The average temperature during this period ranges from 15°C to 25°C, making it comfortable for outdoor activities.

From April to June, the weather in Chitwan National Park becomes hotter and more humid. This is also the season for pre-monsoon showers, which can make the jungle walks muddy and challenging. However, the park is quieter during this time, and you can enjoy a more intimate and peaceful experience.

From July to September, Chitwan National Park experiences heavy rainfall during the monsoon season. This can lead to flooding, landslides, and road closures, making it difficult to access the park. However, the rain brings new life to the park, and you can witness the lush greenery and the spectacular waterfalls at their best.

So, the best time to book the 4 Days Chitwan National Park Tour package depends on your preferences and interests. If you are looking for comfortable weather and easier access to the park's wildlife, the dry season between October and March is ideal. However, there haven't been any incidents similar to that up until now, and we hope there won't be in the future.

Here are some things to keep in mind regarding travel insurance for the Chitwan National Park Jungle Safari:

  • Medical coverage: When purchasing travel insurance, make sure that it provides medical coverage for emergencies that may occur during the trip. This can include coverage for hospitalization, emergency medical evacuation, and other medical expenses. You should also ensure that the insurance policy covers pre-existing medical conditions if they have any.
  • Trip cancellation coverage: You may also want to consider purchasing trip cancellation coverage, which can provide coverage for trip cancellations or interruptions due to unforeseen circumstances, such as illness or natural disasters.
  • Personal liability coverage: You may also want to consider purchasing personal liability coverage, which can provide coverage for any damages or injuries that they may accidentally cause to others during the tour.
  • Adventure activities coverage: Some travel insurance policies may exclude coverage for adventure activities like hiking, jungle walks, and elephant rides. Make sure that your policy covers the activities included in the tour.

When purchasing travel insurance for the Chitwan National Park Jungle Safari, you should carefully read the policy details and understand the coverage provided. You should also make sure to carry a copy of your insurance policy and emergency contact information with you during the tour.

What our clients say, a must for the bucket list.

Sometimes intuition, or gut instinct, leads you to make the right decision.  I met marketing staff’s of NTA in the streets of Thamel and like many others, he gave me a business card and invited my husband and I to visit their office and discuss our travel plans. There are so many touts on the streets of Thamel but NTA’s staff open friendly manner won the day. After entering to the office we found Manager is thorough, his services reliable and very affordable and his staff and team of guides and porters are friendly, trustworthy and committed to caring for their clients. They skillfully organizes all the details for a successful trip - pickups, buses, hotels, tour activities, a checklist for trekking requirements and, of course, wonderful treks. His team organized a everything for us like- Chitwan National Park, Pokhara,The Annapurna Base Camp Trek and the Helambu trek.  What an experience! Chitwan was amazing and our only regret was that we did not allow more time there after our organised activities to relax and explore the local villages more. Yes we were tired at the end of both treks but every aching muscle and sore toe was well worth it. We trekked through some of the most spectacular scenery that either of us has ever seen. The climax was, of course, Annapurna Sanctuary. It is a very special place and definitely a fitting home for the gods!  The old adage holds out – no pain, no gain. We felt blessed! Trekking is a great way to get a real feel of Nepal, its countryside, its villages, its people and its magnificent mountains. I am so glad that we have had the opportunity and time to have had these wonderful experiences. A big thanks you, once again, to Manager, to our wonderful guide and friend on both treks, and our incredible porters. Don't leave it to intuition of gut instinct like I had to, but take my advice and put your trust in the hands of Manager and the wonderful staff at NTA.

On getting into the park, the first thing that a visitor will notice is the beauty and gayness that are conspicuous features within the park. In a nature walk to establish the park's plant species or at the Elephant Breeding Center to learn about the park's conservation efforts, an evening in Chitwan National Park is unforgettable.

