Russell Brand Performs for Adoring Fans Following Rape Allegations (Video)

His performance went on despite multiple sexual assault accusations coming out earlier in the day

russell brand tour bipolarisation review

Russell Brand fans cheered for the influencer, comedian and alleged rapist in his first public appearance since allegations that he sexually assaulted multiple women came to light in an extensive investigation by the Times, the Sunday Times and the U.K.’s Channel 4. The show was part of his “Bipolarisation” stand-up comedy tour.

Early in the night, Brand told the crowd in the 2,000-seat theater, “I love you. I love you. Thank you. There’s some things I absolutely cannot talk about and hopefully you appreciate that I’m gonna give you everything I’ve got.”

Brand performed at Wembley’s Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, arriving nearly an hour late, according to media reports. The audience was told that he was stuck in traffic. Brand also ended the show early, notably before the airing of the television portion of the investigation into his behavior.

It also recommended the show for those 16 years and older.

One fan who enthusiastically attended the show posted on social media criticizing the paparazzi, writing , “The paps at Russell Brand’s shows are pure scum.”

Brand is next scheduled to play Tuesday at the Theatre Royal Windsor. The show is sold out .

Russell Brand ’s remaining live shows on his Bipolarisation tour have been postponed following allegations of sexual assault against the comedian .

Over the weekend, a joint investigation between Channel 4 ’s Dispatches , The Times and The Sunday Times revealed accusations from four women alleging Brand, 48, subjected them to sexual abuse, rape and emotional abuse on occasions between 2006 and 2013.

He has since vehemently denied these “very serious allegations”. The outlets have since reported that several more women have come forward with similar allegations, which are now being “rigorously checked”.

In light of these accusations, the final shows for Brand’s Bipolarisation tour have been postponed.

“We are postponing these few remaining addiction charity fundraiser shows, we don’t like doing it – but we know you’ll understand,” the tour’s promoters announced in a one-line statement.

Russell Brand news – latest: Comedian’s tour dates postponed as Met receives alleged sexual assault report

Brand was scheduled to perform on Tuesday (19 September) at the Theatre Royal Windsor, with later dates in Wolverhampton and Plymouth.

The Theatre Royal said it will be “offering ticket refunds in line with our Terms & Conditions of sale”.

Russell Brand

The cancellation of the rest of his live shows comes as the Metropolitan police confirmed that officers are “in contact with” a woman who, on Sunday (17 September), made a report to the force about an alleged sexual assault that happened in Soho in 2003.

Brand’s publishing deal with Pan Macmillan’s imprint Bluebird has also been suspended.

Channel 4, meanwhile, has removed a number of TV episodes in which he starred, including a 2019 episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off and the Big Brother box sets that he appeared on.

The programme has said that it is launching an internal enquiry into Brand’s alleged behaviour, encouraging “anyone who is aware of such behaviour to contact us directly”.

In his YouTube video, posted on Friday (15 September) ahead of the report and Dispatches documentary, Brand said that he was “very promiscuous” at the time of the alleged incidents, but claimed that “the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual”.

Russell Brand: Is 'Bipolarisation' tour cancelled after Dispatches show reveals sexual assault allegations?

At least one venue has confirmed the show has been "postponed"

One of the venues which Russell Brand was due to perform at later this month as part of his tour has confirmed that the show has been "postponed".

Russell Brand still performed to a sell-out crowd in London on Saturday (16 September), despite details of a number of serious sexual allegations against him, including rape, sexual assaults and abuse , being published in The Times just hours earlier - but doubts had been cast over whether he would finish the remaining three dates of the tour.

Now, the Theatre Royal in Windsor have released a statement from the promoters of Brand's Bipolarisation tour to say: "We are postponing these few remaining addiction charity fundraiser shows, we don't like doing it - but we know you'll understand." In a follow-up statement, the venue confirmed they will be offering ticket refunds to those who had bought them.Brand, who denied all the allegations in a video he uploaded to his social media platforms before the article was published, took to the stage at Wembley Park theatre as part of his ‘Bipolarisation’ tour, which began last month. He arrived on stage an hour later than scheduled, according to the BBC , and told the 2,000 strong crowd that “there are obviously some things that I absolutely cannot talk about”. He then continued with his show, which was happening at the same time as a Channel 4 Dispatches programme was being aired about the allegations, and received a standing ovation at the end.

