Raise your hand if you like a little house tour.

But here’s the thing. We are a little extra here at Thistlewood and we couldn’t just put together a house tour room by room. Instead? Each room section features a curated collection of projects, ideas and inspiration for each space. All you have to do is click the room you are interested and it will take you to an entire page of projects.

Also, you can click here to take a video tour of the house.

Let me know if you have any questions or if I can help in any way.

PS You might need some sweet tea for the journey.

Modern Farmhouse Summer Home Tour

It’s almost summer and that means lots of fresh homegrown flowers around here! Come join me for a summer home tour of The Flowering Farmhouse where I use lots of flowers to decorate for summertime. This summer home tour includes our front porch, kitchen, bathroom, and even greenhouse. Whereas other holidays and seasons I go all out with decor, in the summer months I like to keep things simple and primarily decorate with homegrown flowers.

A Summer Welcoming Front Porch

I love creating a welcoming front porch in the summer months. Having lots of fresh flowers in planter boxes creates such a welcoming entrance to our home. Our front porch is also our most wind sheltered spot in our yard so we spend a lot of time outside here in the summer months.

farm home tours

On our front porch we have two black rocking chairs and a loveseat for seating. I found this cute wicker tray at Target that’s perfect for our summer picnic lunches.

For Christmas my daughter gave me dwarf sweet peas. I decided to plant these seeds in hanging baskets. I started these hanging baskets in my greenhouse in March and moved them outside in May. Once the sweet peas are done, I have some petunias in hanging baskets in the greenhouse that I’ll swap these out with. Hanging baskets are one of my favorite summer porch decorations.

farm home tours

I like to keep our front doorway simple with a wreath and planters next to the door. This tulip wreath is from HomeGoods and our entryway mat is from Ruggable’s new outdoor entryway mat collection . There’s two black Tetra Planters from Loll Designs and I love changing these up with the changing of seasons. Well that’s a tour of my summer front porch.

Modern Farmhouse Kitchen: Summer Home Tour

Since we spend the majority of our time in the kitchen, this is the space that I focus on decorating. I do all of my flower arranging in the kitchen so I always like to take my leftover flowers and make a few bouquets for the kitchen. (For those of you who are new here, I’m a flower farmer and we grow flowers on a 1/2 acre of leased land next to our property).

farm home tours

This spring my friend gifted me almost 30 lilac starts from her garden. She even brought me these gorgeous blooms! I can not wait until next spring when I have these blooming in my garden. Let me tell you, these are some of the most fragrant lilacs I’ve ever smelled. They seriously made our entire house smell so good.

Here’s a Pinterest Pin For Making Your Lilac Bouquet Last Longer:

Using Smaller Flower Bouquets Throughout the Kitchen

I’ve found that verses making one huge bouquet, I like to put little bouquets around the house. Below I have a small bouquet next to the stove. I also updated our rugs and we have these new machine washable runners from Ruggable .

Summer Home Tour of Our Modern Farmhouse Bathroom

Our master bathroom is another spot that I love to add fresh flowers to in the summer months. Right now since we don’t have a lot blooming in the garden yet I added small bouquets of garden roses to our bathroom counters.

farm home tours

I really like keeping our bathroom clean and simple. Our bathroom is very neutral with pops of greenery. The roses add a slight feminine touch to the woods and whites in this modern farmhouse bathroom. I also love decorating with real greenery. Our house plants really liven up the space and make it feel more inviting. All the plants in here are real except for the eucalyptus on the bathroom counter.

farm home tours

While there’s nothing super fancy about our bathroom, I do love seeing and smelling the fresh flowers from our garden. One day I’ll maybe get around to hanging some wall art or decor in here, but for now the flowers will have to do 😉

Summer Home Tour: Summer Greenhouse

In case you missed my last blog post, I did a summer greenhouse tour which you can find here . Our greenhouse is still full of flower starts as I continually am succession planting to ensure we have flowers all summer long for our Flower C.S.A. .

If you don’t have space for your own cutting garden , I highly recommend looking into a local Flower C.S.A. subscription from your local farmer. This is a great way to support a local farm and also enjoy fresh, locally grown flowers all summer long!

farm home tours

Below is a peek at our newest field that we are leasing from our neighbor. On this field we are growing dahlias, snapdragons, zinnias, carnations, celosia, cosmos, amaranth, sunflowers, calendula, strawflower, phlox, mignonette, and so much more!

farm home tours

Well that concludes my summer home tour. I hope that seeing my simple floral decor has inspired you to add some flower bouquets to your home. Sometimes keeping it simple is best! If you have a moment, I’d love to hear from you below!

Make sure you head on over to Leen and James’ home at Sand Dollar Lane for some Coastal Farmhouse Summer Inspiration! Thanks for joining me for my summer home tour!

Everything looks so beautiful Jen! I love how you decorated your home and I can’t wait to see your garden grow! xo

Your home looks amazing decked out for summer.

Oh my, you got me with your new garden. Snapdragons, Dahlia and carnations. Many of my favorites.

I love lilacs and have 4 bushes this spring. Our home was filled with them

Jen, I really enjoyed your tour. I’m a modern farmhouse fan myself. So beautiful! It’s so fun doing these tours together.