The Chitwan National Park is not only a place that allows guests to see wildlife, but it also makes them realize how valuable and wonderful nature and conservation are. Because it is in the Terai region, which is one of the most productive areas in South Asia, the park is an important ecological center for conservation as well as sustainable sources of income for communities. The Chitwan National Park tour package contributes to the conservation of this park, as well as sustainable tourism for the environment and the community. It is the best chance to visit the natural sites in the world of Nepal and be part of the struggle to conserve them for future generations.

About the Chitwan National Park

Chitwan National Park, which was gazetted in 1973, is one of Nepal's first national parks and a World Heritage Site since 1984. Sukla Phanta is situated in the subtropical Terai lowlands of south-central Nepal and occupies an area of 932 square kilometers. It is famous for its diverse and picturesque environment. It is a complex of dense forests with meadows and rivers, making it possible to find almost any kind of animal there. Among the most well-known residents, one can mention the one-horned rhinoceros and the Bengal tiger, which are instrumental in the park’s preservation program. Chitwan has forests, marshland, and grassland for its habitat and, as a result, is one of the best wildlife viewing locations in all of Asia.

Besides the rich wildlife, it boasts an active one, which is famous for more than seven hundred species of wildlife like leopards, sloth bears, wild elephants, and gharial crocodiles. The park also has over 500 bird species, making it popular among bird watchers and other researchers. This is combined with the park's beautiful nature, which includes large forest spaces, clear water in rivers, and wonderful views of the Himalayas' foothills. Because of this, Chitwan draws many visitors who are interested in nature and adventure. The park and its many conservation activities, such as anti-poaching activities and community incentives, will help protect those species and enhance tourism's value.

A visit to Chitwan National Park also reveals cultural attributes. Tharu villages, home to indigenous people socially and culturally distinct from the mainstream Nepali community, encircle this park. You can interact with Tharus through guided village tours, witnessing a Tharu dance, or sampling Tharu dishes. Such cultural interactions provide a way of understanding how societies share their environment, in this case, with nature, while demanding societal engagement in conservation. In conclusion, Chitwan National Park is an extraordinary place that offers a hot mix of beauty and hospitality to people who want to turn their vacation into an adventure discovering the exotic Nepalese wilds.

If you are not an admirer of the hot and humid climate of Chitwan, the best months to plan a three-day tour of Chitwan National Park are September, October, April, and May.

The best times to visit Chitwan are from September to May because there are almost no chances of rain. We recommend visiting from mid-October to March if you prefer cool weather and low humidity. Still, if you can stand the heat that prevails in Trabzon in April and May, then the best time to go is in either of these two months. Remember that the mercury may rise to about 40 °CC in these months as well. Although fog may obscure the town and jungle, November, December, and January are the best months to visit Chitwan. Additionally, pollution from industrialization, automobiles, and garbage burning may result in a fog-induced haze, thereby limiting the enjoyment of the trip.

Difficulty level on the Chitwan National Park Tour

The Chitwan National Park in Nepal offers a one-day tour that is not very demanding, catering to the needs of physically challenged travelers as well. One major factor is that while trekking, you cover distance on feet where one needs to traverse through the rough terrain and move at a quick pace. The Chitwan wildlife tour mainly involves vehicular movement. Therefore, the tour will not cause stress due to long walks or hiking, making it suitable for families with children and the elderly. We classify it as a beginner's tour, with most activities considered easy. For most of the purposes of moving within the park, such as the view and safaris, among other experiences, the use of a car will predominate, resulting in limited body movement. Thus, anyone can easily do the 3-day Chitwan National Park tour, and there is no need to be in hiking form or have special hiking skills.

However, one must be prepared for the conditions and climate of the place he or she is in. However, during a specific period of the year, Chitwan can still be quite hot and humid, so it's advisable to pack appropriately with protective gear against the strong sun. Nevertheless, these have not caused a lot of harm on the tour, which is quite enjoyable, easygoing, and offers a close view of the wildlife if one is interested in it.

