The South of Seoul Blog
Living Your Best Life in South Korea
Maximizing Instagram In South Korea
Thanks to South Korean bloggers’ excellent hashtag skills which use an easy-to-follow system, Instagram makes tracking how locations look on a particular day and discovering new hashtags is surprisingly easy. Learn how right now!
Before you begin, smartphone apps you will need
In order to manage the language differences without knowing Korean (but still using pattern recognition skills), you will need the following apps on your smartphone. You will be copying Korean from the South of Seoul app, searching on Instagram, translating new information with Papago, and creating lists of terms in an app of your choosing. A summary of the smartphone applications you need are as follows:
- South of Seoul
- Any program for saving lists of information (Keep Notes, Evernote, Apple Notes are all options)
First, how do I know the current status of any famous location around Korea?
Did you know there is a way to use Instagram to immediately know what the popular or famous muhly grass, fall colors, cherry blossoms, silver grass, green tea fields, tulip festivals, etc look like right now? Here is how it all works.
To find out if something like pink muhly grass is in season at your local Instagram muhly grass ‘hotplace’ (the Korean term for a popular location) you can look at the tags on Instagram and then look at the most recent images. This way of searching Instagram gives you instant weather and bloom reports based on folks’ posts from that area.
This is a far more accurate system than posting in random groups on Facebook hoping to know what things might look like. You get a first-hand report, in real-time, right on Instagram.
You can use the South of Seoul app to make your Hangul Instagram search easier since you can copy the Korean name of each location and post it into Instagram with a #. Here is a little tutorial on how the South of Seoul app can help you check out the current conditions of locations around South Korea.
Step 1: Search South of Seoul by either location name or key words by keywords
You can search “Closest” or “Newest” locations added depending on what you are looking for. South of Seoul volunteers try to tag each location with keywords such as “Muhly grass” or “Pink Grass” or “Fall colors” so that you can more easily find places based on what they are famous for.
Step 2: Copy the Hangul name of the location
To do a solid search on Instagram you need the name written in Korean. Very limited information is available using English or romanized names. You can simply tap the Korean name in the South of Seoul app and it will copy.
Step 3: Paste the Hangul name with a hashtag
Step 4: Sort by ‘Recent’ posts on Instagram
Step 5: Look a the recent posts
Popular Korean Keywords Used Across the Country
South of Seoul Volunteers are always adding to this list in the South of Seoul app in order to empower your searches for information around South Korea. Let us know what other phrases you might need in the comments. Using this list will help get you started on a big journey of discovery. You can copy and paste this list into an app on your phone so that you always have it with you.
- pink muhly grass = #핑크뮬리
- fall landscapes = #가을풍경
- ginkgo road = #은행나무길
- ginkgo tress = #은행나무
- cherry blossoms = #벚꽃
- delicious restaurant = #맛집
- travel = #여행
- recommendation = #추천 (this may go on the end of a hashtag to specifically look for recommendations)
- hotplace = #홋플
- date ideas = #데이트코스
- dog cafe = #애견카페
- drinking spot = # 술집
- brunch = #브런치
- camping = #캠핑
- pension = #펜션
- forest = #숲
- festival = #페스티발 or #축제
How to discover how things look in certain Locations.
Now that you know how to search by keyword the next step is learning how to search by keywords and area. Since Korean Instagramers have a great tagging system, discovering what things are like around Korea is quite simple. You simply put the location and the keyword together with a hashtag. It looks something like this
- Pyeongtaek + pink muhly grass = #평택핑크뮬리
- Pyeongtaek + brunch = #평택브런치
- Pyeongtaek + delicious restaurant = #평택맛집
- Pyeongtaek + delicious restaurant + recommendation = #평택맛집추천
However, here are some terms like ‘가을풍경’ which means falk landscape. In this situation, if you want to know what fall colors look like in a certain are you need to use # + location + trip which might look like #아산여행.