Your flowers are always so beautiful!! Dwarf sweet peas?? Who knew! Your kitchen and bathroom are both stunning. The flowers add that pretty pop of color! Thanks for sharing your home!

Yes, dwarf sweet peas only get about 2′ tall so they’re perfect for hanging baskets and planters!

Jennifer, your summer touches are so pretty! I love that you use small bouquets around your home and I’m really crushing on that greenhouse!

Your home is gorgeous Jennifer. The hanging baskets and flower containers on your porch are stunning. Pinned! So fun touring with you this week.

Wowza, I’d be over-the-moon excited if I could have flowers each day like you! The only thing we have around here is a grocery store and it doesn’t have the best selection. Love your summer home tour. Not sure I’d ever leave that bathroom or the porch, or the kitchen. 😉

My Profile

You surely have a “green thumb!” Your floral arrangements are gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your home, garden, and decorating inspirations!

Your home is charming and I especially love your front porch. Your lilacs are stunning–pinned! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

Jen your home is just beautiful! I always look forward to seeing how you use your flowers! The lilacs are amazing! I also adore your porch and front door. Thanks for joining me this week!

Your home design is superb Jennifer! I love everything! The porch, the kitchen, and even the yard looks super neat! I love it! I’ll surely pin these images 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

Your home is absolutely beautiful all styled for summer, Jennifer. My favorite is your porch. How gorgeous and what a great place to relax and enjoy the season. Pinned!

So nice to be hopping with you on this tour, Jennifer. Your inspiration is lovely, and your bathroom has given me some ideas for my kitchen, believe it or not! LOL!

Your flowers are amazing, and I just may look into supporting a local floral farmer as you suggested!

It’s all so beautiful! Especially love your cute porch!!

You have the most beautiful farmhouse Jen! Your kitchen is so gorgeous. I can’t wait to see all your beautiful flowers this summer.

What a beautiful home you have Jen. I love all of the fresh blooms and the tip about finding a local farmer for season long flowers. I’m hoping to plant a cut garden next year!

Where did you buy your light fixtures?

Globe Lighting!

Thank you for the wonderful links and resources

Summer Farmhouse Home Tour

Welcome to the our annual farmhouse home tour! I’ve been hosting this event every year for quite a while now, and this year I’ve invited a few of my favorite farmhouse style bloggers to join me as we share a small bite of summer living in our homes.

If you’re new around here, welcome! Pull up a mason jar of sweet tea & sit a spell as we take a quick tour of our home.

So here’s the quick backstory: About 15 years ago, my husband and I bought my childhood home from my parents. Eventually we began to remodel the house to fix things that had fallen into disarray & make it our own. So the writer in me decided to start a blog to be a virtual scrapbook. And now you’re here… crazy, huh? It’s been a long road on our remodeling journey – ten years to be exact. And I’m so glad you’re here!

Five years ago versus today. We’ve come a long way, baby! Today we finally get to start landscaping, which is exciting and scary all at the same time. Any suggestions? 🌻🌳🌸🌲🌺 #mobilehome #mobilehomeremodel #farmhousehappy #shabbycreekcottage #homeexterior A post shared by Gina Luker (@shabbycreek) on Sep 27, 2017 at 4:39am PDT

This is where we started versus where we were at the end of last summer from my Instagram . I didn’t snap a pic this week because we’re in full landscaping mode – but that post is coming in just a couple of weeks… so stay tuned!

gorgeous farmhouse home tour - can you believe this is a MOBILE HOME?!?

As you step in the front door of our home tour, you’ll walk into our living room. I shared the entire makeover on last year’s summer tour … and other than a few accessories it looks almost the exact same.

gorgeous farmhouse home tour - can you believe this is a MOBILE HOME?!?

I don’t tend to change the anchor pieces much like furniture, rugs & curtains. I’m a firm believer in buying great quality once and making the most of it.

gorgeous farmhouse home tour - can you believe this is a MOBILE HOME?!?

However I do have a “thing” for mixing in fresh flowers as much as possible.

gorgeous farmhouse home tour - can you believe this is a MOBILE HOME?!?

Moving on to our kitchen. This room was the first space we remodeled, although it has been updated with fresh paint on the cabinets, light swap outs & a few other things here and there.

farm home tours

Although it’s been a workhorse for nearly a decade, this is all going to be different by next summer’s home tour as we are completely gutting it this summer and reworking the entire layout. It’s exciting & scary all at the same time.

gorgeous farmhouse home tour - can you believe this is a MOBILE HOME?!?

Beside the kitchen is our laundry room. This is the most recent room to get a makeover around here and you can see the full before and after on

farm home tours

We did the entire space in a weekend by making just a few simple changes to strip down the space and make it far more functional.

Gorgeous Farmhouse Laundry Room Makeover for under $200!

Give me function over form any day of the week 🙂

Gorgeous before and after of a modern farmhouse bedroom makeover!

Want to be our guest? Since we’re empty nesters, the guest room gets used quite often for friends who come to hang out here at the cottage for a day or two.

gorgeous farmhouse home tour - can you believe this is a MOBILE HOME?!?