Travel insurance for the Chitwan National Park tour

If a traveler embarks on a 3-day tour to Chitwan National Park in Nepal with Hiking Adventure Treks, travel insurance is not mandatory but rather a matter of choice. Unlike other adventures, such as mountain trekking, Chitwan National Park is relatively free of risky activities. All tour activities, such as Jeep tours and canoeing tours, present minimal or no risk factors and are safe ways to explore the vast park. Although not compulsory for this tour, it is highly advisable to take out a travel insurance policy just in case. Despite the fact that such situations happen and are rather infrequent, and we have not received any serious complaints in the past, insurance is always beneficial to have. This is especially true when going on a jungle trek, as an encounter with wildlife or an incident, however unlikely, can happen. Another recommended option is travel insurance. Those who decide to purchase it will always feel confident having some kind of shield from any unpredictable condition that may happen during the trip.

Safety is our top priority, and our unremitting effort is to ensure your comfort throughout Hiking Adventure Treks. We do not provide any tour insurance here, but it is our pleasure to suggest you check your personal circumstances, and if you prefer, you can take the trip insurance. Thus, you will have the opportunity to take your time to appreciate the fantastic wildlife and other natural perks of Chitwan National Park.

Trip Overview

The Chitwan tour package is designed for Nepali adventure wildlife lovers to explore Chitwan's jungle safari and Tharu culture. This trip is also known as the  Sauraha  package  from  Kathmandu.

Chitwan Jungle Safari trip - we ride on the back of an elephant or jeep and drive into the jungle. This is an exciting way to explore the jungle's wildlife at their natural home in a safe manner. It also offers a close-up sight of the one-horn rhino in its natural habitat. Furthermore, numerous species of deer, langur monkeys, wild boar, etc., can be witnessed. Over 400 bird species, either as permanent residents or migratory visitors, can be viewed on foot in the jungle and open grassland while on bird-watching and jungle walking tours as part of the Chitwan adventure trip.

We participate in canoe rides along the Rapti River on the western side of the Chitwan National Park. It provides the fantastic experience of viewing a quarter of the world's remaining Gharial population, which shelters under its banks. This fish-eating crocodile has long been hunted for the supposed aphrodisiac qualities of its snout.

UNESCO designated Chitwan National Park as a Natural World Heritage Site in 1984. We begin our Chitwan Jungle Safari, driving a car or bus from Kathmandu or Pokhara. There is also a regular flight connecting Chitwan with Kathmandu. Thus this is a beautiful opportunity to take a relaxing Chitwan wildlife safari trip. It can be combined with our trekking and peak climbing trips in the Himalayas. The Chitwan Jungle Safari is undoubtedly one of Nepal's popular wildlife adventure trips.

Best Time to Visit Chitwan

The park has a range of climatic seasons, each offering a unique experience. In Autumn, October through February, average temperatures of 25 degrees Celcius provide a pleasant climate. From March to June, temperatures can reach as high as 43 degrees Celcius. The hot, humid days give way to the monsoon season that typically lasts from late June until September; rivers become flooded, and roads are impossible.

In late January, local villagers are allowed to cut thatch grasses to meet their needs, which offers visitors a better viewing of wildlife. In  September, November, February, and April , migratory birds join the residential birds, creating spectacular bird-watching opportunities. While the monsoon rains bring lush vegetation, most trees flower in late winter. The Palash tree, known as the "flame of the forest," and the silk cotton tree have spectacular crimson flowers that can be seen from a distance.

Chitwan National Park Tour Overview:

Chitwan National Park Tour is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Nepal. It is home to ample wild animals, different species of birds, the rare One-Horned Rhino, and the Royal Bengal Tiger. This National Park is located about 175 km south-west of KATHMANDU where you can drive or take a short domestic flight. Chitwan National Park Tour takes you to the most intriguing natural amphitheater. The tour includes a jungle walk, elephant ride, jeep safari, canoe ride, and being in the serenity of nature.

