Today, Grammy and Emmy Award winning comedian, actor, director, writer and producer, Chris Rock has announced his highly anticipated return to live comedy with his Ego Death World Tour 2022. Produced by Live Nation, the 38-date North American leg of Rock’s first world tour in over five years kicks off April 2nd in Atlantic City, NJ with two shows at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, and will make stops across the country in St. Louis, Denver, New York City, Chicago, and more, before wrapping November 17th at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, CA. A full list of tour dates is below. More dates will be announced soon. 

Tickets go on sale to the public starting Friday, February 25th at 10am local time at Ticketmaster.com .

Lauded by peers and critics alike, Chris Rock is one of our generation’s strongest comedic voices. With a career spanning more than three decades, Rock has enjoyed ongoing success in both film and television as a comedian, actor, writer, producer and director. 

Rock recently wrapped production on the upcoming Higher Ground produced biopic, “Rustin ” and David O’Russell’s Untitled film . He is also set to direct an Untitled Chris Rock project in 2023. 

In 2021 Rock starred as Loy Cannon in season 4 of FX’s Emmy-winning drama series “Fargo.”   He also teamed up with Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures in the reimagining of the newest Saw franchise movie, “Spiral,” in which he produced and starred in. His most recent standup special, “Total Blackout: The Tamborine Extended Cut,” is currently streaming on Netflix. 

In 2014 he led the ensemble cast of “Top Five,” a critically acclaimed comedy feature that he also wrote and directed. In 2009 Rock ventured into the documentary world as a writer and producer of “Good Hair,” and in 2014 he executive produced “Eat Drink Laugh: The Story of the Comic Strip,” a documentary recounting the history of one of New York’s most famous comedy venues.  His feature acting credits include The Week Of, the Grown Ups and Madagascar franchises, 2 Days in New York, Death at a Funeral, Nurse Betty, Dogma, the hip-hop comedy CB4, and New Jack City.

His television work includes serving as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live” from 1989 – 1993 and as executive producer, writer and narrator for the series “Everybody Hates Chris.” The series ran from 2005 – 2009 and is still one of the highest rated syndicated shows in the world.

In 2011, Rock made his Broadway debut starring in Stephen Adly Guirgis’s The Motherf**ker With The Hat.   

Rock has won four Emmy Awards, three Grammy Awards, and is a New York Times Best-Selling Author. In addition, he received two nominations for the 2016 Emmy Awards, for Outstanding Director for a Variety Special for “Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo,” and Outstanding Special Class Program for the 88th Annual Academy Awards.

The legendary Chris Rock is coming to Vancouver.

Just announced: Chris Rock brings Ego Death World Tour to Vancouver Back to video

The comedian will visit UBC’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre on Oct. 21, 2022 as part of his Ego Death World Tour.

The tour, which begins this April, will mark the comedian and actor’s first tour in five years.

Rock will perform in 38 cities across North America, beginning in Atlantic City, NJ before winding down his tour with Vancouver as his third-last stop, though more dates are expected to be announced soon.

Rock has performed for more than three decades in film and television. Most recently, Rock wrapped production on biopic Rustin and an untitled David O’Russell film. He’s also on deck to direct an untitled project in 2023.

The comedian has also starred in FX’s Emmy-winning series Fargo, and his most recent standup special Total Blackout: The Tambourine Extended Cut is now streaming on Netflix.

Rock is also among the famous names that have paid their dues as part of Saturday Night Live, and has won four Emmys and three Grammys.

Tickets will go on sale Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com .

Immediately after ticket scanning, cell phones and all smart devices (i.e. smart watches, tablets, etc.) must be securely placed in a  Yondr  pouch for the duration of the evening’s performance. Guests may carry the Yondr pouch with them throughout the evening and the pouch will be unlocked during the exiting of the venue.

The use of cell phones and smart devices (watches, tablets, etc.) are not permitted during the show. Video and audio recording are strictly prohibited and the use of any mobile device including for the purpose of texting, calls, social media, photos, recordings, etc. will be result in immediate removal from the venue.

Guests are expected to keep mobile devices stored away in all areas other than designated “Smart Device Zones.”

No cellphones, cameras or recording devices will be allowed at Chris Rock's Total Blackout Tour. Upon arrival, all phones and smart watches will be secured in Yondr pouches that will be unlocked at the end of the show. Guests maintain possession of their phones throughout the night, and if needed, may access their phones at designated Yondr unlocking stations in the lobby. All guests are encouraged to print their tickets in advance to ensure a smooth entry process. Anyone caught with a cellphone in the venue will be immediately ejected. We appreciate your cooperation in creating a phone-free viewing experience.

NBA Policy: Camera flashes may not be used at any time during games. Cameras with detachable lenses are strictly prohibited. Video cameras are permitted, however NBA policy strictly prohibits the use of still photos or video footage for commercial purposes without the express written approval of the NBA head office.