This makeover was done last year after our baby girl moved out – and it’s been such a delight to have a space where our friends and family can relax and enjoy our country life for a while.

farm home tours

It was another weekend makeover – I’m pretty fond of those since I’m impatient and want things done now. If only I could “Mary Poppins” a makeover… wouldn’t that be swell?

gorgeous farmhouse home tour - can you believe this is a MOBILE HOME?!?

And then there’s our master bedroom. This room has pretty much looked the same for years now. The blanket gets changed out, as well as the accessories from time to time, but it’s kind of comforting to rest in the space you love every day.

gorgeous farmhouse home tour - can you believe this is a MOBILE HOME?!?

The side table gets changed up ALL THE TIME… but everything else remains the same.

So that’s it for our farmhouse style summer home tour! I’m so glad you stopped by the cottage to hang out for a spell, but be sure to visit my friends and see their beautiful homes, as well!

Enjoy these other gorgeous farmhouse home tour stops

Stunning French Farmhouse Style Home – Inspiring Home Tour

Today’s inspiring home tour is a stunning French farmhouse style home. Featuring rustic chic interiors and a dream kitchen, as well as lots of European touches, it’s a French design lovers dream!

I’m so excited to be sharing today’s Inspiring Home Tour with you – I think you’re gonna love it as much as I do! Designer Brittany Jones is someone I’ve been following on Instagram for awhile now, and I’ve watched as her talent and her portfolio have grown. But today is really special because I’m sharing her personal home with all of you!

Her style is decidedly French, but not fancy. She shares her northwest Texas home with her husband and young daughter and the home exudes a comfortable ambiance that is what I would call approachable elegance.

Mixing both rustic and refined elements, her interiors are both comfortable and chic at the same time.

French farmhouse style home tour gorgeous front elevation glass doors stone work

Cypress trees, iron lanterns and lovely stonework form an inviting entrance to this French farmhouse style home.

The home was custom designed in 2016 by Brittany and her architect.

gorgeous glass front doors to french inspired entry way with chandelier

Those doors! The black steel glass doors really create drama as you enter the home.

french farmhouse style entry way with barn door and gorgeous chandelier

Brittany says, “This home was my first big dive into the design world on a scale this size. I am so proud of how my vision came to life! The design was from the heart and a true expression of myself and what is meaningful and special to me. I didn’t follow any trends, I just followed my heart and what is beautiful to ME”.

On the other side of the entry blue linen draperies add soft color to the sitting area.

french farmhouse style kitchen with farmhouse table and beautiful rustic lanterns

And my second favorite? Definitely the kitchen! That brick backsplash that goes up the whole wall is such a statement maker.

french farmhouse style home kitchen with wood beams and rustic lanterns european farmhouse style

Vintage looking lanterns in dark metal create contrast in the otherwise neutral space.

“I did a lot of the interior finish work myself. From hand painting the shutters and interior doors, to putting custom finishes on chandeliers to make them ‘just right.’”

rustic stone range hood and brick backsplash french country kitchen with copper pots

The herringbone backsplash is made from reclaimed bricks and brings lots of texture to the space. And the blend of brick with marble countertops creates a rustic chic vibe. The vent hood is custom cast stone.

Her butler’s pantry has a beautiful linen roman shade and holds lots of her pretty dish collection.

french farmhouse dining room brick archway

More reclaimed brick forms an archway that divides the kitchen and living areas. In the dining area upholstered wing chairs and French style side chairs surround a distressed farmhouse table.

In the living room, Brittany chose blue linen for the side chairs and mixed them with sofas in a neutral fabric along with a pretty wool rug in soft colors to ground the space.

french farmhouse style den with wood planked ceiling and brick floors

Brittany says the den is her favorite space in her home!

“I love the reclaimed wood ceiling, the brick pavers, and the intimate nature of the space. It has lower ceilings so naturally it just feels more cozy and warm”.

french farmhouse inspired bedroom tufted headboard french style bench and rustic chandelier

Her master bedroom is a story of understated elegance. A tufted headboard with bedding in soft greens and pinks creates a serene space to retire to at the end of the day. Love that French-style bench with the scalloped edge!

We have recently built a French Chateau style home, in Puslinch, Ontario Canada. Your post reminds me a bit of mine. Just one year old now, and still some outdoor landscaping to be completed. It will be featured in Style at Home, a Canadian design magazine I believe in the fall of 2024. Perhaps you would like to see it….. With regard to the American living in France, I agree. I have travelled many areas of the South of France, and the design of not only homes, but restaurants etc is beyond beautiful. Timeless and rustic.

Stephanie your home sounds amazing – what a lucky lady you are to be able to build your dream home! I will definitely look for it next fall when the feature comes out!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love your home!! Lovely!!!

So glad you love this one too Natalie!

Lovely! What is the flooring in the kitchen?

Beautiful and charmy….perfect armony I love it and all the decoration too! You are very talented, it is very magical! Thanks for sharing

I liked the tour however i think that you need to post more pictures of farmhouses that are actually in France . I am an American who lives in Southwest France , between Souillac and Gourdon in the Occitanie Region. My house was built , at least part of it, in 1680 and is very farmhouse French. If you would like to see pictures please let me know.

