are doing in 2024 but they are not offering it in 2025. They are doing a 14 day Hawaii cruise instead.

I can't find anything for 2025 in Alaska. The website stops at Sept. 2024.

I just checked the Carnival website again and there are Alaska cruises from April to September 2025. All from Seattle on the Spirit and Luminosa. None from San Francisco, maybe they will add those later?

I went ahead and booked the 10 day Spirit Journey 9/25 to Alaska from Seattle.  I was hoping for a 14 day one also.

Princess, Holland America and NCL are all open for 2025 Alaskan season.   Just booked a 7 day on the Discovery Princess out of Seattle, followed up with a 9 day on the NCL Joy, with a day in between to visit my daughter.   Princess and Holland America have been renowned for being the best lines for Alaska.

The Ruby Princess is doing 11 eleven day cruises and 1 twenty two day cruise to Alaska from SF in the 2025 season.

Yeah, despite being a Carnival fan, Alaska is best done on either Princess or HAL in my view.

I had the 14 day September 2024 Spirit booked and changed it to a 14 day September 2025 Holland.  Ended up being less money, better ports and got all the perks so only need to pay for shore excursions above the $400 credit.

I priced the Venezia in Alaska for Sept 2025, and Carnival's price was within $400.00 of the Eurodam, with grats. But the Eurodam also included drinks, specialty restaurant, wi-fi, and OBC that Carnival didn't. I'm also booked on the Ovation of the Seas for Sept 2024, which is $1100.00 less than Carnival. I have no idea what they're thinking.

The HAL advantage is the incredible amount of open deck space that allows you to really see Alaska. HAL is the only line (that I am aware of) that opens the bow and upper decks to view the glaciers. In addition their walk around promenade with classic wooden deck chairs provides another great vantage point.

Glad to see that you took the blinders off and saw what the competition is offering.  Many Carnival devotees only cruise on Carnival and never consider any other line.  It's their vacation money of course, but there is great value in the packages offered by HAL and Princess.

We did Alaska for the first time this year on the Majestic Princess for 14 days.  Liked it so much we're going back in 2025 for a 7/9 day S2S with a day off in between.  Discovery Princess and NCL Joy.

For me it was trying to get to Diamond and now it is where do I want to go and what do I get for my money.  Can go wash a load of laundry myself if I need it.

We currently have 5 booked on Carnival, 2 different B2B's on the Celebration and 10 days on the Venezia next May.  The cruise after that is when my DH finally hits Diamond and our Carnival bookings with be sporadic at that point.  We like to cruise on new builds and Carnival may not have another one till 2030.

They also bring on Naturalists and Alaskan Geographic (think Nat Geo but expert focus is AK) to talk about the wildlife, history, etc and answer questions. Kiddos can participate in Jr Ranger programs and everyone can get a Glacier Bay National Park stamp. All at no extra charge. 

Plus their signature Dutch Pea Soup served complimentary in various locations while visiting Glacier Bay. 

Yes, HAL is a great choice for AK.

Carnival Unveils Some of Its 2026 and 2027 Sailings, All Featuring Half Moon Cay

Carnival Cruise Line on Tuesday unveiled itineraries for seven ships for the 2026 and 2027 seasons from four of its most popular U.S. homeports—Miami, Port Canaveral, Galveston, and Baltimore.

Most notably, the itineraries include stops at Half Moon Cay, Carnival’s private island set for a significant expansion. The destination, which has become a major selling point for many travel advisors , will get a private beach, more dining and beverage experiences, and a new pier that will allow some ships, including Mardi Gras, to dock for the first time. More details of those plans should come soon.

In the meantime, among the itineraries announced this week are:

• Seven-day, Western and Eastern Caribbean sailings on Carnival Celebration out of Miami through spring 2027.
• Seven-day Eastern and Western sailings on Mardi Gras out of Port Canaveral into spring 2027.
• A mix of seven-day and 14-day sailings out of Port Canaveral, seasonally, on Carnival Venezia. That includes three 14-day Carnival Journeys cruises.
• Six-day and eight-day cruises to the Western Caribbean and the Bahamas on Carnival Jubilee starting in September 2026 from Galveston.
• Six-day, seven-day, and eight-day cruises from Galveston on Carnival Dream, along with some 14-day Carnival Journeys cruises to the Eastern and Southern Caribbean on the same ship.
• Four-day Mexico and Western Caribbean cruises on Carnival Breeze, along with an eight-day option with more diverse port stops, from Galveston.  
• Week-long sailings on Carnival Pride from Baltimore that feature an overnight stay in Bermuda, along with three 14-day Carnival Journeys sailings.