Chitwan National Park History:

The Chitwan National Park is certainly a fascinating reserve that protects an area of 932 square km (360 square miles). Until the 1950s, this huge extended grassland of Chitwan was accessible only by foot or horse. Chitwan is inhabited by the local communities of THARU who are truly known as the aborigines of Nepal.

Legend speaks of Tharus winning over the fatal disease of MALARIA with their gifted natural resistance to survive such fatalities. Though Chitwan was declared a National Park of Nepal in 1973, however, until the late 19th Century it served as a Hunting ground for the Nepali and Foreign Aristocrat people.

It is believed that hundreds of wild animals that literally populated the Chitwan jungle, especially Tigers, Rhinos, Leopards, and Bears were hunted for fun, snobbery, and their royal dignity.

Besides, in the late 1950s people from the hills swarmed down to Chitwan in search of suitable farmlands. This migration eventually led to the clearance of a massive area of Chitwan forest and poaching became rampant. As a result, there was a considerable decline in the number of Tigers, Rhinos, and birds with the loss of their habitat.

Fortunately, in the year 1984, Chitwan was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list with things improved remarkably since then. In 2008, a Vulture breeding center was introduced to conserve the declining vulture population in Nepal.

Sadly, the starting of the Maoist insurgency with the government of Nepal which started from 1996 until 2006 made a huge impact on the Chitwan habitat. This 11 years of Maoist insurgency led to the disappearance of countless animals from the Park. Nepal's army was more preoccupied with the Civil War than tracing the poachers.

Furthermore, due to the lack of a defense mechanism against floods during 3 and ½ months of monsoon season, every year we lose ample animals in Chitwan.

Chitwan National Park Tour 2 nights 3 Days:

However, the world heritage of Chitwan National Park is one of the most popular destinations. It is in the heart of the jungle that delivers you phenomenal wildlife experience. Consider yourself being in the wilderness with the dramatic setting of Sal forest, water marshes, elephant grassland, and Rhino trees.

Furthermore, Chitwan also delivers a stunning view of snow-capped mountains in the distance. It is indeed a once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit the most fascinating national park in Asia. Besides other activities, the most interesting is the visit to the elephant breeding center which is a must-see sight, and the Gharial Conservation Center. It's sensational to watch the interaction between mother and baby elephants.

Chitwan organizes the Elephant polo championship every year which is really fun. The Chitwan National Park Tour 2 Days 3 Night package is the best way to explore the ambiance of Chitwan.

PLEASE NOTE: Occasionally, the activities in Chitwan may deviate from the detailed itinerary, offering delightful surprises. While there are typically prearranged activities, additional experiences can be tailored to your preferences upon arrival at the lodge or resort. It is important to NOTE that the monsoon season is not the most favorable time for Chitwan National Park Tours, as the Rapti River tends to swell, leading to frequent flooding. IF YOU MAY CHOOSE TO FLY TO CHITWAN: Flying to Chitwan is a 20-minute domestic flight to Bharatpur and then a 30-minute drive to our Lodge or resort.

Wendy

This was my husband and my first visit to Nepal. We were very grateful to have received the warm hospitality and the all-rounded support of Sunil and his team. We deeply enjoyed the itinerary prepared by the company since we had the opportunity to trek along the beautiful mountain ranges and understand the local culture. We were pleased with the overall transportation and accommodation arrangements. All in all, it was a memorable and fascinating trip that I would recommend to everyone!

We would like to thank Sunil and Arjun again for preparing this wonderful trip.

Attached are some spectacular photos that I took during our Nepal trip.

My friends suggest to take 10 days trekking trip in Nepal. I was a little worries at the beginning as I never tried trekking but still want to give it a shot (once in a life time)

We came across Pyramids trekking company for a local company to help organize the trip. Sunil was extremely helpful during the booking process. He was very patient in answering tons of questions and concerns we had and responded them timely with a great level of detail.