Second, how do I discover new keywords for my Korean life
The above lists get you started on your Instagram searching journey and then you will want to discover more search terms for yourself. You can discover new, interesting searches using the following steps:
Step 1: Put a city name into Instagram Search and tap on the # section.
A long list of search terms for Pyeongtaek will come up on your screen and you will want to screenshot them. You will notice all the terms that come after Pyeongtaek (평택). Once you have a screenshot you can go learn what each of these tags means.
Step 2: Take that screenshot and put it into Papapago translation app
Papago will be far more accurate with these terms than Google Translate. It’s going to look like the image below. You can now isolate the keywords and see the translations. You can copy the Korean keyword from Papago.
Step 3: Create a Hashtags List in Your Notes
Don’t lose this work. Copy and paste both the Korean # and the English meaning into a Notes app on your phone. Make sure that you document all of this research for later. You can also share these hashtags lists with each other to make life in Korea easier to navigate. We all build this life together.
Anything else you need help with?
South of Seoul volunteers are always interested to learn what struggles English-speaking residents in South Korea face. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments and we can consider creating blogs to help support you in overcoming issues you may face.

December – February ( Winter ) – Go skiing or snowboarding! If you’re visiting South Korea in the winter, it’s the best time to hit the slopes or have fun in the snow! Build a snowman, create a snow angel or go on a winter hike. The winter is pretty cold in South Korea, but it’s definitely worth a visit to see the country magically covered in snow!
March – May ( Spring ) – Once the snow has melted away and nature starts brightening up again, South Korea is covered in beautiful cherry blossoms. Japan is well known for the Sakura season all over the world, but South Korea gets the same lovely blossoms. Visit in Spring to be a part of the Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival!
June – August ( Summer ) – This season is pretty different to European summers. South Korea experiences typhoons and the rainy season in the summer months. It’s usually hot and humid with lots of rain, although there will be sunny days too! We visited in early June and it was getting hot but no rain.
September – November ( Fall ) – Another beautiful season to visit South Korea – the foilage in October is absolutely beautiful and should be a season on your South Korea bucket list. Spring and Fall may be the best seasons to come to Korea.
What to pack for South Korea?
Depending on the weather, you’ll want to pack the clothes you usually wear, plus a good pair of footwear! We wear trainers everywhere (even when wearing hanbok oops!) and it’s definitely needed in the cities or on short hikes. Here are a few travel essentials we always carry:

By utilizing relevant travel hashtags, content creators can expose their travel stories to a broader audience beyond their immediate followers.
This is particularly vital for capturing the essence of new locations, which could enthrall an audience that is actively searching for real and authentic travel experiences.
Hashtags help bridge the gap between content creators and content seekers, bringing global destinations to potential travelers’ fingertips.
Connecting with Communities
For many travelers, hashtags are more than just a tool for visibility—they are a means of connecting with others who share similar passions and interests.
Whether it’s finding someone who has navigated the same remote hiking trails or connected with local cultures, most popular travel hashtags facilitate these connections.
Travelers can share their experiences under specific hashtags, which allows others who are planning similar trips to find authentic advice and real-life recommendations.
This community-building aspect of luxury travel hashtags is invaluable, as it leads to exchanges of travel tips, safety advice, recommendations for must-see spots, and sometimes even personal connections that can last a lifetime.
This shared knowledge base can greatly enhance the travel experience, providing insights and information that are not always available through traditional travel guides or websites.
Using trending travel hashtags effectively can expand your social media reach, connect you with the travel community, and enhance your online presence.

How to Use Korean Hashtags on Instagram|Tips for SNS Operations with Inbound
SNS is now a tool that is used not only for personal interests but also as a marketing method for companies and events. In particular, marketing techniques that effectively use "hashtags (#)" have been attracting attention in recent years as a countermeasure against inbound travel.
In particular, the use of "Korean hashtags" is effective in marketing to tourists from Korea. Through images and real-time postings, information can be sent directly to Korean tourists planning to travel to Japan.