I’d love to feature more homes in France – they are just harder to come by! And yours sounds amazing Rebecca – you’re living the life we all dream of!

Quite lovely thank you for sharing..I really like how she didnt limit her color palette because all that white and beige gets boring imho and looks like manufactured french country..lol but hers was just perfect! Will definitely follow on IG thank you!

So glad you loved it as much as I do Deidre!

This house is everything I love!! Just gorgeous, I will definitely will be using this for inspiration!!

Isn’t it stunning? I’m so glad you love it too!

Loved the tour. Also loved the black metal entrance doors. May I ask where she got Those? I can’t find them here in Colorado. Thank you for your response.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it Alice! I have no idea where the doors are from, my guess is they were custom. But you can reach out to her through her Instagram account which I linked in the post. Hope that helps!

This must be a Gianetti design!!

No actually, it’s not! It’s by Brittany Jones! 🙂

Our Visit to the Prairie by Rachel Ashwell

On a recent trip to Round Top we were guests of The Prairie. And we couldn’t have been more thankful. Reviews From Our Guests

“This is a very interesting tour to take that’s also family friendly. I took my 2 children both under 5 and they had a great time learning and feeding the animals. Would highly recommend it.”

“Our tour guide was local. She’s very knowledgeable about the Amish way of life. We enjoyed our bus tour to the Amish farm and those nice freshly baked warm buttery pretzels are to die for. Made our trip a memorable one.”

“We did the house & village tour as well as the bus tour and it was all very interesting & informative. Everyone in the village & on the bus tour were very friendly. The bus driver went out of his way to show & explain about the Amish houses and the English houses and show things with descriptions about the homes & schools. We stopped at an Amish store & were able to purchase some foods that the lady had made(sticky buns, ketchup, whoopie pies, pickles and all were delicious!!! The tour of the Amish home was very informative. My granddaughters 12 & 14 also enjoyed the tour, the bus ride, & feeding the animals in the barn area around the village. Would highly recommend if you have 3 hours to spend in Lancaster & I recommend doing all the parts of the tour!!”

“Our office took a group of international students from different countries all over the world to hear about an interesting part of our culture that takes place right here in Lancaster County. Though, it was a little cold, the students had a blast! It was such a great experience. Highly recommend!”

“Decided to take a back road trip in PA and came upon the bus tour with The Amish Village. The staff were very pleasant and got all 7 of us on the last tour bus. Our Guide Wayne was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the life of the Amish families there. I was very impressed and my grand kids ages 8 and 6 surprisingly listened intently and asked questions. I also learned several things that I was not aware of. If given the chance I would repeat this tour and I would also recommend to my friends and other family to take it as well.”

See What People Are Saying

We came here with 3 adults and 7 children. You start with a house tour. We were nervous about the tour with all the kids. Thankfully, everyone found the tour interesting and not overly long. After that, we were able to wander the outside. It was much better than we expected not only did they have sample buildings of how the Amish live. They also had animals and some fun things for the kids. ( you have to try the scooters). Worth every penny. Happy to say we were not rushed through the outside and were able to enjoy at our own pace.

Review from TripAdvisor : Ellen B.

Being in Lancaster without going to the Amish Farm and House is like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower or going to Rome and not seeing the Coliseum. The rich history of the Amish life and contributions of this religious group is revealed at the Amish Farm and House. The relics, furnishings, clothing, buildings, and memorabilia come alive through the great stories and explanations of the guides and curators working at this site. If you are In Lancaster for any reason, treat yourself for an hour or so at the Amish Farm and House and feel yourself slip back in time and be among a small group of compassionate people that helped build our nation in a special way.

Our Favorite Cozy Farmhouse Bedroom Ideas

It all starts with the furniture and bedding.

Within this collection of cozy farmhouse bedroom ideas, you'll notice a wide range of styles included. We are so in love with the vintage-packed bunk rooms loaded with personality, like the bedrooms that feature soulful collections, textural layers, and the best bedroom paint colors . But at the same time, we can't get enough of the more serene retreats with all the calming vibes—think neutral tones as a backdrop for simple farmhouse bedroom furniture. In addition, we've included a number of rustic farmhouse bedroom ideas on a budget. Hang collected-over-time artwork in a gallery style for wall art, use passed-down quilts in place of new farmhouse bedroom bedding, or create a statement wall with reclaimed wood. These creative ideas can save you money while still achieving a decidedly farmhouse look.

So whether you're looking for a quiet, rustic retreat to unwind after a long day or a colorful personality-packed space to get you going in the morning, don't sleep on this roundup of classic and modern farmhouse bedroom ideas.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Light & Airy Vibes

linen draperies hang in a bedroom against white shiplap walls and the bed is all white too with a floral pillow

To soften the rustic edges in this primary bedroom, linen draperies are hung at the ceiling height, then puddle to the floor for dramatic effect. White shiplap walls and neutral bedding let the room's impressive architectural details shine.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Wallpaper

a farmhouse bedroom that has an statement accent wall in a light blue with white flowers wallpaper and theres a pencil post bed with a little black and white dog on it

A simple pencil post bed purchased on an online auction sits against a wall covered in a pretty blue and white floral pattern. Solid bed linens let the wallpaper take center stage. But make no mistake: The real star of the show is that sweet pup sneaking a rest!