We had many highlights on the trip we really enjoyed, but most importantly, our tour guides, Sunil and Arjun made this trip more memorable for years to come. They were both attentive, allowing us to be on our own pace on the trails, offering to take pictures, etc. They were extremely patient with all of the stops to ensure we felt comfortable in walking and taking pictures.

Finally, we were very grateful that our time in Nepal was so enjoyable which something that would not have been at all possible without a professional guide like Sunil and Arjun.

You can take your children on the trip, and they will enjoy the trip more than you guaranteed. Do we need to carry cash with us?

Q4. Do we find money exchange in Chitwan?

Chitwan is a district that is the best representative of city life surrounded by forest. You will find many money exchange facilities in Chitwan from where you can convert your currency to Nepalese currency. It is advised to carry Nepalese Rupees because most shops will accept that. You don’t have to convert your currency to Nepalese currency in every shop looking at the exchange rate. It is a more handy and easy way of paying or giving tips.

Q5. Do we need travel insurance for Chitwan Tour?

Getting travel insurance for a trip to Chitwan is fully subjective. You can get it or decide not to have it. It is not a mandatory thing to have. There are no big risk factors involved, so that you won’t need that. However, there are many wild animals you will explore. On the worst day, any sort of mishaps might happen. So, you can get insurance for that as well. But, there have been no accidents like that until now, and we hope it won’t occur in the future.

Q6. What if I cancel the booked tour package of Chitwan? | Do I get a refund?

Welcome Nepal Treks offers a lifetime deposit policy that provides you an opportunity to transfer your deposit to any other trip. Even if you wish to cancel the booked trip, you will only be charged the cancelation amount. You will get a refund, but it should not be too late. For instance, if you plan to go on a trip tomorrow and have already paid for the trip. You won’t get a refund just one day before the trip commences.

Q7. Can we do Chitwan Tour without a guide?

A guide is a person who will lead your group and tell you many facts and figures regarding the visit. He will also ensure you have a clear conversation with the local people. Whenever there is any misunderstanding, the guide will be the first to see and solve that. It is advised to take a guide when doing Chitwan Tour. But about the question, you can go to Chitwan without a guide.

Q8. Can we feed the elephants in Chitwan?

Elephant feeding is one of the best things to try in Chitwan. You will be allowed to see and prepare the food for elephants working with the Mahout. You can also wash the animals and take photos with them. Elephants love having cabbage, bananas, sugarcane, and watermelon. You can feed any of these to the elephants. But, you should do all of these on the watching of the Mahout.

Q9. What is so special in Chitwan?

Valuable Chitwan Tour

Cannoning is the best way to see lots of crocodile and birds. Jungle walking and elephant safari was wonderful could see rhino and many dear, beer. Much more than we expected both the half day and full day are well worth it. Thanks WNT team for organizing such a wonderful trip.

Great Wildlife adventure in Chitwan national Park

We book our 2 night 3 days chitwan safari tour package with welcome Nepal treks and did a variety of very enjoyable jungle Tour. Our guide was excellent with knowledge of everything in the park. Walking tours (late afternoon and early morning) - Can be a somewhat dangerous activity and a tourist and guide got very badly injured a week after our visit from a Rhino attack. I enjoyed the walks and we saw a Rhino, Tiger paw print, deer, crocodiles, lots of bird life and a python. Our guide was sure to tell us not to wear brightly coloured clothing (on any of the activities) as this can be dangerous. Canoeing - A couple of canoeing trips which was great fun, plenty of crocodiles and bird life. The canoes are traditional and craved out of a single tree so sit very low in the water. Anyone mobility challenged would find it difficult to get in and sit down. While doing Jeep Safari, we did see more Rhino, Elephants, Deer, Monkeys, Warthogs, Bird life and another Python.

The Trek Nepal

UNCOVER THE WILDERNESS: CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK TOUR

The Chitwan National Park is the ultimate drawcard of Nepal. It is enlisted in the UNESCO World Heritage Site and covers an area of 952 sq.km. of grasslands and forests. The  Chitwan National park tour  is designed to take you inside this wilderness and gain firsthand experience. You’ll get an excellent opportunity to witness deer, monkey, and one-horned rhinoceros. If the Gods are in your favor, then, you’ll be blessed with a view of the Royal Bengal Tiger. A tour into the jungle will make you appreciate and admire nature.