In this article, we have selected popular hashtags that are actually used by Korean visitors to Japan on the subject of "Instagram," which has a great influence on the inbound market.
We will explain how to effectively use Korean hashtags on Instagram, and hope you will find them useful in attracting potential customers and building word-of-mouth.
What is a hashtag (#)?
Hashtags are useful tools for categorizing social networking posts and connecting with users. There are three main benefits to using hashtags
Easier to connect with users who share a common goal
Reach a wider range of users
Stay up-to-date on the latest trends
By using hashtags, information can be disseminated to a wider range of users. In addition, it is also advantageous to make it easier to connect with the target audience of your social networking posts. By utilizing hashtags that your personas may be interested in, you can aim for effective SNS operation.
Another advantage is that you can efficiently research the latest trending information and topics of interest. By checking posts with popular hashtags, you can easily grasp the trends of SNS and posts.
How to Use Hashtags in Business
Hashtags are used as an effective tool in SNS marketing.
For example, when holding a campaign, you can easily encourage users to participate by asking them to post with a dedicated hashtag. Campaigns using hashtags can lower the hurdle for users to participate and significantly increase awareness of the service.
In addition, by searching for the hashtag "#service name," you can hear the real voices of users.
Cautions for Hashtag Posting
In order to effectively use hashtags in social networking posts, the following three points should be kept in mind
Keep hashtags brief.
Use only hashtags that are relevant to the content of the post.
Do not post a series of posts with a hashtag.
Hashtags should be short and concise. Keywords that are too long may not be found in searches. It is important to list short words such as "#좋아요 #친구 #패션 ".
In addition, adding hashtags that are not related to your post or posting a series of posts with hashtags can be seen as spam. It is important to understand the rules for social networking posts, as it may be reported if it is considered impression gaining or spam.
Korean hashtags popular on Instagram
From here, we will introduce Korean hashtags that are likely to attract attention from the perspective of inbound measures.
Korean hashtags popular among Korean visitors to Japan
Hashtags in Korean for the 47 prefectures of Japan
Focusing on Instagram, which is actively used in both Korea and Japan, we have selected standard and popular hashtags in Korean that can be used to connect with Korean visitors to Japan. We hope you will find these hashtags useful for sending and collecting information.
10 Korean hashtags popular among Koreans visiting Japan
First, we will introduce the Korean hashtags that are popular among Korean visitors to Japan. We have listed 10 hashtags in descending order, starting with the hashtags with the highest number of posts on Instagram, so please take a look.
The hashtags above show that Osaka is the most popular, followed by Tokyo and Fukuoka as the main tourist destinations. Below is an actual example of a search from a PC using the hashtag #오사카 (Osaka).
The hashtag with the highest number of posts is #일본 (Japan), but this is a miscellaneous hashtag that includes information other than Korean inbound travel, so care should be taken when conducting research. By using this hashtag in conjunction with other hashtags, you will be able to narrow down your target audience even more.
Hashtags using the 47 prefectures in Korean
In recent years, due to the depreciation of the yen, inbound-oriented SNS measures are being sought outside of major cities. Below is a list of hashtags in Korean for each of the 47 prefectures, which we hope you will find useful.
Korean Hashtag] Inbound Use of Instagram
Instagram is a popular social networking service used by more than 2 billion people worldwide. Since information can be easily shared and spread using only photos and videos, it is attracting attention as being extremely effective for inbound measures.
From here, let's take a look at some tips for effective operation of SNS by utilizing the Korean hashtags introduced here.
How to use hashtags on Instagram
How to find effective korean hashtags that suit your company.
Frequency is the key to posting hashtags on Instagram
Instagram is a social networking service that mainly posts photos and images rather than text. One difference from other SNSs is that it does not have a full sharing function. Therefore, hashtags are characterized by their diffusion and search functions.
Instagram limits the number of hashtags that can be added to a single post to 30. Even in "Stories," a popular feature for real-time posting, up to 10 hashtags can be added.