Farmhouse Bedroom with Guests in Mind

a guest bedroom with floral wallpaper and a white jenny lind bed with coral and yellow pillows and quilt

For an ideal guest room, thoughtful touches include adjustable sconces for reading, an antique side table for a collected feel, a simple wooden bed frame (like this classic Jenny Lind find) for farmhouse flair, and a cotton matelassé coverlet topped with an extra quilt. Your guests may never leave!

Farmhouse Bedroom with Soulful Touches

a small bedroom is packed with soulful touches like floral barkcloth curtains and a pair of antique portraits over the ned and a chippy mantel that acts as a second headboard

This bedroom is packed with soulful touches galore, adding loads of character to the small space. On the windows, bark cloth curtain panels that were a popular fabric choice in the 1930s through 1950s bring in bold pattern. A pair of antique portraits reside above a chippy mantel that acts as a shelf for books, frames, and other collected treasures.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Quirky Artwork

a fancy farmhouse bedroom has a handmade wooden bed with a red rug on the right side and a collection of dog artwork above the bedside table

We love the quirky collection of dog artwork above the bedside table in this rustic mountain house bedroom. Hand-carved tramp art frames that encase each one make the arrangement complete. The king-size tulip bed was custom-made from ‘Tiger Eye’ maple.

Farmhouse Bedroom in Earthy Tones

a small bedroom with earthy mossy green walls and two twin beds that are made up in green and white linens

Moss green walls in this tiny guest bedroom were inspired by the pretty landscape outside the windows. A petite nightstand tucks in perfectly between twin poster beds dressed in ivory coverlets and crisp floral and gingham linens in coordinating green tones.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Nature Motifs

a vintage wildlife themed tapestry stands in as a headboard in a bedroom and the walls are a gray green color and the bed is made with plaid bedding and yellow and navy blue pillows

In this Wisconsin cabin bedroom, a groovy vintage wildlife-themed tapestry subs in as a creative headboard for an instant conversation piece. A beat-up wooden "Lookout" sign above secures a velvet-covered mount. In contrast, the clean-lined bed is made up with navy, white, and yellow bedding for a tidy, modern look.

Farmhouse Bedroom in an Attic Space

new york home of christina salway and her husband john moskowitz attic turned bunkroom housing five antique twin beds

The spacious attic-turned-bunkroom now houses five antique twin beds in total. The previously unfinished space is now clad in wood paneling for a decidedly farmhouse look. Mismatched quilts up the cozy factor, and a stately taxidermy watches over the sleeping quarters.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Pattern on Pattern

a bedroom in a mountain house that has stripes and florals and brick and a vintage rug

On a background of brick and rich cocoa painted walls, layers of pattern are at play in this Virginia mountain house bedroom. Masculine stripes on the bedding, feminine florals on the accent pillow and curtains, and a patterned vintage rug give a collected-over-time feel. The early-1900s armoire with its original blue paint is from a local shop.

Farmhouse Bedroom with a Steep-Pitched Ceiling

a wrought iron canopy bed complements the steep pitched ceiling in this upstairs bedroom with white walls and a wooden dresser and red blanket on the bed

It appears as though this wrought-iron canopy bed was made for the steep-pitched ceiling in this Hamptons saltbox home. Other farmhouse details like the exposed beams, wooden dresser as a nightstand, monogrammed pillow cases, and painted floors add tons of charm to this sleeping space.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Classic Details

the homes red and blue palette takes a moodier turn in this bedroom with an antique brass bed with a dramatic 54 inch tall headboard that adds to the sophisticated look and mismatched dressers and 99 cent bird prints flank each side of the piece

In this New York farmhouse, classic details abound. An antique brass bed with a dramatic 54-inch-tall headboard adds to the sophisticated look in the bedroom that's painted light blue. Mismatched wood dressers and a collection of framed bird prints flank each side.

Farmhouse Bedroom with a Fireplace

a bedroom with white walls and a tan door and a black bed made up with green and white linens and a fireplace in the background

In this charming guest bedroom, visitors can tuck in to a black spool bed outfitted in ticking stripe linens , an ivory coverlet , and a mossy velvet pillow . For extra coziness, the original fireplace warms up the space on cool nights while the mantel provides a perch for artwork and other decor.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Vintage Charm

the wall behind the bed is covered in wood salvaged from other parts of a rescued house and the bed is covered with a double wedding ring quilt

This Texas farmhouse bedroom is packed with vintage charm, starting with the wall behind the bed that is covered in wood salvaged from other parts of the rescued structure. The vintage Czech pull-down chart was a Round Top antiques fair score, and the bed is covered with a double wedding ring quilt from the homeowner's grandmother.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Handsome Hand-Me-Downs

a light filled room decorated with handsome hand me downs and the bed previously belonged to her great uncle and the quilts have been passed down by various family members and the stack of suitcases are from family