Before we speak about the  Chitwan tour   in general, let us begin by understanding some minor details about the park.

Basic facts

  • The Chitwan Nation Park is the first national park of Nepal.
  • It dates back to 1973 and earned the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.
  • It sits in the Terai lowlands of the south-central portion of Nepal.
  • It spans across the districts Parsa, Chitwan, Nawalpur, and Makwanpur.

Brief History of Chitwan National Park

The area encompassing the national park was and still is thriving in wildlife. Consequently, it became a hunting ground for the rich and elite. Numerous camps were stationed where elites would hunt tigers, rhinoceros, and leopards. The hunting combined with the land encroachment by locals ultimately led to the destruction of grasslands and wildlife. To prevent further damage, the grasslands were given the status of a national park.

As of today, the Chitwan National Park is a place where the animals and vegetation are preserved. The Government of Nepal has been conducting various activities for the preservation of wildlife.

Now that we have learned about how the Chitwan National Park came into existence, let’s take a look at the activities that can be done in this  Chitwan National Park tour.

Activities that can be done

Safari on the back of an elephant.

There is a saying, if you didn’t do elephant safari, then what did you do in Chitwan? Elephant safari is considered by many to be the most enjoyable way to explore the Chitwan National Park. Nothing beats the experience of traveling on the back of a shaky elephant! Be kind to the elephant and it will show you its gratitude. The seasoned mahouts will lead you deep inside the forest where you can observe rare mammals and birds.

Jeep Safari

A better alternative to the elephant safari is the jeep safari. You will sit ion the back of a topless jeep/pick-up truck and then explore the jungle. As the jeep is open, you can observe the exotic flora and fauna. The route in the jeep safari tends to differ as per the service provider. In most cases, the jeep is not allowed deep inside the park so it can be disheartening for some.

Canoe ride on the Rapti river

If you fancy leisure and bird-watching, then the canoe ride will cater to your needs. The   canoe ride   mostly occurs in the morning but tends to differ as per service provider and weather conditions. The ride takes you along the Rapti river which is home to gharials and fishes. The canoe ride not only soothes the senses, but it gives you the window to observe birds too.

Elephant bathing and Elephant river walk

Yet another important aspect concerning elephants in this  Chitwan National Park tour  is the elephant bathing. It is better to end the day with a quick bath on the back of an elephant rather than partying! After the bath, relax on the banks of the Narayani River and observe the elephants doing their thing. If you fancy walking on the river but are afraid of the perils of the river, then you can opt for the elephant river walk.

The Chitwan National Park is a jewel of Nepal and to get the opportunity to explore its beauty via the  Chitwan National Park tour , is a blessing. Travelers should follow the principle of responsible travel while traveling. If you have any queries, be sure to contact us, and till then, Happy travels!

Chitwan National Park

nepal chitwan national park tour

Chitwan National Park , often referred to as the “Heart of the Jungle” in Nepal, has a rich history deeply intertwined with its transformation into a renowned wildlife sanctuary. In the annals of jungle history, it was once a favored hunting ground for the royal families of Nepal, who would extend invitations to Indian and British dignitaries for grand hunting expeditions within the park’s expanse. Unfortunately, this led to a substantial decline in the populations of iconic species such as rhinoceroses, bears, tigers, and leopards due to rampant hunting.

Recognizing the urgent need for conservation and protection of its unique biodiversity, the Nepalese government assumed responsibility and initiated concerted efforts. As a culmination of these endeavors, Chitwan National Park was designated Nepal’s first national park in the year 1973. Its sprawling area now covers approximately 952.63 square kilometers, and it holds the prestigious distinction of being declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1984.