However, neither too many nor too few hashtags are allowed. In the past, it was believed that users' response rates were higher when around 11 hashtags were used, but now Instagram officially states that 3-5 hashtags are effective.
Conversely, only one or two hashtags will likely not be recognized by the system. User response rates will drop to less than 50%, so be aware of the appropriate number of hashtags.
The basics of SNS marketing techniques do not differ greatly between Japan and overseas. The first step is to effectively reach out to potential customers and make them aware of your company. To do so, you need to first send out information using hashtags that prospective customers (Koreans visiting Japan) are likely to search for.
To find effective hashtags, we recommend using Korean translation tools called "Google Translate" or "Papago.
Using a translation tool to translate Japanese keywords into Korean
Check if the hashtag exists by searching on Instagram
Repeat steps 1-3 until you find 3-5 valid hashtags
Analyze the top posts for valid hashtags and look for more hashtags
When searching for hashtags on Instagram, also check the number of posts using that hashtag. If there are a large number of posts, it can be used as a valid hashtag.
Frequency is the key to posting hashtags on Instagram.
The advantage of Instagram is that information is conveyed through hashtags, photos, and videos. If the medium is interesting, there is no need for explanatory text in foreign languages. Therefore, even if your company does not have foreign-language staff, you can still conduct effective SNS marketing.
Since Instagram tends to appear in chronological order, it is necessary to update information on a regular basis. It is important to post regularly in order to continue to appear at the top of the list.
It is also recommended to use hashtags for your brand or service content. The advantages of using your own hashtag in combination with the following promotional activities
Allow potential customers to check out posts by users who have used your company.
Collect reviews from users who have used your company
Realistic posts from a third party's perspective on social networking sites can sometimes be a more powerful promotional tool than your own posts. By combining this with regular posting, you will be able to reach potential customers more efficiently.
The advantage of Instagram is that it is a revolutionary social networking service that can be used for inbound marketing by making full use of media and hashtags, even if you do not have a staff with excellent language skills. It is used by people all over the world, and is also greatly used in Korea as a tool for gathering and disseminating information.
Of course, it is important to take beautiful photos and send out intriguing and attractive media. However, emphasis must also be placed on effectively using Korean hashtags to deliver information to target audiences and create an environment where it is easy to attract attention.
Refer to the Korean hashtag and Instagram usage tips for effective SNS marketing to attract potential customers.

Here are our tips for optimizing your travel photography hashtags strategy. That way, you too can get the most exposure for your travel Instagram posts, and grow your Instagram following.
Post When Your Users Are Most Active
If a tree falls in the forest, and no one’s online to see your Instagram post of it, did it even happen?
Giggles aside, you get the point.
It doesn’t matter if you have the most slammin’ travel shot there ever was and used the top hashtags for travel photography known to humankind, if you’re not also making sure your people are online to see it.
Your goal is to post your content, with your best travel photography hashtags, at the times when users are most active. This is when users are most likely to engage with your posts.
The more users that engage with your post early on, the more people the Instagram algorithm will show your post to.
How do you know when to post?
If you have a creator or business account (and if you plan on being serious about your Instagram travel photography, you should) your Instagram account analytics will help you out. Learn how to set up a creator or business account.
- Head to your profile on the mobile app
- Tap the Insights button
- Tap “Total Followers”
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and find “Most Active Times”
If you converted your profile to a creator or business account recently, these analytics will only show insights for content posted after you converted.
In case you’re not able to access your Instagram analytics, a general rule is that users are most active on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from the hours of 10 am to 2 pm.

You can use up to 30 hashtags on each post.
We use all 30 travel photography hashtags on every post, except Reels posts.
For Reels, we recommend 15 or less hashtags to better directly target your traffic. However, you may use up to 30 hashtags on Reels as well.
We will group our travel photography hashtags below to make it easier for you to select the number of hashtags you want.
Instagram doesn’t like seeing repetitive behavior. When it sees too much repetitive behavior, the Instagram algorithm might construe you for a bot. Therefore too much use of the same, identical hashtags on every, single post for a prolonged period of time may lead to a shadowban. You do not want that.