So, will any of the remaining three 'Bipolarisation' tour dates still go ahead? Here’s what we know so far.

What is the ‘Bipolarisation’ tour?

The ‘Bipolarisation’ tour is the latest stand-up show from comedian, actor and political activist Russell Brand . It is described on his official website as the following: “Rules and rule breaking! Democracy and freedom! We reach conclusions from mass confusion by polling the live audience. We want to hear YOUR opinion. After amassing a movement of 25 million people across his digital channels, the Community festival and the live show Stay Free; the cultural and political commentator and award-winning British comedian is back on stage.”

Where is Russell Brand due to perform?

There are three dates left on the ‘Bipolarisation’ tour. They are as follows:

Tuesday 19 September: Theatre Royal, Windsor

Friday 22 September: The Pavillions, Plymouth

Thursday 28 September: The Civic at the Halls, Wolverhampton

Are the final ‘Bipolarisation’ tour dates going ahead?

At the time of writing, at around 5pm on Monday 18 September, it has been confirmed that at least one of the show's has been "posponted", the Windsor Theatre Royal date were Brand was due to perform tomorrow (19 September). All references to the show have been removed from their website.

NationalWorld visited Brand’s official website at around the same time, however, and found a pop-up with the tour information still appears as soon as the homepage loads. The remaining two venues, The Civic at the Halls, Wolverhampton, and Plymouth's The Pavillions, also still have the tour poster and information listed under their ‘what’s on’ sections.

The Plymouth performance is listed as sold-out on the website, but there are still tickets available for the Wolverhampton date. At around 5pm on Monday (18 September), NationalWorld was able to click through to the booking system, select seats and proceed to the payment page, as if ready to purchase, so it would appear as though tickets can still be bought for this performance.

However, the statement from the tour promoters, shared by The Theatre Royal, Windsor, would suggest that all of the final three dates have been cancelled. NationalWorld has tried to contact all venues directly.

Brand has remained quiet on his social media platforms, with his last post being the video he posted on Friday night (Friday 15 September) where he said he “absolutely refute(s)” all the allegations against him. We will update this page with more information when we get it.

All Russell Brand shows axed or postponed as Met Police receive 'sex assault' complaint

In a statement shared with the Mirror this evening, Theatre Royal Windsor confirmed Russell Brand's performance at its venue tomorrow will not be going ahead as scheduled

russell brand tour bipolarisation review

  • 16:52, 18 Sep 2023
  • Updated 17:38, 18 Sep 2023

The promoters of Russell Brand's Bipolarisation tour have confirmed his upcoming shows have been cancelled.

Brand, who has denied allegations made against him in a Channel 4 Dispatches broadcast over the weekend, was due to perform at the Theatre Royal Windsor tomorrow night. In a statement shared with the Mirror this evening, the management team said: "We are postponing these few remaining addiction charity fundraiser shows, we don't like doing it - but we know you'll understand."

It comes after the actor and comedian has been accused of "rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse". Brand vehemently denies all allegations made against him from between 2006 and 2013. Revelations come after The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 show Dispatches revealed claims Brand raped, sexually assault and emotionally abused women in the mid-2000s, which he denies.

The allegations made against Brand include one woman named as "Alice" who claims she was sexually assaulted during a three-month relationship with him when she was 16 and still at school, according the Dispatches programme. She described his behaviour as "grooming" as he would allegedly provide her with scripts on how to deceive her parents into allowing her to visit him. Another woman called "Nadia" alleges in the TV show’s investigation that Brand raped her at his Los Angeles home.

A third claims he sexually assaulted her while she worked with him in Los Angeles and threatened to take legal action if she told anyone of the allegation. A fourth woman alleges she was sexually assaulted by Brand and that he was physically and emotionally abusive towards her.