NHL Policy: Non-flash still photography is permitted; however, the lens must not exceed 75mm. Video cameras, GoPros, and Selfie Sticks are not permitted.

Concerts:  As the camera policy for each event varies, we recommend that fans contact Fan Services at (416) 815-5982 prior to arriving at the building to confirm the camera policy for a particular event. iPads and other tablets are not permitted during Concerts/Special Events. Chris Rock Plots First Stand-Up Tour in Five Years

After a five-year break, Chris Rock is making his return to the live comedy circuit with the Ego Death world tour. The trek — which will begin with a 38-date North American leg — marks Rock’s first run since his Total Blackout stand-up tour in 2017 and 2018 (at the time, that was his first tour in nearly a decade).

The Ego Death tour will begin April 2 with two shows at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The current slate of dates includes stops in Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Toronto, Denver, Oakland, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and more. He’ll also play New York’s Radio City Music Hall in October and follow that show with performances in Chicago, Vancouver, and Washington D.C. before wrapping Nov. 17 in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theatre. Ticket sales begin Friday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster .

In the half-decade he’s spent off the road, Rock found creative outlets in film and TV. Last year, he joined the cast of Fargo as Loy Cannon in the show’s fourth season and starred alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Marisol Nichols in Spiral , the ninth installment of the Saw film series.

But as Rock noted in an interview with Esquire last year, he’s always thinking ahead and has kept a journal of ideas for over three decades. “You read it over, and you’re like, Oh, that’s good for stand-up. Or Oh, that would be good for script,” he said. “And then there’s some other shit, you’re like, Oh, when I die, provided I don’t fuck up my career, people are going to think this shit’s really interesting.”

Chris Rock Announces Ego Death World Comedy Tour

Chris Rock is set to go on his first tour in five years. On Tuesday (Feb. 22) Rock revealed dates for the Ego Death World Tour, promising fans a refreshing, intimate comedy set. Prior to the upcoming global journey, the 57-year-old’s last tour was the Total Blackout stand-up tour in 2017 and 2018 and he also issued the stand-up special Chris Rock: Tamborine in the latter year. Both marked his return to the live stage after nearly a decade.

“Ego Death World Tour 2022 all new material introspective very personal and very funny . Can’t wait to show you,” wrote the veteran comedian on Instagram.

Chris Rock’s comedy tour sales surged, according to ticket reseller TickPick, after the comedian’s slapping by Will Smith on the Oscars stage drew global attention

Tour ticket prices now cost a minimum of $341 on TickPick, up from a minimum of $46 per ticket on March 18, Variety reported.

Rock currently has 38 dates scheduled for the tour, hitting cities such as Las Vegas, Denver, Oakland, Seattle, New York, Chicago and Toronto.

The episode unfolded after Rock joked about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith. Pinkett Smith has spoken openly about her struggle with alopecia, a long-term chronic inflammatory condition which affects hair follicles and leads to hair loss. Smith has apologized for the incident.

The Academy said in a statement that it has started “a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our bylaws, standards of conduct and California law.”

Could Will Smith Be Stripped of His Oscar?

When actor Will Smith strode onto the Oscars stage on Sunday night to slap comedian Chris Rock, the collective gasp of the audience was amplified around the world as Twitter and YouTube went into hyperdrive.

Minutes later Smith was handed the Best Actor Oscar for his role in King Richard, while debate raged across social media about whether the actor should be punished — and if so, how?

So, will Will be stripped of his Oscar? If history is any guide, it’s unlikely.

In Oscars history, just one award has had to be returned. In 1969 Young Americans won the Best Documentary Feature Award, which was revoked after it was later found to have been released too early to have been eligible for nomination, according to movie site IMDB.

Other big names in the industry have been removed from Hollywood’s Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, but all have retained their awards. Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was imprisoned for 23 years for sex crimes in March 2020 and banned from the Academy — but he retains his Oscar for Shakespeare in Love, awarded in 1998. Others kicked out of the Academy in the wake of the #MeToo movement include Bill Cosby and Roman Polanski.

So what of Will Smith? The Academy said in a statement that it “condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show. We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our bylaws, standards of conduct and California law.”

This event will be a phone-free experience. Use of phones, smart watches and accessories, will not be permitted in the performance space.

Upon arrival at the venue, all phones, smart watches and accessories will be secured in individual Yondr pouches that will be opened at the end of the event. Guests maintain possession of their devices at all times, and can access them throughout the event only in designated Phone Use Areas within the venue. All devices will be re-secured in Yondr pouches before returning to the performance space.

All pouches and equipment will be sanitised prior to individual use. The Yondr staff are trained and required to follow safety guidelines and hygiene protocols to practice social distancing, minimal contact and wear required personal protective equipment.

Anyone seen using a device (phone, smart watch or accessories) during the performance will be escorted out of the venue by security. We appreciate your cooperation in creating a phone-free experience.