To avoid this, be sure to vary your traveling photography hashtags on each post.
A good general practice is to select 15 or so of the best hashtags for travel photography on a post. Then add your own additional hashtags specific to the post.
We’ve divided our travel photography hashtags below into groups of 15, allowing you to easily mix and match, and add your own hashtags as you need.
Additional travel photography hashtags you could use are:
place-specific hashtags
- referring to the city, state, or country
- e.g. #californiadreaming
content-specific hashtags
- referring to the actions, place or subjects
- e.g. #hikingaddict , # beachvibes , # beardedhiker
When used properly, Instagram can function as a market research travel photography app to show you what works, and what doesn’t.
A periodic auditing of your posts can give you tons of information to help you grow your Instagram account. You can perform an audit by using the Instagram Insights feature we discussed earlier.
Every once in a while (we do it once a month), go through your posts and make note of:
- the engagement ( number of comments and likes )
- and reach ( how many users saw the post )
To see these analytics, simply go to the post you want to study, and tap “View insights” on the bottom left corner of the post.
If you notice some posts have a greater reach than others, make note of the travel photography hashtags you used.
If you continue to see the same hashtags correlating with your posts with the highest reach, those are the best travel photography hashtags that work for you to grow your Instagram following.

For Instagram optimization, it doesn’t really matter where the hashtags go.
However, we do recommend placing your travel photography hashtags in the comments for regular photo & video posts, as it keeps them neater.
Be sure to add 5 periods, each on their own line, to ensure the hashtags are hidden behind a “read more” tag, and don’t clutter up your comment section.

Maximize Conversions: First Impressions Matter
Last but not least, to truly optimize your travelling photography hashtags game, you should be mindful of your Instagram profile and feed.
The whole reason to optimize your posts and find the top hashtags for travel photography is to lead people to your posts to like and comment, and hopefully to your profile to follow you.
In order to maximize these conversions and gain more followers, you shouldn’t neglect your:
- Instagram profile bio
These are the most important factors for making a first impression on potential followers.
Your Top 9 is your collection of 9 most recent posts, and one of the first things potential followers see. It is often the deciding factor on whether or not someone chooses to follow you.
Be mindful to always have your Top 9 be as enticing as can be, and representative of the kind of travel photography users can expect from you.
Here is our current Top 9, as an example.
Users care about one of two things (sometimes both): story and style.
Aim to fulfill at least one of these.
Focusing on style means focusing on image quality. If you focus on style, choose your best images, use a decent camera, or even a drone. Refer to our guides for the best budget travel cameras and how to travel with a drone .
Make sure your feed is cohesive and beautiful.
Otherwise, you might choose to focus on story.
Use your image and caption to tell a compelling thought, share a memory, convey your personality in a way that makes people want to be friends with you. Be relatable and authentic. Just be yo damn self, ok?
The best posts will be mindful of both story and style.

Your Instagram profile bio is also important for converting potential followers into followers.
Make your bio descriptive and informative. A potential follower should be able to get a clear sense of who you are and what they can expect from you just by looking at your bio.
Here’s our current bio, as an example.
Our slogan, “Your life, Your terms,” is first, as almost all of our content is about living life in a way that serves you and your needs.
Next is a little tagline about ourselves: “Living a whimsical life ’round the globe.” This conveys that our content is about both travel and lifestyle .
We have our location, as a lot of our recent content will be coming out of LA and Joshua Tree.
We have our contact info, and finally, a link to our travel blog with a recent post of ours.
A potential follower can get a clear sense of our vibe and our content, and make their decision whether or not to follow us based on that impression.

10 Of The Most Popular K-Pop Hashtags From 2021 That Had Fans Shook
When anything is happening in the K-Pop industry, Twitter is often the place that fans go to in order to find out information and share their own opinions on the matter. Because of this, hashtags often become widely trended when something particularly shocking or controversial is occurring, spreading the news quickly.