In his denial, the stand-up comedian insisted he was facing a "litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks". In a video statement he said: "These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream and, as I have written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous. The relationships I had were absolutely, always consensual. I was always transparent about that.

"To see that transparency metastasised into something criminal, that I absolutely deny, makes me question is there another agenda at play." The Metropolitan Police have since said they have received an allegation of sexual assault in Soho, central London, in 2003. In a short statement, the force said: “On Sunday September 17, the Met received a report of a sexual assault which was alleged to have taken place in Soho in central London in 2003.

“Officers are in contact with the woman and will be providing her with support. We first spoke with The Sunday Times on Saturday September 16 and have since made further approaches to The Sunday Times and Channel 4 to ensure that anyone who believes they have been the victim of a sexual offence is aware of how to report this to the police.”

Brand broke his cover over the weekend, to perform a gig at the same time the Channel 4 Dispatches was broadcast. Taking to the stage the Get Him To The Greek star addressed the crowd of 2,000 fans at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre. Arriving an hour late, which was blamed on a traffic jam, Brand was greeted by some people in the crowd holding signs saying "We support you" and were heard sharing their distaste for the mainstream media.

Brand addressed the allegations, telling the crowd: "There are obviously some things that I absolutely cannot talk about and I appreciate that you will understand." Dressed in dark skinny jeans, a dark shirt and a dark jacket, he then said to the audience: "You came," and then "I appreciate you, I appreciate you," in regards to being late on stage.

Asking fans to not photograph him, he promised he would "do a fantastic show" and expressed how much he "appreciated their support" telling his them how much he loved them. Starting the gig with enthusiasm, it was reported that he was "distracted throughout" and constantly "referring to a piece of paper" during his gags. Powering through, he received a standing ovation from fans, to which he seemed "touched by the gesture" until it all came crashing down when he was faced with an army of paparazzi outside.

Tucker Carlson kicks off cross-country tour in Phoenix with prayers and Russell Brand

PHOENIX —  Right-wing personality Tucker Carlson kicked off his live tour Wednesday night in battleground Arizona to a packed arena.

But instead of delivering his usual fiery political rhetoric, Carlson focused opening night of his 16-date tour on his faith and mentioned Donald Trump by name only a handful of times.

“I just couldn’t wait to see other people who I’m on the same page with,” he said as the crowd roared with approval.

Joining him on stage was a barefoot Russell Brand, the British comedian and actor who recently converted to Christianity and was spotted at the Republican National Convention in July. In 2023 British media reported allegations that Brand had sexually and emotionally abused four women, which he denies.

Together, Carlson and Brand mostly delivered a Bible sermon surrounding their shared Christian identity and only tangentially touched on the presidential race.

“After this election, you are going to be the inheritors of the new United States of America,” Brand said. “I suppose, in particular, I’m encouraged by the joining of Trump’s Republican MAGA movement by Robert Kennedy.”

Carlson entered the Footprint Center to thunderous applause and a standing ovation following a video compilation that showed dystopian images of smash-and-grab robberies and excerpts of interviews with Democrat lawmakers, including Vice President Kamala Harris.

Brand closed the night by dropping to his knees and leading the crowd in prayer.

Outside, Phoenix resident Deirdre Mischelle Scanlan said the two were a natural fit on stage.

"They're free media," she said. "We share the apprehension about the deep state and how it seems like we're not getting the truth."

North Carolina resident Alexandrea Iverson, who planned a visit with family around Carlson's tour, said she felt politically inspired for the first time this election cycle.

"I'm a Kennedy supporter and if I say Kennedy's my guy, everybody says, 'Oh, isn't he a nut job?'" she said. "But not tonight."

Carlson, 55, was abruptly fired from Fox News last year and has since launched his own eponymous media company.

It’s difficult to track Carlson's official reach, but his podcast is No. 2 on Spotify. While there appear to be plenty of tickets available for each night of his 16-date tour, some VIP packages, which cost $1,600 and feature meet-and-greets with special guests including Alex Jones and Donald Trump Jr., are sold out.