In this California farmhouse, a light-filled girls' room is decorated with meaningful, passed-down treasures. The bed previously belonged to a great-uncle, while the quilts have been passed down by various family members. Some of the numbers in the wall art display were used as decor at past birthday parties.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Nautical Style

framed art and maps cover the walls of this nautical themed bedroom and the bed has a plaid spread and striped pillows

Framed art, maps, and found artifacts like souvenir pennants provide a storied display in this seaside cottage. Mounted oars that came with the house provide wall art on a budget. Wood furniture paired with classic patterns such as plaid and stripes make for a timeless nautical look.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Twin Beds

pine shiplap walls in a bedroom that has two twin sized beds and a window in the middle with lace curtains

In this Texas bungalow, pine shiplap walls are the perfect backdrop for a pair of 1930s Bakelite and walnut twin beds that belonged to the homeowner's grandfather. The antique trunk, now used as a nightstand, goes back three generations; the sconces above the beds were an eBay score.

Farmhouse Bedroom with a Collected Vibe

a cowbell found on the property and a collection of prints and paintings of old barns and houses adorn the wall in one of the cabin bedrooms and the walls semi transparent white stain shows off a bit of the wood grain of the tongue and groove pine

In this cabin bedroom, the wall's semi-transparent white stain shows off a bit of the wood grain of the tongue-and-groove pine and creates a quiet backdrop for collected art and objects, including a cowbell found on the property and a collection of prints and paintings of old barns and houses. A metal bed frame is layered with simple linens.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Rustic Style

the wood slat walls and exposed ceiling in this master bedroom get an extra dose of humbleness with a chippy bedside table and weathered bed frame and simple yet comfortable bedding and a fluffy throw rug bring a layer of softness to the room

In this primary bedroom, the wood-slat walls, weathered bed frame, and chippy bedside table create the basis for the ultimate rustic retreat. Simple yet comfortable bedding and a fluffy throw rug bring an extra dose of softness to the room.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Built-In Beds

the cabins gut renovation included adding a second story bunk room and thanks to the new upstairs space lined with five builtin beds the small cabin now comfortably sleeps nine and there are industrial sconces that make reference to the cabins farmland locale and play off the red stripes of the wool throws and vintage grain sack pillows

This second-story bunk room space is lined with five (yes, five!) built-in beds—talk about sleeping a crowd! Humble farmhouse bedding like wool throws and grain sack pillows mix with industrial lighting and vintage rugs. Collected artwork, such as a group of nautical flags, a horseshoe, and framed photographs, fills the walls.

Farmhouse Bedroom with Camp Style

it doesnt get more rustic than walls made from stone quarried on the property and cots outfitted with wool throws and a pair of pillows make for a comfy napping spot

For a tight space, consider an alternative to beds, like this pair of campy cots outfitted with warm wool throws and plaid pillows for a comfy napping spot. These foldable versions are light-weight, making them easy to move and make room for games, toys, and puzzles.

39 Farmhouse Kitchen Backsplash Ideas, From Modern to Rustic

farm home tours

Ashley Montgomery Design

The best farmhouse kitchen backsplash ideas will add a finishing touch to your space while making it easier to clean and maintain. Whether your kitchen design veers more modern, rustic, or traditional, there are a range of materials at any price point that can elevate a farmhouse-inspired space.

From tile to shiplap wood, marble, brick, stone, and more, choose a backsplash that will complement or contrast with your countertops, cabinetry, and wall finishes depending on the look that you want to achieve.

Check out these farmhouse kitchen backsplash ideas in a range of materials to inspire your renovation or refresh.

Vertical White Shiplap

Marie Flanigan Interiors

Pair white Shaker cabinetry with a painted white vertical shiplap backsplash for a low-contrast look that works well in modern farmhouse interior. Marie Flanigan Interiors complemented the white cabinetry and walls with brown countertops and brick tile floors to add a traditional note in this kitchen pantry .

White Shiplap Backsplash

Liz Marie Blog

Integrate your farmhouse kitchen backsplash with the rest of your walls by using traditional horizontal white shiplap. Liz Marie Blog covered the walls and oven hood in the same finish for a cohesive feel in this all-white modern farmhouse kitchen.

Beadboard Backsplash

Design by Leanne Ford Interiors / Photo by Reid Rolls

Beadboard will add an authentic feel to a renovated farmhouse kitchen. Leanne Ford Interiors treated the backsplash around the sink like extra-tall wainscoting to add character to the all-white space. A simple marble countertop, farmhouse sink, and natural wood cabinetry completes the minimalist feel.

Patterned Tile Backsplash

Kate Marker Interiors

Patterned tile will add texture to a modern farmhouse kitchen backsplash. Kate Marker Interiors chose a subtle pattern with pale green and pink tones that echo the green cabinetry and rose gold accents. The tile fills the space between the countertops and ceiling to draw the eye upward and maintain the light and airy feel of the spacious kitchen.

Square Zellige Tile

Becca Interiors

Handmade Moroccan zellige tile adds texture and character to a modern farmhouse kitchen. Becca Interiors layered the soft gray glazed square tiles with neutral finishes in this farmhouse kitchen finished with simple Shaker cabinetry, silver-toned fixtures, and wood accents.