Here are 10 of the most popular K-Pop-related hashtags from 2021, most of which were caused by scandals, but there were a couple positive ones as well!
1. #ParkChanyeol_Come_Out_And_Talk
Late in 2020, EXO ‘s Chanyeol was accused by an ex-girlfriend of three years to have cheated on her with multiple other women. The allegations rocked the industry, and the hashtags #ParkChanyeol_NoMore_Silence and #ParkChanyeol_Come_Out_And_Talk (or rather, the Hangul translation of the phrase, #박찬열_나와서_얘기해) began spreading wildly on Twitter in February 2021 to encourage the idol to speak his side of the story.
#박찬열_침묵_그만 #박찬열_나와서_얘기해 exols, stop reporting these hashtag cos they are not negative at all! we just want him to come out and explain the truth after months of silence. no offense, just a request. — 오늘따라 왜 이렇게 보고 싶은지 (@sebongkyoongie) February 3, 2021
While the initial response from fans was mostly in support of Chanyeol, when he remained silent on the accusations for some time (and with SM Entertainment ‘s simple response saying that they had no stance on the issue), the hashtags came from fans who were getting frustrated with his silence.
2. #APOLOGIZETOSOOJIN
February 2021 continued on a rough note when then- (G)I-DLE member Soojin was accused of bullying a friend from high school for years. Additionally, actress Seo Shin Ae accused her of the same. In order to combat these allegations, Soojin and Cube Entertainment took a legal stance in order to defend the idol, and fans of the group began the hashtag #APOLOGIZETOSOOJIN to show their support.
instead of denying everything, soojin owned up to what she did while also debunking what she didn’t do. THAT is how you take responsibility for your actions while also proving your innocence. #ApologizeToSoojin pic.twitter.com/ayI0SN0HTU — idle pics ⁶⁻¹⁼⁰ (@idlepics) February 22, 2021
Unfortunately, as most K-Pop fans should know, Soojin still ended up leaving (G)I-DLE in order to not negatively impact their reputation, something that many are still upset with to this day.
3. #LightItUpBTS
Fortunately there were some positive trends that became popular on Twitter in 2021! The hashtag #LightItUpBTS hit over 2 million tweets an hour before they were set to make an appearance at the Grammys , after fans around the world had planned to get the K-Pop group trending even more than the awards show itself!
I will give them Army Award 💜 #LightItUpBTS pic.twitter.com/2kTCZguQux — จจ|rest| (@JeedjardG) March 15, 2021
Fans felt that BTS has been used by the western music industry for clout in the past, and this was their way of showing just how much love and care ARMYs have for the group!
4. #WhereIsHyunjin
In June of 2021, fans of Stray Kids began trending #WhereIsHyunjin after the member of the group had been absent from their activities and promotions for four months. He had been accused of bullying by two former schoolmates in February and March, which led to JYP Entertainment denying the accusations and taking legal actions against the alleged victims. Even so, Hyunjin also released a personal apology towards those who spoke against him and took a hiatus from Stray Kids.
#WhereIsHyunjin is currently trending at #2 worldwide with over 272k tweets. It’s also trending in 10 other countries: Russia, Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Spain & Saudi Arabia 스트레이 키즈 현진 #Hyunjin @Stray_Kids #현진 #스트레이키즈현진 pic.twitter.com/uK4C3Cbrug — Hyunjin 현진 Central (@HHJCentral) June 10, 2021
Fans continued to show their support of Hyunjin during his hiatus, but when JYP Entertainment failed to update them on the idol’s condition during this time, this hashtag began trending in order to demand a response from the company to know how Hyunjin was doing. Fortunately, it was only later that month when he made an appearance in the group’s music video for “Mixtape: OH”!