Carlson’s event kicked off a whirlwind week of Republican appearance in Arizona. Sen. JD Vance spoke to a local church congregation Wednesday afternoon and is scheduled to hold a campaign event in Phoenix Thursday.

Arizona, which swung blue in the 2022 midterms , is a crucial state to win in November and both presidential candidates are laser focused on gaining an advantage.

Harris visited in early August , and made immigration a key component of her stump speech during a packed rally in Glenade, a Phoenix suburb.

Several weeks later, Trump was joined onstage in the same suburb by  Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shortly after the independent dropped out and endorsed the former president.

On Tuesday, Jimmy McCain, the youngest son of the late Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., announced during an interview with CNN that he registered as a Democrat and has decided to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.

He made the decision after an incident involving Donald Trump’s campaign staff at Arlington National Cemetery, Jimmy McCain said.

Trump visited the cemetery last week with relatives of service members who were killed in Kabul during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan three years ago.

A member of Trump’s team “pushed aside” a cemetery official so that campaign staff could take photos and videos in an area where they are normally prohibited, according to the Army.

Trump’s team has disputed that account.

The incident was the last straw for the younger McCain, whose father and sister had previously distanced themselves from Trump.

CORRECTION (Sept. 5, 2:16 p.m. ET): A previous version of this article misstated that Tucker Carlson dropped to his knees and led the crowd in prayer. It was Russell Brand who did so, not Carlson.

Russell Brand

Russell Brand ‘s next UK live show is in question, with the UK’s Theatre Royal Windsor preparing to update this afternoon, as Brand’s book deal is put on ice by his publisher.

Tomorrow, the theater is set to host the latest in Brand’s “Bipolarisation” tour but talks are understood to have been taking place this morning over whether it can go ahead. According to ITV News UK Editor Paul Brand, the theater is “considering cancelling the gig in light of the weekend’s accusations,” with managers meeting early in the morning and an update coming later today.

An update from the Theatre Royal is expected later, coming as the world of entertainment reacts. Brand’s publisher, Bluebird, told The Bookseller it has “paused all future publishing” due to the “serious allegations.”

The deal had seen Brand publish 2018’s Recovery: Freedom from our Addictions and the follow-up was due later this year, titled Recovery: The Workbook. He has published several other books with different publishers.

In other developments in the fast-moving story, Deadline revealed earlier today that Brand was dropped from his latest major TV job in the UK, on Comedy Central’s Roast Battle, after being accused of being a “sexual predator.”

Elsewhere, Channel 4 joined with the BBC and Big Brother producer Banijay in launching an internal probe into the allegations. Brand presented numerous shows on Channel 4 in the 2000s. One of which , Big Brother’s Big Mouth, is where a number of the incidents are alleged to have taken place.

The UK TV sector’s soon-to-launch independent body CIISA, which will oversee bullying complaints, issued a statement saying the situation “further underlines the need for this critical intervention.”

“The establishment of an independent body for the creative industries, CIISA, is now in advanced discussions with the creative sectors in the UK,” it added.

“The creative industries is one of the only sectors that does not have an independent place to confidentially raise concerns about behaviour. The news this weekend further underlines the need for this critical intervention.”

Russell Brand: Bipolarisation

Outspoken entertainer known for his humour, antics and philosophical thought

Incredibly funny and at times controversial, Russell Brand is an actor, comedian, TV presenter, podcaster, radio host and author.

Born in Essex, he had a difficult childhood. Brand’s parents split when he was just six months old, so his mother raised him on her own. However, when Brand was eight, she fought the first of several battles with cancer. As a teenager, he too battled things including ADHD, bulimia, bipolar disorder, drugs and other addictions.

Something of a social outcast, Brand found light in theatre and comedy. He was in a production of Bugsy Malone at the age of 15, and then sought out work as an extra in films. In 2000, Brand launched his stand-up comedy career at the Hackney Empire New Act Of The Year showcase and came in fourth.

He appeared at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2004 with his first one-man show Better Now, a confessional about heroin addiction. The following year he returned to the Fringe with Eroticised Humour, and in 2006 he launched his first UK-wide tour Shame there.