Dark Stained Wood

A dark brown stain brings out the wood grain patterns in a vertical shiplap backsplash, which will add a rich and moody feel in a modern farmhouse kitchen. Ashley Montgomery Design paired the dark shiplap paneling with dark stone countertops, chocolate brown base cabinets, and gold-toned accents in this warm and inviting space.

Tin Tile Backsplash

My 100 Year Old Home

Give your modern farmhouse kitchen an aged patina with a tin ceiling tile backsplash. My 100 Year Old Home tiled this Texas farmhouse kitchen backsplash with tin ceiling tiles aged with white paint. A decorative flower market sign complements the rustic shabby chic farmhouse aesthetic of the home.

White Brick Backsplash

Design by Leanne Ford Interiors / Photo by Nicole Franzen

Painted white brick will give a traditional farmhouse kitchen a fresh feel. Leanne Ford Interiors paired the brick with white window trim and flat-front cabinetry for a minimalist look in this light-flooded space.

Aged Brick Backsplash Wall

deVOL Kitchens

Aged brick will give your farmhouse kitchen a timeless feel. This space from deVOL Kitchens pairs a full accent wall of brick with aged copper countertops for a charming look that's full of character.

Diagonal Wood Backsplash

Natural wood paneling is a classic farmhouse backsplash material. Add interest by laying boards at a diagonal and pairing them with black base cabinetry, open shelving, and a stone floor, like this rustic farmhouse kitchen from Ashley Montgomery Design .

Tile + Board and Batten

Design by Leanne Ford Interiors / Photo by Alexandra Ribar

Pair a subway tile backsplash with board and batten walls for a modern farmhouse look. Leanne Ford Interiors combined white subway tile with black grout and white board and batten walls in this modern farmhouse kitchen. Butcher block countertops and open shelving styled with dishware and wildflowers gives the space a homey and inviting feel.

Marble + Shiplap Backsplash

Mindy Gayer Design Co. / Photo by Vanessa Lentine

Layer marble or quartz over shiplap to create a mix of textures in a modern farmhouse kitchen. Mindy Gayer Design Co. paired white shiplap with gray-and-white marble to create a textured backsplash that is paired with taupe base cabinets and black accents to give the space a timeless neutral look.

Vertical Natural Shiplap

Choose an unpainted natural wood shiplap backsplash to add warmth and definition to an otherwise all-white kitchen or butler's pantry, like this space from Marie Flanigan Interiors . Install white open shelving on the natural shiplap wall to tie the painted white and natural wood finishes together.

Shiplap + Stone Backsplash

Whittney Parkinson Design

Layer vertical shiplap with dark soapstone or slate to create a backsplash that matches the countertops, like this updated traditional kitchen from Whittney Parkinson Design . Cutting the stone to fit your space and layering it over shiplap walls will add a custom look that will make your kitchen feel more elevated.

Two-Tone Shiplap + Tile

Customize your shiplap backsplash with paint for an affordable DIY makeover. Create a modern feel in a farmhouse kitchen with two-tone shiplap in graphic black and white. Leanne Ford Interiors added large-scale cross-shaped tiles over the range that acts as a splatter guard.

Shiplap + Floating Shelves

A shiplap backsplash wall adds contrast with dark wood flooring, ceilings, and floating shelves in this farmhouse kitchen from Becca Interiors . A floating stained wood shelf held up by wire and hooks adds storage space in front of the windows.

Quartz + Shiplap Backsplash

Mix quartz countertops and a short matching backsplash with white shiplap walls for a modern twist on a farmhouse kitchen. Ashley Montgomery Design added a narrow stone edge between the finishes for definition.

Taupe Shiplap + Brass

Warm up a neutral kitchen by installing a taupe shiplap backsplash that is warmer than pure white. Break up the backsplash with open shelving to maximize vertical space. Ashley Montgomery Design added brass railings to keep items from tumbling off shelves, while a mix of brass and copper accents and a dark stone countertop adds contrast.

Marble + Mirror

Add a mirror panel above a backsplash to bounce around light and create the illusion of a larger space by doubling views. Marie Flanigan Interiors paired marble with a panel of mirror that reflects the rustic wood on the wall opposite in this spacious kitchen. But this trick can work just as well in a smaller space.

If the look of plain mirror is too stark for you, consider a bronze mirror backsplash that will add warmth and shine.

Low Marble Backsplash

Jessica Nelson Design / Carina Skrobecki Photography

A low-profile marble backsplash in the same stone as the countertops will help protect the wall above and give your space a finished feel. Jessica Nelson Design paired gray marble with beige shiplap in this airy farmhouse kitchen.

Glazed Zellige Tiles

Mixing textures is an easy way to add interest to any space. Marie Flanigan Interiors paired matte countertops and unfinished natural wood cabinets with a glazed zellige tile backsplash that adds dimension and a handcrafted feel.

Slab Stone Backsplash

If your sink is positioned in front of a low window, add a short backsplash in the same stone as the counters and use a larger slab of the same material to create a backsplash over the range top, like this farmhouse space from Marie Flanigan Interiors .

The dark stone adds contrast with white walls and rustic details like decorative ceiling beams and a row of shiny copper pots hanging in the window above the kitchen sink.