5. #BLACKPINKdisband
Also during the summer of 2021, all was not well for fans of BLACKPINK when the hashtag #BLACKPINKdisband began appearing on their timelines. The group, of course, was not disbanding, and the trend came from an ongoing fan war between BLINKs and ARMYs, where the “fans” of BLACKPINK made harassing comments and accusations against BTS.
pov you open twitter and you see that #blackpinkdisband is trending: pic.twitter.com/yAVMRXa3JQ — ssssss (@chaesoologist) October 13, 2021
Due to this distasteful behavior, ARMYs and other K-Pop fans alike began the trend #BLACKPINKdisband (as well as #BlinksApologizeToBTS) in order to fire back at the so-called BLINKs who had been attacking BTS.
6. #Bahiyyih_Out
Closer to the end of summer, now- Kep1er member Bahiyyih became the target of a hateful campaign on Twitter in order to get her removed from Girls Planet 999 . She didn’t do anything controversial or scandalous; people simply didn’t like her visuals and thought she was riding on the popularity of her brother, TXT ‘s Hueningkai , in order to become an idol.
Just stop it with #bahiyyih_out and #Kep1erOT8 everybody deserve to debut bahiyyih deserve it she doesn’t make any wrong to you guys right. Anyway is it a sin for became a sister of an idol🙂 — goeunsevngh (@LimYura4) November 6, 2021
Of course, despite these attempts to tear her down, Bahiyyih ended up placing second on the competition show and ended up as a member of Kep1er!
7. #Lucas_Out
A little while later in the year, NCT and SuperM member Lucas found himself caught in accusations of being a cheater and a gold digger. Initially fans didn’t believe the rumors and supported the seemingly humble and sweet idol, growing evidence against him from alleged former girlfriends began to sway public opinion. Because of this, the hashtag #Lucas_Out started to trend on social media to have him removed from his K-Pop groups.
he’s not innocent. this “apology” says it all #lucas_out #lucasisnotinnocent pic.twitter.com/QNJcWupXz1 — tia ❤️ (@shizunalbedo) November 22, 2021
He quickly went on hiatus despite some upcoming projects, and as of this article’s writing, Lucas’s future in the K-Pop industry is still unknown, as he didn’t appear on NCT’s Universe album.
8. #GotARMYRightBehindYou
BTS fans thankfully came in to save the day again with another positive trend during the year! After the K-Pop group gave a speech at the 2021 United Nations General Assembly and performed “Permission To Dance” in front of the U.N. Headquarters, ARMYs were able to get the hashtag #GotARMYRightBehindYou trending for the whole day!

There ended up being a record number of engagements worldwide because of this event, showing just how huge of an impact BTS has on a global scale!
9. #YGLetLisaDoHerWork
October saw BLACKPINK members trending again with the hashtag #YGLetLisaDoHerWork beginning to spread on Twitter. Fans believed that Lisa was being exempt from attending fashion events while the other members of the group were seen at them, leading to many upset BLINKs.
LISA DESERVES BETTER JUSTICE FOR LISA YG TREAT LISA EQUALLY #BeFairToLISA #YGTalkToUs #YGLetLisadoHerWork pic.twitter.com/s1rPkjYxIR — Xoài Úc (@u96220040) October 12, 2021
The CEO of BVLGARI made a post on Instagram explaining that though Lisa was in Paris for an event, YG Entertainment was not allowing her to participate due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
10. #WeWantMoreJHope
Finally, the year ended with a final trending hashtag for BTS member J-Hope. Though fans were ecstatic to see the K-Pop group in person for the Permission To Dance concert, when they realized that J-Hope only had 4 minutes and 44 seconds of lines in the entire 3-hour-long show, they became understandably upset, and got the hashtag #WeWantMoreJHope spreading quickly on social media.
Is this a fucking joke?!?!? #jhopedeservesbetter #wewantmorejhope #give_jhope_more pic.twitter.com/Q9YXPTRu88 — midnight boi (@midnightdrive8) November 28, 2021
Though it likely wasn’t intentional that J-Hope has such few lines in the show, and fans knew the members likely wouldn’t be happy about the hashtag, that didn’t stop ARMYs from trying to get justice for their beloved sunshine.