Situated in the south-central region of Nepal, the park stretches along the fertile floodplains of the Rapti, Reu, and Narayani rivers. Its predominant vegetation is characterized by a 70% dominance of Sal (Shorea robusta) forests, complemented by grasslands (10%), riverine forests (7%), mixed forests (7%), and wetlands (4%). This diverse matrix of habitats and climates has positioned Chitwan as a biodiversity hotspot of global significance. The park is also an integral component of the Tarai-Duar savanna and eco-region, listed among the 200 most vital in the world.

The park’s resources are not only vital for the conservation of wildlife but also play a crucial role in the livelihoods of local communities, who heavily rely on forest resources for agriculture and livestock.

Chitwan National Park boasts a remarkable array of wildlife, including 68 different mammal species, 646 species of birds, 47 types of reptiles, 150 butterfly species, 120 fish species, and more than 700 species of flora and fauna. Among its most captivating inhabitants are the one-horned rhinoceros, Royal Bengal tigers, wild elephants, sloth bears, Gaurs (Indian bison), and Gharial crocodiles.

Remarkably, Chitwan National Park is home to one of the world’s largest populations of one-horned rhinoceroses. According to the most recent census data from 2021, Nepal boasts a total rhino population of 752, with 694 of these magnificent creatures residing within the boundaries of Chitwan National Park. Furthermore, Nepal has achieved remarkable success in the global conservation effort for tigers, nearly tripling their numbers. The latest tiger and prey survey from 2022 reported the presence of 355 Bengal tigers in Nepal, with 128 of them thriving in Chitwan National Park. The park also hosts more than 250 sloth bears, 394 Gaurs, 45 wild elephants, 118 Gharial crocodiles, and numerous other species.

For travelers and nature enthusiasts, Chitwan National Park stands as one of Nepal’s premier destinations. It offers a captivating opportunity to witness the splendor of nature and wildlife up close, making it a perfect place to explore and appreciate the remarkable biodiversity that this sanctuary so diligently protects.

Pokhara, Bandipur & Chitwan National Park tour

What an amazing holiday! 19 days discovering a variety of exciting places in Nepal, under the extremely capable, thoughtful & excellent organization of Himal from "Visit Himalaya Treks". He was able to tailor an individual tour for us. The warm welcome on arrival at the airport, began a special trip, which included travelling to the beautiful village of Bandipur, a 5 day Poon Hill trek, Pokhara & Lake Fewa, Chitwan NP,Nagarkot, Bhaktapur, & Kathmandu. The Poon Hill trek was timed to view the stunning, gigantic, flowering rhododendron trees and didn't disappoint. Beautiful vistas of the trees, many moss-covered & rainforest, the high snow-capped peaks, blue sky, small waterfalls, and even a little snow on our path. We passed and stayed in small villages and when the going uphill proved tough, our guide Rajan & porter Ishwar helped and encouraged me. Rajan is to be commended on his attention to detail. He taught us so much about the everyday life in Nepal, the religions, the history, culture, customs and the mountains. Both Raj and Ishwar, were very respectful, courteous and warm people, who accommodated our wishes.(we were 1 middle-aged Aussie couple only on this tour). We enjoyed some good laughs together. In Chitwan NP, they organised an excellent local guide Bishnu, who was a wealth of knowledge about the area, especially the fauna /birdlife. The accommodation at the Hotel Parkland in Sauraha was peaceful and had a lovely garden. We were happy with the other hotels and guesthouses on the rest of the tour too. (Some were more basic on the trek-to be expected!) If we hadn't had Rajan's local knowledge & Nepali language, we would've missed the outstanding festival chariot, procession & offerings ceremony of the Seto Machhendranach in Kathmandu. We can thoroughly recommend doing a tour or trek with "Visit Himalaya Treks"-do try and ensure you're fit before you come! And if you keep an open, enquiring mind & sense of humour and show respect for a country very different to your own, you will benefit most from the trip. Mark and Andrea Witcomb.