Textured Tile Backsplash

  deVOL Kitchens

Textured tile in a matte finish the same color as the wall will add subtle character to a farmhouse kitchen. In this cottage farmhouse space,  deVOL Kitchens paired textured cream tiles with painted beadboard and contrasted it with reclaimed wood trim for a timeless feel.

Pink stone countertops, lace curtains, patterned china, and bright brass fixtures add charm.

Elongated Marble Hex Tiles

Britt Design Studio

Elongated marble hex tiles will add subtle pattern and texture to a farmhouse kitchen decorated with white cabinetry, dark woods, and gold-toned accents, like this traditional space from Britt Design Studio .

White Quartz Backsplash

Mary Patton Design

Avoid grout lines with a slab backsplash that is easy to clean and maintain. Mary Patton Design chose a white quartz with subtle veining in this traditional farmhouse-style kitchen, carrying the same stone onto the countertops and island for a seamless look.

Industrial Farmhouse Backsplash

Desiree Burns Interiors

Give your modern kitchen an industrial farmhouse feel by mixing black and white finishes. Desiree Burns Interiors defined space in this high-ceilinged space with a dark stone backsplash that is carried onto the countertops and peninsula with a vertical white shiplap base.

Vintage Sink Backsplash

Choose a vintage sink with a built-in backsplash for an authentic farmhouse look. Leanne Ford Interiors paired a vintage sink with a beadboard and tile wall backsplash for an authentic feel. The sink fits just beneath the window, making it look like it's always been there.

Gray Marble Backsplash

A simple slab of gray marble that mirrors the countertop pairs well with pearl gray Shaker cabinets and half-moon door pulls. Leanne Ford Interiors added a farmhouse sink and vintage-style silver plumbing fixtures to complete the look.

Glazed Subway Tiles

A glazed finish will give subway tile a slightly weathered look that works well in farmhouse interiors. Becca Interiors paired a glazed off-white subway tile backsplash with marble countertops and light beige to give this farmhouse kitchen a lived-in feel.

Colorful Subway Tile

Emily Henderson Design / Photo By Kaitlin Green

Use a tinted subway tile backsplash to add a hint of color to a farmhouse kitchen. Emily Henderson Design installed a pale blue subway tile backsplash around the windows in this large farmhouse kitchen that adds character to the space. The blue is soft enough to almost read like a neutral, and pairs nicely with natural wood trim and white countertops.

Window Backsplash

Skip the backsplash in favor of countertop-to-ceiling windows for a luxurious modern farmhouse feel. Kate Marker Interiors installed a wall of windows above the marble sink and countertops in this farmhouse kitchen with a wide-open view to the outdoors.

Large-Scale Tile Backsplash

Create a tonal look in a small kitchen with shades of green. In this L-shaped space from deVOL Kitchens , large-scale subway tiles in glossy green tones are pared with forest green base cabinetry and mint green paint on the walls and ceiling for an enveloping feel.

Stone Wall Backsplash

Add rustic charm to a farmhouse kitchen by swapping a backsplash for a stone wall. Whether this means an exposed wall of original stone or a decorative stone veneer depends on your space.

This modern farmhouse kitchen from Kate Marker Interiors includes stone walls and decorative wood beams that add patina to modern cabinetry and finishes.

Industrial Farmhouse

Design by Leanne Ford Interiors / Photo by Max Kim-bee

White subway tile with black grout will add an industrial farmhouse feel to your kitchen. Leanne Ford Interiors paired subway tile with warm wood and painted wood paneling in this sunny kitchen. The exposed ceiling is whitewashed, too, and a vintage island adds character.

Oversized Glazed Tile

Design by Leanne Ford Interiors / Photo by Erin Kelly

Oversized glazed tile will add texture to a farmhouse kitchen. Leanne Ford Interiors chose large-scale tiles with a milky white finish to add variation to the all-white finishes in this small L-shaped kitchen. Dried flowers, vintage china, and gold accents add warmth.

All-White Subway Tile

White subway tile with white grout will blend in with white walls in a modern farmhouse kitchen. Jessica Nelson Design paired a white subway tile backsplash with light taupe cabinetry and a natural wood farmhouse table-style island in this kitchen for a streamlined look.

Limestone Backsplash

A full wall of limestone adds texture to a neutral kitchen. In this spacious lake house kitchen from Marie Flanigan Interiors , the neutral matte stone adds character to the modern kitchen that mixes in rustic farmhouse elements like decorative wood beams and natural wood cabinetry.

Marble Subway Tile

Marble subway tiles will add a classic feel to a modern farmhouse kitchen. Britt Design Studio paired a marble subway tile backsplash with countertops in the same white and light gray tones for a complementary look.

Brick and Marble Backsplash

Mix old and new finishes to add character to a farmhouse kitchen. Jessica Nelson Design layered a marble backsplash over an exposed brick chimney wall in this bright farmhouse kitchen renovation.

What's a farmhouse kitchen backsplash that won't go out of style?

White subway tile, shiplap, and brick tile backsplashes are some of the farmhouse kitchen backsplash materials that have stood the test of time and will never truly go out of style.
